I have had this location book marked for quite some time, most likely it ended up on some sort of best (fill in blank) list. I finally made it yesterday for lunch. First off, parking is not fun... I ended up having to park up the street about a block and a half. Walking in... I was met with more of a "bar atmosphere" and I expected, which is not bad, but I am not a drinker, and and don't make it a habit of going to bars. Having said this, rest assured my three star review has nothing to do with that aspect. It's your "typical" sports bar. Plenty of TVs... Stage for live music... Pool tables... Video games, etc. I sat myself and was approached pretty quickly by the bartender. The bartender gave me her honest opinion between two items on the menu, and I ended up going with the patty melt. Food came out quickly. Food was hot. I'm not a huge fan of natural cut fries to begin with... But in general, I found the fries still a little bit "soggy"... Could've been crispier. The patty melt was plenty large. However, the garlic aïoli, which was fantastic caused the toast had become soggy and mushy toward the end. I had the philly cheese steak, and the rest of the fam (kids included) had burgers. Everyone loved their meal. We went on a Sunday after church, so it was fairly quiet. The kids were entertained by the games (arcade, basketball, 'the claw') while we waited for our food. Some of the games weren't working. Some games took quarters/dollars, and some took a credit card. The atmosphere is a casual/divey sports bar. It definitely has a local casual feel to it with lots of large tvs to catch a variety of sports. It is kid friendly, but I wouldn't bring them there past early dinner on a Friday or Saturday. read more

This bar is not safe for the LGBTQ+ community. While we were there, a guy kept staring at my sister. Not a glance--full, unbroken eye contact that felt aggressive and intimidating. When she looked back, instead of stopping, he said "What's up with all this Bud Light propaganda everywhere?" It was obvious what he meant, and it was meant to make her uncomfortable. Yes It worked. What's worse is that the staff did nothing. No one checked in, no one shut it down, no one made it clear that behavior like that isn't acceptable. When a bar allows that kind of harassment to happen, it sends a clear message. A bar should never feel threatening just because of who you are. If you're LGBTQ+ or an ally, I recommend spending your money somewhere that cares about inclusivity and safety. This place does not. read more

I had high hopes for this place, seemed like a cool spot for a cold beer and a burger after work. The place could use some cleaning, service was a bit slow but I feel like that's the case for a lot of places since COVID. Everyone's seems to be short staffed and that's understandable. The glass I got looked dirty and was chipped on the rim. The burger started off strong with the flavor. It was not medium like advertised and more on the well done side. In fact the patty had a thick layer of burnt on one side, like it was placed on the grill for a little too long. Dive bar with a full scale menu! Punk, skate and comic book memorabilia adorns the space with a couple arcade games and a pool table. The 80's goth and darkwave music on the radio was a nice departure from the music in most restaurants in SA. It's a really special and beautiful old building; there's just an...aroma...of something unpleasant you can detect as soon as you walk in. It's not that old beer scent you'd expect in a dive, but it smells "unsafe". I can't put my finger on it. Maybe mold or sewer issues? Whatever it is needs attention before it gets worse. Was weirded out by it and had the notion to leave, but I'm glad we stayed because the food and service was fast and good. We were greeted quickly and told to order at the bar. Service was fast and pleasant. Our queso and chips were just okay (the queso is too similar to straight up nacho cheese for me), but the burgers were excellentttt! Super juicy, plus they came out quick -- I was surprised at the high quality of the burgers for being a bar. The ranch was great and tasted house made. We were super full when we left! Fast service and great food. What else do you need in your neighborhood restaurant/bar? Nothing in my book. I stopped by for the first time for lunch not long before Corona put everything on lock down and loved it so much I have ordered to-go from there twice since being in quarantine! The service was amazing and quick. As soon as my table sat down we were immediately greeted by our friendly waitress. Upon ordering, everyone's food was delivered hot and steaming (and correct) on the table in under 15 minutes. Being from the south, I have a weakness for good pimento cheese and Broadway 5050's homemade pimento is legit. The pimento cheese burger was juicy, flavorful, and the pimento was the perfect flavor enhancement to take the burger on overdrive. I substituted tater tots for fries and let's face it, you can never go wrong with tots. I look forward to dining in and trying more items off the menu once quarantine has been lifted and so should you! read more

So we went there as we had read great things. One bartender/server and one cook on a busy Saturday evening. I get that but it shouldn't take close to 40 minutes to get a beer. And that was because I went to the bar to remind the guy we were still waiting for our first beer. Burgers were ok. I ordered the plain Jane, my wife orders the burger with cheese and our friend ordered the burger with pimento cheese! Decent ! Up charges for burgers that wanted onion rings in place of rings. 9 beers amongst 3 people. Total bill $135 with tip. Bit steep. Burgers were decent but not worth a $135 tab. My wife and I were looking for a quick bite to eat the other evening and wound up at Broadway 50/50 which I'd been keen on visiting for some time. The inside is what you'd expect from the outside. Somewhat divey, but with its own charm. This is my kind of place. Seating is open and we chose a cozy little booth in a corner across from the bar. The seats were worn but with enough give still left in the springs to be comfortable. The waitress greeted us and offered menus. Unsurprisingly, this place is geared towards drinks, and we arrived during happy hour and its cheap beer. The menu gave enough variety I needed a few minutes to consider my options. It's your basic bar with food fare. Burgers, sandwiches, salads, and interesting appetizers. The burgers are Pulp Fiction themed, (Royale with Cheese, Big Kahuna, Vincent Vega, etc). I opted for the "09'r Eleven" with no bun, a spicy burger with ghost pepper cheese, fried egg, and jalepenos, chipotle mayo, red onions, lettuce, and a tomato. It was delicious. Brought the heat, but not in an unpleasant way. The fries were perfectly crisp and they've got seasoning salt at the tables as well as the usual salt and pepper. Nice touch. We also split an order of Chicken Diablos. Chicken and jalapeños wrapped with peppered bacon then deep fried and served with a side of ranch dressing. Wickedly good little dish. As I already stated, its got a pretty divey vibe to it while managing to still be inviting, clean, and fun. Bicycle hanging from the ceiling; Giant skull in the corner; Funky decor. There's a pool table and a couple arcade games (Mortal Kombat, The Simpsons), darts. Seems like it would be a lot of fun later at night. They do have a small stage and Karaoke as well as trivia nights. We will most definitely be back to explore more. read more

Cute place down Broadway, BUT beware... when you walk in, on a beautiful overcast day with only 2 tables with people, DO NOT expect a hi or welcome. My family of 3 sat ourselves down, hoping to catch a little March Madness and a good burger. I went to the counter and asked to see a menu, a kind gentleman pointed at one, and said someone would be with us soon. My husband went to the men's room, returned, then I went to the ladies room, btw, NO paper towels to dry hands, did have tp, thank goodness. When I got back, still not one waitress greeted us, or took our order, we sat another 10 to 15 minutes and decided to leave. Terrible customer service for sure...must be for people they know... not sure if it's because we're Hispanic, I hope not, but was awful service for sure!! read more

It appears to be your usual neighborhood bar. That is, most of the patrons are from the surrounding area, namely Alamo Heights. I sat at the bar not really knowing what to expect. Everybody seemed to know each other and I knew no one. The bartenders were friendly and served me right away. The karaoke setup was good: low level stage to hop up on, dual microphones with stands, easy to read monitors, good sound, KJ Cloud. The only reason I'm not giving four stars is because I seemed to have been forgotten in the karaoke queue. As more of the regulars showed up, I was moved down the line. I'm a firm believer in fair, which means keep your initial rotation and filter in the newcomers. I'd probably still go back and give it another shot. read more

I was excited to try this place because the website made it look like a great spot for a drink and a burger. Unfortunately, when my friend and I walked in, we were not greeted at all. When we walked in we weren't sure if we needed to just sit at a table or order at the bar then sit. We decided to just sit and the bartender did eventually come over. She does both positions I suppose. Now, on an occasion where the establishment was busy I'd be cutting her a TON of slack. However, there were two people at the bar who had already been served and two people in the back somewhere. Absolutely no reason for the complete lack of service we received. She came to get our drink orders about 10 minutes after we arrived. Then for our food order when she brought our drinks back (no idea how long that would've taken if we weren't ready to order yet) she then brought out our food and that was it. Not a single other visit the entire time we were there. Which was a little over an hour. Anytime we needed something we had to go up to the bar to ask for it as she was typically texting in the corner of the bar or talking on the phone. We got the bacon cheeseburger and the Philly cheesesteak. Both came with fries. The Philly cheesesteak was delicious! Really really good. Friend said the burger was good but fries were not good. The thing is, I like soggy fries and these were definitely that. However, I understand that the majority of people do not. They were extremely soggy but well seasoned! To be honest, I would come back for this meal despite the service, but may bring someone a bit more brave than I was. It's a bit dark which I actually enjoy, and wasn't dirty but wasn't clean either. This bar has been my girlfriend's favorite karaoke spot for several years now. She has made many memories here and enjoys the reasonably priced drinks and friendly bar tenders.  She was back in town last month and we all met up at the bar for a fun night of karaoke. The karaoke was great, but we were disappointed in the rest of the night. First off, the entire bar smelled like sewage water. Second, none of the regular bar tenders were there. We were told that all the former staff was fired, and new staff was hired. The new bartenders were nice but at one point we had to wait awhile to order because they were busy shotgunning red bulls in front of us. When they finally made my girlfriend's drink, they gave it to the wrong person and it sat on the bar unwatched for almost ten minutes. When she asked where her drink was, they pointed to the drink that had been out on the bar in front of a large group. She dumped it, because that's how you get drugged, drinking an unattended drink. The staff was not attentive, and this lack of attention to detail could enable dangerous situations. When we got the bill, it was outrageously high. We ordered the same number of well drinks we normally, and the price was almost 20 dollars higher than it normally is at 57 dollars. we were appalled at the overall price, considering what we were used to paying. My girlfriend is extremely sad that 50/50 has changed for the worse. read more

Had never been there before, but my sister had she said the burgers were good but I decided to try the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and it was dry and taste less it was suppose to come with cheese red and green bell pepper and onions I'm partly blind so couldn't see very well plus it's dark in there. And there was no one there it was empty and it was lunch time that should have been a hint. Any way we were a party of 3 for lunch they had the pattiemelt and wings they said their plate was ok the wings were eaten the pattie melt half was taken home I took a couple of bites and decided to take it home as well the bellpeper and onions were just bits and pieces and the cheese was Swiss they didn't have provolone the fries looked burned but tasted old and were like the last droppings in the tray. I won't be going back not for the pattie melt with sweet potatoes and tea, hot wings and water, Philly cheesesteak and water $60.00 bucks nope not worth it. Great Bar... fair amount of beer options, cool indie music usually, every now and then they get a DJ, but also plays cool music. Claims to be the official Arsenal support club of SA... so it's cool sports bar option too. They have some arcade machines and game tables, cool after work hang out spot. Lots of college people usually hang here since IWU is literally across the street. The food is OKAY... they definitely have room to improve, BUT!!! Is a bar is not supposed to be perfect. I ordered the philly sandwich. It was a little too salty and the bread was way to big. The fries were meh.. but again is a bar and not a gourmet restaurant... wouldn't really complain . They're very strict about ID-ing people so maje sure you bring your ID. If you're from Another country bring a passport, they're kind if picky with ID's. read more
