    Cute Jizo!

Stumbled upon this cute gift shop while exploring Hermosa and Im so happy I did! Their welcome sign says "come in, we're high" and I knew I was in for a treat lol! Cute stationary, hilarious greeting cards, home decor, jewelry, and so many gift options. We had fun just walking around, browsing, and laughing at the funny things they had. I was actually looking for a buddha statue for either my home or my office and they had some here. We love that. Everything was fairly priced and the staff were friendly too. Definitely check Curious out if you're in the area - I'm already tempted to go back for a few things that caught my eye.

Another stop on my #StationaryStoreDay Crawl. What a gift shop! This place has everything! I love the array of jewelry here... I always say if you are traveling and need a perfect souvenir that says out of town without it being cheesy (and that no one will use) jewelry always is a safe bet. Plenty of sassy and feisty gift items as well but just know that you'll find a children's section, unique culinary items and the service is impeccable! I will say the one consistent thing I realize on my crawl this weekend was that most of these shops offered personal gift wrapping... I am so glad that stores are doing it again. Respectfully Reviewed.

Love visiting this store. It has a lot of quirky items for sale and sells merch for each South Bay city. They will even wrap gifts and stamp initials for you. Loved the pride month display!

I stumbled upon curious when I was in the Hermosa Beach area and starting a new pen pal hobby about 2 months ago! I was looking for a fun stationary shop and found this lovely gem! I had a lovely chat the first time with Andrew, one of the owners. (Saw them again this time around, and they remembered me, so talk about customer service!) I learned that most of their items are curated and locally made! You can see the passion for all things stationary and all things fun, quirky, and queer (hello!!! Sign me up for everything!) I just had to come back and get more! If you're to just window shop, you'll also have a lovely time talking with them and may just be tempted to buy at least one thing!!! I mean, how can you not!?! I got a cute "evil plots" memo pad, some fun stickers, and some beautiful cedar wood penicls! Things are a little pricey, but your shopping small, which is, at the end of the day, worth the price, in my opinion! So stop by, have a chat, buy something funky, or just admire the funness!

When visiting in Hermosa Beach, we went into this awesome little store on Pier Ave! Took photos in their old-school photo booth with our grandkids! And shopped around looking at their very well stocked shop! Bought a darling little soapstone dotted heart for my stone heart collection. Lots of kids gifts, gifts for mom, gifts for dad, housewarming or host gifts too, and a beautiful candle collection including my favorite brand Voluspa. Oh and fun kitchen accessories. When you make it in, take your time browsing as they have something for everyone! And what I appreciated was something for every budget. Friendly shop owner too!

I love this store, and others like it (there's a similar shop in Washington D.C. - not affiliated.) What? A store with high-quality cards, interesting doo-dads, fun odds-n-ends, funny socks and stuff that says "F*ck" etc. You know, the kind of shop you visit every few months and drop ~$30 or so on things you can't live without! Yesterday, it was greeting cards. The visit before it was socks. Next time it will be the Otto Octopus ceramic tray. As far as I can tell, the only thing missing is a bar. Lol... Love CURIOUS! 5 stars!

If you're in hermosa and need a pick me up or just want to buy some good stuff you must make a stop at Curious. Its quite the shop, there is something for everyone! Cards, Candles, games, kitchen towels, stuff for your pets. Again it's a very unique store you need to come in and experience it yourself!

If you are looking for a unique gift idea, this is the place to shop. Even if you are not, this is a great store to pop your head into when in the area and look at all the great home decor, books, jewelry, etc the store has to offer. Even the layout of the store is inviting. There are steps that separate the store into multiple areas to slowly browse and appreciate the way the merchandise is artfully displayed. It makes the shopping experience enjoyable. I observed the same in the expressions of the other shoppers in the store. I did not purchase anything on this visit. I will have to remember to come here the next time I am looking for that unique, eclectic gift for a friend. I liked the different Buddhas they had displayed throughout the store.

Curious is a novelty shop that offers unique and often times spiritually influenced items that are truly interesting. The shop is located right in the heart of downtown Hermosa Beach on Pier Avenue. So, it is easy to get to and parking is abundant via metered street parking and in the nearby lot. Curious it's a spacious shop that is made up of separate rooms. Each room is fully stocked with an eclectic blend of items. What this shop is great for is finding that unique gift item or purchasing that curiosity piece that you never knew that you needed. Curious is a fun place to shop!

I looked in the window and saw bikes, skateboards, clothing, iced tea, and ecofriendly attachments for your Iphone. I looked deeper into the store and observed a very cool shirt which had a multicolored fish next to a multicolored fish surfboard and thought it was worth me coming back when the store was open to check out exactly what this store had to offer. Yesterday (11-23-2012) I found myself again at Javaman and this time 'Wicked' was open. I walked in and observed all of their clothing to be preshrunk organic cotton. I asked the gentleman behind the cash register if they still had the shirt I was looking at several weeks ago, he said they did but the only size left was a medium and I needed a large. I still tried on the shirt in the bathroom / changing room and discovered it to just be a little too small and with a price tag of $39.00 a shirt has got to fit me perfect for me to invest that much coin on a shirt. The cashier said the shirt I wanted was out of stock and they could not order anymore which was a disappointment but quite honestly I am not sure I would have paid $39.00 for a t-shirt even if they had my size. I walked around the store and checked out several other items they had to offer from books on surfing, to ecofriendly shoes & sandals, I did not find anything that I felt the urge to buy. I thanked the cashier for his time and left. This store is located right next to Javaman & a Jiu-Jitsu studio on Pier. The store itself is quite small and too darn close to the beach to be finding any kind of discount. I hope more stores like this pop up here & there but this close to the water you are paying for the overhead to keep the lights on and I have to give this place a pass. I might be back if I am at Javaman and looking to kill time but other than those circumstances chances are this was the first & last time I walk in the door. With saying the above, if you are Xmas shopping for that Ecofriendly person this might be a spot you want to check out they have it all and when I mean it all, I mean IT ALL. I am giving this place 4 Stars instead of 3 because they are a local business that is Ecofriendly, if this review was solely based on the prices it would be 3 stars.

Unfortunately, the checkout experience left me feeling disappointed. A couple prices being adjusted on the spot is understandable, but having tags removed and being quoted significantly higher prices felt uncomfortable and unexpected. The water and breeze of Redondo Beach Pier is blue medicine. The reason why I describe the pier as…read moresuch is because the tension and stagnant spirit of a person can be lessened (maybe not fully evaporated) by the picturesque ocean nestled below. As we all know, there is a a saying that asks people to stop and smell the flowers. Meaning that each person should stop their steps intentionally to understand the fragrant beauty of a still and small moment, Otherwise we all might lose the meaning of life as we zoom/Zoom. But at the Pier there are no flowers, there are only blue-green waves rolling in a leisurely motion. And I stopped to record the calming waters as they strolled, and in that moment I felt a morsel of serenity for I was one with the elements that constitute a beachside. Of course, not all people go to the Pier for calmness, some people go for boardwalk buzz. And this place has almost that is needed to have a wonderful day. Now this place is not like the Santa Monica Pier, or the Jersey Pier, or the Santa Cruz boardwalk because it does not have rides and bells and whistles. It is mostly a place to stroll and enjoy food, drinks, sights, and churros and crabs. Like when night descends upon the pier it blankets it, there is no human made lights to shoo the darkness away. But that does not make les than the other famous piers just different. And also, during my last visit I saw a bird flying and floating across the water helping me understand the spectacle of nature's freedom in flight. I am sure I could have captured and understood this message in this and other piers because al of them have birds and stretches of ocean that seem to reach a point of both entrance and end. Yesterday,I went to the Pier because they have a free concert series during the summers. People had their chairs out, and towels and enjoyed the Irish melodies. They were not traditional Celtic songs that make people jig and want to wear leprechaun hats, it was modern Irish which was new to me. I also chastised myself for not being the type of person who comes prepared with snacks and chairs to enjoy, not only the musical performance, but the beach elements all around. I do wonder if I had the needed snacks and chairs, will I hate having to walk them from my car to the spot. And then I would likely chastised myself for not being the type of person who can just enjoy the music of band and sea. This pier has a lot to do, for sure. It may not be a tourist destination but it can be. But for now it is regarded as a local treasure by locals. It's parking is like 2 dollars an hour. Buf if you are willing to walk a few blocks, like two, it can be free. But that depends what kind of things you will carry to enjoy your time at the pier and nearby beach.
