My friend and I went to look at furniture yesterday afternoon and I was very impressed with the showroom. Tiffany helped us out and let us know that almost everything is customizable. From the fabric to the type of cushions. The possible combinations are endless. We came across a teal leather chair and it was so beautiful. I wanted to know if it could be made into a couch and sure enough, it could be. Hopefully, I will be able to work this into my budget. We were able to take our time and there was no pressure at all. I purchased a sofa from the Torrance store in January 2019. Fabric is nice, which is the best thing I can say about this awful sofa. I ordered FIRM but the seat cushions are saggy and flimsy and the back cushions extra firm. I have just had a private furniture company redo the couch, except for the frame and fabric. The entire lower inside part of the sofa including springs needs to be replaced and the cushions newly stuffed. Looks fine on the outside, inside is substandard and not cheap. Don't buy. Update: I called Ethan Allen in Torrance CA about this sofa. I spoke to the manager, Elle, and she came out a couple days later, inspected the couch and took care of everything. I am super impressed with how responsive and responsible Elle and Ethan Allen have been. So 5 stars for service and they have lovely things. I have several EA pieces, dining room table, chairs and breakfront, and another sofa. If you purchase from EA in Torrance CA, and there is a problem, do not hesitate to call. Came here to see furniture. I read about this company online and how modern all the furniture is. The furniture is amazing but the workers gave me an annoying feeling. I sat at a table to try out the chairs to see if it was comfortable for something I wanted in my dinning room. I look across the room and the worker looks at me (not even blinking) as if I was a homeless person sat at the table. Pro : interior designer greeted me and asked if I needed help with anything. This rating is for Sue, one of the design consultants who helped us. I would highly recommend that you ask for her personally. We have worked with two other consultants in the past who we would not work with again. Sue steered us from making a bad purchase on oversized artwork that would not fit the space we wanted it for. Another consultant did not even measure our wall or the artwork! Turns out it would have been too big and not returnable. Sue also helped us order some family room furniture which turned out beautiful and moderned up the place! Will always ask for Sue in the future. read more

I am "over the moon" with my newly created living room designed by YOUNG TANAKA. Young is awesome and I highly recommend her. Young took the time to come to my home to measure the space, design and update the look of the room, and incorporate some of my favorite existing pieces. Young has an amazing eye for color and for placement of furniture. She has great ideas and did not pressure me in any way. The entire process was a great experience. We had a terrible flood in our home and were forced to cancel our bed order. After a dispute over the special order cancellation fee, with no one returning our phone calls, we went to the store in Torrance to straighten it out with the sales person who took the order. They found their copy of the order, and I asked to see it. Only after looking at the order form, we saw that someone in the store had forged my signature. They would not tell me who forged my name, but we did manage to get them to cancel the restocking fee and my order. Even after this fiasco, they continue mailing me their high class, glossy advertisements. I would not purchase anything from this or any other Ethan Allen store any where in the country, ever! I feel an updated review is warranted. Michelle, the store manager, was very instrumental in helping us with the original piece of furniture we were interested in -- especially after the mishap. She worked closely with another store location in getting our questions answered, kept the lines of communication open with me and even had the piece transferred to this store. Today, my husband and I went in to look at it and were assisted by a lovely designer, Lisa B. who was very helpful in giving us direction. We ended up purchasing the piece -- and even enjoyed the water we were offered. We will continue to do business at this location. read more

They have great quality of furniture. Podcasting fabrics. Prices are a little high for the quality. But these days it's so hard to find anything that will break in a year. So I do recommend them. I have a bedroom dresser that is about 30 years old. And I used to have two loveseats with two Side tables with a matching coffee table 2 lamps that I got for the family room about 30 years ago that I got rid of about seven years ago when I moved. I was very fortunate to meet my interior designer, Laura Whipp, in their Torrance store. Laura is so talented and knowledgeable. She helped me design a set of custom made sofas and chairs that are beyond my expectations. Each piece is so beautiful on its own and goes amazingly well with the rest. The craftsmanship, the quality, and the customer services are totally worth the investment. My family and I are giving Ethan Allen, and Laura, the thumbs up. Although we like the furniture we purchased from Ethan Allen it is only a few years old- and it looks much older-it needs a full upgrade- cleaning and refill of all the pillows and cushions. I am incredibly disappointed with the warranty coverage I purchased and it has colored my whole experience with ethan allen since I particularly invested in their furniture with the promise from their designer and sales representatives that if I purchased the extra Guardsman coverage any spills or damage will be covered for 5 years- well its only a few years in and they wont cover the cleaning needed nor will they refill the pillows as promised. I ask that ethan allen rectify this now. read more

We were shopping for bedroom furniture and purchased a set at Lauren's Furniture right next door to Ethan Allen. We were in the area because we were looking at additional pieces and popped into EA. Once we told the sale woman we'd already bought a bedroom set, she started to bad mouth her competitor, and it was so awkward and unnecessary . She actually told us to go get our money back and cancel the order. Unbelievable! We saved so much and really love our new furniture. Lauren's Fine Furniture was willing to haggle about the price and gave us a huge discount Everything at EA was so over priced. Sorry EA one star!!! read more

I've never in over ten years had a bad experience with this place until recently when designer Kathy ordered my table pad in the wrong size. She told me she would order a new one for me and every few weeks i would ask for the status and she would repeatedly say it was in "production." well, three MONTHS passed and i finally asked the store manager David about it. He gave me some story full of lies and when i pointed that out he claimed that he was only telling me what Kathy told him! So I go to the next in charge, Michelle Ursini. She has no clue what is going on and only offered to place the order for my table pad but offered no apology for her staff's error. What a load of crap this place has given me. read more

I went into this store to purchase a sofa. I appreciated the help I was given and felt that they treated me with respect. The design consultant who helped me assisted in selecting a sofa that best met my requirements and also picked out multiple fabric swatches in the color I was looking for. She said she could come out to my place with the swatches to see how they worked in that lighting and also measure to make sure the sofa would fit in the space. I thought that sounded awesome! So, I called a few weeks later to schedule an appointment for her to come out and found out the design consultant I worked with at the store was no longer with the company. They were also unable to find my file with the fabric swatch numbers so we had to start the process all over. Not a great way to start out. However, I was able to describe everything over the phone and the next consultant I worked with arrived at my place with swatches in the correct color and I was able to place my order. The new person I worked with was very friendly and she gave periodic updates on the progress of my order, which I appreciated. The delivery company finally called (it took about 7 weeks for the sofa to ship and another week and a half for the delivery company to call me after I had received a message from the design consultant that the sofa was shipping!) and left a voicemail to set up a time for delivery of my sofa. I called the number I was given multiple times and always got a voice mailbox. I never called in and actually had someone answer the phone. After multiple calls with no luck I left a message. A day later I got a return phone call at a time I was unavailable (in order to afford a couch at Ethan Allen prices I have to work!) with a standard voice mail to call back in. No additional extensions were given in case I again reached a voice mailbox. I was therefore forced to call back in and leave yet another message. I called the Torrance store because I didn't quite feel this was the customer service experience that should come with an Ethan Allen purchase. The person I spoke with asked me for additional numbers where I could be reached, clearly not understanding the issue - setting up the delivery appointment should not be at times that are convenient for the delivery company, they should be at times that are convenient for the customer. She called the number herself and actually spoke with someone. Only at that point did I get a quick return phone call from the company. It seemed quite convenient that the delivery company answered the phone when the store called but not when a customer does. Ethan Allen product is not cheap. So the service a customer receives should be on par with the price they are paying for that product. The service I received from the delivery company was not close to on par with the price I paid which was extremely disappointing. While my biggest issue is with the delivery company, I do feel that it's a reflection on Ethan Allen. If the delivery company doesn't have enough people to take phone calls from customers then they should not be the company Ethan Allen works with. Deliveries are always challenging for customers as it is because the time-frames the customers are given are usually many hours long, resulting in the customer waiting around at home for the truck to arrive. I expect that. I did not expect to have to play phone tag with the company to set up the time in the first place or be asked to give more numbers to be reached at, as if I didn't have anything better to do than wait for them to call me whenever it was best for their schedule, without taking into account mine. I would definitely hesitate to do business with Ethan Allen in the future and would also hesitate to recommend the company. I look forward to enjoying my sofa but this experience still leaves a bad taste in my mouth which is why I'm giving the company the rating I am on Yelp. read more

I only knew I wanted a Coastal Cottage look when I walked in. Their designer, Clarese, is AMAZING. I haven't been happy with other Ethan Allen designers in the past, because they didn't seem to have a lot of good ideas or even a design sense. But Clarese really is a designer. Terrible service after the sale. We will never (and I mean never) do business with this company again. Each part of the company is split into factions which do not communicate with each other and no one takes ultimate responsibility for ensuring the customer receives the merchandise when promised, or receives good service at all. The wood chairs we ordered took 4 weeks longer than promised, no explanation given. The delivery group did not call when they were supposed to and also did not keep the delivery timing. No explanation and no apology given. Had to call the store at least a dozen times to get some type of status, because the staff there doesn't follow up with their clients. Often times no one answers the phone. Paid absolutely top dollar for the furniture and could have similar quality at half the price and received it in one-tenth of the lead time, and with much better service. Stay away from this company if you expect good service or reliable scheduling. They suck. read more

When you walk in the door, that person "owns you" and it may not be the one with whom you would choose to facilitate the decision process let alone come into your home to discuss options. Not only did Denise patiently guide me through selecting new items, she expertly ensured that my favorite pieces look like they belong and are meant to be exactly where they are. The entire room still looks and feels comfortable and familiar, only now it's a space that is also sophisticated and beautiful. Denise was enjoyable to work with and worked within my budget. We are having a nightmare dealing with this design center. We purchased China cabinet for over $3,000 and it was delivered in a poor condition - 1) door does not slide open. 2) adhesives on a middle panel attached to a window fell off. 3) leveling was broken so the deliveryman was unable to leverage. So we requested for a return and a money back. But the design center manager is forcing us to accept the next step where they wanted to assess the product and decide from there. We don't have time to go through these steps and we weren't comfortable if these issues can even be fixed or not. Even if they are fixed, it is no longer a new product! Their customer service has gone terrible in last several years! I would never recommend Ethan Allen to my friends ever again. All we want is to return the defected product and get a full refund. read more

My husband and I drove all the way from Westwood to Torrance to visit the design center to purchase a dining table along with the chairs. We were a little skeptical about whether or not we are choosing the right table so Kathy helped us find a set that we absolutely loved. I am a very difficult client and know exactly what I want. Kathy was super kind and patient with us and a complete professional. she gave me the best ideas ever and helped me go through almost every fabric in the store. My husband and I love our dining set. I would give EA a five, but after reading some of the bad reviews, I will reserve my five for six months to see if its product holds up. My mother recently had a horrible experience here. The sales associates here were generally nice (Tiffany helped out a lot in previous visits), but the manager, specifically Michelle Ursini, was extremely rude. Over the course of 4 months, my mother spent over $10,000 in furniture purchases at this store, so technically she should be a valued customer. However, when she asked for a simple wrapping for the chairs that she bought today, she was refused service by Michelle and was treated very poorly. Michelle spoke to her in an condescending tone and discredited my mother with an arrogant attitude. I would go as far as suspecting that Michelle was racist towards my mother and treated her differently just because she didn't fit in the usual demographic that would shop at Ethan Allen. Michelle, if you see this, I suggest you do some introspection and re-evaluate how you treat your customers. STAY AWAY !!! We purchased a $6,660 dining room from Ethan Allen in Torrance. A few months later, the varnish on the chair started coming off, screws began to fall out of the chairs, and they generally looked worn down after just 8-9 months. There are no kids or animals in the home, yet they look worn down. When we reached out to the store, the manager, Michelle Ursini was extremely rude and refused to help us out. Her response was that "the service dept determined that it was from "customer misuse" and that there was nothing they would do. Our "misuse" is that we use this dining room with family every other week for dinner. Basically, Ethan Allen furniture wears out after 12-15 uses. On top of it, when we were purchasing, we asked the salesperson if our furniture was made in the US, and she said "yes it is". When screws started falling out of the chairs, we turned the chair around and realized they were made in Indonesia. This store has terrible quality furniture, and the only thing worse than their furniture is their after service once they have sold you furniture. The manager Michelle Ursini was by far the rudest, most arrogant and least professional manager I've ever dealt with. She kept saying "we stand by our product, we are not responsible for how customers decide to use it however"...as if I am using this dining room to host all my zoo animals! read more

I went into the Torrance, CA store knowing exactly what I wanted. The designer came out to measure to make sure it fit in my house. When it arrived, it did not fit. This was partially my fault because of my indecision but I was charged a $150 restocking fee to reorder the correct size. After protest, I was told I could use that $150 as store credit within 30 days. Long story short, two days before the new product was to be delivered, I found out I was getting a floor model. I told them I had not ordered that and did not want it. In fact, they told me it was "slightly damaged" and never offered additional discount Another fact, all the sale items they showed me were floor samples, they finally admitted. I was not aware of this. I was never informed of this. I felt as though they were secretly trying to unload damaged stock on me. I refused the delivery and made them order a new one. It took another two weeks to finally get my delivery. I love the product! I have an entire house to furnish but because the service at this store is so terrible, i'm going elsewhere for the rest of my furniture and forfeit the $150 credit. They lost $10,000-$15,000 in purchases from me. Never will I purchase anything again from Ethan Allen. read more
