This Home Goods store is located in El Segundo near Whole Foods. I was looking for some throw pillows for the new year and found a large selection organized by color. There were a number of Ugg pillows in neutral colors. I brought a picture of my sofa with me to refresh my memory while shopping. One of the salespersons on the floor gave me his opinion on which colors to buy after showing him my picture. I ended up getting 2 to compare when I got home. With Halloween in the rear view, it's about that time of year to see who has great Christmas product, especially at reasonable prices in light of this economy. Don't know about the rest of you, but I have to watch it and keep things on a reasonable budget. And so this review will center on Home Goods' affordable Christmas product and or the lack thereof. Immediately upon entering this Home Goods in this expensive and upscale area, you are blown away by the sheer diversity here. When I tell you that every single ethnicity is represented in terms of those who work here as well as the shopping clientele or patrons themselves it comes as no overstatement. Suffice to say the word is out amongst everyone wide and far that this particular location has ample product-holiday stuff being key among that for the current season we are entering. Once inside, you have to love the fact that every other few minutes someone gets on the PA system and commends a shopper on making a contribution to various food banks. In light of the fact that over 40 million Americans lost their snap benefits, every little bit helps. What many don't realize is the rippling effect the lack of SNAP benefits has not only on the food recipients themselves, but also on the grocery stores you frequent. They too are now not getting anything. A voice comes over the PA system and says something to the effect of "shout out to such and such who just donated to such and such a food bank". They then end the announcement with a funny little "whooo hooo" howl. Lol Now on to the product itself. There are tons and tons of Christmas and holiday items, so much so that even the pictures may not do them justice. In any case, I'll let you all decide on what products you would get, but I know I'll certainly be back. Now let's talk people, and the sheer amount of them. You'll definitely want to avoid this joint during weekends if you're at all claustro or human phobic-lol. I myself love the crowds, particularly around this time of year. But then again I came up that way. But if you like going solo, are in a rush, or just don't want to be tapped or accidentally brushed upon in any way shape or form, your best off coming early in the week. Within the 30 to 45 minutes I was in the store, I must have been bumped either on my person or on my basket at least four or five times. But as stated before, I'm all good with the crowds and human interaction, even though I'm giving serious consideration to consider dating an android that looks like C-3PO with a wig, but more on that later.... So I ended up having to take a call from family that took me out and away from this store, but I'll certainly be back soon to take advantage of some of the great discounts. All in all this was a very informative and worthwhile experience. I had never been in a Home Goods store prior to today. read more

I live in Manhattan Beach, and this store is very close to me, so I shop here often. My husband even jokes that I'm single-handedly keeping the store open. Today is May 20 and the terrible interaction was at 8pm Recently, while shopping for items to stage my house, I accidentally purchased the wrong comforter size because I was rushing and didn't notice the mistake at checkout. When I returned to exchange it, I realized the correct size was not available at the store , so I requested a refund instead. The cashier was able to locate my receipt using my phone number, but then the manager came over and refused the return. She claimed the comforter was stained and that the packaging was damaged, saying she would never sell an item in that condition. I explained that this was exactly how I purchased it. I had been working all day and was rushing to gather staging supplies, so I honestly didn't inspect every detail of the packaging before leaving the store. It's also possible a small mark occurred while transporting it in my car, especially since the store no longer provides large bags and the paper bag I purchased did not properly fit the comforter. The comforter itself was not damaged, and I was only returning it because it was the wrong size. What upset me most was the way I was treated. Instead of listening and trying to understand the situation, the manager made me feel judged and dismissed. I truly felt uncomfortable and unfairly judged based on my appearance that day. As a loyal customer, this experience was especially disappointing and hurtful. I hope that in the future they take a moment to consider the full situation before making assumptions about their customers. I would hate for someone else to have a similar experience. read more

This has to be the best HomeGoods out there. While it can be tricky to navigate as the aisles are very small and the carts are too big for the store, that is made up for by the quality and breadth of items they sell here. Really, anything you can think of wanting for your home, they will have, at very discounted prices and with a large selection. Be careful though: you will end up walking out with things you didn't know that you wanted or needed. read more

Customer Services Needs Improvement I come here almost every week. And for the most part no issues. However, I was there yesterday evening and cashier#:1121 was helping me check out. I placed all my items on the counter. I turned around and saw those big bags from the store that cost 99 cents. So i grabbed 2 and placed them on the counter along with the rest of the items I'm buying. The cashier said... "I'm not a mind reader, are you buying those" Completely rude and unprofessional. I looked at her with shock because I couldn't believe she said that. Is it NOT obvious that I'm buying them since i placed them on the counter along with the rest if the items I was buying. We like the store because it has beautiful selection of a very interesting items, but we had a very bad experience with the sales person and the manager. I bought several honey bottles and a lot of other things from glass and I asked her to double bag and then I went somewhere else to look at something and everything was packed., so I didn't see what was happening .when we came home and carried the packages through the yard and into the living room. The bottles fell out, and they broke with the honey all over the house on the floor, which was a terrible disaster almost impossible to clean up also in the yard the bottle broke, and there were millions of bees there.when we called the manager by the name of Fabiola,she said that it's all our own fault because we didn't ask to double bag which is not true. Also, these items should've have been wrapped separately in paper.so much damage has been done and they do not want to even hear about it. She actually was very rude on the phone. Maybe the ownership could do something about this because this is absolutely not acceptable .this case is good enough to go to court because it's destroying our house. No one who I encountered at this location was kind. I asked about locating a cheese knife. One said they didn't sell it. One said it was in the bar section. I couldn't locate that area and she just said it's up front and didn't bother showing me because I obviously wasn't able to locate it. This 5 star review is for Sydnee only! If I can give the process of returns a rating, it would be a two and if I could give the manager on duty, who could not do what Sydnee did, I would give her a one. There HAS to be a better way to exchange merchandise. I had been running around with about $20 worth of stuff to return or exchange at Home Goods. I was at manhattan beach and on Sepulveda. There's a home goods. I stopped to return 3 items. Melinda from the Home Goods I stopped at (El Segundo) was having a difficult time reading the numbers on my receipt. She was unable to exchange. She could not read the numbers on the receipt, and I had switched purses the night before, and left my ID at home in the other purse. Because Melinda was unable to identify the numbers on the receipt. We were not able to put into the computer so that she could see that I actually bought it. I understand that but I also understand that I've been carrying these things around for about three months. No I was frustrated. Because if I have a receipt that shows the items they should be able to override the fact that the numbers aren't there or that I don't have an ID I had two items that were 5.99 and one item that was 4.99. Seriously it was $20 worth of things anything under $25 should not be questioned in all honesty. Especially when I had the receipt so there needs to be some sort of way to hit no receipt items under $25 button. But there isn't one. I was buying other merchandise! Like I wasn't asking for cash bag or store credit I was exchanging! Sydnee asked to see my receipt because Melinda was increasingly frustrated and did not know how to handle my request. Sydnee has only been at Home Goods for three weeks and was working with me. I took my iPhone and put the flashlight on and we were able to figure it out! Now that's what I called being part of the solution. I embrace problem solvers. Sydnee is killing it! People at corporate... do you hear me? Anybody as proactive as sharp and as willing to jump in and try to help as Sydnee needs to be promoted! Fast track her to Management ASAP. If it were not for her, it wouldn't have gotten done kudos to you Sydnee! Thank you so much for being a BOSS!!! How is it that a manager on duty couldn't take the time to do that? I'm sorry Melinda...I feel that there's a lot more that you could've done rather than to tell me you couldn't do it. I love browsing the aisles--whether I'm looking for unique decor, quality kitchenware, or just a cozy throw blanket, I always end up finding something great (and usually a few extras I didn't plan on). The store is generally well-organized, and prices are super reasonable for the quality. Only reason I'm holding back half a star is because restocking can be hit or miss depending on the day, but that's part of the fun! Bedding, kitchen, bathroom, outdoor and bar selections all in one store. I found great prices on these items. The associates were welcoming and really helpful to speak with. The line was not long and the cashiers are efficient at ringing up your purchase. Plenty of free parking with wheelchair access. read more

This is my fave HG! What attracts me so much you might ask? How about easy peasy parking, a good sized store jam packed with ever changing stock, excellent customer service, quality goods and great prices. The home of impulse buying! (Plus the carts work all the way to your car unlike other HG stores in the area). But the piece de resistance is the Wholefoods next door that has a bar...yay. A shop with everything including the kitchen sink next door to a health food store for a drink...genius!! I'm often found having a cocktail in the bar smiling as smugly as Smaug with my HG treasure in bags around me. Best thing is you are drinking in a health store so it doesn't count, and you are spending the money you just saved in HG so that cocktail doesn't count either ;) So, if you need an excuse to hot foot it over to this temple of retail just remember it sells everything you need, and everything you don't, but want. Ridiculous savings on everything from a lamp to bath bombs, office chairs to dog swim vests, luxury bedding to plastic flowers, truffle oil to plastic dinosaurs. They need help, as in they need helpers. There were two cashiers for about 15 people in line. A couple of people in front of us were returning a few items and it took forever. We were 5th in line when we joined it, another 10 parties were soon behind us. It took 15 minutes for us to get to a cashier. They have a nice store, good selection and some deals if you have the patience to walk around and find them. But, if you time it wrong, you are going to be waiting for a long time to pay for those bargains and get them home to enjoy them. I had the worst experience ever at this HomeGoods. I went to register one, and usually, associates have name tags, but this rude woman did not. I said hi, and she was already guarded and rude. The moment I mentioned I had a return, you could see in her face that she was upset. I had bought some decor items two days ago and was returning what didn't match my home. I gave her the receipts, but she claimed they weren't for some of the items. I told her to just return what she could, and I'd come back with the correct receipts later. Her attitude was horrible, as if she didn't like her job at all. I checked the receipts and saw that they matched the items exactly. When I pointed this out, she became furious, looking at me like I had committed a crime. She didn't know how to do her job and blamed me for it. Thankfully, her manager, Diana, came over, checked the receipts, and confirmed they were correct. The rude associate then started telling me not to talk to her like that and refused to help me. She threw the receipts on the counter and stormed off. It was the rudest encounter I have ever experienced. Diana was very nice and handled the situation with care and patience, which helped me calm down. However, she wouldn't give me the associate's name, which I respected as she was protecting her employee despite her rudeness. Nevertheless, the behavior of that worker was unacceptable. This was my last visit to the HomeGoods on Sepulveda. Done with this place. read more

Like myself, people come here to scout good deals for Christmas gifts and holiday decorations for the homes. There are many good selections of gift baskets for gift givings. I bought a few gourmet baskets as gifts for our friends. I also found some great china wares for servicing our holiday dinner. For the holiday decorations, they have tons of holiday theme pillows for the sofas and Christmas decoration stuffs for the home to add extra holiday cheers. I also found great deals on unique Italian pasta and European exotic chocolates. Those are good for either gift givings or keep for yourself indulge in gourmet foods. My 13yo daughter and I were shopping in this store when she called my attention to a floral print water bottle. She didn't need another water bottle, but she said "it's only 9.99" and that she was gonna pay for it. I looked at the tag that said $19.99, but she took me to the shelf where she got it from. There was a bunch of the same water bottle, different colors/designs, on the shelf and behind it was a sign that said something like "Wow what a price" and in big print "9.99". When we took it to the cashier they rang it up for 19.99, and I told them about the sign on the shelf. The cashier insisted the price tag is the true price. I asked her to find a manager because that was not advertised accurately. She said the manager would still tell us the price on the tag was correct. My poor daughter went ahead and paid for the water bottle, while I went to show another worker the sign on the shelf. She told me the sign was for the items on the shelves below, not for the water bottles on top-- where the sign was! That was clearly false advertising, to which she apologized and said she'll mention to management about the sign. Great, thanks. My 13yo paid double of what she expected to pay. No bueno, not cool. This store is a large location with a lot of stuff. You name it: trinkets, furniture, dishes, lights, mirrors, pet supplies, towels, and the list goes on. This store is well organized and well lighted so finding that item you never knew that you wanted is easy to do. :-) This HomeGoods is located in a large outdoor shopping facility. The low(ish) prices are not worth the terrible customer service. If it was a single employee, it wouldn't be a huge deal, but 5? 2 employees gossiping about a customer while restocking...yep, I totally listened in. 3 at the register that were less than enthused to have a job. Our cashier was just salty as heck for no reason. She was rude to the woman before us, so we approached with caution and said hello to her, but she just grunted in return and apparently forgot her mouth was covered and NOT HER ROLLING EYES. I was shopping there the other day and upon my departure , I left my wallet in the shopping cart. I got 20-30 min away before I noticed it missing. I rushed back to home goods , looked through every cart in the parking lot and couldn't find it. I rushed over to Home Goods and asked a very nice gentleman that works there named Mark Campbell had he seen it. He had!!! He took it inside and had it put up at the front in a drawer. I can't explain how kind and honest that was of him . You don't see it much now, but I'm grateful to Mark and to Home Goods for the safe keep and return of my wallet. We came by to get an area rug for our living room. Mama had passed by Cost Plus World Market (in SM) but, was told to check out Home Goods before buying. MAN! Did we ever score here. The prices and selection were AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! Lots of different patterns, colors, shapes and sizes. Granted some of the racks were empty, the options were still abundant. Oh, and the prices... we ended up going to Cost Plus (next door) to get a runner anyway and I saw how much the area rugs there were. Home Goods was at least, 75% off of Cost Plus! It's a steal I tell ya. I've been to one other Home Goods and thus far have not been disapointed by their products or prices. We'll definitely be back. read more
