Came in for dinner the other night, got the 8 piece dark combo with mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. It fed 3 of us with some to spare! The chicken is juicy, crispy and flavorful. The mac and cheese and mash potatoes seemed like something mom would make, definitely not boxed stuff here! They served King's Hawaiian rolls and while not a traditional biscuit, it went perfectly with the chicken. Pro-tip: dip your roll in the brown gravy and experience nirvana! Dining room is tiny, like 4 or 5 tables, and while we were the only ones in there, I can imagine it getting packed during prime time. We were driving through the area and wanted to try out this place. It had decent reviews and we were in the mood for chicken. When walking inside it had an old school hole in the wall feel to it and you can smell the chicken in the air. We ended up ordering the specials, and the employee behind the counter was so kind and even helped us with options. The price was good and the food came out hot and fresh. The house-made mashed potatoes were delish with a nice brown gravy. A new item cole slaw was tasty and my husband liked the collard greens. Nice surprise on the bread: Sweet Hawaiian roll with each meal. I ordered a 2 piece with an upgrade to breast and thigh; my husband ordered the 4 piece - we both enjoyed the meal. It's not great but it's not terrible either. The chicken is definitely crispy but almost flavorless. The young lady who I think is a manager was beyond kind but I wholeheartedly regret spending that $33.01 (added a $2 tip). The fries were ok but okra was a no. Make sure you ask for fresh chicken because if not you'll get the chicken that's been sitting there like we did. read more

My combo came with 2 sides so I opted for mashed potatoes and collared greens. Loved having the chicken with the gravy. Reminds me of Chicken Joy from Jollie Bee. So... that said... i didnt understand why i couldnt get "new side" okra, as one of my 2 sides on my combo. it was same price - 3.99 as 4 outta 5 other sides i could have. but i WAS happy they had collard greens. upcharge for my request of breast & leg on my 2 piece - there was no designation as to white, dark, mixed on combos. we got a 2 pc and 3 pc combo as well as an extra side of okra for around $30. combos came with 2 sides a roll and a drink. chicken was GREAT! breast was HUGE! like it was a turkey breast big! breading was crispy and tasty, chicken was moist - white & dark. not greasy at all! okra was great! did not taste like frozen, light breading & okra was TENDER! mac & cheese, creamy & delicious! collards were well seasoned, cut small & TASTY! the only clunker were the fries. hand cut they might have been but they were cold & greasy! the trash can ate em right up! so, i'd go back for the food (sans the fries) dining in would depend. there are only a handful of tables. but if you are looking for some crispy, yummy chicken - check it out! read more

False Advertising in a Paper Tray Had high hopes walking into Babe's Crispy Chicken--but what I got felt more like Babe's Lukewarm Disappointment. The chicken was limp, soggy, and had zero crunch. KFC's crispy is levels above this, and that's honestly embarrassing. The greens? Mostly stems, and tasted like someone dumped a can of Glory greens straight onto the plate--no seasoning, no effort. And the mac and cheese? Picture overboiled noodles lost in a puddle of sad, watery cheese sauce. The whole plate felt like it came out of a school lunch line that ran out of budget. Even Luby's--yes, cafeteria king Luby's--would've done it better. This ain't it. Bottom line: if disappointment had a sampler plate, this would be it. read more

First time going to Babe's Crispy Chicken this afternoon . We went thru the drive thru and ordered the 12 piece chicken with a half pint mashed potatoes w/ gravy on the side and half fries. The chicken was really good. It was crispy and had good flavor. I would definitely order the chicken again. The mashed potatoes were good, but they never gave us our gravy, so they were too dry without it. We didn't eat them. The fries were good, but by the time we got home 15 minutes later, they were rubbery, we didn't even eat half of them. So the only reason for the 4 stars is for the chicken. We will definitely be back, but only for the chicken. I would suggest not ordering the fries unless you are going to eat them right away. And not ordering the mashed potatoes if you don't like chunky mashed potatoes. read more

The breasts are from some kind of gargantuan chicken. Tender and juicy. I think I may do 2 pc chicken only, next time, and upgrade to breasts. I thought the mashed potatoes were good, but the gravy needs a little more flavor. Cole slaw was good, Mac and cheese was good, husband said okra was good. Since Mrs. Kitchen soul food kitchen closed I had been looking for something close to their fried chicken, and oh have I found something very close I Babes crispy fried chicken. They have a winner so far and I've already been back three times to see if they are consistent and oh I have yet to be disappointed.
