For a starter we shared the cornbread with another couple and it was plenty for 4 people. If you are from out of town and looking for some Texas-shaped vittles or just want something substantial to stretch your meal I recommend it! Very tasty and filling. For my main I had the scallops with creamed corn risotto. It was a dainty portion but the flavors were nice. My husband had the short rib tagliatelle which he loved. It was very rich and filling. We had the buttermilk pie again for dessert and this time it tasted sweeter than I remembered. It was good but we couldn't finish it. Idk if it was my tastebuds or if it was different. We arrived in San Antonio after an 11+ hour road trip from New Orleans. By 7 pm hubs wanted dinner as soon as we checked into our hotel. Checked Yelp for dinner suggestions so Doc drove us to the paid lot next to where all the Cinderella lit up carriages drawn by horses were lined up. It seemed the boats going up and down the River portion of the Walk were busier. While we were walking I had my eyes open for a table with a view. We stopped at Four Brothers. The receptionist went over suggestions on the menu on her outdoor podium. Cornbread in the shape of Texas, shareable items like Dino ribs for $82, plus Pork Shank and ice tea completed our order. Everyone was very friendly. We had an exceptional view and we had more than enough food that we had to ask for take out boxes. My favorite was the Mac & cheese though I'm usually not a fan. This dish used cork screw shaped pasta and it was moist and not stuck together. I had to share a photo of it with Sweetie who is in Tokyo right now. Doc liked the pimento for the cornbread. As it was almost 9 pm we decided to pass on the boat ride but just walk on the other side with shops and more eateries. We're back on the road again tomorrow to Arizona. read more

The River Walk in San Antonio is a master illusionist. It presents itself as a parade of "fine dining" establishments--linen here, candle there--many of which, once seated, quietly confess they are just restaurants in costume. Four Brothers, however, is not pretending. It is genuinely beautiful, restrained, elegant without being smug, and staffed by servers who seem to understand hospitality as a calling rather than a shift. I visited on a Friday night, the river humming with its usual mix of tourists, locals, and second-date nerves. There was live local music, which--bless its heart--landed somewhere between Top 20 countdown radio and its slightly more confused cousin. It wasn't offensive, just repetitive, like a song you didn't ask for looping in the background of an otherwise excellent evening. Now, Four Brothers is known for its steaks. This is spoken of in the way people speak of legends. I believe them. But on this particular night, I was not in a steak mood. I was in a "just give me a damn burger" mood--an emotional state many of us know well. Before that, cornbread arrived in the shape of Texas. It was good, respectable, politely sweet, but did not sing freedom, independence, or Willie Nelson. It simply said, "Hello, I am cornbread," and sat down. Then came the burger. Reader, I am not exaggerating. This was the best burger I have ever eaten. Not one of the best. Not "top five." The best. Ever tasted. Ever experienced. Ever met. This burger is not ostentatious. It is not trying to impress you with truffle foam, unnecessary aioli, or a manifesto about itself. It is smoky, perfectly balanced, deeply satisfying, and almost unsettling in how complete it feels. The bun is healthy without being preachy. The beef--topped with beef, as God and good sense intended--tastes sacred. I know it isn't, but it feels like it was blessed quietly in the kitchen before being sent out. Every bite was majestic. Not flashy. Not loud. Just confident. Like it knew it had already won. What makes this even more impressive is the setting. Four Brothers could easily lean into formality and forget joy. Instead, it delivers elegance with warmth, fine dining without the eye-roll, and a menu that allows for both grandeur and simplicity. That kind of balance is rare--especially on the River Walk. So yes, go for the steak if that's your path. But if you find yourself tired, hungry, and craving something honest in a place that promises polish, order the burger. It may quietly change your understanding of what a hamburger--and a restaurant--can be. Four Brothers isn't pretending. What a find! I'm calling you of mine was visiting from Austin and wanted to try this place that she had found close to her hotel. I had never been here before and must be honest, had never even heard of it. This place was amazing. Beautiful surroundings with excellent service. The cornbread was very good, but when you added the homemade pimento cheese, it was outstanding! We stopped in for an early dinner on our first day of arrival into San Antonio. The location wasn't busy when we got three but when we left around 7, it had gotten much busier. E we sat at the bar and while the bar tender was nice, she spent very little time actually talking to us and in fact, spent most of it at the other end of the bar. I got the dry aged hamburger-delicious! Perfectly cooked, the bus held up and the tomatoes were fresh from the vine! The fries were perfectly crisp! I also had the praline old fashion. This food is so delicious I've been staying at the mansion so I can order room service from this restaurant. I've ordered the chicken and biscuits 4 times! And each time it's so yummy. Once again, this place did not disappoint. We came for dinner prior to a show at the Majestic Theater. Luckily, it also happened to fall during Restaurant Week. The menu at Four Brothers had two options for each course so my daughter and I ordered one of each which allowed us to try each other's meals. I absolutely loved my Beet Salad and I got to enjoy some of my daughter's Chicken Fried Venison. My key lime crème brûlée was pretty good as well. Came in for brunch New Year's Day. My honey's plate and my kiddos pancakes were absolutely fantastic. My brisket and poached eggs were not the move. Best thing on my plate was the biscuits. I tried this place for the first time, and our server was incredibly funny. He also had excellent product knowledge and offered alternatives to accommodate everyone's food preferences, ensuring we all enjoyed our dinner. The cornbread was absolutely delicious. It was heavenly with the accompaniments; my favorite was the pimento cheese, while another person loved the honey. I ended up eating almost half of it myself. They had a special fish dish that evening, and it was cooked perfectly with a red pepper sauce. The ribeye was also cooked beautifully. Their buttermilk pie was one of the best I've ever tasted. A beautiful place for dinner. Quiet, cozy & good service. Corn bread was moist and yummy, I didn't taste much jalapeño. My dish quail on a stick is delicious, I am not a fan of any panko fried meat but this is exception, pickle okra is nicely done. I ate a few spoon out of my husband's chili. We started with the cornbread app, which $14 sounds steep ,but it is huge and comes out in the shape of TX, which is so crafty! I love the butter, pimento cheese, and honey served with it - all were delicious on top of the cornbread! I opted for the burger, which was scrumptious, as it just juiced out when I was taking bites. Came here for brunch on a Sunday. Conveniently located right off the Riverwalk with indoor and outdoor sections available. Beautiful on a warm, sunny day. It was pretty busy so took a little bit to get our orders. I got the breakfast burrito and my wife the brisket Benedict. Stopped in for a few drinks on a Sunday night. Bartender was a dud with no personality. Ordered a few cocktails and some expressos. The guy brought out warm coffee and tried to say it was fresh. The breakfast potatoes had white and purple potatoes which I liked. Service was great. We went on a Sunday around 2 PM. I would have loved to sit outside on the patio next to the river but it was a little too hot. The inside was very intimate! Stopped here while visiting San Antonio for work before heading to a Spurs game. Grabbed a pimento cheese burger and it was very very good. Three of us got burgers all ordered medium, but one of them was more close to well done, so some consistency issues for a $26 burger. Fries are nothing special, I've come to expect hand cut twice fried delicious fries when ordering a gourmet burger, these are just thin pre-frozen fries. I've had many steaks in SA. The pic I attached is of what I feel is perfection. I requested extra horseradish to mix in with the famous Four Brothers sauce and the result was pure ecstasy. The steak was perfectly seasoned and served at the exact temperature I requested. They don't normally serve the full menu in the bar but they made an exception on a slow night. We went for Restaurant Week and were very happy with the offerings. For starters my husband and I each had the wagyu chili and our friends each had the carpaccio. For mains everyone else had the apple glazed salmon and I tried the short rib tagliatelle. It was all very good, although I think the salmon should have come with a side of some type. Our friends ordered a side of fries and they were thin and crispy. My tagliatelle was fantastic. It had a sour cream tasting base - almost like a stroganoff. So yummy! The Samoa cake was like a large Samoa Girl Scout cookie with a chocolate cake base and coconut top. Very unique and tasty. My husband had the churros which were shaped like small donuts and came with plenty of hot caramel and chocolate sauces for dipping. Also very good. I would be terrified to eat here if I had a food allergy or Celiac or some other condition that required a server to be on top of what was going on because our server appeared to have no concept of what was in the dishes or how to handle dietary restrictions. We came here for a Christmas/birthday dinner, so we were having a double celebration. For the price tag of the restaurant, I expected that the service would be better than it was. While our server was very nice, he was not particularly attentive, nor did he seem to be able to answer any questions about the menu without going to ask the kitchen or the manager or something. It felt like he may not have been trained on the menu at all. Maybe it was hard to find someone to work on a holiday, but when a meal is nearly $100 per person, I just sort of expect some level of expertise and attention to detail. We informed him up front up about dietary restrictions, and he didn't listen at all. He even brought cupcakes at the end of the meal that the birthday guest of honor could not eat - and he knew this. He didn't even try to make it right. Someone else at the table had to ask if there was another option. It was just very disappointing for a server at a high-end restaurant to completely ignore the dietary issues that were raised at the beginning in the effort to avoid discomfort. All that said, the lion's mane mushroom steak was pretty terrible. It was an undercooked, chewy mess, but the potatoes on the side were fine. The filet was fine, as was the special holiday offering, so I think there are good items on the menu. The dirty martini was absolutely banging, definitely the highlight of the whole experience. I am a little bummed because we went through a lot of effort to find a nice restaurant for a special occasion, and the whole thing felt like a hassle. read more

I got chilaquiles for takeout to enjoy in my hotel room and they had great service. They even called me when my order was done so I could walk down at that point and not have to wait around. Four Brothers was a last minute drop in place as i was walking along the riverwalk. It was a little quiet at lunch which surprised me since the ambience was so nice and the temperature inside was cool! The wait staff was friendly and didn't even flinch that i was wearing casual walking clothes I ordered their Margarita with Reposado tequila and it was so fabulous i had to order a second!! . The real standout here was the Burger and fries with BBQ seasoning "dust". OMG, first time I've ever prioritized fries over burger and the burger was off the rails fantastic! Cooked perfectly to order as medium rare. Also ordered the steak tartare to go for my husband and that was super special! Even though i was stuffed, i had to try a bite!!
