Their inventory of "home goods" is larger, better, & competitively priced in comparison to its sister companies, whereas its sisters are better for discounted name brand clothing & footwear. While HG also stocks snacks, treats, coffees & teas, etc., I felt they were priced slightly higher than Marshalls. Over the years, I alternated between this location at Torrance Crossroads & the one in Torrance Promenade on Hawthorne Blvd. for great deals on bedding, blankets, cookware & kitchenware, etc. In this latest trip, I was hoping to replace my black-colored kitchen utensils (may contain toxic flame retardants, probably due to contamination during recycling) with silicon ones. The kitchenware section was a tad cluttered & messy, & I didn't find any sets that I like for the replacement. However, I did find some cute & interesting items for Christmas gifts like the Hello Kitty glassware, & a jar of chili peach jelly. What was a surprising discovery at this location is their pet supplies! While there's more dog-related inventory, the cat tree, kitty house, & food bowls were pretty cute. This location by my house has great finds. They always have such random stuff for the house but those random items always work. I was looking for a set of pillows for my couch something to change the look and found the perfect pair and paid $30 for them. I also scored some Mason Brand Glass Tupperware that are essential in my home no more plastic for us. Love the different sizes they carried and they are perfect for packing lunches and picnics. I was on the look out for a new feeding tray for my dog and I feel Homegoods always has the best stuff along with Marshalls & TJ Max. You get great items and don't have to empty your pocket at these other stores. I score a beautiful wooden tray and the little plates were a bit bigger than what he had and they matched the decor we have in the house as well. Their lines can be a bit big sometimes but they are super quick to address that and get the line flowing. Their bathrooms are always clean and the staff here are very helpful. I'm not sure what happened, but she was coaching a cashier at the register in front of customers. She was tripping out on her so badly that the customer ended up defending her. I was amazed to find so many selections at this location. The store was packed with holiday clearance items, furniture , and even Valentine's Day items. My niece was able to find two great furniture pieces. For the first day we went here, the employees and Reggie were very helpful. The next day we came back to pick up the other piece of furniture. Unfortunately the young associates who helped us load the furniture were not very careful when placing the item in the car. My niece's finger was slightly injured (since she was assisting adjusting the furniture in the car). They were just in a hurry to go back inside the store. Didn't even ask if she was okay. Maybe remind the young associate clerks to be aware and more cautious when loading items. read more

Went to this Home Goods today and had an experience with a very rude employee, Lily, at the cash register. I love Home Goods and usually have a great experience with their staff, but this lady in particular was very unpleasant. I had a great time shopping and then while I was waiting in line I noticed she was just standing behind doing nothing and didn't even notice the line building up. Their kitchen and foods/ingredients were incredibly stocked - we picked up half a liter of first pressed Italian olive oil for $20, white truffle oil for $10, Himalayan pink salt (3 lbs for $7 and other goodies normally double these prices. Beware electronics buyers! I returned a defective electronic item and the cashier put it back on the sales floor ten minutes later with no markings indicating it's broken!! I went to the homegoods in Torrance on Hawthorne 12/15/24 and bought a candle warmer. That same day, I plugged it in and quickly realized it didn't work. I went to the homegoods in Torrance on Crenshaw the next day 12/16/24 to return it and told the cashier that it did not work multiple times. I then walked around the store for 15 minutes and then ended up in the candle aisle again so I could look for another candle warmer to replace the one I just returned. I found the exact broken device I had just returned in the aisle!!! I could tell it was the exact one I returned based on the way the cable looked in the see through packaging and the fact it was the only one of that brand!!! As I was looking for a new one, I saw a woman pick up my returned item and put it in her cart. I had to go up to her and tell her not to buy it because it's broken! She thanked me because she said she was going to wrap it up and gift it to her daughter for Christmas. Horrible service from homegoods! read more

My husband sat in the easy chair as I sat in the outdoor swing chair pricemarked at 299. They are in the TJX family of stores so I often find the price points very good and perhaps lower than their primary competitors. People on the sales floor and cash registers have always been courteous and efficient to me. I've been looking for the "perfect" area rug. When I arrived there were a pile of about 10 rugs but that didn't discourage me! No way!!! In fact the cashier paged Derrick who was on lunch so instead I got the store manager - Cyndy who was amazing! She got her knife to open up the rugs so that I could see them! Then another customer came and I said, "please help her , I'll be here" then she got another person to help me. This HomeGoods location's parking lot gets crazy crowded on weekdays. The plaza has a Home Depot & a ton of restaurants so I don't go near the place at lunchtime. Sunday morning is the best time to go. Their (unclaimed) Yelp listing says they open at 9:30 Sundays. So at 9:30 I was there, along with several other people. Somebody noticed their sign on the door said open at 11 Sundays. Whaaaat! A couple ladies began pushing & tugging on the door. At that point, fearing a mini riot, I made like a hockey player & got the puck outta there & walked across the parking lot to PetCo. When I returned at 10:15 HomeGoods was open. And the auto entrance door mechanism was broken. Oops. They were allowing shoppers to enter thru the exit door. A manager was attempting to fix the door. I told him about the 9:30 Sunday hours on Yelp. He responded that all content on the site is added by users. Duh. I began to explain that businesses can control the hours posted, got a blank stare, gave up & headed for the bargains. Anyway: they currently open at 10 on Sunday. Forget everything else you read, it's 10. I was in the store for 2 hours! The items offered are pretty much similar except they have more and with better choices. I ended up finding things I didn't even realize I needed! I normally don't believe in providing low ratings at a discount store. It almost getting mad at a high school athlete for not having Olympian talent. However, there are some (low) expectations that should be met and it certainly didn't feel that way in my last visit. Every now and then, I pop into HomeGoods to see what kind of goodies are laying around to decorate my house with. I found and purchased a lamp at the El Segundo location, and happily found a matching one at the Torrance location. The catch is, the lamp shades didn't match. So I ask the cashier if I can swap the shades so the lamps match. She asks her manager, who shot down the request. Her reasoning was "it is against our policy to do so." I'm not sure if she realized how contradictory her statement is considering I had two lamps in each hand with different shades. It's not like I'm sabotaging every HomeGoods by switching lamp shades... The unfortunate reality is customer service and sales are not a priority at this store. HomeGoods is located in the same large outdoor shopping complex that houses stores like Home Depot. Home Depot is a good thing to look for if you are coming here for the first time as you can clearly see it from Crenshaw. Once inside the parking lot, HomeGoods is to the South, over by In-and-Out. HomeGoods is a cluttered store. Every isle is filled with all kinds of stuff. So, you should take a bit of time and look around as you never know what you will find. I have even purchased a very large cat scratcher tree at this location. They have everything! Prices are very reasonable here. So, you are not going to be overwhelmed. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like this is the first time this associate has been very rude to customers because of I have read other reviews mentioning how rude she has been in the past. Department store on the outside; swap meet on the inside. The complete lack of organization in this "store" is completely appalling. There are no labels for any of the sections so if you want to shop here, be prepared to waste a ton of time looking for where your items are before actually getting to look through them. The employees aren't helpful and spend their time trying to push you out to NOT spend money rather than helping you or helping the business they allegedly depend on/work for. This is especially true for the last hour of business, as the employees get on the loud speaker EVERY 10 minutes to remind you that they're closing soon and would rather you just leave instead of spending your money with them. To make matters worse, the employees hold up the checkout line by stopping it just to get on the speaker and remind people that they want them to leave. (Not to mention they rushed everyone into that line before they were ready to begin with.) They're so focused on pushing people out, they refuse do the jobs they're actually paid to do in a professional, let alone appropriate, manner. If you are looking for a positive shopping experience or want some retail therapy, stay away from this place. If you like being badgered by someone to leave while you're trying to shop and give them your money, this is the place for you! The cleanness of the store was a little messy for my taste instead of 5 stars 4 stars will suffice. Overall I like this store. The employees are helpful and friendly, not snooty at all, and the prices are good. I've been here before when they have their sale around Christmas and offer coffee and pastries, and it's great! Suzanne and Kathy the ultimate Karen's. I just watched pathetic Kathy who is a 70 year old white lady refuse to wrap an older gentleman's cups because they weren't glass. She turned around to the coordinator Suzanne to ask for permission which then led to another no! Can you believe this? This is by far the worst home goods as far as customer service that I've ever gone to. I spend lots of money between the three brands and Suzanne got my name to report me to her LP department for saying I'm going to take this to corporate- different issue but the main issue is they're rigid and inflexible at this store and they hire broke old women who are witchy. HomeGoods is just another division of TJ Maxx, except like its name implies, it focuses more on home goods, such as furniture, lighting. kitchen goods, bathroom-related items, and anything you would need for your house. At TJ Maxx, sometimes you can find great bargains for fashion and here, you can find great bargains for your home. You can also think of it as a.. much more organized Tuesday Morning! Now, the best part about HomeGoods for me is their ktichen/pantry/food section. It's almost like a treasure hunt. Sometimes you can find some awesome brand names. Most people would not think of buying perishable items here but I've bought Illy coffee beans, Ghiradelli chocolate gift sets, organic pasta from Italy, Himalayan sea salt, and even Torani flavored syrups for your drinks! My favorite discovery though is that sometimes they will carry TRUFFLE OIL! I'm a huuuuuge sucker for anything with truffle in it and the first time I saw it, bought a bottle to try it out, used it with my pasta and sauces, and gotta say... I probably saved myself a few bucks by making my own truffle dishes rather than going on and paying for it :P I've tried truffle flavored infused oil, oil with truffle pieces in it, truffle oil from Italy, truffle oil from California, and even this truffle oil in a spray bottle. They are all legit, and especially the truffle oil in the spray bottle... perfect for making your own truffle fries! Their pitch is that you can save up to 60% off department and specialty store prices. Obviously, these items have been marked off so drastically because no one else wanted them. So, this store specializes in those items that only 1% of people would actually like (e.g., a ceramic flower vase that looks like a rain boot). If you've ever found yourself enjoying the Home Furnishings section of TJ Maxx, or Target to a lesser extent, you might have a good time @ HomeGoods.
