Talk about an exceptional brunch spot near the Quarry! What a terrific southern home cooked offering. The flavors were total yumminess and our waiter, Gabriel, was a breath of fresh air and a perfect combination of what a waiter should be in this truly unique home cooking spot. Loved the architectural design and the mirror ceiling and the ambiance made us feel welcome. Can't wait to return to checkout the wonderful menu. Don't miss this restaurant!

This place is GREAT! I love their steak and eggs from the brunch menu. It's such a neat place with delicious food and excellent drinks. Each time we visit it's always spectacular service and the quality of the food never differs. The restaurant is clean and beautifully decorated. The patio area is very neat with the airstream trailer options for parties! One of our favorite places to brunch hands down!

I had the opportunity to enjoy an evening at Ida Claire while a great friend was in town. We spent the night catching up over a delicious dinner and a selection of fine whiskey. As the weather unexpectedly turned and heavy rain began to pour, we decided to settle into the bar area and continue the conversation. Adding to the experience, a Spurs game happened to be on, creating an energetic atmosphere throughout the restaurant. While we were reconnecting, the excitement and intensity of the game had everyone's attention, making for a memorable and uniquely San Antonio evening. Ida Claire continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in San Antonio. The food, ambiance, and consistently exceptional service keep me coming back. Every visit delivers a welcoming and enjoyable experience, and this occasion was no exception.

This was a very cute place with plenty of tables. There's also an outside patio. Service was great. Staff is friendly. Food comes out quick and they were able to accommodate food allergies. I have never liked hush puppies but theirs is the best I've ever had. Flavorful without sauce. The sampler is good for three people if you don't cut things up. I really loved the biscuits. My salad was good but a little disappointing. The greens seemed a little wilted but the steak was cooked perfectly. The deviled eggs were exactly what I'd expected but the eggs were a bit small. The best part was finding out they had hummingbird cake on the menu. That's my favorite cake and I never see it. Overall great experience. Would return. Good for date nights.

The atmosphere of this restaurant is amazing. The outdoor seating is so unique just like everything else about this place. We were seated inside quickly and the vibe of this place is quirky in a good way. We ordered the ida Claire biscuits and those are worth getting for the fruit jam alone, very tasty. The harvest Ravioli tasted very fresh. The goat cheese was a nice touch and noodle wasn't overdone at all. The shrimp roll was delicious as well, I loved the added dill to the mixture. Would recommend anyone try this place!

3.5 stars. I'm severely allergic to shellfish and told the waiter to tell the kitchen not to cross contaminate during preparation but he said he couldn't guarantee that. Meal was good small portions in my opinion for the price. Way too loud to be able to talk. For large groups (which we were) they automatically add a 20% tip then have the nerve to ask for more!! I won't be returning.

The brunch vibes were everything! Good music playing and pretty quick service for being busy too! The food was great I enjoy they even have a coffee and match menu. The highlight of our tables dishes were the biscuits and pancakes.

If I could marry some food... this dish would probably be it! The shrimp and grits were so good and creamy. Well seasoned and the shrimp was nice and fresh. In addition the presentation was amazing.

Ida Claire absolutely lives up to the hype! Even on a Tuesday around noon, the parking lot was completely packed--which is always a good sign. Despite the crowd, the service was fantastic. Our server was training someone, and they both did an excellent job--attentive, friendly, and on point the whole time. The carajillo was clearly made with care (and a little love), and it showed in every sip. As for the food, wow--the fried green tomatoes were incredible, and the fried chicken stole the show. It was so dang juicy and full of flavor that I'm already thinking about when I can go back. It's definitely in my top five and is juicier than Thomas Keller's. Bonus excitement: Chef Marylou was there too! Huge fan moment and really cool seeing her run the show. The staff looked genuinely happy. Great food, great drinks, great service, and a little sprinkle of star power--easy 5 stars!

Popped in for brunch. Decided to sit at the bar and take in a college hockey game at the same time. The bartender was nice .. somewhat helpful .. he was new. Love French press coffee .. refills on me. The grits are old fashioned ... yum and cooked right! The Monte Cristo was a little off today ... heavy handed on the ham, the bacon was barely cooked.

August the first my beautiful wife and I met up here with our good friends Robert and Brandi. Ida Claire is a very uniquely decorated home style restaurant with a very limited but adequate and delicious menu. Tim was our waiter and he was amazing. Cocktails are tasty and not overly strong or pre mixed. The grilled half chicken and garden ravioli is my favorite and strongest recommendation. This is a great place to meet with friends and enjoy a delicious meal.

Such a great restaurant, to enjoy brunch with friends or family. I really loved the atmosphere. The food is delicious and generously portioned. I loved that each person at the table received their own kettle for coffee refills.

Repeat customer. Dine with a large group that made a table reservation in advance for a Saturday, 12 noon in January. The spicy cauliflower dish posted online was not on the table menu. The server arranged for the cauliflower appetizer. Delicious. I highly recommend. Great service. Parking is extremely limited so arrive early so you have time to park across the street at nearby lots and walk over. Prices in line with full service restaurant.

Ask the Community - Ida Claire

Are dogs welcome in the outdoor eating area?

Yes, dogs are allowed, but they must be kept on a leash/collar and remain well-behaved at all times.

Are the high top tables communal tables? :). Thanks :)

No, the high top tables are normally for larger parties 6 to 8 people.

Is this wheel chair friendly?

Yes, there is a wheelchair ramp to get to the entrance. They have a spacious outdoor dining area. Indoors, most of the aisles are wide enough for a wheelchair and there are a few family size tables that are easily accessible.

Do they have children's menus or kid options by any chance?

Yes!

Is the outside patio dog friendly?

I saw dogs on the patio the last time I sat outside. Of course the folks with dogs sat further away from the door as I think so no one has a tripping incident. Bob appetite.

I've never been and I see outdoor seating is available. I assume there is also indoor seating?

There is plenty of indoor seating. Nice atmosphere.

Can we reserve the airstream trailer for a party of 12?

I know you can reserve but not sure how many. You can call them to check to make sure. Cheers

Is the patio seating open for friendly pups?

Yes

Is it ok for kids?

Yah, there are always kids there My 9yr old love the food there!

Is there brunch on the weekdays?

Brunch is not served during week days although some brunch-like menu items are available.

Thank you for the helpful tips but there's no waitlist nor are they accepting reservations?

You can join the waitlist from Yelp

Do you have any Vegan options?

I called yesterday and they told me currently there are no vegan/vegetarian options

Looking to take a large group maybe 10 or more. Will they be able to sit us all together?

It might be a bit tricky, but I believe they would try. I would call ahead.

Has anyone been around 11am Sunday morning? Is it really busy?

That's a great time! They have inside sitting and outside. Great food!

Do they have vegan options?

Their menu is seasonal, so this answer may change, but YES, do they do have vegan options! The breakfast menu has a Superseed Granola plate. The lunch and dinner menus have a plethora of options including a sharable hummus plate, fried green…

Do they have gluten-free options?

Yes they do.

How long does Vinyl Hour last?

I ordered one of their craft beers and we got some french fries on the side just to offset the sweet. Definitely a great dessert if you are not wanting something too sweet or two filling. We also had the snapper throats and loved them. The aioli was a great sauce with them. I had the gulf catch of the day, which was grouper, and it was so good. Great seasoning, perfectly flaky and moist, a nice crust on the outside. With that we had some jalapeno corn bread which was also delicious. Not too dry at all. I was hoping for it to be spicy but it was not. For dessert, I gad panna cotta and it was a great ending. Not too sweet, but the berries made up for that. The lavender meringue bites had a great crunch. Our server (Maya) was excellent. She was so friendly and helpful. Finally, the decor is unmatched anywhere. It used to be a brewery and they kept the old pipes and valves, which look very cool. It has a great vibe. I highly recommend. Without the need to, I'll mention anyway that it's not cheap. But it's worth it.

The cabbage was somewhat spicy, the cornbread muffin was a half muffin, the muffin did not fill up the cupcake muffin wrapper. My daughter ordered meatloaf, a pork chop plate, Mac & cheese, collard greens, cornbread muffin, a tropical punch beverage and banana pudding which I felt the pudding was watered down vs. being thick. She asked for medium cooked pork chops and one pork chop was medium and one pork chop was over cooked. She notified the cashier and he stated they both were cooked at temp the same time. The collard greens were spicy and the Mac & cheese were watered down. I had to go to the restroom. This was the worst restroom in any restaurant I have ever used. First, there was no light on, I had to ask for light and one of the employees turned on the light. Secondly, there was an awful hole in the top right corner ceiling, I was afraid to use the restroom for fear of some bug crawling in through the ceiling hole. Third, there was also a hole in the wall visible behind the toilet tank top, again I was afraid to set down on the toilet and the whole bathroom decor was unappealing. When other patrons described this establishment as as "HOLE IN THE WALL" they were absolutely correct. Don't forget about the hole in the ceiling! Entering into the building, the walls and ceiling were black, making the atmosphere sad. There was also a small bar to the left of the dining area. They have a full bar with anything you can imagine, and plenty of non-alocholic options for those of us who don't drink. We weren't super hungry so I decided to just order a few items from their menu that we could snack on. Their pretzel was probably the best pretzel we've ever had (like ever, I am not kidding). The bread was super soft and it was actually semi-sweet which blended perfectly with the salt on top. Then I order their chicken wings and let me tell you, those wings were fire. I have no idea how they season them, but they taste heavenly. I also order a quesadilla with fries for my kid, and he devoured it in seconds. I got to try his fries and they were equally delicious. Frankly, I was expecting your regular bar food, but I was so wrong. One last thing, please keep in mind that since they are a bar, kids are not allowed after 9pm.
