Everything on the menu is fully customizable! They had a dog of the day, and even a "plain Jane" dog which is what I got. Super tasty loads of flavor. We got tots to share for the table, and I will say these are the best tator tots I've have in a very long time! My daughter, who is 9, just wanted a playing burger with cheese- which was technically not on the menu- but they were so kind to switch things up. Customer service was great, and the cashier was very patient and explain everything to us. We loved the decor- which was very Godfather themed. There are a couple seat in doors, but more seating outside with umbrellas at each table. I highly recommend The Dogfather to anyone who loves hotdogs and great burgers.
Some of the hot dogs are very interesting and have a lot going on but I ended up getting something that was really good. I wish they had more traditional options as well for people who may have food restrictions. The service was good too! I got the Stinger and appreciated the all beef quality. The ambiance is chill and they both indoor and outdoor seating with music playing. PS My friends stated that anything with the Bratwurst wasn't as good but I did not try it myself.
I enjoyed The DogFather as part of the Spurs Culinary Residency, featuring minority owned businesses in the H-E-B Fan Zone section. The Gotti Guisada dog was fire; not spicy like, but rather just really tasty. It was a beef frank topped with house made carne guisada, queso, pico de gallo and salsa verde. Well worth the $12.59. The tots were an extra $4.59.
Had a hankerin' fer a dawg. So after taking a few rolls of 120mm film to Digital Pro to be developed, I headed to The Dogfather with glee. It's been a few years since I've been by; so, I was truly looking forward to getting something. I chose The Brat & tots (plain). I was very happy with my choice. The gentleman greeted me immediately. I thought it would take me a minute, but, as I stated, I chose The Brat immediately. I'm a little high strung from my age, so people kinda chuckle. It's cute. I make me smile. They put the perfect amount of mustard on it too! See the photos, but it comes covered with cabbage & crispy fried onions. It is amazing. I was able to get a whole 1/3 of it eaten before my body shut down. Tot wise, they were hot & perfectly fried! I like to dip mine in ketchup, but they offer you various other dips as well. So, I got ranch cuz, um, of course. Also, I really like their soda brand. I can't remember it, but it's a dia de los muertos skull for the logo, but I love their roots beer, which was my beverage of choice today. It's really a nice little place to just come in & sit & enjoy a yummy hotdog alone, or with family/friends.
Second visit and nothing but good things to say! Service is wonderful and fast. Great weather to have dinner outside. Lots of planes flying overhead, our puppy loves planes. Also love this place because they're dog friendly. They usually have water bowls for dogs. Lots of delicious options for vegans but learn from my mistake: you have to ask them to make your hot dog vegan or else they use the regular recipe. Overall, great experience! We will be back!
Just wow! What a fun and delicious hot dog place. They take a simple concept and make it that much better. The buns are very unique almost reminds me of Raising Canes toast. Also, if you still can't tolerate hot dogs they can make any menu item a buger. The service was great the employee was patient. The atmosphere was fun and were able to sit outside in the shade m, had a wonderful time!
I hate hotdogs but this place is absolutely amazing! They have such a fun menu with crazy options. Hotdogs or burgers loaded with unique topping combos. They tasted AMAZINGGGG. My burger was hot and juicy. Absolutely flavorful and honestly just perfect. The inside of the restaurant had a nice vibe and was kept neat and clean. Also the worker was extremely kind on explaining the menu to us and making sure we had what we wanted. This place is just wonderful and hopefully you can swing by to try out something so great! 100/10
I ordered The Ratchet Burger (DD), hubby ordered one of their dogs and we shared elote fries. It was amazing, the portions are large, filling and they have frozen margaritas!
As a hotdog lover, The Dogfather was a dream! I love me a fancy hot dog so I wish I could've tried the whole menu here... but we settled on trying three hot dogs between the two of us. All were delicious but both of our favorites were the elote dog! It's a casual spot so you order at the counter and they'll bring your food to your table.
Dog-gone delicious! My husband loved every bit of the frito pie dog and crispy dogs be hot. I'm not much of a hot dog person but when he says it's delicious, I believe him and may try it next time. I love the variety of the menu and the atmosphere was nice. I liked the music that was playing. It's a good place to bring friends and just chill. The lady taking my order was very nice and attentive. Thank you for your delicious food. We'll be back!
Honestly, 10/10. Great service, even at 10 o clock at night. Female at the counter was super kind and helpful. Super cool place, great music and cool appearance. Now, the food. Soooo good. My picky child loved her plain Jane, and my picky fiance rated his vegetarian elote dog 8.5/10. We will definitely come back! So good.
Cat is amazing! The best customer service we have gotten since being here in San Antonio. She was attentive and made great conversation. She sold me on a $2 margarita (Thursday special) and I added watermelon to add some flavor. They have some cool dogs with crazy toppings - it was hard to chose! But I went for the Drop it like it's Hot (Bacon wrapped all beef hot dog, nacho cheese, sour cream and fried jalapeños) and 1/2 order of curly fries with their homemade chili and cheese. You can do full servings also- and add some real cool toppings like "Elote".. they have curly fries , tater tot's or fried pickles to choose from. They carry local sodas - the fresh margaritas- definitely have a good choice of drinks. Stop by and tell Cat hi!!! Will be going back to try the Frito pie next!
Recommend:Yes! The food was really good! The hot dogs were very beefy, you can probably only handle one along with a side . Food: I went there with family after an extracurricular activity. My brother had The Guac, my SIL had the Pop It Like It's Hot, and I had the Elote. My SIL rated hers as a 8, it had jalapeños that were very spicy so she had to eat them separate along with a tot but overall she enjoyed it. My brother rated his as a 9 and said he'd def come back. The elote dog was good. The bun was toasted, has enough elote and crema to compliment the taste. The hot dog was juicy. Next time I think I'll ask if I can get my dog toasted/grilled too. I had the Sucia Tots. They were really good, crispy, and right amount of condiments. I also ordered the frozen margarita and it was DELICIOUS! I normally don't do frozen because they get too watery but this maintained its flavor throughout the dinner and it stayed cold! Service: You order at the counter and your food is brought out to you. The service was good and fast. Very helpful when answering questions. Ambiance: It is a bit small inside, with only 3 tables of four seats and a bar with stools. There is plenty seating outside. The place is clean. I can see this as a hangout spot, where the margaritas are too good that you'll need to go back and order their yummy tots.

I ate here with some friends and we had a great time! I ordered the Pop it like it's hot with curly fries which had cheese, cream cheese, and fried jalapeños. It tasted great and it made me excited to come back and try the other options they have! The curly fries were also seasoned well and very crisp. They might've been a bit understaffed because there was no one at the register when I walked in so I had a wait a minute or two before receiving service. But when she took my order and gave us our food she was super nice. The food also didn't take long to come out either. I very much enjoyed the outdoor area I sat at with my friends. The cars driving by were a bit loud but my friends and I still enjoyed our time and the flowers around the area were very pretty. Highly recommend and I need to come back here!! read more
Went there today for the first time and really enjoyed it! Order at the counter and they bring you the order. The menu has a lot of creative across numerous options which include hamburgers as well as vegetarian and vegan options. For your beverages, options include fountain soft drinks as well as a nice beer selection and margaritas! They have limited seating inside with lots of outdoor tables with shade. Service was prompt and courteous. I definitely recommend it as a place to try out that has a "one of a kind" flair to it!! read more
This is an official Local Favorite of mine! Dogfather is in a really low key location, and when you walk in the vibe is completely chill. My partner and I went on a Sunday morning just after 11am and there were already people coming in to eat. It's popular for a reason! I've eaten here a few times and had a very consistently good time, but this review will be about my most recent visit. We visited on a rainy day, but luckily we were able to snag one of the inside tables, we ordered at the counter and our orders arrived very quickly. I got the Ratchet dog which is a beef dog with queso, hot Cheetos and fried jalapeños. Dogfather uses quality dogs and buns for all of their gourmet dogs. I found the Ratchet to be meaty, salty with just right amount of spice from the jalapeños. My partner got the Pop it like it's hot, but removed the jalapeños. This was good but lacking a bit of flavor, however she and I both agreed that was on her for taking the jalapeños off the dog. Both dogs were extremely tasty, and we devoured both. I also got an order of curly fries loaded with their chili and cheese. For me, these did not have to go as HARD as they did. The chili they are using at Dogfather is seriously good, with a slight tang and a good amount of spice. It thrills but does not take away from your meal with too much heat. Very tasty. My only feedback is that Dogfather needs a larger space! There's a good size outside seating area, but for times like today when it's raining people need some coverage. They're doing it right and the crowds want to come! As I have stated this is a local favorite. If you live nearby, make it a regular spot. If you live in San Antonio, do yourself a favor and make a trip over at least sometimes. If you like hot dogs you won't go wrong. read more

I've been waiting to try Dogfather for a while and I was not disappointed. This place is awesome. It is clear that management has a commitment to quality ingredients, preparation, and service. I now have a GO-TO for a fancy hot dog (and more). Crispy tots were cooked perfectly, the presentation of the dogs was very nice. Ordered: The "Elote" Tator Tots The "Brat" They also have pure cane-sugar soft drinks. I think I'm in love!! read more

I really was like, "hoooow am I going to get full off of one hotdog?!" The Dogfather was like, "Hold my hotdog. Let me show you" The service.... Perfect. Friendly. She made suggestions and shared costumer faves with us... and everyone else that walked in. Good service takes you along way! The food, sounds strange. But tastes sooo good. We got The Elote (corn, cojita cheese, Mayo, lime, takis) and The Ratchet (hot Cheetos, queso, fried jalapeños). And sucia curly fries. The inside is really small, but they also have outdoor seating. 10/10! read more

I love Dogfather! They have the best hotdogs AND now they have dogs fried in corn tortillas for those of us (like me) that need gluten-free. (this is a much better option than bun-less) BUT if you do get your dog on a bun, the buns and grilled and buttery. They have an amazing selection of gourmet dogs and the most amazing tots you will ever taste! They are always fresh and crispy, and I love getting them loaded with cheese and jalapeños. (FYI, these are definitely for sharing!) The staff is always friendly, seriously, they are always in a good mood. Not a single person hasn't been knowledgeable of the menu and what they can do. The inside is very small,not a lot of seating space but they have a nice outside dining area that always has nice sunshine. Oh, and they have great craft sodas! read more
I had lunch with a vegetarian friend and she didn't want salad. After a bit of research, we settled on this place. SHE LOVED IT! A veggie chili dog? Who would have expected? I always get the beef hot dog with tater tots on it because it seems like I'm getting a side for free. Absolutely delicious and unique hotdogs. My friends and I went on a hotdog crawl last weekend and this (out of 8 stops) was in the top 3 in the voting. The restaurant is small but offers outdoor seating. We only sampled two dogs, the Elote and the BBLT. The Elote was tasty and unique BUT, the BBLT was hands down everyone's favorite. I mean, how can your taste buds not fall in love with a bacon wrapped weenie. Amazing!! I will definitely be back to try more dogs. The margaritas are pretty good too. Tonight was our first time at Dogfather on San Pedro Ave. It was absolutely delicious. I had the Elote dog and it was the best hotdog I've ever had in my life. The service was excellent, and the attendant was very helpful in describing the available selections. We will certainly return, and attempt to go through the menu. Though, to be honest, I will probably always get that the Elote dog again and again read more

Stepping into this place feels like stepping into a vampire's den... The windows are dark-tinted so much that one can wonder if they are open or not. There's a "photo booth" in one corner, inviting curiosity. Turns out it's a silk covered debauchery box. I guess the hotdogs are so good that some can't even make it home before sealing the deal. Now, onto the hotdogs... erotically dressed, hugged by sweet Hawaiian tasting bread accompanied by flavor pairings that you wouldn't expect to work but sure do. It's unexpectedly delicious and quite satisfying. So if you're looking for a weird date night, hit up San Pedro golf, venture over to the Dog Father for a glizzy, and--who knows? You might get lucky in that mysterious photo booth. read more

Food was delicious and service was good and quick. We went around 5:00 on a Sunday so they weren't too busy. We got two hot dogs, chili cheese tots, fried pickles and two drinks for about $45. Well worth the money. Everything was so good! read more
My favorite thing about the DogFather is their weekly rotating menu. I've been able to try so many culinary creations. While they are known for their for hot hogs but also serve hamburgers too! You order at a counter and they bring the food to you. Cozy with limited seating indoors. But plenty of outdoor seating. Perfect spot to grab a late night bite. read more

Great food. Small spot with a terrific sign. Limited indoor seating, but lots of room outside. Friendly greeting as soon as we walked in and they helped us navigate all the options. Hot dogs were delicious with the perfect amount of topping - enough to enjoy but not so much as to lose the hotdog and make eating a terrible mess. The 1/2 order of tots was easily big enough for 2 people. My son has already claimed this as his new favorite restaurant. read more

Small place so expect to eat outside which has never been a bad thing for me so long as it's not freezing or raining - their hot dogs are so good, lots of fun options, and the fried pickles and curly fries are also good! Good portions, they also deliver inside the neighboring bar "Bang Bang" which is super cool! read more

I am not sure. I'd look at menu. Or call ahead. It's small so you would need to ask if they have a GF station to prep.
Are Dogs allowed?
Sorry know this isn't an exact answer, but they have a few outdoor tables/patio space. I'm sure y'all could sit there. The inside was pretty tight and limiting.
Do they have veggie dogs?
Yes! In fact, several of the staff members are proud vegetarians!
