This place is never consistent with its food preparation. I have given this place so many chances because the food is good but too many times the food prep takes over an hour when it's advertised as a 15 minute delivery. Best falafel in San Antonio! Their hummus is amazing, too. After reading all the great reviews I have seen on this place I knew I had to try it. While I am not a vegetarian falafel is something I like a lot, so I ordered the falafel platter. I got my money's worth and then some! Not only did I get 8 huge pieces of falafel, salad, hummus, and rice all came with it. It was perfectly seasoned, and the outside was nice and crispy while the inside was moist and tender, and well seasoned. I'll definitely be back and I try thr chicken shwarma next time. There was a time when the whole food truck trend had ran its course. Then the pandemic struck and the city saw a revival of them. A major shift occurred where new business models emerged such as delivery and curbside service. They were sucessful like food trucks because the restaurant experience left alot to be desired. Presumably rude servers. Definitely rude customers. Tips. It all adds up. Now as things are starting to taper down(crossing my fingers) things that worked during Covid are here to stay. The result has been unique food trucks with styles to match. They can be tucked away in the most arbitrary of places. In a gas station. A strip mall. And for Golden Meals which serves up excellent Mediterranean Cuisine next to a vape smoker's shop. It is but a really, really, really small food truck. Their humble menu has food items to please almost everyone. They have meat items such as kabobs, gyro plates, schwarma the usual suspects. In addition they offer salads and appetizers such as kibbeh or dolmas. I settled on a gyro plate and kibbeh appetizers. Firstly I appreciated the owner taking the time to make a fresh batch of my order. Patience is a virtue here and it is rewarded wIith great flavors and food. Whilst waiting I could smell the meat cooking with the wind carrying the aroma of cinnamon, cumino and other Mediterranean spices. In addition prices are not too bad for this type of fare. When both plates came out I noticed the portions were healthy. I will say the cut of lamb was thicker than I am accustomed to and this might be problematic for some. It came laying on a bed of basmati rice with accompanying pita bread. The kibbeh, which are a meatball appetizers were absolutely amazing. I dipped them hastily into a yogurt based sauce which set my afternoon ablaze. My only critique is I wish there had been a smidge more rice. Next time I will order a small portion of it. Yes patrons will say "But is this as good as the Jerusalem Grill, Mimi and Dimi's even Chef's Table." Instead of comparisons to those places it's more useful to use Golden Meals as a point of reference. I highly recommend this place especially if you want to expand your food horizons. The service is excellent as is the food. It might take a bit as food is made to order. Trust me, it's worth the wait. ps. On an afternoon take your freshly cooked items across the street to Brackenridge Park without delay. Golden Meals??? When I first saw the trailer and the name I just thought it was another strange pop up food truck. I was WRONG. This little food trailer pumps out some of the best Mediterranean food in San Antonio. I've ordered from this place about five times now. I've tried multiple Mediterranean dishes and I've been surprised over and over with the food quality, flavors, portions, freshness of ingredients and service. I don't know how they do it. There are some places with a brick and mortar and that don't come close to the quality of Golden meals. The best part? The guys who run this little place are so nice. Very efficient. They give you a direct response and true wait times. Yes, you will have to wait. Usually about 15-20min depending on what you order and how many orders they have pending. Delicious food and great service. This food truck is parked right next to the Texaco on broadway. The falafel was crispy with lots of flavor and texture. I was also pleased with how many the plate comes with. Its definitely enough to share! The rice was warm, soft and an excellent compliment to the falafel. The salad was fresh as well. Great options for everyone! I was driving around Broadway around midnight when I found this new food truck. They offer Mediterranean and American options. As a first timer, I had to try their Mediterranean options! I got the Mixed Tikka (Marinated beef and chicken skewers that comes with rice, pita bread, salad and grill onion and tomato) I highly recommend this one! I've been to sit down places who don't pump out the flavored from this food truck. I've also tried their American food, their smash burger is super tasty as well and it comes with fries! So like everyone says in the reviews, these guys are some of the nicest guys you will meet. Which is a big deal for me because some places I go eat I feel like I'm bothering them by eating there. These dudes make you feel very welcome. I like Mediterranean food a lot. So I know a thing or two. I tried their Chicken Tikka and it was delicious and well presented. I watched homeboy slide the chicken off the skewer on to the rice and it got me even more hungry. The plate is a huge and for some people it may be two meals. The salad is fresh like everything included. Exactly what I'm looking for, especially close to my hood. Next up, some of that Shawarma! I went a few days later because I felt like a burger and thought that golden meal would be a go to. It was a great deal with the fries and I even got one of those mango fruit drinks to go with it. The Burger was well cooked with fresh veggies on it and I got a taste of the other flavors in the other food they cook in the burger. It was so good, I could have eaten 2 of them. BLUF: Golden Meals is really solid! I had seen this place on one of the delivery platforms, and I was curious how/what it was. (With all the lousy ghost kitchens out there, I'm skeptical of anything new.) Well, don't worry. Golden Meals is NOT a ghost kitchen. It's a couple of super-nice guys making great food in a food truck. I got a falafel sandwich and was very impressed. The falafel itself was crisp and browned on the outside and has a deep green interior that I'm guessing is from parsley and fresh garbanzos (?). It has the requisite pickle, tomato, onion and tahini sauce as well, and when it's all assembled, they put the whole sandwich onto a panini press to get some grilled crispiness on the outside of the wrap. It's a very good sandwich, and I plan to go back again very soon to work my way through the rest of the menu. I chatted with the owners for a few minutes, and they ended up generously throwing in a strawberry-topped panna cotta for dessert. You might not think to grab dessert to go with your shawarma, but you'd be missing out--the panna cotta is really good! If you're at all into Mediterranean food (or even if you're not--these guys make smashburgers too!), then you owe it to yourself to stop into Golden Meals at your earliest convenience. read more

First of all, these Falafel were addictively delicious! I am not by any means a falafel expert, but I've tried plenty and have never thought they were as scrumptious as these. Thick and hearty, perfectly seasoned and aromatic, vibrant herbaceous green color and perfect golden crust fried in clean oil. Dipped in plenty tahini or garlic sauce (ask for extra!)... *chef's kiss* The lettuce, tomato and cucumber salad veggies were all very fresh, too, which is not always the case at food trucks OR restaurants. So I was very happy about having a well-rounded food experience with fresh salad included with the falafel side. The owner/chef was very pleasant during the phone-in order and pickup and had my order packed up even quicker than I expected. I will say that I am glad I was feeling gluttonous and added on the side of falafels and hummus because the Chicken Shwerma Wrap was very thin and more of a "snack". A few big bites and I was done with it. But! It was definitely tasty and the chicken was juicy with great flavor that revealed layers of each spice and herb the cook used. Next time I think I'll go with a plate to get a more filling experience for the money, and will *have* to get more Falafel each time I go back. It is in an unassuming area of Broadway, but run very nicely by the owner. I really appreciate him offering such a quick and tasty experience and putting in the hours to make this delicious food available when other restaurants might be closed or not as convenient. Such a welcomed respite from the usual takeaway options in the neighborhood! We had the beef tikka plate (well-seasoned/grilled lean cuts of beef kabobs with yellow rice and pita) , falafel and chicken shawarma wraps. Everything was perfectly seasoned, the pita and rice were so fresh and delicious, the garlic sauce was outstanding. My gf and I (Cory) rang in the New Year by stopping here while looking for some NYE food and it's the last and best decision I made in 2021. Has could not have been more kind and welcoming. It wasn't too busy so we had a chance to just chat and his enthusiasm and passion for what he is doing is completely evident in his treatment of customers and the food itself. The menu is varied with standard Mediterranean options like chicken kebab, beef, gyro, wraps, hummus but also American fare like burgers, cheesesteak, and chicken nuggets. He also makes his own sauces which we had the tzatziki, garlic, and even homemade ranch. We tried the Arabic spring rolls, chicken shawarma wrap, fries, and rice and they were all amazing. I saw the smashed burger being made and it looked delicious.
