This is a small store, located on the corner of a plaza, with only half a dozen tables. I visited on a weekday, early afternoon and the place was squeaky clean. Only one fellow was working, doing everything, dashing back and forth between the register and making drinks. Luckily for him, it was relatively quiet when I was there. I ordered a hot vanilla latte and a chocolate croissant. He let me know they were out of the chocolate croissants but they had my second choice, an almond croissant. When my order was ready, I took a seat at a table. The croissant was fresh and the frangipane inside was plentiful and delicious. The latte was a proper one with the perfect amount of foam on top. It was served at an immediately drinkable temperature and was made with a good brew. The vanilla flavor was on the weak side but the sweetness it brought was spot on. Oddly, no restroom. read more

extremely rude and unprofessional staff. One of the girls name was Kaitlyn from what she said, when i asked to speak to a manager she chuckled and said they are not available today. So i simply asked for the managers name, she said she "is not allowed to disclose that information as it is private" which is bizzare! This is a food/service business, no the managers name is never "confidential". The short girl that was also working, really is the reason i even wanted to complain. Just very rude and condisending for absolutle no reason. i order two different drinks for pick up. they looked identical, although one was a hazelnut and the other was cookie butter. i simply asked if these were correct, i already threw my bag with the "stickers" in the trash, she yanked the bag out of the trash right in front of me and goes "oh its on the tags, see it explains which one is which flavor" then starts sticking the stickers on to the drinks. instead of simply confirming that the drinks were accurate. This is my closest coffee, bean and tea leaf! I went to the first one I think when Orange County back 50 years ago at South Coast Plaza! I used to go down there to get my beans and I lived in Yorba Linda. Their coffee is so much better than Starbucks, I wish they would've taken off at that time because they had a quality product from the beginning! I like this coffee bean because I am a bit handicapped and when I get beans here to take home, I get a free cup of coffee and I need help to the car With my cup and everyone here is very friendly and kind and I always feel welcome here! February 28, 2026 at 3:50 PM I had a really disappointing experience here today around 3:50 PM. I ordered an iced coffee with cream and sugar, which is a pretty simple request. When I received my drink, I noticed it didn't have half and half. Instead of informing me upfront that they were out, the employee said nothing. When I politely approached her and mentioned that I ordered it with half and half, she responded with, "Oh yeah, by the way, we don't have any," in a tone that came across extremely rude and dismissive. There was no apology, no explanation beforehand, and no effort to make it right. She then offered regular milk, but it looked old and watery, which made the situation even worse. The entire interaction felt disrespectful, and her attitude made me feel embarrassed for even asking about my order. Customer service matters just as much as the product. A simple explanation and a polite tone would have completely changed this experience. Unfortunately, this interaction left a very negative impression. The staff is rude and inattentive. I stood waiting for my order that was already ready for over 7 minutes. No one acknowledged me and it wasn't until I asked about my order that I was greeted. Then I asked the staff member if everything was accounted for because only a few of the items ordered were on the list that was stapled to the bag. When I asked about this, the staff member rudely stated that she would have to staple 6 receipts to the bag. As an Uber Eats driver, I needed to ensure that all items listed were included in the bag I received. I have always preferred The Coffee Bean over any of the other big chain coffee shops in my area. All of the drinks here are just a little sweeter, both coffees & teas, and that's just how I like it! We signed up for their rewards app and got our first drink free with app scan. There's also discounts and deals that you'll get for beings a rewards member. Good GRIEF this place is bad. I'm here in the morning; it's not busy. YET tables and seats and floor is dirty wtih wrappers, crumbs, liquids... Ugh. I order a brioche sandwich -- most of it is super tough like when you put bread in the microwave and it makes it hard. I order a dirty chai latte. It comes: with only 1 mm of foam at the top; the cup filled literall to the brim; and scalding hot (200+ degrees F.). I also don't taste any coffee shot inside. I don't bother to go back, as the kid making the drinks... well, I don't think he can do any better. Hands down, this is a SUBPAR Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (I can't believe this is even a CB&TL, it's so bad). Corporate needs to close this place down. It's ruining the brand. This place has severely fallen off. I used to go often because it's right by my work but I'll hike the extra miles to Peets. The coffee is water-down and often made poorly, the service is beyond lack-luster. Like, you don't have to like me but at least say anything when you take my order and try not looking like you hate your very existence. This place needs new management or something. read more

This is very good CB&TL location near the big intersection of Newport Blvd and Harbor, making it a very convenient location. Being in a larger shopping center means there is almost always multiple nearby parking places available, which is good, because this location does not have a drive-thru. But there is little seating, either so I would classify this location as "grab and go." The main reason to go here are the uniquely fabulous "Iced Blended" drinks, some with coffee and some without. They are much, much better than a SB "Frappuccino" because they are made with powder, not SB super sweet syrup, and there coffee flavor and the chosen flavor, such as vanilla or mocha, and blended super smooth. How do they do this? I don't think it's a secret that they use "crushed" ice, rather than cubes. Anyway, check them out and enjoy a great iced beverage! read more

Ive usually had good experiences at coffee bean, everything is usually good but they added boba to the menu so I decided to try it out. I got the 32 oz tea with boba which was a dollar extra. I didnt expect too much considering Coffee Beans specialty isnt boba. But when i got my tea there were maybe 20 boba pearls in the entire drink. It was such a disappointment considering it was a $1 extra for about two sip of boba. Theres literally a single layer. read more

I wasn't going to say anything but the way I get treated at the Costa Mesa location is unacceptable!! I've been going to that coffee bean for years now out of the 30 years plus I've lived in this city and not until recently is that I started getting treated so poorly . I hadn't been there in a while but these last few times have been a horrible experience. The cashiers are always rude ,not sure if it's the color of my skin or the way I look but everyone seems to be in a bad mood and are extremely rude to me . I see everyone getting acknowledgment , greeeted as they walk in but I don't . That doesnt bother me , however the fact when I ask the barista if she can top me off with hot coffee because my coffee is a bit cold and too sweet I get responded with " your going to have to wait we're busy " exact words in a very very rude manner . I love the coffee so much that I even started placing an order online to avoid all that energy and just get my coffee and even that was a problem . I walked in confused as to where I picked up my coffee order , walked in no a knowledgement whatsoever ever and when I reach to get my coffee that I PAID FOR ALREADY this specific gentleman not sure what his name is ( wish I did )literally screams out YOU CANT JUST GRAB YOUR OFFEE LIKE THAT YOU GOTTA ASK . So emberrasing!! That is not the way you talk to people and honestly that gentlemen needs disciplinary action however I didn't want to go back to get his name , that's how bad it was . That was it for me . I've never ever complained about anything before . Came in for a tea drink this morning and the girl at the register not only charged me for my drink, but tipped herself 25%. When the screen with the total and tip came up, it immediately changed to the screen to charge my card. I thought it was strange and proceeded to tap the screen with my card to pay. I did ask for the receipt and noticed the added tip amount. I was in a rush so it was a battle I didn't want to waste time with, but I'll never be going back. So, I ordered an iced coffee and a hot Carmel latte. I got two iced lattes. The barista seemed surprised when I was confused when she handed me the drinks. I told her what I ordered, but by then she had two people in line waiting. Ordered the vanilla bean iced coffee and it tasted straight up like just syrup, so I mixed it around some more and nothing changed. They put a lot of crushed ice so I thought if I waited longer, it will dilute my drink a bit so it's not too sweet.. I tasted it 3 times before my flight was boarding and mannn what a waste. Went to this location on Friday around 6:30 PM. Was rung up by a blonde caucasian female barista. My friend who had a medical condition had asked to use their restroom after purchasing a drink but the barista denied her request saying it's for "employee use only". My friend explained the situation and even despite making a purchase was not accommodated.
