It's not hard to update store hours or signage appropriate to indicate open and closed hours. The store closure on Easter was not posted online, on the message service or on the business door. I ordered some items to be picked up in store. When I arrived and clicked the button saying so in my email, the system told me my order was being prepared to be brought to my car. All the while the damn store was closed. I checked online, called and checked pickup hood in my email before leaving and it wasn't indicated anywhere. Wasting customer time in this manner is idiotic and preventable. Furthermore, of the store was properly stocked I wouldn't have had to wait 10 days for the items ordered to come in. I had a bad experience at another The Container Store, however, this location is very close to my home. I mentioned my experience to the duty manager and he accommodated me with a 20% discount off my purchases. Most The Container Stores seems to be laid out in the same manner. I found everything I wanted and the cashier was very friendly and conveyed appreciation for my patronage. Located in an outdoor shopping mall parking is excellent. This is the place to flex my Metrosexual Muscle and get those things that can help organize a home, and get them with outstanding service to boot. Yeah, I'm sold on the hooks, hangers, baskets and containers this palce offers. Also, I never thought I could get so excited over wicker baskets to organize my bath towels (WTF!? This store is amazing! They have containers to contain just about anything, in another word, a hoarder's or less offensive, collector's heaven! Jill (my fave) from the Hoarders show certainly would appreciate this store. Haha. Yeah, the price is kind of high, but we needed a new trash can. And they have a quite collection of them there, after some deliberation, I picked the $50, no-brainer, low-tech, plastic Simplehuman trash can. I like the brand name, why I'm a simple human so it's perfect for me. :-) And no, thank you, I won't be buying the hand-free, odor-free, noise-free, possibly breaks in a month, high-tech gizmo trash can. Mr. L. was not very welcoming to our new simple trash can, actually the whole brood 3 to 1 voted against my purchase. They didn't like the plain jane, they wanted the stainless steel like the last one, but the stainless is never quite stainless so when it's stained it stays stained. By now they are convinced I've made a good choice, bah. It's trash can for pete's sake, I didn't want that Roomba years ago, but at least it was entertaining for the kids. I didn't feel too bad when it broke down and the kid couldn't block it or chase it anymore, it served it's purpose as a "toy" or as a babysitter. But how engaging is a hand-free trash can can be to anyone? It doesn't have the eyes like the Roomba for one thing, and it can't move around making that silly spasm turning motion and the funny clicking noise. Now I miss that "neurotic" little robot! Wow, I can not believe that I spent 3 hours in this store yesterday and I must return. I thought I had bought the entire store out, however I only made purchases from the Kitchen Department, I must return and hit the Office Dept., the Closet Dept, The Gift Wrapping Dept and on and on. While there yesterday they did a Demo on gift wrapping for the holidays, sooo many neat little tricks to make your packages POP! They served Apple Cider and Cookies (so kool) The Container Store is sooo FUN, we have always gone to the one at the Grove, however this one is much easier for parking. The sales persons provide the friendliest customer service, sooo helpful, they all give service with a smile, they really seem happy to work there and happy to see you. They carry so many space saving items, one could not image how well you can organize your home or apartment with the items they carry, they have items that will double your space. The koolest thing is that they carry both new and old school items as well. I needed more room in my kitchen at home and with the items I purchased I now have space left over. They have the largest selection of trash cans,boxes for shipping or storage, wine holders, shelves, containers for every room, a complete gift wrap department and several little gadgets that you did not know you needed, LOL Before I forget I am a proud POP member, I can't wait too receive my POP reward via email for December, I will save 20.00 towards a purchase in December. We recently redid all our closets and are amazed at how easy the process has been. We took advantage of the Elfa sale so we were able to get a huge discount and from the moment we placed the order to the installation date we only had to wait a couple of weeks- just because we requested a Saturday installation so that we wouldn't have to take a day off from wark. Our designers Barbara and Juan went above and beyond to ensure we had closets that matched all our requirements. They patiently listened to us and offered a wide range of alternatives at a very reasonable price. The installation day everything was flawless: both the installer and The Container Store called us to confirm the appointment a couple of days before the scheduled date. The installer (Jay) was amazing and arrived on time. He removed the old closets, patched everything and installed the closets in less than one day. He also made a point to clean everything after the installation. I would gladly recommend this The Container Store location to anybody looking for a pleasant shopping experience were the customer is treated with professionalism. read more

They have the stupidest curbside pickup service, that makes their pickups timely and very delayed. They book you similar to a doctor's appointment, for a transaction that would otherwise take 5 minutes for, now you have to wait weeks to get an appointment. Then they expect people to add it to their calendar and honor it like a doctors appointment, and are frustrated that no one does this. Advice to Container store, Target & Best Buy have a lot more customers and their pickup methods take about 1-5 minutes. If it's not a process that's working, you should follow more successful business models instead of having the unrealistic expectation that people have the time to schedule shoe box pickups 4 weeks out. read more

Luckily I snapped out of it and realized I could do both, but you see where my priorities lie. This was my first time to a Container Store and I was in awe. Mostly of the selection, partially of the prices. There are so many freaking cute things here, but man are some of them pricey. I think the key going in is knowing what you need (or really really want), and keeping your eye on the prize. I can see it being like Target, where you go to buy a $3 box of band-aids and walk out having spend $153 on God knows what. As I always say, if they are just opening, cut them some slack. I visited the store twice last week and both times I dealt with Sharon, who assisted me. Sharon was the first person who greeted me on my first visit and she was so kind, helpful and understanding. She had an amazing voice of kindness and assistance which was soooo welcoming and nice. I must say, she alone caused me to return the second time and make an additional purchase. because the first visit was such a pleasant experience! Sharon first thoroughly listened to my questions, gave me great options to consider and I found exactly what I was looking for. When we could not find the additional items on the floor, she took the time to retrieve the wheels and table tops from the back. She lifted the huge boxes and put them in the baskets for me before I had a chance to do so myself and was nothing but kindness! I could hear the smile underneath the mask! :D I had mentioned that when I asked a different associate a question about the item, the associate told me I would have to ask for help, I laughed and said, she didn't OFFER to help and Sharon immediately apologized and I thought that was very nice. Thrilled that the Container Store has finally come to Plaza El Segundo. Although I have always been a fan of the store, the parking situation at Century City or the shlep to South Coast Plaza often made me think twice or put off trips. I went to the store a couple weeks after opening, so it wasn't as crazy as some of the other posters had mentioned. I was able to quickly get what I need, and a very helpful employee was able to seek out the final item I was looking for. Prices are moderate--there are some items that can definitely be had for less from other sources, but what I really like is they have some unique items that aren't in the big box stores (speciality hangers, cord wranglers for computers, etc.) If you join their email list, you will find out about the monthly sales, so there's always an opportunity to get a break on price. read more

Convenient container store close to work...so when I need something, I can usually swing by during lunch to pick it up. Sales staff and elfa designers are very helpful here and seem to be more knowledgable than Costa Mesa and Pasadena, but that may just have been the person we were dealing with. I mean I've never had a bad experience at any store, this one just stands out more to me. Parking is really easy here, unlike the two aforementioned locations, which makes us more likely to get stuff from this store; esp with the click and pickup option from the website. Other items like the plastic bins and containers, you could price shop and sometimes it's the best price to peers, other times you could find it cheaper at either Target, Bed Bath & Beyond or other places, even comparable items at the $0.99 Only or Dollar Tree stores. They have display cases for knick knack collectibles as well as stuff to keep your stuff separate and secure. They have small containers and large ones as well as various and odd sizes and shapes to hold just about anything and everything. You'll get good if not great ideas here 'tho, and it's a fun store to shop, very spacious and organized. The service here is friendly. The return policy is outlined and fair. Once you find the cleaning product organizer, you will come across the cleaning products organizer holder. There were not a lot of floor workers when I went, so it made for an environment for me to walk down every aisle and at times yelling to myself PUT THAT BACK YOU DON'T NEED IT! I did find some nifty things that I grabbed. But what was most impressive I was in line behind one person and when they were finished with their transaction I put my stuff on the counter. This older man I suppose felt he needed special attention cause he began putting his stuff on the counter and scooted me over for his transaction. The woman ringing me up said excuse me sir you need to give this lady some space while she is checking out. All of a sudden he saw me standing there. I'm not SURE what to make of the situation as far as WHY he decided he should simply get helped before me when I was standing in the same line as he was. There is nothing better than a store that focuses on one major thing: organization. The Container Store is located inside the plaza right off of Sepulveda Blvd where the Whole Foods market is at. I entered the store and was quickly greeted by one of the employees here whom also handed me a magazine with their updated prices, items and sale. There were so many different options, sizes, containers, boxes, and many many many other cool things here. I came here looking for a specific collection box for a set of collectibles I have and I found the exact one I needed for a reasonable price. I can't emphasize enough how many options size and colors they had in containers but I wasn't too surprised either because hello, this is called "The Container Store". Ok.... Hmm.. What can I write about this store? It's almost difficult to write anything except, "You should just...visit the store..it's kinda hard to explain." lol! First off... I had NO idea that I was visiting this store. My wife one day asked me to take a ride with her. I'm like... "Where are we going?" "Running some errands...," she swiftly answers.. "Let's go." We walk in and it's like I walked into container Heaven. They had every size, type, shape, style, application of a container known to man. (Well I may be exaggerating a little but...) They had an epic selection of containers. They also had some in between things like office chairs and things to aid in 'organization' around the house. DOES NOT STAND FOR QUALITY I am disappointed with the customer service. Regular customers pay extra $$ in exchange for selection of products curated with quality in mind. Have one of those products fail after 1st time use--in this case, a fancy side umbrella in sunny SoCal--and they WILL NOT accept the product back for credit and return to the defected product to the manufacturer. In fact, I was treated with a "raised eyebrow". I would expect that kind of treatment from a high volume, low quality discount store--not here--especially considering I am a loyal, long time Container Store customer. I've been a regular patron of the businesses at Plaza El Segundo for quite a few years now. But this morning as I do most days stop at Starbucks to get my regular drink, and I found that most of the parking had been blocked off. The yet to open Container Store blocked off half the parking for a pre-party. They haven't even opened and they're already pissed people, and future customers like me and surrounding business off. I found it and I'm sure many people did, to be really inconsiderate and suggests that if they're this inconsiderate toward surrounding business and the customers that frequent those places can you imagine how poor their customer service will be. I suppose it's a lesson for any future business on how not to conduct an opening. If you're a new business, you probably don't want to handle things the way The Container Store has. Now I get home and one of the uprights were cut so now I have to go to another store to exchange. Elfa is this thing and when employees have no clue time for some more training. I have been a big fan of the container store for over a decade. I love the mecca of organization and gadgets. The prices are reasonable. The store has a nice layout and helpful employees. They handle all your home organization needs. My toddler is also a huge fan of this store. He loves the broom area and the big boxes he can pick up and stack. It is one of the few stores that he enjoys going to. I am a huge fan of their apothecary jars and their travel bottles. I have had the same set of these for around 15 years, and they all look fantastic. In the back they have a sale area. I have not found a gem there yet, but you might get lucky. If you sign up for their e-mail list a few days prior to your shopping trip, they will send you a 10% off coupon. read more

I have been a customer for years, I usually opt for the store delivery or go to the Costa Mesa location. I had to come to this location to pick up a scheduled item that they had in stock so with the COVID procedures I know things are handled differently. I was set to pick up my order and notified through phone I was in front of the store. The person in charge of opening the door, Barbara, was very rude from the beginning. She told me my order was not ready so I said I would go inside the store meanwhile it was being sorted. She just had this very serious face and said sure. Mind you, there were people in front of me whom she kindly greeted inside 5 seconds earlier. I could hear her from across the room being extra friendly with all the white people coming in. A separate employee mentioned my order was ready and was very nice and told me to take my time shopping. So after I made a purchase I went by the door to leave and asked Barbara if the bagged order on the floor was mine she said nothing, just looked at me. So anyways I proceeded to pick up the bag and told her have a nice day and again, said nothing in response. So as I exited the door I asked for her name. I wanted to make sure customer service knew that this was 100% wrong. I felt discriminated against. She made it seem as if I was not welcomed in the store.
