Great food staff is slow at cleaning tables on busy nights but we don't mind waiting when the fish is wonderful

Great family-friendly cafe. Very casual. Lots of to-go orders the entire time we were there enjoying a dine-in experience. Friendly and efficient staff. Best looking gumbo I have seen in a long time! crammed full of big shrimp and tasty sausage. The hush puppies were solid. The mild boudin sausage was excellent and full of flavor. The cheeseburger with onion rings was solid and the bun was excellent as well. Fried mushrooms were ok - but not their speciality. read more

I hadn't been here in almost a year because the dine in experience was so awful. Thankfully the service drastically improved. Our waiter was attentive and on point. The dining room seemed like it was better managed. Our food came out in a timely manner. The customer service was A+. read more

Bayseas Restaurant - #7 SPECIAL - Seafood Near Me - Universal City, Texas

Bayseas make delicious seafood at a great price. There isn't much ambiance as it looks like this location is a former fast food restaurant, but the delicious golden-fried catfish is what to come here for. Orders are placed at the counter, but the service was actually very attentive and friendly. They also offer huge bottles of tartar, cocktail, and hot sauce for all your dipping needs along with plenty of lemon wedges. For $18 I was very very full. A solid option. read more

Bayseas Restaurant - Catfish special (w/ shrimp, fries, and slaw) $14.99 - Seafood Near Me - Universal City, Texas

I had not had bases in a while and decided to stop by for lunch. I got the pork chop and shrimp plate with green beans and potato salad. The potato salad taste like it has way too much relish. It's super sweet the green beans taste fishy, and the shrimp and the pork chops do not have any flavor. I'm not sure what happened, but it does not taste the same as the used to. read more

First time here and being from south Florida, I'm a seafood connoisseur. This seafood was amazingly good and flavorful. The restaurant seemed very clean and all tables were full, so I can tell it's a locals favorite here in Texas! The staff were quick and professional, also very nice! read more

Never disappoints. Hits the spot every time! You know what you are getting every.single.time. They conduct business so well they close daily at 6pm so call ahead to place your order or dine in for lunch! If you like catfish plan to take a friend or your spouse because that place can feed two and with our family it can easily feed our family of 4 since we aren't big eaters. We recommend the gumbo, fried okra, catfish combo plates and shrimp baskets. Always hot and ready. read more

Okay, this place didn't disappoint. My hubby wasn't a fan of coleslaw but Bayseas you made him a believer. It's so yummy! Everything is cooked with love and service was most excellent. Place to enjoy great food! read more

The best home cook seafood and sides in SATX. Always Hot and Fresh. Best one is on Pat Booker Rd.

We've been on the hunt for some good fish spots here in SA and we were lead to Bayseas. I must say the menu was full and we were very much so undecided but excited. The cashier was patient with us and she gave us some great suggestions and verbally condensed the menu for us so quickly we were actually able to make a collaborative decision. She knew her stuff and her recommendations will be tucked in our back pockets for the future lol. One thing she did highly talk about the most was the cornbread, she said it's not for sharing and we would regret not getting our own lol. She had that look in her eyes that told us to trust her and get that cornbread!! LOL. We ordered the Shrimp and Catfish Special, which came with 3 pieces of each, coleslaw and fries and we added on 2 pieces of cornbread. Now let me tell you baby lol that CORNBREAD!! She did not come to play!! Ohhhh my goodness!! The cashier didn't steer us wrong y'all lol it was THE BEST cornbread I've ever had at a restaurant. It was almost like a super moist cake and full of flavor 10/10 for sure. The fry and seasoning on the shrimp and catfish was good. However, we favored the shrimp more over the catfish. The catfish, was a bit to greasy.. it was good but greasy. The portion size was very filling and we definitely had leftovers. The fries were plain and not seasoned at all. The coleslaw was VERY good in flavor but overly saturated in juice. If you like alot of juice this will rock your world but our preference is that middle lane.. not to dry but not to juicy either.. again it was a very very good coleslaw 8/10. Lastly, dessert.. we got the chocolate & white chocolate ribbon cake and it was just okay 5/10 Overall, we would definitely go back to Bayseas and try some other things that caught our eye but the STAR of the show was the shrimp and the CORNBREAD!!. Customer service was great and I can say we enjoyed our lunch, we'll be back. read more

When you are looking for reasonably priced amazing down home cooking come here!! Every dish is made with love and pride!!

While the to-go service may be slow at times, the food is definitely worth it. I'm specifically referring to the Pat Booker Road location, the fish is great, the amount of food you get for the price is excellent, and be sure to get some cornbread on the side! read more

Soul food heaven. Located in a nondescript strip mall area. But super clean inside Collard greens are seasoned right, and the smothered pork chop is the size of my plate. The fried catfish and shrimp have a light coating and are cooked perfectly. They are huge portions. Our server was pleasant and responsive. The food came out within five minutes of ordering, piping hot and delicious. This is our favorite home-cooking restaurant. read more

Wow I love this place. For the price you get a ton of catfish fries coleslaw and bread. Come hungry because this place will fill you up. Catfish was on point fries with crispy shrimp were fabulous. I'm not a fan of coleslaw, but this was really good stuff. I had to say I ate my coleslaw. The place is small, but plenty of seating. Food is quick to come out and the service is outstanding. All the people here have smiles and you can tell they're grateful for their customers. I will definitely be back and make this a regular stop. Last time I had catfish was in Louisiana.. I am hooked like the catfish that was on my plate. read more

We love this establishment. My wife and I have frequently visited Bayseas religiously for about nine years now. BEST cajun catfish, shrimp and seafood here in San Antonio in our opinion. Not only is the seafood delicious but the staff is wonderful. The ladies there are all friendly, sweet, and very courteous. They all strive to make you feel at home. The dining area is small here in the Pat Booker location but it makes for a nice cozy dining experience. The menu is extensive and their prices EXCELLENT. If you want to enjoy a nice quiet meal and feel like your dining with family, try this location. read more

This was a very disappointing lunch. We were not greeted upon entry and were told that they - a 'family' restaurant - do not have high chairs. Also, the floors are quite sticky. Against my better judgment, we stayed for lunch. Ordered sweet tea - absolutely disgusting. Ordered an appetizer of 'seafood' gumbo. The seafood consisted of one shrimp cut in half - the rest of the gumbo consisted of tomatoes - heresy! - and andouille. Also, insanely small. Then, I ordered the shrimp and oyster combo. Did not get it - instead got a ton of trout. Did they listen when I pointed this out? Of course not. read more

Firstly, I had such a hard time finding this place with no signs at all but come to find out it was their LAST DAY in that location so everything was down. This location is moving to Pat Booker road and will be up and running 01/02/24. That out of the way, I was concerned that with the move they might not have all the menu items or be on point with cooking. I was wrong. This place is delicious. The gumbo is warming and spicy with all the meats and vegetables you'd expect. Def recommend. The shrimp po boy was piled high with huge shrimps on soft but toasty bread. The catfish was to die for. The batter is thin and light but super crispy and the fish inside was flaky, tender, and juicy. The hush puppies were crispy and flavorful but some were not fully cooked. The service was excellent. If you are in the hood or anywhere near Pat booker, you have to step in and give this little unassuming place a try. You will not regret it. read more

Not real tea, not real lemonade, not Mac N Cheese it's packaged like cheese powder and the noodles were a bit gluey. Fried Trout was dry, I'm the only one that liked the oysters, scallops were 1/3-1/4" round I didn't even know they could be that small. For the price you'd think it would be better like the one on Nacodoges. Big disappointment. I will say it's a clean place. The manager did refund MacNCheese. read more

Soooo good! Fairly crowded for a Friday, but you wouldn't know it. Fast, friendly service and amazing food. When our waitress brought our food one of my shrimp fell on the floor. I was sad until she came back with TWO shrimp! The portions are so generous I have enough for another meal tomorrow. Very happy that Bayseas is 7 minutes from the house! Highly recommend. read more

Bayseas Restaurant - Catfish, Shrimp, Oysters and a large order of hushpuppies. Perfect! - Seafood Near Me - Universal City, Texas

Delicious is where I will start. Welcoming is where I will end. Everything we ordered was fresh and cooked to perfection. Not too much seasoning but enough to make you feel at home. Be prepared to fill up in the hook or the swamp. The hook is koolaid and lemonade and the swamp is sweet tea and lemonade. They are served in Texas sized cups. OMG so refreshing. I felt guilty at jump just from the drink. Then the food comes huge amounts of fresh hot and perfectly seasoned fish, shrimp, chicken. I haven't ate everything in the menu but I'm convinced from what I ate everything is good. Then there is the service. The nicest folks you will ever meet. So friendly, so patient for us large groups. They speak to you when you arrive. They speak to you when you leave. Just simple pleasant thank you'd go such a far way!! But wait, it gets better!! One of daughters dropped her ring during our visit. I went back in and they helped me find it!! People don't do that anymore which is so sad. I so appreciate the authentic customer service from this place. Please go and support them!! read more

Stopped by and ordered to go. People are exceptionally friendly. Food was fabulous! Will definitely be back!!!

Such compassion. We went to Bayseas because my father-in-law was under hospice care and we had many friends and relatives, stopping by to see him for one last time and we wanted to offer these folks some food. The folks at Bayseas greeted us with hugs and recommended the 16 piece catfish with fries which turned out to be over 20 pieces and a mountain of fries. The food was placed in a tray and enjoyed. Thank you. read more

It's a seafood restaurant, but it's also a soul food restaurant. If you don't try the pork chops, you're missing out!

This place is kinda run down but the staff is nice. The portion sizes are generous and he catfish is pretty good.

My son wanted catfish so we hopped on Yelp in search of reviews. Bayseas had good reviews so we decided to try it out. This place is a small restaurant near the football stadium. We went on a Friday evening just before a HS football game. It was busy (mostly with to go orders) but the employees kept up. We were immediately greeted upon arrival and were directed to a table. Our server was very friendly. She asked if we had been here before and when we told her we hadn't she offered us suggestions. Our drinks were brought out quickly. The food came out relatively quickly as well. Everything we ordered was fried so this is the only thing I am able to review. Food was decently seasoned without too much salt. Tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, and ketchup were brought to the table in bottles so we could use as much as we wanted. Our sever checked in regularly as did other employees. Overall our experience was good. We didn't try the gumbo but we heard it was good so we may be back! read more

Walked in with our baby for an early dinner. There were a couple of patrons eating and a couple of people picking up some take out orders. The staff was quick to greet and and it's self seating. The place had decent foot traffic and we had onion rings as an appetizer. Hindsight, I could have skipped the appetizer because j couldn't finish my entree of trout! This is definitely a business that I recommend to others. It's off a main road but you have to look out for it. The tables have a good amount of space between them. read more
