This Container Store is conveniently located in El Segundo, CA, at Plaza El Segundo. The plaza lot provides ample, free parking even during Christmastime. I used to really enjoy walking inside to get ideas for organization and storage. I'd take photos of the items including their dimensions to see how they size up in the spaces at home. Then I'd come back for purchases. I also loved looking at all the gadgets and random stuff everywhere. Things that I thought existed, yet, never saw any other big box place, could be found at this Texas-headquartered retail store. Usually service was good, but the last couple of times I came in they were either swamped with other customers or too busy to assist little ol' me. Not even a word was said to me until I got the counter my last visit. I'm not in a rush to order anything online or curbside pickup from them as my experience has been terrible thus far. read more

Choose a different location. This store leaves more to be desired in the area of customer service. Danielle (Store Associate) seems to allow customers to cut the line. While I standing in line, she instructed her colleagues to take someone ahead of me and the other waiting customers. The person wasn't in line. Instead, she was standing on the store floor chatting up sorority rush with Danielle. I guess due to the shared rapport, that individual didn't have to stand in line with the other waiting customers. "Contain yourself" says their paper shopping bags. Once upon a time their building used to be a Borders bookstore and I didn't think I would have a need to go to a Container Store. Many years later, I found myself returning two organizational items next door to them. My husband and I were in the market for some glass meal prep items to replace the plastic ones we were previously using. Wish I remembered her name but, the lady on the sales floor on a late Sunday afternoon was great! She not only pointed me in the right direction of where the meal prep items are, she checked on me minutes later from clear across the store. I did purchase some good quality glassware for meal prepping. Anyway, the store has just about everything one would need for home organizational needs. It was close to closing time when I checked out at the counter. The cashier seemed to have been tired and ready to go home. She was a little out of it. I had a custom elfa install done which went perfectly smooth with excellent communication by the El Segundo team. I also installed several back-of-door storage systems and they were fast and easy to help custom cut some pieces in-store to fit my doors. This review is solely based on the customer service experience. While waiting to pick an online order, I decided to shop around for other product. While shopping for product I over heard a cashier, Eva, tell another guest "the line forms where the sign says the line forms" in a rude way. As if that could sound nice? Brushed it off, did the shopping and came up to the cash register. When it was my turn I came up to her and greeted her with a "good morning" and she completely ignored me. I literally organize for a living so I had everything sorted and counted for her to make it easier for her because it was a $700+ purchase. I've shopped there multiple times and never have they taped the containers. She knew I was questioning her and she said "we have to do this so the camera knows you bought them" I'm like ummm? And I know they don't do this regularly because I went back literally a week later and unfortunately had her check me out and she didn't do it. Anyway. The rest of the entire staff is so so nice and helpful so as long as you can avoid her your experience will be fine. read more

The Container Store needs to stop selling, "Richard's Moth Repellent herbal sachets." It does just the opposite. Yesterday I looked in my closet in absolute HORROR to see a "live moths farm "on the sachet and a giant hole on my new cashmere-sweater, behind the sachet, where they are feeding. Small white winged moths crawling all over. It happened to another sweater and there's holes in all my wool clothes as they migrated to other sweaters in my closet. I'm complaining to this manufacturer asap. I'm writing to warn others, don't use this product!!!! I found other reviewers on Amazon who had the same horrible experience with it !! read more

Bins & boxes & organization, I'm all about that!! And I love The Container Store! I have been coming here for years, they have everything you need to get organized in your home or office. They run the gamut from custom closet renovations to little jars for your cooking spices. Plus, around Christmas they have a great selection of stocking stuffers and isles of beautiful wrapping papers! The stores are very well laid out so you can find what you are looking for or simply wander around and find that item that you didn't realize you needed more than anything! I've been to several Container Store locations and I can't say this is the best because they are all pretty awesome. But as for the El Segundo location in particular there is a huge parking lot, the store is spacious & always clean and the customer service is always great - Friendly and helpful! One thing that I have used a couple of times, which is great for bigger items, store pick up for online purchases. You don't even have to get out of your car, just hit a link in your email and they will bring it out and out it in your car! read more

Looking around, I was able to find a solution to the problem of perfume & cologne storage on a limited shelf space - go vertical with a plexiglass (acrylic plastic?) pedestal display that allows some of the bottles to be displayed under it as well as on top of it. No fancy custom build drawer in your cabinet just for sunglasses? Acrylic Sunglass Drawers to the rescue! I really like their selection of travel purses that can fit a ton of stuff (and organize them) in one purse. Their clothes bags selections are also awesome. I did an order pick up here. I came on the date specified and picked up the majority of my items. They said the other ones had an arrived yet and they were going to have them for a separate pick up time. I finally heard from them about a month later saying that they had two bags that have been sitting there for me waiting, but I had never been notified. I came in to pick them up and they said they were had been returned because I hadn't picked them up! I got another call a few days later saying they still had bags for me. I went back to the store and they said they didn't have any. It was getting very frustrating! On my second trip to the store I spoke with a sales woman named Eva. She was quite abrupt and a little rude...obviously impatient and disbelieving. (Even after I showed her the call info in my phone). Everyone else was very cheerful and helped as much as they could, tho that wasn't much. Pretty disappointed in the service and confusion. Mixed feelings here. I love the container store, and I really like this location. The staff is amicable, and the store is always stocked and organized. My complaint is more with the Elfa product process. This is not the staff's fault. They did wonderfully. It's the new company process. My husband and I have been buying Elfa closets for many years and truly love them. They used to offer installation where everything was brought to your home and installed. That's it! Now you have to correlate pickup of your closet either by Dolly or yourself and then pay a percentage of the total cost to install it. We found this process to be highly taxing. So we decided to get my closet to be functional. Decided on this sleek looking ELFA setup. Real talk, it's niiiiiice. I can actually fully see my dress clothes, in between (but I still wanna out dress you) clothes, and kick it clothes so easily. Daniel was our design rep and he was phenomenal. He understood what I wanted, understood and used my made up terms for real products, and just killed it on the setup. A few days after we installed it ourselves, he emailed just to thank us and check on our progress. Definitely 5 Star customer service. This location always has helpful people working there. They're pleasant and actually seem to like what they do. Even so, Daniel really stood out, as he got the items ready for pickup the very next day. This is strictly for the closet purchasing experience. We purchased the elfa system after doing a virtual consultation (which was actually convenient and great!). We did curbside pick up 2 weeks after ordering it, and later that night someone from the store called me and said there's a pack of wooden screw they forgot to include, and asked me to go back to get them. I told them I don't live close and I have to work all day and finally they agreed to ship it to me (after several follow up calls). The installer came a week later to install and turns out they forgot another 6 items and the installer can't finish the installation. He also couldn't get in touch with The Container Store at the time so he said I need to follow up with them on Monday. On Monday a random box showed up at my house with all the missing parts so someone at the store must've realized that they forgot all the parts?? But no one reached out to me to schedule a follow up appointment to finish the job. So I called the store and was transferred twice before reaching someone who basically said they will call me back or the installer will call me back directly. Did not hear back. So I called the installation team directly today, and all they could offer was they will have the installer call me directly but they have no control over the installers' schedule. The Container Store have made zero effort to rectify their mistake and can't even promise a priority installation date to finish the job that should've been done already. The closet looks good and I would still recommend it. So if you do order a closet system from them, make them double check in front of you to make sure you have all the parts before you leave the store! Otherwise you will be spending a lot of time calling them and following up before you get a complete closet. read more

The worst customer service ever! Curbside pick ups take 30 mins and then they come out and accuse that you just drove in. They don't bother to call you when they can't find you. Also, I ordered like $3000 worth from them. On a separate occasion (same order), when we picked up our stuff, we were missing 40 hangers. I called the general manager and he was so snarky saying it is back ordered and "you received an email to notify you." I said I checked my emails and junk mail and didn't receive it. He did not believe me when I was customer. He said I will receive an email when it arrives to notify me and the email never came. So after weeks I called them to check and lord and behold it is here without notification What I am most baffled by is the entitlement and accusations to customers when container stores make mistakes. It's the worst customer service ever! We have bought from several of their competitors (and even hired an Elfa designer from them) and container store el Segundo is by far the worst! read more

Eva is an Ahole!! There is no other word to describe her and her nasty attitude. I came in to return a couple of items and exchange one thing for the same item in a different color. I walk into the store she is changing the trash bag by the door. She says welcome. I said thanks. I walk to the register. It's just me standing there. She walks behind the only open register and says someone else will be here to help you. She's fiddling around and another customer walks up from the side and she rings her up. I say nothing. After she finished she looked at me and said "next" rudely. I simply said "i'd like to return these items and exchange this one". She felt the need to correct me saying you mean "return" talking about the item I asked to exchange. Me: I'd like to exchange it since it was purchased on sale and I want basically the same item. Eva: it's a return (stares me down with a scowl). Me: Are you ok? Eva: "yes, you? It's not an exchange. We process it as a return and you have to repurchase it." Now she has pissed me off. Me: I'm bringing something back and leaving with something similar. I don't need to know the internal process and you clearly understand what I'm asking for. I just want to make sure that it will be price matched. (I start to quickly grab the new item located in the front of the store). Eva: you need to wait here. She proceeds to take her time and return the item and hands me a gift card and just looks at me and says "next". There was no one else in line. I go get my exchange and return. Eva: what was the discount on the item, 20%? Me: It was 30% off. Eva: scowls. You mean 25%? Me: I purchased it this past weekend during the 30% off the entire store sale. Eva: well I can't do that I need to call for a price override. Eva is a jerk and this process did not have to be this draining. While shopping here I was falsely accused of trying to steal something and it was a really shocking, scary, humiliating and traumatizing experience. I was shopping for a bunch of different things and noticed a man following me around through all the different aisles. Then when I was waiting in line to check out with my cart, *four* police officers entered the store, came up and surrounded me, and in the middle of the store in front of everyone who was in line, the cashiers, etc. told me that someone had seen me put something in my bag and this store prosecutes so they needed to check my bag. I proceeded to let them rummage through my bag and then they apologized and quickly left. I have no idea how I could've been perceived as putting anything in my bag at any point while I was in the store. Maybe they thought I looked sketchy because I was wearing leggings and a hoodie?
