We ordered furniture in October of 2025. A large order. The date kept being pushed back until finally February of 2026. Furniture was delivered, we requested the white glove delivery. They unboxed my husband's chair and it was broken. They set up the oversized chair, which so far is fine. The pull out sofa bed was set up as well. The ottoman was not in the delivery. Within one week the sofa was broken. Screws and hinges popped off. Husband contacted West Elm and they told him a part would be ordered or a new couch ordered by May. So, he does not have a chair to sit in, we cannot fold the bed up since it is broken so our living room is not usable, and we do not have any guarantee that this issue will be resolved anytime soon. I do not recommend this company. Prices are high and you do not get what you pay for. Customer service is non existent and quality of product is poor. I think we will return couch and go to Living Spaces. read more

Since you can't leave a review on the website (shady) I had to resort to yelp. We ordered a set of two gold sconces over the holidays online for a bathroom remodel. When they arrived, the finish was extremely yellow and did not match how they were represented online, so we returned them in the exact condition they were received. West Elm only issued a partial refund, not even the cost of one sconce. After calling customer service three separate times, they refused to refund the remaining balance, claiming they only received one item. Here's the problem: The original order itself was confusingly labeled "1 of 2," and the return label they provided said "1 of 1." We followed their instructions exactly and returned both sconces. Their internal scanning or labeling error is not our responsibility. Despite this, West Elm refused to resolve it, forcing us to contact our bank to dispute the charge. This experience felt incredibly shady and frustrating. Between misleading product photos and poor customer service that refuses to take accountability, I will not be ordering from West Elm again. I strongly recommend others be cautious, especially when ordering multi-item sets or making returns. read more

If you are looking for a $1,300 decorative paperweight that doubles as a safety hazard, then by all means, buy a West Elm recliner. If you actually expect a piece of furniture to last longer than a pair of sneakers, look elsewhere. I invested $1,300 into this chair, expecting "West Elm quality." What I got was a structural disaster. Within five years, this "premium" piece of furniture literally started shedding hardware. Screws have fallen out of the internal frame. I don't even know where they came from because the build quality is such a labyrinth of cheap shortcuts. The current state of this $1,300 investment: Mechanical Failure: The recliner portion refuses to go all the way back in. It hangs out like a broken limb, ruining the aesthetic and the function. Aural Torture: It squeaks so loudly when you sit down that it sounds like a rusted gate in a windstorm. There is zero "luxury" left in this experience. Zero Durability: For this price point, five years should be the "break-in" period, not the "total collapse" period. The most insulting part? West Elm's customer service. I contacted them to see if they would stand behind their expensive product, and the response was a resounding "not our problem." They have zero interest in accountability once they have your credit card number. They don't stand behind their products because they know exactly what they're selling: high-priced fast-furniture dressed up in a fancy catalog. Save your money and your sanity. Buy from a company that actually values its customers and understands the basic principles of furniture engineering. West Elm is a total letdown. read more

TLDR: If you order delivery of any item online or in-store you have a very high chance of your item getting locked up in delivery, constantly delayed, waiting multiple months. DO NOT order from there choose CB2 or literally Ebay, they're more reliable. November 9th 2024. We order our West Elm couch. It's a big purchase, about 4,000 dollars. They tell us it will be delivered on December 23rd. Seems fine. We wait. December 22nd we sell our old couch because of course, we're getting a new one. Morning of December 23rd we are texted hours before delivery that the delivery has had a problem. WE ARE NOT EMAILED, CALLED OR ANYTHING ELSE TO RESCHEDULE. A matter of fact there is no other confirmation of this cancellation besides a robotcall at 8 AM. We have no idea what is going on or why. On December 26th we call asking about our order. There was a stain of some sort. We're told they will fix it and it should arrive before the 30th. We didn't receive any correspondence after that. If I had not called, we would not know anything about our order or any time in which this couch may or may not get delivered. Now I am call about every other day. Finally someone helps me and reschedules it for the 11th. Fine. The 10th rolls around, we get the apartment ready for the couch. Then the 11th hits. No email, no messages, no texts, just no one shows up to delivery the couch. I call again. Same problems, there's no movement on the couch and another day is wasted. Through all of these delivery dates we have made amendments. We sell our previous couch on the night of the 22nd to make room for the new one. We requested the couch get delivered on the 23rd of December so that we could fly on the 24th to see my parents and stay until after new years. We change our flight to the 29th at an extra cost so that we can get the couch on the 30th. We arrange our weekend of Jan 11th so that we can intercept this couch. Doesn't come. I've called over 15 times. From customer service to store locations to the white glove delivery service. No one really can help or give me an accurate time table. Finally, today we cancel our order and it takes me threatening reporting this activity as fraudulent, which it objectively is, to my credit card provider. This story is not unique. DO NOT ever order delivery from West Elm. They are nothing more than scam artists with a pretty webpage. read more

DONT EVER BUY FROM HERE! - I wish i had researched more because a quick search will tell you not to shop from here.. and I wish I could give it -5 stars. here's my nightmare experience with West Elm. 9/1/23 - ordered sofa. estimated delivery date for dec. new delivery date for Feb 2024... 1/11/24 - called to cancel as it was taking way too long. told cancellation will take 3-5 days. also, I wasn't getting any updates as the salesperson wrote my email as hoitmail and not hotmail... finally get email update - this one stating my delivery has been delayed from 5/2 to 5/22... 1/18/24 - called to check on cancellation so I can go get a new sofa asap. they said they can't cancel as my order was "made to order". so as of now i have to wait until 5/22/24 (hopefully not further delayed) for a sofa I ordered on 9/1/23. read more

We perused West Elm for some new dining room furniture. Seems like most items are compressed wood with wood veneer. It was hard to find solid wood furniture. Most of the items are imported and they don't have them in stock. We are looking at a 30-40 day delivery estimate on a dining room table. The chairs are expected twice as long. So we will have a table without chairs for about a month. I don't know who is running West Elm but these logistics issues are not great. Aside from this hiccup, the customer service is friendly and as helpful as can be expected. They can tell you about furniture construction and it it's something in stock and for immediate delivery. We ended up ordering the furniture online with a protection plan in place. With wood veneers, it makes sense to buy a plan that will either repair or replace the investment. I would take a photo of our furniture but it won't be delivered for at least another month. read more

I have gone to this store twice, and each time I visited I felt invisible. The staff acted as though they were above me and did not even reach out to ask if I needed assistance. I bought a comforter set for my mother and asked the cashier if I could return it if she did not like it. Her body language was enough to make me want to just leave the store right then and there. I bought the item and after a few days of feeling into this situation I decided to return the item. When I returned the same energy was there and three different staff members all but ignored me and acted as though they had very important work to do and talked amongst themselves while I waited with my unopened item with the receipt still stapled to the bag. A super easy return and no comment, no why did you return this, or can we help you find something that will work for your mom. The staff was snotty and unhelpful. I will never step foot in this store again. read more

I gotta say, the person who helped us at this West Elm was fantastic. I wish I could remember his name. We had purchased some bedding online during the 4th of July sale, and when it arrived, the color didn't work well in our space. I took it back to the store a few days later hoping to exchange it for another color, but the sale was over and the policy is that if it was bought online, they can't just swap out the color for you in store for the same price if the sale has ended. But the man working at the cash register was so nice and took pity on us, and made the even exchange. We were so grateful, and the new color works perfectly and we are so in love with our new bedding. We will also never hesitate to shop at West Elm in the future because of this staff member's flexibility. read more
