How have I forgotten this place?! So happy to revisit after a hiatus, cuz their burgers are deelish! Easy, casual order up at counter, seat yourself and menu is posted above. They serve a variety of burgers, sandwiches, wings, dogs, desserts, and meals include either a side of tots, fries, cucumbers with chamoy and lucas, or corn in a cup. Other sides are available as well. This trip since we craved for burgers, ordered: Bistro burger- wonderfully seasoned and cooked, served on sourdough, with avocado, grilled onions and mushrooms, mayo. One thing that should be added, the works, I felt it would be even better with the addition of lettuce, pickles, and tomatoes. I ordered the cucumbers sans chamoy and lucas. I appreciate simple veggies. Mexican burger- excellent! Juicy burger with cheese, jalapenos, pico de gallo, bacon and the works. The tater tots had a nice and crispy outer texture as it should. Overall- very good. Tasty, reasonable, clean, and great service. We'll have to make sure to come back sooner!

Went for lunch and the service was great, cashier was friendly. It is a little pricey however the portions are great. We paid $46 for a cheeseburger, fries medium drink, Frito pie burger with chili cheese tots and a medium drink, and a cheeseburger kids meal. The wait for our food to be ready did take a little while. Although the burgers are thick they could have had more flavor. The area is cute however the inside is a little small but there is additional seating at an outside patio. They also offer lots of sweets as well.

I LOVE THE SHACK. The Dorinachos with beef is just 10/10! Super delicious and loaded with that yummy cheesy beef! The service was great! I didn't know that you could add beef to the Dorinachos but the lady taking our order made a great suggestion and she was very nice! The chili cheese dog is also loaded and yummy! We get it everytime and it never disappoints! They have lots of indoor seating and its super casual. They have a great self service area. I also want to mention that their shakes are amazing! They are the best shakes I ever had - better than any other fast food chain.

This place is amazing!!! I'm upset at myself for not trying it sooner. From the bread to the seasonings everything is delicious. The fries were crunchy and seasoned to perfection they needed no ketchup. Prices were affordable given the portions. Went around lunch time and this place was super busy and they still managed to get my order out in a timely manner. Music was great and seating areas were nice and cozy. They even had outdoor seating. They offer a good variety of hot sauces also. I highly recommend this place and will surely be back!

Food: bomb.com. Good flavor, juicy burgers, not dry at all. My son got a hot dog, and hubby got a chili cheese dog. No complaints. Milkshakes are delicious and a nice size, kids couldn't finish it. Service: quick and friendly. Ordered and sat down to wait for them to call our name. Ambiance: laid back, casual. Enough tables for you to dine in if you wanted.

The Shack offers a unique take on classic American comfort food, primarily focusing on hamburgers and hotdogs, each with an inventive twist. During my visit, I found the hamburgers to be the standout feature. The bread, reminiscent of sweet Hawaiian rolls, added a delightful contrast to the savory fillings, making each bite a delightful experience. The bacon-wrapped hotdogs, while enjoyable, didn't offer anything particularly memorable beyond their expected flavors. They were solid and satisfying, but not extraordinary. But the onions rings were super flavorful i definitely recommend them! The Shack also offers a variety of snacks, ensuring there's something for everyone. Overall, The Shack is a great spot for those looking to indulge in creative takes on hamburgers and hotdogs. While some items stand out more than others, the unique twists on familiar favorites make it worth a visit. The service was fast and easy and the environment was comfy.

One of the best burgers I've had in a while. Love this place and we will return next visit. The place is kinda small and the food takes a minute but it was fresh, hot and well prepared. We all ended up ordering the bacon cheese burger, then tried some of the churros.

[online takeout order] Food: I got the Mexican burger and it was really good, the fries were also great and perfectly seasoned. Service: cashier was very nice and retrieved my order quickly, even did a quick check to make sure my order was correct Ambiance: fun little atmosphere, TV's and music at a decent volume enough to have a convo Will def come back again to try everything else on the menu

Fast service, we got our food quick. Was a lot of people there was hard to find seating but they do have an outdoor area to sit also. I got the Mexican burger and my brother got the mushroom and Swiss burger both really great they offer corn in a cup or cucumber cup as sides instead of fries if h want something different, they also have a lot of good looking sweets to choose from we were so full we didn't have room to try it but we will be back again.

It's been a few years since I've been by; so, I was truly looking forward to getting something. I chose The Brat & tots (plain). I was very happy with my choice. The gentleman greeted me immediately. I thought it would take me a minute, but, as I stated, I chose The Brat immediately. I'm a little high strung from my age, so people kinda chuckle. It's cute. I make me smile. They put the perfect amount of mustard on it too! See the photos, but it comes covered with cabbage & crispy fried onions. It is amazing. I was able to get a whole 1/3 of it eaten before my body shut down. Tot wise, they were hot & perfectly fried! I like to dip mine in ketchup, but they offer you various other dips as well. So, I got ranch cuz, um, of course. Also, I really like their soda brand. I can't remember it, but it's a dia de los muertos skull for the logo, but I love their roots beer, which was my beverage of choice today. It's really a nice little place to just come in & sit & enjoy a yummy hotdog alone, or with family/friends.

My partner and I went on a Sunday morning just after 11am and there were already people coming in to eat. It's popular for a reason! I've eaten here a few times and had a very consistently good time, but this review will be about my most recent visit. We visited on a rainy day, but luckily we were able to snag one of the inside tables, we ordered at the counter and our orders arrived very quickly. I got the Ratchet dog which is a beef dog with queso, hot Cheetos and fried jalapeños. Dogfather uses quality dogs and buns for all of their gourmet dogs. I found the Ratchet to be meaty, salty with just right amount of spice from the jalapeños. My partner got the Pop it like it's hot, but removed the jalapeños. This was good but lacking a bit of flavor, however she and I both agreed that was on her for taking the jalapeños off the dog. Both dogs were extremely tasty, and we devoured both. I also got an order of curly fries loaded with their chili and cheese. For me, these did not have to go as HARD as they did. The chili they are using at Dogfather is seriously good, with a slight tang and a good amount of spice. It thrills but does not take away from your meal with too much heat. Very tasty. My only feedback is that Dogfather needs a larger space! There's a good size outside seating area, but for times like today when it's raining people need some coverage. They're doing it right and the crowds want to come! As I have stated this is a local favorite. If you live nearby, make it a regular spot. If you live in San Antonio, do yourself a favor and make a trip over at least sometimes. If you like hot dogs you won't go wrong.

As soon as the tour was over we walked back to the corner of W. Crockett and N. Presa to give them a try. Our tour guide was right, these are the best hotdogs in San Antonio. Bacon wrapped with a multitude of options for toppings, paired with a toasted bun, we literally sacrificed our keto diet on these. 100% recommend. We had two of the bacon wrapped with ketchup and mustard, and shared an everything (ketchup, mustard, mayo, and jalapeños). I can't decide which is better so you will need to give them both a try as well. Great location. Nice easy walk from the Alamo, and they are open late to give you the snack you need while doing a historic tour or of the city or spending a night out on the Riverwalk. I also have to give the guys working the stand a compliment, they were fast regardless of the line, and happy to be giving the customers a great experience. The first issue was using the InKind app. We spent about 10 minutes trying to figure out how to use it because ordering ahead wasn't working, and none of the employees seemed familiar with the process. One employee was patient, friendly, and genuinely tried to help us figure it out, which I appreciated. After finally placing our order, we were told it would take about 15 minutes. Instead, we waited roughly 40 minutes, and didn't receive our food until 11:00 p.m., right at closing. I understand we came during the last hour before closing, which is why I specifically asked if we had enough time. If the kitchen was backed up or our order was going to take 40+ minutes that late in the evening, I would have completely understood. I just wish we had been told that up front instead of being quoted 15 minutes. By the time we received our food, it was closing time. Thankfully we ordered it to go, because if we'd planned to eat there, we wouldn't have had the opportunity. When our food was finally ready, the bag was already ripping because something inside had leaked. The employee noticed right away, grabbed two new bags, and repacked everything, which I appreciated. We ordered quite a bit to sample the menu: the Cali Chick (lettuce wrapped), Hot Chick, Buff Chick, Little Mule, Totchos, onion strings, sweet potato fries, and a Teriyaki Chicken Caesar Wrap (which we haven't tried yet, so I can't comment on that one). Unfortunately, the food we did eat was very disappointing. The lettuce-wrapped Cali Chick was a mess--the lettuce was so wilted it couldn't even function as a wrap. The onion strings, Totchos, and sweet potato fries had all lost their crispness by the time we got them, and everything was lukewarm or cold. The Little Mule ended up being our favorite burger, while the Hot Chick definitely delivered on the spice. Ironically, the sweet potato fries were my favorite side, even though they came in the smallest portion. Our total was over $100 before the InKind discount, and I honestly wouldn't pay full price for this meal. The quality just didn't match the price. I don't know if the kitchen was short-staffed or if something else was going on that night, but waiting 40 minutes after being quoted 15 minutes--especially with almost no one else ordering--only to receive cold, soggy food was incredibly disappointing. I do want to give credit to the employee who helped us. He was polite, apologized several times for the delay, and even repacked our order when he noticed the leaking bag. Unfortunately, the overall experience and food quality just didn't live up to the price. Based on this visit, I couldn't justify spending over $100 for the experience we received. I hope this was just an off night, but it was disappointing enough that I felt it deserved a 2-star review.
