This is probably one of my favorite coffee shops in Phoenix. The inside of the shop is contemporary but has a speakeasy type of feel. They also have an outdoor patio. There's tons of gluten free options. I got the matcha latte with almond milk and a gluten free waffle. Everything was so good. I love their presentation. The service was quick and courteous. I love their attention to details. Definitely be back when I'm closer to downtown.
I got the Purple Bee and it was pretty decent. The coffee was smooth and I would definitely come back to try the infamous Bourbon Vanilla latte. The cashier was super helpful and pointed me in the right direction of what to get. The cafe is cozy and very aesthetic. I would definitely come back to work and enjoy their coffee.
Wow was a cute find! Nestled back in an industrial area, I was surprised to walk into such a fashionable, warm, welcoming coffee shop! I heard they go all out on themes (like Star Wars). After much discussion with the wonderfully helpful barista, I settled on the ceremonial iced matcha with a shot of rose, and the fruit bowl which is quite big! Cute patio with misters, or luxurious indoor velvet seats with speakeasy vibes. Definitely an unexpected find.
I didn't know what I was getting myself into before I walked into this place, but I'm glad I did. Someone really loves Star Wars. They had Lego Star Wars on tv. They had yoda balls. They had a full sci-fi menu. But they also had very nice people working, tasty food and a nice hot latte. That's exactly what I needed after a morning flight. I'd definitely go back the next time I fly into the Phoenix airport!
This week, I stopped in for a Yelp event and was blown away at the beautiful decor, drinks, food, and friendly staff. Star Wars + Coffee = a match made in heaven, or should I say space? My boyfriend is a Star Wars fan as well, so I had to go back a few days later to show him this amazing place when we were nearby at the Phoenix Zoo. That experience was also great, so I'll likely need to do an outing to take my Star Wars loving bestie out as she was mesmerized just by the pictures I shared with her. What We Ordered: - High Ground (Galactic Menu available until 5/31/2026) - espresso, milk, vanilla, toasted marshmallow, dark chocolate cold foam: so delicious that I returned days after a Yelp event to have this iced again! - Yoda Deviled Eggs (available until 5/31/2026): another repeat for me this week as I enjoyed it so much earlier this week! - Prime Rib Sliders: something new to try and we split. I really love spicy red pepper aioli as it added a nice heat to the slider, and some moisture as the prime rib was a bit tough. Not sure we'd order again due to that toughness, but the aioli was so delicious I'd see if it was on any other dish to order that to try next time. Yes, next time as I'm certain I'll return! Be sure to stop by before May 31st, 2026 to see the Star Wars theming! They even have a POD RACER! How cool. May the force be with you & SYOY!
If you're moving too fast, you may just drive past this place. It looks inconspicuous from the outside, but when you get inside, it's beautiful. They have abundance of food and drink choices. Staff embodies the true definition of "service with a smile." I got a matcha lemonade. That was delicious and I will definitely try this place again.
The Coffee Builders feels like one of downtown Phoenix's best hidden finds -- a tucked-away oasis on South 7th Street that shares its space and creative spirit with the adjacent wood and cement design/build studios. You can feel that maker energy immediately. We were impressed from the moment we parked. The coffee cup-shaped bike racks instantly caught my eye, especially as someone who bikes around downtown, and the parking lot features an incredible oversized art piece that looks like a futuristic space sled being pulled by two yellow rockets. Before you even walk in, the place already feels imaginative and special. Inside, the experience only gets better. Much of the interior and the spacious covered patio, with its many tables, were crafted by the owner, and it shows. From the ordering experience to the cozy, organic atmosphere, everything feels thoughtful and top-notch. The warm wood tones, intricate ceiling details, and inviting communal feel make it the kind of place that naturally encourages conversation. We ended up chatting with several other guests, along with a number of staff members, all of whom were genuinely welcoming and happy to share stories about the space, its history, the owner, and the neighborhood. The current rotating theme was Star Trek, which somehow even included Yoda-shaped deviled eggs -- quirky, memorable, and very much in the spirit of the place. We tried the lavash, pastries, a cappuccino, and a latte, and both the presentation and taste were excellent. Coffee Builders isn't just a coffee stop -- it feels like a community hub, an art space, and a warm neighborhood gathering place all at once. We were so impressed that we're already planning return visits, this time with friends and visitors in tow.
This hits the trifecta! The ambience is just stunning. It feels like you walked into an East Coast College library meets West Coast cocktail lounge but instead you're able to visit bright and early and get your caffeine fix! Customer service is outstanding. They are patient barista's speaking in Starbucks terms for those new to visiting small chain coffee shops, but really are sure to tell you what they think might be best in a gentle way.! love the guidance! Beautiful silverware and bar wear utilized to present even more exquisite drinks! We will be back
A fellow Yelp reviewer suggested this spot for a downtown meeting, when I asked her about recommendations for places that had parking and a cool vibe. Coffee Builders checks all the boxes. Great, central location. Cool vibe, local ownership and great food and drinks. Note: I don't drink coffee, and they accommodated me by making something "off-menu." The breakfast quiche was great as was my blueberry refresher, a hybrid from their blueberry rose matcha.
This morning I had the pleasure of starting my Monday with a vanilla bourbon latte from Coffee Builders, and it was such a fun surprise. Pulling into the parking lot, I'll admit I was a little skeptical with the piles of wood from the neighboring lumber business, but the second you walk inside, it feels like stepping into a cozy speakeasy. Low lighting, velvet chairs, and such a charming atmosphere:) The only thing that didn't quite match the moody vibe, in the best way, was Tina, my barista. She was so friendly and energetic, and encouraged me to switch it up from my usual vanilla latte. I'm glad I listened! The drink was delicious, but the presentation really stole the show. The little flower on top was such a sweet touch. It wasn't overly sugary, definitely more of a true coffee drink with just the right hint of sweetness, which I loved. I'd absolutely come back and stay awhile. It feels like the perfect spot to sit quietly, sip something warm, and get lost in an audiobook for a bit.
You should go once for the ambiance and experience, but the food and drinks aren't that great. Based on what we had, the focus seems to be more on presentation than taste. First off, the space is amazing! Its upscale cocktail lounge meets coffee bar: blue leather banquettes, velour chairs, rich wood paneling and accent lights. I felt like I should be drinking a martini, not a cortado. The food, on the hand, is meh. The Yoda-themed deviled eggs were cute, but they are in the bottom half of deviled eggs I've eaten (and I'm a huge fan). Putting microgreens on a ham and cheese panini doesn't make it taste better, nor does putting a flower on top of a cortado or putting so-so orange juice in a nice glass. Service was great. Still, the food and drink could be more on point.
This place never ceases to impress me. I feel immediately like I've walked into a fairytale coffee shop. The beautiful woodwork and "speak easy" vibe with food and beverages that are as artsy as they are tasty. The staff is always helpful with suggestions and have never failed to give me good advice. Recently I tried their bourbon cold brew and I think it might be my new addiction. If ever in Phoenix no matter where you are staying it's worth the drive.
As an esteemed coffee geek this is one of the best coffee shops I've ever been to. Got the bourbon barrel aged nitro with vanilla cream and infused with smoked white oak (see pics). The food was excellent too and staff was friendly and a nice and laid back environment, quiet enough to get work done. A must visit

Can't go wrong with anything here. My third time here- coffee is excellent, whatever you get. First time getting food and the Smörrebrod and the waffle were A+. The smoked salmon w cream cheese, greens and caviar: YES, the bread it's on makes me miss German bread. Everything you'll get looks super pretty too. A must visit - such a cool coffee shop!! The outside of the building is so deceiving, I was pleasantly surprised when I walked inside. The decor is phenomenal; straight out of a top interior design magazine. The velvet, wood and greenery combo is perfect. I want their custom ceiling in my house! The coffee shop is bite-sized, but has a good bit of seating. It's remote work friendly with outlets everywhere. The menu did not disappoint. Loads of fun coffee drinks with unique flavors -- pistachio, bourbon, lavender, ube, just to name a few. The best part is that the drinks are gorgeous. Their presentation is amazing. I had the white chocolate pistachio latte, absolutely delicious. Creamy good flavor without being over powering. They also have a food menu. Someone next to me had the açaí bowl and it looked delish. I grabbed a cinnamon apple crisp pastry - so yummy! It was very busy the entire time I was there from 7-10am on a Wednesday. I noticed it was very popular for work meetings. This place is a gem! We stopped in after flying into Phoenix airport and picking up our rental car, and we were thrilled to find this place only like 7 minutes away, before driving up to Sedona. It has a decent size parking lot in an interesting industrial spot where there's wood and a building company. The café itself is very cool and cute. It has a large plant wall with greenery and it's giving wood chalet or cabin vibes inside. Plenty of tables and a big round booth to sit at. There are also tables for outdoor seating. We ordered: 1. Dirty chai (with added shot of espresso) with oat milk - Delicious! 5-stars! 2. Truffle latte (off the "luxury" section of the drink menu). It has dark chocolate and black summer truffles (the mushroom). Incredibly delicious, and kind of savory. For people who love truffles, I highly recommend this one! Very unique. 5-stars 3. Nitro cold brew (Black 16-oz). Smooth and delicious. 4. Deviled eggs with caviar. (We were feeling luxurious.) YUM! You can also order them without caviar or with bacon. 5. Blue crab and caviar bröd or börd. (Open-face dense toast like they serve in Denmark). It also had micro greens and little cherry tomatoes. It was so so delicious! 5-stars! Coffee Builders was a fun experience! I visited Coffee Builders with my mom during the middle of the day on the weekday. There was no line to order when we arrived and ample parking available. When we arrived Coffee Builders was decorated with LEGO's! There were LEGO's available to play with, LEGO decor everywhere, & a LEGO movie playing on the TV. Super cute coffee shop with a pop up lego theme! It was super busy on a Saturday morning (line out the door) but definitely worth the wait. We tried the chocolate pistachio and strawberry fields. Both were delicious! This was such a perfect spot to sit and catch up while enjoying tasty drinks. We'll have to try the food next time! read more
The wait was super long. Was an hour from the line to order to pick up for just a coffee. I get they have an event starting but the set up isn't conducive to handle that. Hmmm... where do I begin.... The decor, adorable! The service, top tier! The location, a bit interesting to me. Then it makes sense when you realize the Porter Barn Wood next to it and that they're tied. It was extremely busy Saturday morning but I'm pretty sure it's because most of us were there for the Yelp Elite Week. The drinks were yummy and did not take the coffee taste away, which I like, the espresso had me jumping off the walls Saturday all day. I want to go back when it's not so busy because it is a pretty small place, although there is sitting outside, it's too hot right now. It will be nice when we have colder weather to sit out there. Thoughtful, handcrafted drinks with fresh ingredients. Phoenix coffee is a competitive space, but this is a solid option. Had the strawberry fields and the abuelita coco. Strawberry fields is great, and the abuelita coco is nice but I found mine a little bit too spicy for my own taste. All the workers here are super nice too! I have been to The Coffee Builders twice now, and I have had an outstanding experience each time. It is one of my top five coffee shops in Arizona, and for good reason. I have had their regular cold brew and their regular hot coffee straight up black. What I like about them is their bold taste and how easy their coffee is on my insides. I can tell that they have brewed their coffee beans to perfection without any preservatives. While their coffee is incredible, the best part is the service. Every staff member is so friendly and fun to talk to. Whenever they are not busy, I enjoy having pleasant conversations with them. You can tell that they care about making everyone feel welcome and having a great experience in their shop. I did not meet the owner, Thomas, the first time I visited, but today he was there, and I would like to give him a shoutout for making The Coffee Builders possible. He appreciated the support and, like the other staff members, made me feel right at home. I like the atmosphere as well. The pleasant atmosphere makes it a great place to relax and enjoy your coffee. A perfect little coffee shop in Phoenix to grab a fantastic cup of coffee to start your day. Omg!!! We were on our last day of vacation from Vegas, in town for the Innings Festival and Spring Training Baseball. I googled "cute coffee spots near me," and this had amazing ratings. Situated next to Porter Barn Wood (Same Owner) this is an adorable little hub of community. My húsband got an Orange Blossom Latte and I had to try the "Fire and Ice Kentucky Bourbon" Latte. Amazing presentation by Oliver who obviously takes pride in his work. He smoked my coffee! And sweet Mara came up and let us know that the themes change here! Right now it "Princess Bride," and she told me that next is STAR WARS! Wow! We've been contemplating if we'd love here and this spot makes me smile even more! One of the most unique and beautiful coffee shops that I have ever been to! The ambience is stunning! This is a perfect place to do work as they have free WiFi. The staff is so friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They are also all masters at making delicious drinks! I ordered an off menu iced matcha drink that the cashier recommended. I don't remember the name, but it had blueberry, honey, matcha, and rose cold foam. It was delicious and honestly a work of art. It was expensive, but I didn't even mind because it was so good and the service was exceptional. The menu items are all very fairly priced, while the specialty drinks are more expensive. The Coffee Builders is such a fantastic coffee shop, and it's easy to see why they've landed the number one spot on Yelp's Top Places to Drink in Phoenix! I had been wanting to check out TCB since they first opened, and I finally got the chance a little over a year later, in October. The place is absolutely gorgeous and not your typical coffee shop. Every part of the building was designed by them to highlight their team's creativity and to create a wonderful space for people to gather and enjoy a meal and/or a cup of coffee. I met up with two of my colleagues for coffee, snacks, and some co-working. I ordered the following: Carpenter bee latte Chocolate pistachio Deviled eggs The drinks were excellent, perfectly balanced, and had just the right amount of sweetness for my taste. You can tell they put a lot of thought into everything they craft. The deviled eggs with caviar were absolutely delicious, and each order came with two eggs. From the food and drinks to the service and atmosphere, everything was top-notch. They truly deserve their spot on Yelp's Top Places to Drink! read more

From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was something special. The ambiance is unmatched! The music was perfectly curated, the decor was stylish and thoughtfully done, and the seating was incredibly cozy. The shop was beautiful. It's the kind of place that makes you want to stay a while, and we did! The staff was so kind and helpful, which made the experience even better. And let's talk about the drinks...absolutely stunning and even more delicious. You can truly tell that a lot of thought and care goes into crafting each one. Every sip was perfection. I spent a few hours working here and found it super easy to focus and stay comfortable the entire time. The patio is also adorable, a great spot to relax or catch up with friends and it's Pet friendly . While the space was a bit smaller than I expected and it got pretty busy around noon, it wasn't an issue during the time I arrived. My only real wish is that there were a few more outlets available for laptop users. That said, this was hands down the best overall coffee shop experience I've ever had and I've been to quite a few! Whelp the lines are back to normal not a galactic pilgrimage to order. Even then it was worth the wait as this team just crushed one of the coolest themed events I've been able to enjoy. Good news is that just the regular degular menu and order experience is always the best. Come enjoy the hyperspace jump in a shorter line and always carefully crafted drinks with rotating new stuff all the time themed and unthemed. We were fortunate enough to be there for one of the truest to grace this space in Avden! Gonna miss that energy and wonderful smile. I died and went to coffee-drink heaven. I don't normally visit coffee shops, nor do I care for intricate or complicated coffee drinks. I have a fancy espresso machine at home - where I make my own almond milk for my almond milk lattes. But this... THIS... I'd leave my espresso machine for. The Coffee Builders is best known for their incredibly unique and inventive coffee drinks; I've never experienced a coffee bar like this. I went to The Coffee Builders with some colleague-friends, and we each had two drinks... we just couldn't stop at one. I started with one of their specialty drinks, the "Strawberry Fields," which was strawberry, pistacchio, espresso, and subbed for soy milk. The second drink I had was from their fall menu, the "Carpenter Bee," an Arizona honey chile latte. The presentation was next level... Am I at the Ritz Carlton, y'all? There's another coffee drink made with blueberries - BLUEBERRIES. Aside from the great coffees, is the beautiful decor. Love it when a coffee shop pics a theme - be it rustic, boho, modern, MCM, etc - and really goes all in. The decor and woodwork (handcrafted by the owner) is next level. Go there and experience it for yourself. But know they close at 2pm. read more
This place is soooo cool! Gives me Denver vibes with the wood walls and shaped ceiling (I know, not a good description, but it's a fun ceiling). It's an elevated interior which is a nice surprise to the simple white exterior. The velvet chairs are super comfortable and I could stay here all day. It's a tad darker in here so if you need a lot of light, head outside! I got the strawberry fields with oat milk. I usually go for the caramel or vanilla drinks, not fruity, but I just love this drink so much. And it's so pretty with the topping and the fancy glass it comes in makes the experience all the better. I definitely feel the caffeine! You can get any of their espressos as matchas. They have so many cool sounding syrups as well, so hard to choose. Will be back. Employees are very kind and quick service! read more
SO glad I found Coffee Builders! I've been aware of Porter Barn wood, but didn't know their owner opened a coffee shop next door! What a brilliant idea, to showcase some of their woodwork while creating a fun, relaxing space. It can get busy here and indoor seating is limited, but they have a large tree lined patio as well. Baristas are knowledgeable, very friendly and enthusiastic! Many of their seasonal and specialty drinks are just so pretty. Occasionally, there is a table side show to accompany the presentation of your drink (see photos/videos). This happened during my recent visit with hubby. Their pumpkin spice latte is served with crushed cinnamon sticks in a white oak smoker that is torched table side. Just a fun experience! Cappuccino is on point as well. Deviled eggs, sandwiches and salads are all delicious. Can't wait to go back to try more of their menu! read more

Total gem of a coffee shop in an area that needs some cool retail spots. Near my work there are very few options for coffee... food... really anything in general. So to find a cute coffee shop within a 10min drive is a steal! The shop is part of a mini compound for the custom Porter Barn Wood company. You can see from taking one step inside that the initial intent was to be a showroom for their beautiful woodwork. The ceiling is absolutely breath-taking. They've set it up as a nice co-working cafe inside and outside. Parking is a little weird but there's plenty of it. They have a lot of cool, unique drink options during breakfast and lunch hours. My first visit was just to get a midday caffeine boost and check them out. The speciality drinks are a little pricey and I didn't get a chance to look over the food menu. The barista/cashier was super nice and showed me around the menu. They were out of iced drip coffee for the day so I went with the Abuelita Coco, dairy-free (slight up-charge for that)... about $8. Definitely can see myself coming back to check them out again for more coffee (hopefully can get a plain iced coffee) and maybe a snack or breakfast! read more

Such a great quaint coffee shop. I liked the avocado toast (forgot their specific name for it) loved that it had microgreens and radishes. The chai did not taste artificial which I appreciate, was warm and sweet but not overwhelmingly. You go for the drinks but stay for the atmosphere. Such a great place to sit and do work, not too loud, everyone is doing their own thing and the workers are great! One star off because I am not a fan of flowers on my food or drinks. Also be prepared to eat the toast with a fork and knife because the bread is a bit thick read more

Excellent coffee and service. I had the Cabernet Latte ($20) and the Prime, Pimento, and Blue cheese sandwich ($18). The prime rib had way too much fat, you can see it in the photo. The inside is gorgeous! Such beautiful wood work. It is in the same plaza as Porter Barn Wood, they made it with the intention of the coffee shop being a functional showroom. You can park anywhere in this plaza. I came at 11 on a Friday and they were packed with work meetings, I even saw ASU employees, and Phoenix Fire, which is neat. The Coffee Builders exceeded any expectations I may have had! From all the amazing photos I saw on their Yelp and socials, I knew it was going to be great, but the full experience and concept it truly special. Though I was unsure what to expect from a parking perspective, being so close to downtown, I was pleasantly surprised to see they had their own lot, as its connected to some of their additional concepts. Though there is a gate they shut after closing, so make sure to keep that in mind, as its not a spot you should leave your car. The coffee shop is in an unassuming white building, but once you walk in the space is absolutely beautiful, with custom woodworking from floor to ceiling. The space is truly special and really showcases the skill and craftsmanship from their other concept. The staff was equally impressive and so friendly upon arrival. They have a rotating seasonal menu featuring their specialty beverages, classics beverages, seasonal offerings and food offerings. Their menu is sort of tough to read, as it has a great scenic background, but you can also pull it up online. It was hard to decide what to get, but the team was great with helping we work through the menu, offer recommendations and answer my questions. I was initially concerned with how sweet some of the combinations would be, as I usually keep it very herbaceous or simple, but they assured me they work on a balanced, but flavorful approach. Which I was happy to hear! Their collection of speciality beverages are lovely, one of their most popular ones and one I have tried was, The Slopes, featuring blueberry, white chocolate, butterfly pea flower and espresso. Its presentation was not only insance, but the flavor was absolutely lovely. The foam top. jsut right amount of sweetness, it was delicious. We also tried a spin on an irish cream style latte, I believe it was another rec. from the team member, as I do not see it on the menu, but it did not disappoint! We also got some food offering, including BBQ flatbread, bacon wrapped dates, deviled eggs and matcha waffles. Everything we had was delicious and came out promptly and of course with great presentation. I have yet to have something I have not enjoyed and do wish they were closer so I could work my way through the menu quicker, hah! That being said, I find all their beverages to be extremely reasonable in price, especially for the quality, The food is pretty on par price point, but for the quality a great value. The inside space is intimate, so I could see it being tough to get a seat, but they have a huge patio for those cooler fall, winter and spring months! Would be a lovely spot for a date, getting some work done or to meet a few friends. They seem to have a great line up of events through out the year, so definitely check those out, but If this place is on your list, run, don't walk! read more
I've never seen a coffee shop with a 4.9/5 rating on Yelp, so I had to check out The Coffee Builders--and yes, it lives up to the hype! The coffee is absolutely top-tier, and the vibe is warm, modern, and thoughtfully designed. You can tell they care about quality in every detail, from the drinks to the service. The staff is kind, welcoming, and passionate about what they do. Coffee is served beautifully with beautiful flowers!! This place is a standout in Phoenix and officially one of my new favorites. read more
