This place was great! I throughly enjoyed everything. The chicken was perfectly fried and had a nice kick. The fries, dipping sauce and agua frescas were especially delicious. The customer service from the kid at the counter was great. He was super helpful, friendly and easygoing. The atmosphere was nice and felt warm and relaxing. Despite it being a tad pricey for fast casual food, i will definitely be returning.
This place does not disappoint! It's not far from downtown, it should be THE lunch spot for people. We had the salad, Mac-n-chz and waffle chicken sandwich it was so so delicious. The mac and cheese was so good it had chopped up scallions in it that made it .... chefs kiss. The service was fast. The place is clean. Now all you have to do is go try it for yourself.
Im obsessed with their corn! New to SA from LA, and it's been a thing getting a place to eat that I really like. This place has amazing option with large portions. I have tried the wings, Cesar salad, dirty bird which are great choices, savory comfort food. My favorite, Elites, I have never seen elites in such a pretty presentation, cut in strips and seasoned perfectly with fresh cheese and cilantro! I will keep coming to eat lunch here anytime in the area! Thanks to chef Cesar, Erika and their team, they are friendly and make you feel welcome from the minute you get here. Remember to order a fresh water, the Mango is my favorite!
Hiii okay soo I did a pick up order which can always affect the reviews by the time it reaches home. Came for lunch, ordered curbside to my car...they did exactly that. big deal bc I have a torn acl. I got the hot chicken Caesar salad, big flavors, Spicey-picas, for sure, my first few bites were absolutely delicious. But this is a heavy meal even as a salad, halfway through it I started getting grossed out and stopped eating. But to be 100 transparent I don't eat like this, typically more on the healthier side and we cook at home a lot, so this was a treat. Plus I can't move around much. If you want a heavy hearty more than a single serving portion, this is the place.
Finally got to try some local hot chicken at Pete's. I ended up ordering their chicken sandwich with a side of bacon mac and cheese and my brother got 1 chicken tender. The chicken is very large, made to order, and fresh. It has a good flavor. The Mac and cheese was ok- a bit dry. I also got a margarita which was good but regretted getting a flavor because then it was too sweet from the added syrup. The restaurant inside was clean and has plenty of seating. There's restrooms and they've got boardgames you can play while you wait. Definitely enjoyed the visit and look forward to visiting again.
Tried Pete's Hot Chicken for lunch today for the first time and I'm honestly wondering how I haven't been here sooner! If you've heard of other hot chicken spots, forget them -- Pete's wins hands down. It's such a cool little place with a great vibe. Every single person we interacted with was kind, professional, and genuinely welcoming. I ordered the tender meal with no spice (I can't handle the heat ), and my son got the 2-tender meal with medium -- which he confirmed is definitely spicy! We shared fries, and wow. The chicken was insanely juicy on the inside, perfectly crispy on the outside, and had such a clean flavor. And the fries? Next level. Super crispy and perfectly seasoned. They cook in tallow, which totally explains that clean, rich taste (if you know, you know!). If you haven't been yet, go show them some love -- you won't be disappointed. I'm already planning to go back and try their brunch. Those chicken and waffles are calling my name!

Recommend: Yes! Food: I got the Dirty Bird w/mild spice and a Pineapple Agua Fresca. The Agua Fresca was cold, refreshing, and just the right amount of sweet. It looks like it's hand made in the shop and you get a good amount. The Dirty Bird was loaded with fries, chopped chicken tenders (mild), creamy Mac n Cheese, sprinkled with bacon bits, and green onion. The spice had a kick but also a bit of sweetness to it. There was the right ratio of fries, to Mac n cheese, to chicken. As a matter of fact, I feel they didn't skimp out the chicken tenders like maybe another place would. The tenders were crispy. So you got crunch, savory, cheesy goodness in every bite. Service: Service was great. You order inside with the cashier, and you get a text message when food is ready. You have to go outside to get it. The food came quick and hot. People came in to check on you while you ate even thought it's self serve. Ambiance: Loved the music playing in the background. It also has low lighting, which felt cozy as I brought a book to read as well. There is plenty of seating and photo ops available.
Absolutely. Must try! I was in town visiting from Phoenix, and I was told this place was really bomb, and it did not disappoint. I tried out the dirty bird fries! So bomb, and honestly, probably one of the best fries I've ever had And the sweet tea was a 10/10 The ambience, and the service inside was really chill as well

I love hot food! Hot everything and this place was definitely super hot! The chicken was sooo flavorful and crunchy, fries were fresh, Mac and cheese was creamy and the auga Fresca tasted sooooo fresh! Everything was so yummy down to the condiments! The guy taking our order was very kind and informative on the menu! Definitely have to come back for there loaded chips! The food was brought to us quickly and every staff member was so kind. ALSO the INSIDE OF THE BUILDING was absolutely SOOOOO COZY AND INVITING. This is such a welcoming ambiance and I absolutely adored that they had such a pretty dining room. On top of that they have two TVs which made for great time. I'd definitely recommend this place!

Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly - gave my partner & me some amazing recommendations to try out. The food was so delicious, with an incredible presentation. Bottom Line Up Front: This place is the real deal, huge portions, fair price, great setting. I had high hopes for this place after seeing a few of the videos on various social media platforms of the "bring your own bag" meals where they cut a bag of chips of your choice open and load it with chicken, mac and cheese, and their Comeback Sauce. We didn't bring our own chips, but luckily they recently started selling their own. We opted for a bag of the "Cheetos Flamin' Hot Dill Pickle" and it was delicious! Each of the components could easily stand on its own, the chicken, the mac and cheese, and the sauce were all phenomenal. We opted for the medium heat level and it had plenty of heat without being too overwhelming. One order was more than enough to share between two people, and I can't wait to go back and try different combinations with the various levels of spice and a different bag of chips. Another unexpected treat was how delicious their sweet tea was. They also offered Agua Fresca which I'm excited to try next time. The server was very friendly and helpful in providing recommendations, and their venue was really neat. You order inside, and then pick up your food from a food truck window when it's ready. Plenty of indoor seating, and some card games you can play while you wait.

We are from Dripping Springs and always stop here while we are in SA! The best fried chicken we have probably ever had. Owner is very nice Inside ambiance is cute too and patio is chill for nice fall nights. The chicken and waffles are our go to here! Medium is perfect level of flavor and HOT IS HOT! Absolutely worth the money. On the pricey side at about $20 per person for entree and side but so worth it. Newest fav is the fried pickles OMG! This place is a 10/10 read more

Pete's Hot Chicken is one of my go-to lunch spots, and this visit was another winner. The Chicken Caesar Salad was honestly a 10/10. The lettuce was super fresh and crunchy, the dressing was just right, and adding the crispy chicken in mild was the perfect choice. It had just enough heat to make the salad even better without being overpowering. You can never go wrong with the hot chicken tenders. They're a classic for a reason...crispy, juicy, and consistently delicious every time. And let's talk about the bacon mac and cheese. It's easily the best in San Antonio and a must-order every single visit. So creamy, cheesy, and loaded with bacon. We also tried the jalapeño smash burger, and wow. It was juicy, flavorful, served hot, and had the perfect amount of kick. If you're looking for a great weekend lunch, Pete's Hot Chicken is always a solid choice. Was not sure about Pete's when we first pulled up as does not look like much from the outside. Once you enter, all are very friendly and supply great customer service. There is seating on the outside that is covered and has fans. Inside has a cool vibe, with many games to keep you busy until food arrives and possibly after. They gave a military discount and appreciate the military. Food was VERY Tasty all around!! Not your average Hot Chicken place, from fresh buns, to crispy chicken on the outside to tender on the inside with good flavor. Only one problem, is wish that we lived closer read more

Cool sort of divey spot that operates with an indoor seating area and the kitchen is a food truck parked outside! Can do dine in or take out. Lots of street parking in the area. You can choose your spice level which is nice. I got the dirty bird with extra chicken tenders and a medium heat level and the chicken was fried to perfection. Crispy but juicy! Absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back for take out! read more

We stopped by this food truck spot during a road trip in Texas. We had fried chicken and waffles--both were pretty good. The chicken was spicy and crispy, and the waffles were freshly made. The staff were awesome, and the food came out quickly. The spot also has a nice outdoor atmosphere with plenty of tables and other food trucks to explore. read more

Hands down thee best hot chicken in San Antonio!!!! Awesome environment friendly service and the aguas frescas taste very fresh. I tried their dirty bird fries and their rasco sandwich both tastes very fresh and crispy. The flavor is unbelievable never tried something so good definitely going back with my family my new favorite food have to go back to try everything else. read more

Get it to go! That's literally the only downside. The food is amazingggg. The wings, the elote, the agua fresca and the service allll on point. We were having to fight off tons of flies so get this deliciousness to go. read more

Hands down the BEST Nashville Hot in San Antonio. I try Nashville Hot at every place that offers it, but none even come close to what Pete's provides!!! I highly recommend you check out their new location at 2418 S. Presa. You won't be disappointed. My favorite is the Dirty Bird with Medium seasoning. It has a delicious kick of heat and sweet. Paired with bacon Mac and cheese, French fries and special sauce. Your taste buds will thank you. The chicken tenders are huge!! Just check out the photos. read more
