Our first time at Babe's, but certainly won't be the last! The chicken was super crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside, or in other words: perfect! The house-made mashed potatoes were delish with a nice brown gravy. A new item cole slaw was tasty and my husband liked the collard greens. Nice surprise on the bread: Sweet Hawaiian roll with each meal. I ordered a 2 piece with an upgrade to breast and thigh; my husband ordered the 4 piece - we both enjoyed the meal. Don't let the humble exterior fake you out - this chicken is a hidden gem! Only a few tables inside, but a brisk drive-thru business option as well. Gender-neutral restroom. Plenty of parking. Convenient location, just off I35.

12 piece chicken, mashed potatoes and fries

First time going to Babe's Crispy Chicken this afternoon . We went thru the drive thru and ordered the 12 piece chicken with a half pint mashed potatoes w/ gravy on the side and half fries. The chicken was really good. It was crispy and had good flavor. I would definitely order the chicken again. The mashed potatoes were good, but they never gave us our gravy, so they were too dry without it. We didn't eat them. The fries were good, but by the time we got home 15 minutes later, they were rubbery, we didn't even eat half of them. So the only reason for the 4 stars is for the chicken. We will definitely be back, but only for the chicken. I would suggest not ordering the fries unless you are going to eat them right away. And not ordering the mashed potatoes if you don't like chunky mashed potatoes.

It was our first time visiting tonight. The chicken was 10/10! It was very juicy, extra crunchy, and flavorful. The mashed potatoes with brown gravy were good. I would pass on the Mac and cheese next time. It was dry and wasn't very memorable.

4 piece mix of friend chicken breast and legs. With French fries and a roll and coleslaw.

You're walking along the desert plains...along Nacogdoches Rd, when suddenly, over the horizon, you spot a sign...or is it? You squint, and rub your eyes to make sure that it isn't a mirage. You realize it's not. You have stumbled onto an oasis of refreshment! As you step through the doors and feel that blast from the air curtain, you have arrived. As you survey the area, you spot an endless array of bubbling fountains, as far as the eye can see...a nirvana...nay, a Teavana. No, strike that. I must be thinking of a different tea place that no longer exists. Where was I? Oh yes, the infinite fountains of flavor; from the sweetened to unsweetened, the flavor combinations are endless. I have heard rumors that there are 502,789,463,081,222 flavor combos that you can try. I have visited multiple locations around the greater San Antonio area in the year that I have lived here, and I have tried approximately 2 flavor combinations. So, I guess I have my work cut out for me. There are plenty of sizes to choose from, 5 to be exact. 24oz, 32oz, 40oz, 44oz (foam cup), and a 51oz. You can also get gallon sizes as well. Mini, Half, and full Gallon. Also, they have some of the most luxe ice around. Myself, I prefer no ice in my drinks. (I like to get my money's worth) You can also add fresh fruit mix-ins: lemon, lime, and/or orange slices, as well as cherries. One thing that I would love to be able to see is, maybe set out some flavored creamers or syrups, as to enhance the experience, by being able to customize your own drinks. Probably too much of an ask. But, the suggestion has at least been made. Also, just in case you need your coffee fix, they got you. As well as hot chocolate, hot tea, snacks, lip balm, and they even have bulk water and ice available for purchase, not to mention plenty of branded merch. Overall, this a definitely a great place to come and quench your thirst. In my experience, the staff has always been friendly, as they greet you when you come in, and usually thank you for coming in and invite you back. Every location that I have been to has been spotless and well organized. Thank goodness I never have to travel too far to have my beverage needs met.

The positives first: the food was hot, fresh, and clearly made to order, which we always appreciate. The display case was filled with beautiful, tempting desserts that definitely caught our attention. If you have a sweet tooth, that alone might make the stop worthwhile. The breakfast menu leans toward classic, home-style staples--pancakes, hash browns, eggs, sausage--simple and familiar comfort food. While everything was prepared well, nothing particularly stood out or felt unique compared to other traditional breakfast spots. Service during our visit was a bit slow and didn't feel especially warm or attentive. The staff appeared to be family-run, which often adds charm to a place, but we didn't experience the kind of welcoming, lively atmosphere you might expect from a family-style restaurant. It seemed like everyone may have just been having a long day. My husband usually prefers Tex-Mex or breakfast tacos, and since I don't indulge in bacon and eggs very often, I tend to look for a breakfast spot that really wows us when we do go that route. While Williams delivered solid, made-to-order food, it just didn't quite "hit it out of the park" for us this time. That said, every restaurant can have an off morning, and others may have a different experience--especially given the positive reviews that brought us in.

We got sick from these drinks…read more Former coffee shop and specialty tea shop barista here. My fiancé and I picked up a couple of drinks this morning from On The Grind, and our stomachs are royally paying for it. I'd like to start out by saying that the baristas were super delightful and cheerful despite having just opened up while it was still dark outside at 5 am. They were great, I just wish I could say the same about the drinks. We ordered the Sandlot, blended with 'the works,' and an iced Grasshopper alongside a Blueberry Muffin Top. The Sandlot was supposed to be a s'mores beverage, but the flavors were too muddled to identify anything resembling a s'more. The syrup was too sweet and chemically and did NOT work well with the chocolate. It felt like they were at odds against one another in the drink, there was absolutely no marshmallow taste, and to top it all off the espresso was burnt. We had to really mix the chocolate up from the bottom to try to cut said burnt espresso taste, but that just made the clashing of flavors even worse. The Grasshopper was sour. I initially thought it might be the creme de menthe battling with the white chocolate as the flavors once again did not balance with each other in the slightest, but no, the drink was sour. This drink was not mixed well, the burnt espresso growing more offensive with each sip. We'd hoped the Blueberry Muffin Top would help get rid of the downright foul and lingering taste of these drinks from our tastebuds, but it just added to the chaos tasting like a slightly more upscale Little Debbie mini muffin, chemicals and everything. It was too sweet and needed something more bitter to pair with it, but the coffees were far too nasty and bitter to warrant consumption. My fiancé and I will typically finish drinks that we've purchased, even if we're not fans of them, since we consider it a waste of money not to. We put these beverages down after we consumed a little less than a quarter of each one because they were legitimately undrinkable. Between the burnt espresso, sour liquid, and disgusting syrups, we had to tap out. We couldn't even make it through half of the Muffin Top. I'm thankful that we didn't force ourselves to eat or drink more of these because we are in wicked physical pain right now. If I wasn't so ill I would be more livid as an ex-barista that they thought it was okay to serve these to customers. I'd leave a one star for the garbage quality and food poisoning alone but the baristas genuinely were so kind to us, so it gets two.
