We visited this locals' favorite on a Sunday, early afternoon. Taking advantage of the brunch/lunch options, we ordered the Texas Cheesesteak and Texas Breakfast. Both were underwhelming, and failed to deliver on taste. The highlight of our visit was the Down the Hatch, an espresso based drink with vanilla and sweet cream. The dining room is small, and the team was struggling to keep it clean even though traffic was moderate. I was frustrated when I was unable to pour my tea ... the spout was at a trickle. [Update: 12/07/2025] Another fantastic brunch at Rooted Fork. I was greeted by the pleasant, diligent staff member Kaylee, who was both friendly and very accommodating. She knew the menu well and recommended great options based on what I like. After I ordered, she checked in to make sure everything was to my liking and, without me even asking, brought over boxes and a bag for leftovers. I laughed and told her, "You read my mind!" Food-wise, I highly recommend the Steak Hash (hold the salsa verde if you are spice-sensitive like me) and the white chocolate latte. On this adventure, I find myself in Cibola at the "Rooted Fork". I try not to be overly critical about a place but this restaurant has nothing to worry about. Because the breakfast they served was by far one of the best, the flavor was delicious, the presentation was excellent. But let's start from the beginning, the restaurant is situated in an older home and that character gives this place an inviting warmth. As you walk in you see the menu above the counter and a good amount of seating. The person behind the counter was very helpful and answered all questions about the menu. The item I chose was the "Steakhouse Forky" and that was absolutely delicious. The steak was wonderfully prepared it was probably one of the best breakfast I've had in a while, the cheese and various vegetables mixed in were a delicious combination and it paired wonderfully with the tater tots. I accompanied my meal with a cup of coffee and it too was skillfully prepared, good aroma and taste. Overall this place is very good. The people that keep this place going were wonderful and cordial, bringing the right amount of coffee and all with a wonderful atmosphere. read more

There is a drink station. They give you your mug with coffee that the counter, but you can get refills at the drink station I ordered the sesame ginger salad. It came with shrimp and avocado. The salad was so good. It did get kind of spicy towards the end due to the ginger, but definitely a great choice. It was big and the salad had enough shrimp. I have definitely had better. The bacon was the only food I liked on my plate. Also they use to have flavored creams for your coffee and milk/creamer in a cold carafe. All they have now is to go half and half containers. That's all you get for coffee that costs $3.64 per cup. I've been here a few times but may not go back. I live in the area, trying this place for the first time. Was super excited! The atmosphere was nice and homey. It is not a typical sit down and being waited on type of breakfast place. You order at the front counter and the server brings you the food. The regular coffee wasn't strong enough and the rim of the mug was dirty. I ordered an Americano instead. That was good. I ordered the big daddy omelette. The meat could have been cooked a little more, but that's probably my fault because I didn't ask for well done. They don't have wheat toast and I don't eat potatoes and there was nothing I could substitute for that, so all I really had was the omelette. I paid about $30 for my omelette and coffee. The inside is really small, but they do have seating outside, in the porch and on the grass in front. There is a ramp on one side of the building, but the doors are narrow and always opening, cause they bring your meal out the front door. And it was hands down amazingly delicious! All the components were seasoned beautifully and the housemade sauce on top makes it. The food is special. It's different than I've tasted in this area. The atmosphere is good and homie. When they aren't busy at the counter and back of the house/kitchen, they usually greet customers as they enter the door. The tea is good, the place is relatively clean, the grit bowl was good just a little too salty, and the biscuits and gravy (also very salty!!!) were 7/10. The only thing that really made me like "I won't go back" is the checkout. There are three options for this non-full service restaurant. 20% tip. 25% tip. 30 yes I said 30% tip. It's insanity at its best and the tipping culture has lost its mind. I tip well; 20-25% for full service. For this, I'd typically tip 15-18%. For that reason, they've lost our business. read more

My BF took us here on a Saturday morning. It was crowded at 8:30AM with a line out the door, but they move along pretty good. When I say a line, I mean the line to place an order. You place your order at the counter, they give you a number and you find a place to sit. When your food is ready they bring it to you and pick up your number. Keep in mind this is not a full-service type of restaurant, think mostly serve cafeteria. But the food is very good, the yogi-bowl is my favorite since I am watching my weight. My BF gets the breakfast with eggs over tater-tots covered in gravy. We both get regular coffee since it can be refilled, but they have coffee shop style drinks as well. My little one had a good time playing on the lawn as we sat outside at a picnic table with an umbrella to shade us. There were very large COCKROACHES on the floor next to our table. Food was extremely cold and tasted like it had just been microwaved. The restaurant smelled kinda weird and the whole place was really dirty and unkempt. So many dirty tables I don't know if they don't have enough bussers or what the problem is. The layout of the restaurant is bizarre it's super cramped and uncomfortable and there are wet floor signs, mops, and random tools and cleaning supplies just sitting around.
