They've got a solid lineup of burgers on the menu, but I was there for one thing, their Philly cheesesteaks. We both ordered the fully loaded version with fajita peppers and a side of crispy tots. I've had this place bookmarked a while. It's on my "best burgers in SAT" list. Going in the door, let me just tell you: don't bother parking right across the street. Yeah, okay, it's convenient, but by the time you pay to park (minimum of four hours, which pissed me off) and then have your tiny, overpriced burger...you gonna be mad. Do yourself a favor and fight for street parking. I walked up to the outside counter Saturday night about 7:20. Never been here. The ladies behind the counter obviously could NOT have cared less. No nice welcome...no pleasantries. Nothing said. I spoke first, asking about seating availability inside (it was chilly), and they were rude - looked at me like I was from outer space and said they didn't know. They said they didn't know in that "yeah, good luck with that...it's Saturday at 7, dumbass" kinda way. How could you not know? And if you truly didn't know, which one of them should have gone to check for me. So I went and checked myself. Turns out: plenty of seating. Returned to the chilly duo and placed my order. Ordered the Wake and Bacon burger. I also ordered a Topo Chico, which was also met with a blank "are you from this planet?" stare. How do you not have Topo Chico or something similar !? The burger was just okay. Tiny, but tasty. Fries were so salty and over-seasoned as to be almost inedible. No one checked on me after bringing me my burger. Not one time. Super cool atmosphere w great burgers. Don't get the chicken sandwiches as they aren't what a Texan expects. They taste like a meat alternative and they have coleslaw instead of lettuce. The fried pickles are spears and crispy...very good. A huge outdoor patio and self-pour beer wall are the highlight. This would be a great place for a bday party or end of year celebration. We went looking for a chill place to grab some food after my son's college graduation... he found it on Apple Maps. I was skeptical at first, I didn't like that I had to pay for parking, maybe there was free parking but we didn't look or ask- so that's on me. I also didn't like that I had to pour my own sweet tea. She had a carne guisada burrito, I had the buffalo chicken burrito/ fries and we shared some fried pickle spears. Literally every bite was delicious. We all left super stuffed and took naps when we got home. Happy family = happy man that gives great reviews. Let me get to the staff- a long haired man, and another guy with glasses tended to us at the bar- super friendly but not overly fake. We dealt with flies and then found out after we were done that they have those table top spinning things that deter flies so we will use that next time. Service was quick and friendly. Had a great time visiting Smash'd for the first time. We got to check out some live music while sipping on some specialty cocktails and grubbing on some serious loaded fries. The Carne Asada Fries were remarkable! Much try when you visit. Keep them the way they come. I love my Razzle Dazzle cocktail to help it all go down. One of my favorite local spots! I'm absolutely obsessed with their California burrito -- it's the only thing I order, and it never disappoints. The live music and great ambiance make it a perfect place to hang out. Service is always excellent. While I'm not the biggest fan of some other menu items, that burrito keeps me coming back. The smash's burgers are very unique and great, with a side of seasoned fries. Made with Texas Wagyu beef. They had chicken sandwiches also that I'll try next time. They had a very lime-y taste. I think it was the fries themselves, hubby said it was the avocado. My husband got the plain jane burger... mustard, homemade pickles, cheese and a sauce, also based on the cashier's advice (against the Philly). For me, the burger was too plain. There was one w a hash brown patty and a fried egg and another with grilled pineapple, so many choices, but the hubby isn't very adventurous. The buns were yummy. In town for the weekend. Visiting the are and friends from Oklahoma City... hit this place up after a trip to kids amusement park. We had a short drive here found parking. Staff joked with us as I was here in my KC Chiefs gear. All in all this choice of a food spot -Great decision! Great comfortable atmosphere. Bathrooms were clean! Both burgers were unique and full of flavor! Nothing bland here. The onion rings were really crispy and the sweet potato fries were delicious. Finally got a chance to try Smash'd and let me tell you..it was absolutely satisfying and super good. Customer Service A+, The vibes A+ and the Food definitely an A+. We ordered the classic burger and fries but one fry was substituted for Sweet Potato Fries. We wanted to see which fry was the best and honestly they both are great, hard to choose one over the other so I guess it depends on what mood you're in. The buns on the burgers were super soft, just like I like it and though the burger looks small it's super filling and it comes stacked but I'm a picky eater so I removed some things BUT I still enjoyed everything. You have the choice to sit inside or outside but heads up... The inside does get crowded because it is a bit small so keep that in mind. They also have a bar you can also sit at as well, so if you want that special juice have at it lol. There's so much I wanted to try but there's always next time. The buns were good, had a mild sweetness to them. I imagine if the burger had some kick, the sweetness of the bun would have definitely gone together well. The fries came with the burger, were nice and crisp but you didn't get many. Service: It may have been the specific time I came (2:30 on a Sunday) but the servers seemed a bit harried. I walked up to the bar and the bartender answered my questions but he looked rather flustered. The food took a bit long to come out. Once I received my food, a waitress did come check on me.
