The food was good however, I don't eat salt so, the taste was very strong to my brothers and I. There was also a strong garlic taste in the smothered chops. The fish was very good... flaky and crispy. We visited on Saturday around 1230 however, there was only one very pleasant young lady working the front. As a result, when refills were desired or more tartar sauce, we had a mild wait for her to circle back to our table. Still, it was a very pleasurable experience. IMO, the stars of this establishment are the desserts. We tried the peach cobbler, banana pudding and sweet potato pie. All three were AMAZING! When you eat there, you must try them, you will not be sorry.

I saw them on Elder Eats and they recently reopened in a different location! They still have great food! I went by late Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was packed with about a half dozen customers waiting for takeout orders. After being seated for about five to seven minutes no one came to the table to take our order, so we decided to get everything to go. There is plenty of seating and it took about 25 minutes to get our order. If they had a couple more employees to handle cleaning the tables and floors in a timely manner I think that would help with customer satisfaction. Casual dinning.

Food was delicious, small basic Soul Food menu. I had the catfish, crispy and tender. My wife had the meatloaf, just a tad too much garlic but still good. Great service Highly recommended

My daughter & I dined at this restaurant for lunch and the food was very good. I wanted oxtails, but this dish is only served on Saturday. I suggested to the waitress that the menu reflect that oxtails are served only on Saturday. I ordered the catfish plate with yams & fried okra. Cornbread came with the meal but the cornbread was not fresh, so the waitress gave me a fresh piece of cornbread. The yams were to die for and the fried okra was fried too hard but I ate the fried okra anyway because I was hungry. The red kool-aid was just right! The catfish was cooked perfect and everything was seasoned just right. My daughter ordered the meatloaf plate with Mac & cheese, collard greens and cornbread, she also ordered fried pork chops with brown gravy - superb! She had to exchange the meatloaf which tasted like leftover for more of those wonderful fried pork chops!! Now the collard greens were a bit spicy for my daughter but I loved the kick they had. Then, we ordered banana pudding, peach cobbler & sweet potato pie. I would return to Mama Lou's just for the desserts!!! RECOMMENDATION: If you are looking for a great meal, lunch or dinner, Mama Lou's is the place!

I was in the neighborhood and thought I'd get chicken but it is closed. There is a dig. That says Helados Cremi coming soon. So sad.

The food was delicious, however, the air conditioning was working so it was kind of hot. They had fans, but it didn't compete with the Texas sun. The service was great, however, they only had one waitress and you could tell that she was overworked. It was a bit overpriced as well.

    OXTAIL DINNER

Thus is the third time I've had food from thus restaurant. Only the last time because a friend brought it to me. Each time I had oxtail. I got about six little tiny bones from the tail and one medium. Buried in rice with shreds of meat in sauce. Who can find an ox this little? I order potatoes I got rice because it buries them into the gravy. I have spoken to the owner about them once before. He offered a replacement meal, but never was avail. Too busy each time. When my friend offered I said nothing to give them the benefit of a doubt. I've had good oxtail. Thus is NOT the place to get them. The sides were also very skimpy. Oxtail plate are too expensive to receive scraps...everything. Is it because they were deliveries months apart. No sir. Do your people better.

My search led me to Nuttin Betta....a fitting name, because you really aren't going to find better Cajun food in these parts of Texas. I ordered carry out online through Uber Eats. The ordering process was easy, and the employees actually read my notes requesting hot sauce and utensils. Attention to detail like that is crucial when you're ordering carry out. The restaurant itself was very clean, and it's clear the owner takes pride in the appearance and experience they give their customers. I'm excited to explore more of their menu.

This is again where I wish we could give half stars, cause this was 4.5 for me. Nuttin Betta had…read morebeen on my list to stop in for way too long. And it was always "when I'm in the area." Well today I made it my area cause I came out that way just to eat there. Being from New Orleans I always try to his Cajun spots and support. So was glad to make it in. My son and I were greeted as soon as we came in. We grabbed a seat and they offered us drinks as we waited for his mom to join us. Not a huge place and there was steady business between to go and people sitting in. The music was on point. And there were many relics of home. The pictures of the projects from NOLA on walls on to the bathroom made me pause and take them in. If you know you know. As for the food, my son got chicken tenders, his usual, I got a fried catfish and shrimp plate, a bowl of gumbo, and 3 of the Cajun dry rub wings. My son's mom got a crab and shrimp boil. My son's tenders were legitimately huge. He got 5 and could only finsh three. This is a kid who eats 20 McDonald's nuggets. So they were huge loI I tried the gumbo and the first flavor I got was red beans and rice. But it worked. The roux was more subtle but it had a good bit of shrimp and a lot of sausage. And a couple crab legs. I did enjoy it. Not the best gumbo I've had in San Antonio but I'd still order it every time I eat here. If you get the Cajun dry rub wings, do not inhale before, during or after you eat them. That rub will spice your throat quick lol make sure you drink something in between. But they were fine. The shrimp were fried perfect. The cafish was fried harder than I like. But thats a preference. It tasted great but I like my wings crispy and my catfish just lightly coated. Cause when you eat the tail it's like just a big crunchy with no meat cause it's all fried out. Again my preference. It was still very good and the meaty bits were delicious. I tasted some of the boil and it seemed the seafood might have been boiled then had the sauces poured over it? The shrimp didn't have a lot of flavor on their own unless you dippwdy them in the sauce. My son's mom said she felt like that about the whole boil including the crab. Tasty still tho. Oh their sweet tea, swamp water and kool-aid all get high marks. All in all so glad I came and will be back. Preference things aside it was really good. Maybe when gas prices go down haha jk y'all got a fan.

Highly recommend all of their flavors, especially the garlic Parmesan and funnel cake. Anything hot is always delicious but it's nice to do something different from time to time. The service was very nice and helpful, the lady who we ordered from even told us the most popular wings as well as her favorites. The wings were cooked perfectly and the flavors were fantastic. I ordered 4 of the original buffalo just to get a baseline of their take on the classic flavor and I'd have to say this was not my favorite. Although the other two flavors I got were delicious. The decor on the walls are cool pictures of the owner and also showcased a lot of the awards the place has won. Overall I enjoyed the Wings!
