Went mattress shopping today to replace a full sized mattress for our teen. As there are numerous stores in the South Bay of LA and having experience in visiting many over the years, I zeroed in on two that got my attention. One was an old stand by that I have frequented before and there was one that I was new to but has been around. Started at the one that I was unfamiliar with, Mattress Stop in the city of Lawndale. Good selection of all the name brands as well as off brands that were reasonably priced and still offered quality. Greeted by friendly manager, David, who was there to assist us through the entire process that was full of knowledge and hassle free service. Very personable individual who took the time to understand what level of mattress we were looking for and then directed us to what his store had to offer in that category. We were shown 3 different lines of mattresses to choose from and explained what each had to offer in construction and character. He did not sell us on any particular one, instead he allowed us to decide as picking one is based on personal preference to the users comfort. Everyone is different and the price isn't always an indicator of what is best. Spent time on our own to sit, roll, and lay on all of them repeatedly till one mattress stood out. My teen had a hard time picking between two of different construction-memory foam and coils respectively. Ultimately, she chose traditional coils which was manufactured by Spinal Care/Sunset Plush Model. David worked with us on pricing and gave us the best deal that he could based on the manufacturer and without getting in trouble with his boss (local business, family owned). Delivery/set up/haul away was free which is scheduled next day. Didn't even give my go to corporate store a chance as I preferred to support small, local owned business and appreciated the high level of customer service I received from David. Planning a repeat visit now to replace our Cal King mattress in the near future with David. read more

Rich who helped me was able to procure me a same day delivery which I desired as my back was killing me from the broken support. Was the price I expected but the service was what made this a five star experience. He delivered at 8p that night and even though it was the incorrect foundation he stated that he would replace it the next day if we didn't like it. And that's what happened and we got what we wanted. I had the same mattress for about 10 years and it was time to replace it. In the past, I typically purchased budget mattresses. As a combination sleeper (side and back), I did not know what type of mattress to purchase. The issue was that I would wake up i the morning with either shoulder or lower back pain. David took the time to educate me on the different types of mattress that would help resolve these issues. David answered all of my questions and had me lay on each of the types of mattress until I decided on the perfect mattress that fit my needs. I ended up selecting the Beauty Rest Black Series 3 for the pressure relief and temperature management. David pulled up pricing from different websites to help compare the cost and offered a lower price from each of the different listing. I went to 4 different mattress stores in the area to compare prices and David at the Mattress Stop had the best price. The experience was excellent and I decided to take my parents and siblings to the Mattress Stop as well to sample different mattresses. David was very patient and accommodating to my elderly parents. My parents and sibling ended up selecting Tempur Pedic Mattress. David set us up with free delivery and setup of the mattresses. The deal also included free mattress protectors and a bed frame. The team that delivered the 3 mattresses set everything up in about 20 minutes! They were friendly, professional, and accommodating to all of our requests. I wanted to wait for at least 30 days of sleeping on the mattress until I posted this review to make sure that I thoroughly tested it. I am happy to report that I have had the best sleep in a long time. I am sleeping throughout the night and I believe that it is due to the cooling technology built into the mattress. Moreover, I have not woken up in the morning with shoulder or back pain! Overall, David gave my family and I the best mattress shopping experience in addition to beating the competition's pricing. I picked Mattress Stop on a whim based on all the positive reviews on Yelp compared to other stores in the area and proximity to my home. I spoke to Dave on the phone around 2pm on 6/16/25 inquiring if the store would be able to deliver a mattress on the same day. He told me he might be able to depending on which mattress of course and if it was in stock. I headed over around 3pm and had my son pick out a mattress he liked. He chose a floor model that Dave looked up on the internet to show us what others were selling it for and offered a 50% discount without me prompting. He said he could accommodate same day delivery, but it would be easier logistically for tomorrow evening. Since it wasn't extremely urgent, we agreed to a delivery the following evening at 8pm. My son picked out a mattress within 15 min with Dave's assistance. We had fun trying out other mattresses in the showroom as he rang us up. All the reviews stating it was not high pressured sales was the same experience for us, which is refreshing. Dave is knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. Richard arrived just before 8pm and delivered the queen sized mattress quickly by himself within minutes including taking the old mattress away at no extra cost. After visiting two businesses, we came across Mattress Stop, a small inconspicuous shop on Hawthorne Boulevard across from Hertz Car Rental. We strolled into the store and were greeted promptly by the manager, David Song. Our first thought was that we would be subjected to high-pressure sales tactics, but we were astonished to find a kind, easygoing, and really informed man. He answered all of our inquiries, let us take our time trying out different mattresses, and even tolerated my husband's unusual sense of humor. Mattress Shop is modest, but it has a good assortment of mattresses from all major brands. In fact, they have a bigger selection of high-quality mattresses than a larger store like Living Spaces, which was the second place we visited before coming to Mattress Stop. Their pricing were also quite attractive. All of the stores were having Memorial Day specials, but Mattress Stop provided a greater discount, and David tossed in a set of pillows and a mattress cover for free. We were offered next-day delivery and the option to replace our mattress if we were dissatisfied for any reason. There is a small restocking charge, and the second delivery is not free, but it is a convenient option to have. David and Mattress Stop strive to make sure that customers are satisfied with their purchase and the service they received. I would advise against the inefficient practice of visiting multiple stores in person, as time is a precious resource that should not be squandered.
