I'm giving this little cafe a BIG recommendation! My family and I were driving through the area making our way to San Antonio and found this cute corner cafe. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and seated immediately. Our server was on top of things! We ordered the chicken fried steak plates and chili cheese burger. We couldn't be happier with our meals! We could tell it was all home cooked with care. We cleaned our plates and decided to order desserts. Yum! This hidden gem has fantastic food and friendly service. So, it's was Friday night. Our night to go out and try something new or go somewhere we've been before. Surprise, we went somewhere new. And what a blessing. We drove down to Marion, Texas. Not too far, but it was worth the car ride. Gg's is a small hometown restaurant. The had Mexican and American food. The decor was pretty cool. The service were young adults, but they were on it. Great service. When you first walk in, you go by the counter, then past the dessert cooler. What a treat to see all those desserts as you go into the dining room, great or trap. Lol. The chicken fried chicken was moist. The crust could have used some more seasoning. The side were good. The chicken fried steak was the tender. The crust could have been seasoned better. I have a hard time reviewing chicken fried steaks, mainly cause I make a really good chicken fried steak. All in all, we are looking forward to going back to try the burgers. read more

I would say to definitely try GG's Corner Cafe in Marion. If you are thinking about it, just go! I wasn't sure how this restaurant would be but it greatly exceeded my expectations. Such a homey type of place. The chopped steak was great with the gravy and onions. I also got potato salad and green beans. The potato salad tasted like store bought but it went so well with this dish!! I have to admit I fully expected the green beans to be mushy like they are served at other restaurants of this type. But they were perfect!!! You also must try their desserts so just plan on that. I shared the Sawdust Pie with my husband. We have never heard of this pie but now we will never forget it. It is like German Chocolate Cake in a pie crust and the cake part removed. Definitely one of the best pies I have ever had. Next time I go, I will try to get a picture of it before we finish it off. My friend got the banana pudding and loved it. The service was great. The bill was more than reasonable! We will definitely be back!!! read more

We stopped in on a random Monday afternoon for dinner. Even though they were out of the daily special we tried the enchiladas and the fried pork chop plate. Everything was sooo good. My husband discovered GG's a while back. Their food is always hot and fresh. We love the Friday's catfish or shrimp specials. The sides are always quite good. Todays was hot sauerkraut!? I'm not a sauerkraut kind of gal but I figured I'd give it a try and boy was it delicious ! Had a bit of bacon flavor and pepper that was a wonderful blend of flavors. I ordered a bulldog hamburger with the fixins . Juicy and great tasting. And the desserts are something else. I've tried the chocolate cake, and apple pie. My husband likes the banana pudding. Depending what day it is you may find different pies and cakes, but no matter which you choose it's always a winner. Nice s friendly staff, very attentive without being overbearing. read more

This is a great place for comfort food/homestyle cooking. It's clean and it's decked out with Texas decor - I dig that. The service was a little slow getting started with the menus and drink orders, but then things picked up. Grilled chicken breast was really good and not dry. The bacon cheeseburger was good but they charge extra for the cheese (.59) and the bacon ($1.49). The fries were good at first, but the more I ate, the more they started to taste like catfish. I suspect they're fried in the same oil as the catfish. I'm sure this is the norm at most places, but you could really taste it here. Despite the issue with the fries, I'm keeping this one on my "go to" list. The rest of the menu looks so good! Plenty of parking, easy to get in and out of. read more

Food is a little salty but it was really good. The salad was also great. Now.. the sweets are just over the wall. My husband and I come here almost every week for date night. The, wait staff are very friendly. I usually order a custom grilled cheese with tomatoes, grilled onions, and sautéed onions. It's one of the best grilled cheese I have ever had in my life! Once in a while, I try something different, but it's hard to mess with perfection. My husband tried lots of items in the menu and they taste great. But his favorite are the chicken fried steak, salad, and their house made ranch. Their desserts are delicious also. Last year, I can't leave the restaurant without buying at least 2 slices of pies. For the New Year, I promised myself to cut down on sweets. I have been really good so far. I live in Cibolo TX and my son's family lives near Seguin. Until we discovered Gg's, I didn't think there were any decent restaurant options between these two cities. Gg's is nondescript on the outside, "country cute-ish" on the inside, with a very nicely prepared variety of comfort food selections. My wife and I have ordered the fried catfish, burgers, chicken fried steak, chicken fried pork with brown gravy and sauerkraut (which we thought would be served like a Jager schnitzel but it really tasted just like it was titled - a chicken fried steak that was made of pork), and beef enchiladas that were comparable to any local Mexican restaurant. We've been very happy with everything we've tried. The dining room is comfortable, cute, clean and roomy. But if you don't have time to enjoy your meal in their relaxed dining area, the restaurant also offers a convenient drive-through. Unfortunately, I can't find their menu online, so it's obviously not as convenient to call ahead to place your order for pickup as it could be if their menu offerings were easy to find. But if you know what you want, the carryout option can be a helpful option. read more

The desserts are amazing especially the coconut meringue pie and lemon meringue pie. I would have taken a photo, but it disappeared as soon as the server placed it in front of me. If you want a fantastic, home-cooked meal, the place to go is GG's in Marion. TX. Ate dinner there on 6/27/2023. Food was fantastic! I order a cup of the soup of the day and it was fantastic!! Spoke with Mary, the chef, about it and let her know it was one of the best egg drop soups I have had recently. The staff at GG's is fantastic, especially Natalie. She took great excellent care of us throughout our meal and always had a big smile on her face. Thanks to everyone for making us feel welcome. A rustic building with great service, the presentation is a bit school cafeteria, the food is anything but! We had a classic toasted BLT with fries (not included with the sandwich) and the lunch special, cajun fried catfish with scalloped potatoes and a cajun creamed corn. Good sandwich, great fries, fish, and potatoes, and outstanding corn. All but full up for the lunch crowd, but still checked in on us regularly. When we got there we put our name and number down and proceeded to wait 45 minutes watching 8-10 groups go before us when we finally thought we would get seated they sat 2 people at a table for 6 when we went inside and asked when we would be seated, they said that it would still be another 30-40 minutes. We had been told it was first come first served but then we witnessed them sit a group that hadn't even been there when they were called. I thought it was first come first served.
