    parchment paper in my sandwich
    Jaqueline C.

I give it a two only bc the young manager gave me a refund n got me to a VIP free meal for the inconvenience but this was my first time going w my bf we ordered online so we paid before hand. As soon as we got there we waited 5min at the window, i had to call the restaurant n tell them i was waiting to be attended mind you its 8pm n noone was in the restaurant. As we got home we took a bite of our sandwiches n there was parchment paper on them melted!! GROSS never again. Definitely dont recommend.

    Moldy fruit

When we got home my daughter wanted fruit but couldn't open it. I told her to give it to me so I could open it for her. Thank God I did as it had mold on the fruit when I opened it. I had to tell me daughter she couldn't have it & called the restaurant, when I spoke to the manager and told her the issue all she said was oh no & offered me a $4 refund on a $40 order. However after this I was worried about the freshness of the food and none of it was eaten as we were all grossed out so $40 for lunch went to waste.

Choose 2 Jalapeo Turkey Crunch and chili

So it has been years since I have been to McAlister's basically I'm a new customer! I arrived about 1:45pm so I missed the crazy lunch rush. I was greeted upon walking in the door. The cashier was super helpful as I was unfamiliar with the menu. I have commitment issues so I chose the Pick 2 in which you can choose a half of any 2 sandwich, soup, spud or salad. I had the Jalapeño Turkey Crunch sandwich and a cup of chili. First, I wish I had gotten the whole sandwich because it was delicious. The sandwich is served with jalapeño kettle chips and this really made the sandwich! If you grew up eating ruffles on your bologna sandwich (like me) this sandwich is for you! Lastly, the chili was fantastic, no beans, just the way the Texas gods intended lol! Iadded a little cheese and onions and *BAM* chili does a meal make! If I where to have and recommendations, order the jalapeño chips on the side if you're getting the sandwich to go, soggy chips won't do! Also the onions are not chopped and makes it a bit harder to eat. Get the onions on the side and with a couple cuts they're perfect for your chili masterpiece! In summation, eat at McAlister' and eat the Turkey Jalapeño Crunch sandwich and a bowl of chili sent straight from the *beans don't belong in chili* Texas gods! Lol #chipsonsanwiches #beansdonotbelonginchili

Decent eats, above average service, but honestly priced for something much better. Nice to note that customers have the option to order table side through their application. Would recommend trying Schlotzky's instead, where the prices are slightly lower, accompanied by noticeably higher quality meats and dramatically tastier sandwich bread buns! My favorite thing was the Fresh Strawberry Lemonade, which is not a good thing to say for a delicatessen. Other reviewers have noted "huge portion sizes". To each their own, but my opinion is that they were pretty average main dish sizes.

Why would a container of butter be in the bottom of my cup of broccoli?
    Alan O.

Today, I had my wife pick up lunch from here. USUALLY, the food is pretty good and nothing to write a bad review about. As I was getting to the middle part of my broccoli, I noticed something strange in it. Upon further review, I saw that the object was a small butter container, at the bottom.I didn't eat any more after that. As I was getting to the bottom of my sweet tea, also from here, I noticed some strange looking things floating and settling on the bottom of the cup. Whatever it was, I couldn't see it when I initially got the tea, until after the ice had melted. I immediately stopped drinking it. After work, I went to this fine establishment and asked to speak to a manager on duty. I showed her the broccoli cup with the butter container in it and the ice tea with the strange particles in it. I'm paraphrasing her comments, but they were something to the effect of, I think I know what they did and how that got in there. OK. Tell ME how you think it happened and let me know what you're going to do to fix it and/or prevent it from happening again. When I showed her the tea, she looked at it and said that it looked like SUGAR, that hadn't fully dissolved. HUH?!?! WHAT?!?!I've never seen SUGAR look like that, especially after being in a liquid for so long. (See attached photos). You may have noticed that I never mentioned the managers name. That's because she didn't give it to me, didn't introduce herself and she was not wearing a name tag, that would have identified her by name and as the manager.‍That's another issue all together. Someone else mentioned the employees there not wearing nametags? I wonder why they don't and if it's a requirement? It should be, if it isn't. My wife said she went back there when I told her about it and the manager on duty refunded her $4.I didn't ask for a refund. I just wanted someone there to SEE what they gave me. It will be awhile before I go into this particular McAlister's restaurant again. Is this place locally franchised, locally owned? Anyway, others have left negative comments about the place and I really hope the owner/manager takes heed and gets those discrepancies taken care of, ASAP. Even if it means shutting down for a couple of weeks, to clean the place from top to bottom, they should do it. A lot of people look at the cleanliness or lack thereof, of a restaurant's bathroom, as the measuring stick for how much the managers and employees care about the place. The bathrooms need some serious cleaning.

The first time I tried McAlister's it was at this location and since then I have been going back ever since. Today I stopped by just to get a quick lunch. I ordered on the app and went to pick it up. Just got home and sat down to start eating and as I was unwrapping my soup I found a little note that says " thanks for your loyal-tea" I know it's probably such a small thing but to me it meant a lot :) the service here is always so amazing and the staff is so friendly and makes the food always just how I like it !

Nacho Basket, only half full if that.

Very disappointed in my experience with this McAllister's deli. When you place and expect to get what you want or what you order and you don't it makes the experience not good when you get home, and it's that much worse. I should have learned by now to check all my food, but I figured since there's was no people in the restaurant and I was the only one of two people in the place, while they had at least eight workers that they would get my order right. Boy was I wrong, When you ordered a nacho basket and you pay eight dollars for that and get half of an order of queso that's the size of the two dollar add-on. Then did not get two of the Add ons that I ordered with my meal. I will just avoid this location and maybe McAllister's altogether. It is sad because I really enjoy their food, that's when you get what you Pay for.

The worst McAlister's deli in San Antonio!! I will never come back here. This establishment is in need of a NEW MANAGER. The floor is so sticky. I've been here for 15 mins and only one order had come out. Shout out to Breanna who was taking the initiative.

The various club sandwiches are good. I don't recommend the nachos though since they have a bitter burnt taste and appearance.

I was able to make my way here on my last day in San Antonio in late March thanks to my flight being delayed and my oh my, I am quite impressed! The older gentleman taking my order at the counter gave me a big smile when I mentioned I heard you have this thing called the serious sandwich here. He told me that they do and then stated "You won't regret ordering it, seriously." Chuckling, I decided on a half order of that along with a side of potato salad and their side of beans. After taking my first bite, I realized the gentleman was right. This is a dope sandwich! Excellent cured meats in the salamar and pair of hams along with the provolone and melted cheddar with the veggies, spices, italian dressing, and mustard. The bread they use holds up well and has a slight crunch to it. If you prefer your bread to have softness to it, you may have to ask if they can substitute a different bread instead of the italian flat bread they use. But I absolutely love this sandwich the way it is! As for the sides, the potato salad has a slight mustard taste and right consistency with a dash of paprika on top; just the way I like it. The beans are charro beans (I think) that are served steaming hot with some pork trimmings mixed in; I may have dipped my sandwich in it a couple times for flavor explosion. What can I say, I'm adventurous! There's some ferrari memorabilia and posters on the right side where some of the high top seating is. As a Ferrari F1 fan, I appreciate them displaying this here along with the track map of the COTA circuit in Austin. The seating area is spread out nicely with plenty of seats/tables and a drink station with some random signs up. All of interest to consumers like us. Definitely recommend coming here for either the serious sandwich or other delicious ones like their meatball sandwich or manhattan. I can't wait to come back and try the other ones but I may just stick with the serious sandwich cause I loved it. SERIOUSLY!

So, when co-workers wanted to go yesterday, I jumped on it. Don't get me wrong. I love the vibe of this place. I LOVE their story. It's very NY/Northeastern deli feel (they're from Pittsburgh, but you get my drift, right!?). No nonsense. Small inside area. No tables inside. Just enough room to look at the menu, order, and go wait outside. I opted for the chicken bacon ranch on hoagie. What came out was a decent size sandwich, but incredibly messy and soggy. There was so much juice/ liquid the sandwich quickly became unmanageable and just disintegrated. Look, if you're going to serve a sandwich that messy, please upgrade your napkins. It was a one bite - two napkin ratio. The sandwich was good, but the mess and difficulty eating it just took away any enjoyment. Additionally, the flies outside rivaled the worst I've experienced. Do you remember the scene in the Lost World, Jurassic Park movie when the hunters found the Rex nest!? Okay, okay, maybe not that bad, but it was a lot. Hang some fly bags or strips or somethin'. Found price to be a little high. By the time I bought chips and a drink, plus tip: $22. Just FYI: my co-worker disagrees. He thought it was the BEST SANDWICH HE'D EVER HAD. So, yes, go give them a try, but bring a beach towel for clean up.
