This place is INCREDIBLE! As a coffee shop alone, the staff is friendly, the food was delicious, and the coffee was amazing! It's far from home for me but I would make the trek just for the coffee and the people. BUT one of the coolest things about this place is definitely the themes - they do a variety of different themes throughout the year and they go all out! When we were there it was decked out for a Harry Potter inspired Christmas, and it's so much more than just the themed drinks. The interior of the cafe is small but cozy and comfortable, and they had "moving portraits" and potion ingredients and books and games all on theme; they even had a flying car out front! Then the drinks and the food - so many fun things! They had gluten free donuts and waffles, which were so good - the donuts were some of the best textured gf donuts I've had, still cake style but lighter and fluffier than most! The gf Ube waffles were also delicious! But honestly the drinks were the star of the show - while we were waiting in line, we were offered tiny mugs of butterbeer samples, and they were so good! Sweet and creamy but not overpowering and not too sugary - delightful! Every drink had a specific glass it was served in to incorporate the theme even more - for example, the gamekeeper was appropriately enormous, fit for the gamekeeper himself I got the Goblet, with house made bacon syrup and maple, served in a very large round goblet, and it was so smooth and mellow - the bacon and maple were subtle, it was not too sweet and not bitter at all. Others in our group got the half blood chai and some of the drinks from the standard menu, and no one was disappointed! Everything was wonderful! We didn't order it ourselves but someone ordered the Sorting drink, and we got to witness the magic of the color changing potion to determine his house - it was very exciting and cheering for the result made it feel like we were at school cheering on a newly sorted classmate I can't speak to what it's like on weekdays, but if you're going on a weekend be prepared for a long wait. The line was out the door with a constant stream of customers. The interior is quite small, but there is a larger patio space outside with additional seating - but it was very full the whole time we were there, and it only got busier! There is also only one bathroom, so it can be a little bit of a wait there as well. There is a large space for additional parking so it's not as stressful as parking down town usually is! Their signature coffees are like nothing else; they're not too sweet, perfectly flavored, and beautifully crafted. Every cup feels like a work of art. I only wish they were open beyond 2 o'clock! I have been here a few times and this cafe never disappoints! After seeing The Coffee Builders named as #1 Top Place to Drink 2024 by Yelp Phoenix, I made it a point to stop in and try it out. This café is in downtown Phoenix so I wondered about parking difficulties. I was so pleased when I pulled up to see that in addition to several spots at a front parking lot exposed to the street, there is a large private parking lot through the gate adjacent to the café, which shares parking with Porter Barn Wood, a lumber store. The lumber store actually owns the café and high-end materials from the lumber store were used to create and design the interior of the café. Be sure to look up and notice the intricate angled woodworking design on the ceiling. The interior gives a warm and cozy feel with real wood covering the walls, with artistic touches near the condiments area that looks like a wood and stained glass feature. There are tables and booths located inside. If you'd like to sit out in the fresh air, there is a very long and narrow spacious patio with heat lamps, sheltered from the busy street. The menu shows the basic coffee and tea favorites as well as beverage creations that sound luxurious. The food menu is equally luxurious with some decadent choices from caviar topped deviled eggs to fancy bread choices with edible flowers as garnish. The food is delicious, and is presented so artistically that I almost don't want to disturb the plate. Also, the plates are made from Areca palm leaves and look and feel like wood, a great sustainable choice for the environment. Everything about this café makes you feel like you are experiencing a special moment. The servers here are extremely friendly and helpful. They bring the drinks and food to you. There's a tray on top of the trashcan for self clearing when you are finished. One spacious gender neutral restroom is located near the entrance. I stopped by here yesterday with my wife, her parents and our twins for our morning coffee. We were headed towards Scottsdale and so I looked for a coffee shop somewhat on the way. Coffee Builders came up and with its stellar Yelp score on tons of reviews, I knew I couldn't pass it up. We parked in their lot off South 7th Street and headed in. The inside of this place was interesting as it felt sort of like a club. It was a little on the darker side and had a large table and then a bunch of smaller ones as well. There was a place to order as well as a pastry display case and another display case for their deviled eggs. Finally they had toys like magnet doodles, rubiks cubes and blocks which my kids enjoyed. For coffee on this morning I went with a large latte with smoked cherry syrup while my wife and mother in law went with the chocolate pistachio latte iced. My coffee here ended up being quite good as there was a good ratio of milk to coffee and the coffee tasted good. Then the syrup was perfectly in the background with a light cherry and even lighter smoked flavor which lingered on the finish and was pleasing to the palate. My wife and mother in law really enjoyed their coffees as well and my mother in law told me it was 5 stars for her. Beyond that I also ordered my wife and I a blueberry bourbon pastry to split. The pastry on here was incredible and it was both flaky and super crunchy. Then the blueberry filling was also delicious and I enjoyed it very much even if I did think that the bourbon flavor was missing. Love this little place to grab a quick cup of coffee and something to eat. Came in early for coffee and pastries and was a little shell shocked over how expensive two pastries and tow cups of coffee cost, but you get what you pay for and both were outstanding. I love a grassy matcha that takes it sweetness from the milk. This was just that. Best yet, when you order for in store, they bring it in a real glass. I appreciate less waste! First the bathroom is right at the front door, which is kinda weird but the design was so cool they are forgiven. The place is designed and decorated very nicely. The Coffee Builders kept showing up on Instagram calling my name for their Harry Potter themed drinks. The interior was so cute inside with their Harry Potter themed decor and mood lighting. You walked up to the counter and ordered your drinks and food and then they brought them to you when ready. My bacon quiche was delicious and spread that came with it was bright and flavorful. The contrasting dark and light colors and angular incongruent wood give the coffee shop a trendy feel. I learned that the coffee shop is owned by a master wood worker. Makes sense. Pro tip-check out the work shop in the old warehouse adjacent. Trying a local roaster is always a treat. Coffee builder roasts their own beans. When I visit a new coffee shop , I like to try a drip, to taste the unique flavours and nuisances of their beans, but decided to go with the masala gold. Delicious. Here are my takes: Food/Drinks: I got the fancy farmhouse and the masala specialty drink. Both were very well presented and tasted great. This is a unique cafe find with very unique menu that I have never seen anywhere else. This place is maybe the best cafe I have ever been to in Phoenix City. Great experience. Service: The staff is one of the nicest you would interact with. Very welcoming and they go above and beyond with everything. We in fact went a day early but we reached after closing time. They offered us an iced tea instead for free since their kitchen was closed. Ambiance: Great interior decor and unique take on every element of the place. It's romantic as well as great for kids and business folks. Hygiene: Top-notch cleanliness overall from seating to the counters, everywhere. Price: The price may be a little over average for the food items at least but it's about the quality of the items and also very unique menu items. What a wonderful morning! I've been looking forward to experiencing The Wizarding World of Coffee at The Coffee Builders, and I finally made it before it all wraps up on 12/31. As soon as we stepped inside, it felt like we were in Hogwarts. Our cashier, Ethan, was amazing. When my husband showed interest in the Buttered Brew, Ethan offered him a sample, noting that it can be quite sweet due to the vanilla cream and caramel nitro cold brew. My husband chose to add two shots of espresso, and it was just right! I went for the Half-Blooded Dirty Chai, which featured espresso, cranberry, sweet chai, beet powder, and vanilla cold foam. 1/18/25: Short version - what a pleasant surprise Coffee Builders was. There's more parking than you would think, a lot more seating as well (outside anyway), and a larger menu than I was expecting. Definitely a place we would visit again. Longer version - the ball park is close by but it's still in an area I would have dubbed "sketchy". It's a building that looks relatively new so I always thought it was out of place, and my bad for thinking it was small and had crappy parking. The parking lot there on 7th St has about six or so spots but surprise to us, there is a larger parking lot in the back to accommodate CB and the few other stores close by. That's what happens when you drive by quickly and don't Google map a place: you make wrong assumptions and miss out eating / drinking at a really cool place. The inside is well decorated, has plush seating, was a bit cramped looking though for my taste buy hey! another surprise: they have a substantial sized patio north of the building. They do have heat lamps and I noticed misters for our hot summer months. Awesome! They have a pretty large drink menu and fairly substantial food menu as well, including paninis, lavash, and more importantly pastries. :-) My sister said her chocolate pistachio drink did not have a lot of flavor, that she would get something next time; my bourbon vanilla hot chocolate was good despite not tasting the bourbon (ha ha); the strawberry rhubarb pastry was extremely flaky; the prime, pimento, & blue panino was delicious; and finally, the mini ube waffles were pretty good although I not good enough to get again -- not with all the other items to choose from and explore. I will say the patio chairs were a tad ... odd. My sister is a large person and she felt they were too narrow. In my opinion they were very short in depth, meaning the seat edge ended closer to my butt than my knees. I will say they are the heaviest patio chairs we have encountered so good luck trying to steal one. LOL! The presentation of the beverages & meals was well done, and though the pastry came on a glass plate, the hard plates used for the meals are made out of pressed palm leaves so 1) they were pretty damn sturdy, and 2) are compostable (based on my research). I love this! All in all, for two people's drinks, meals, and one pastry, a bill of $65 (incl. tip) although some may say a bit high for breakfast, we both agree it was worth it. And yes, it will be on my list of "let's go there again" places to eat / drink. read more

This is such a cool spot and one of the greatest finds! We were driving to the science center and turned to Yelp to find a caffeine pick-me-up. The orange blossom iced latte was sooo good and unique- I keep thinking about it months later. They also use a really good quality chai powder that isn't too sweet. My only note is that it can get a little loud when it's busy due to being a small space, so if you have trouble focusing, this might not be the spot for you.
