Yesterday during lunch was my first time dining at The Capital Burger. I was greeted well as soon as I entered and seated immediately. Very good customer service, especially by the management team and they were very present and made sure that I was enjoying my experience dining there. The ambiance was very relaxing and not noisy or chaotic. I really appreciated that because that is hard to find nowadays. Also, the table was set well and it was very clean throughout the dining area. I had their Roasted Wild Mushroom and Swiss Burger. It was very good. I loved that they use Pat La Frieda beef for their burger patties, the mushrooms were so flavorful from the balsamic vinegar, the Jarlsberg Swiss cheese had a nice mild cheesy touch, and their truffle aioli was the best savory sauce to complement it all. 9.5/10 for the burger and 10/10 for the customer service. 5/29/26, we had a party of 8-10 people during happy hour outside on nice couches with different drinks which I could not keep up with besides the guys and their beers and different orders of white wines. Ariana, our server was patient and we covered other people that left without paying. Around 7:00 pm, we had shift to ordering dinner. Everyone practically ordered the roasted wild mushroom and Swiss burger which is best burger I had!!! We had a half cup of clam chowder with it and a side of truffle tries. 5/30/26, we're back...5-6 people. However, we ran off to down the street. It was great either way to build a little appetite. When we return. We ordered devil eggs with bacon (so delicious with smokiness), calamari without hot peppers...crispy and tasty with a little lemon, and then added truffle fries with Parmesan cheese! Yummy! Bella was our server and cordial. There was a mix up on delivery but the next table and us cracked up laughing. Stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday and had a nice experience. The staff were very attentive to us and gave us great recommendations. We started with the kung pao Brussels. They were very good. The sauce was a little on the sweet side but we still enjoyed them! I ordered the capital burger, our waiters favorite. He recommended I try the fries with the Gouda cheese sauce on the side. This way, the fries stay crispy. I'm so glad I listened to him because those fries with the cheese as the dipping sauce were the BEST fries I've had in a while!! It provides a steakhouse-like burger experience, with an extensive wine list and a variety of cocktails. We visited for breakfast, and their breakfast burger was excellent--juicy and satisfying. The pancake was simple yet delicious, topped with maple syrup, powdered sugar, and plenty of blueberries. The applewood-smoked bacon and egg on a brioche burger were okay. However, the coffee was disappointing: the cappuccino was too acidic, and the café latte was more like a café au lait with lots of milk. Service was adequate, but the upscale ambiance felt outdated and in need of upgrades. The nearby parking garage operated by Hyatt charges for parking, unlike other garages in Reston Town Center, which are free on Sundays. After a FANTASTIC NYE celebration and a great nights sleep we couldn't bring ourselves to leave the hotel so here we are. I must say for hotel restaurant fare THIS FOOD SLAPS. Let's start with the house made bread and butter pickles. My word! So crunch and semi sweet with the onions? We had two servings and asked if they were for sale? Drinks were perfect. That Old Fashioned with the smoked candied BACON, sweet, smoky, STRONG. If you're a bourbon drinker YOU KNOW. The Playa Paradiso fruity with tequila was okay needed another shot tho. The signature Capital Burger... juicy and flavorful as is. Don't add one condiment! I upgraded to the truffle fries. They were garlicky and delicious. The food was phenomenal everytime I visited (3x a week for two months). Nothing ever came out wrong everything was delicious. But the thing that sets this restaurant apart in my eyes is the hospitality and the level of service the employees of the establishment bring. I just had a wonderful late night dining experience at The Capital Burger. I am staying at the hotel, and it was very conveniently located, plus they are open late. The atmosphere was relatively chill, and the restaurant itself was not particularly full, although the bar area was hopping. The space was well lighted and immaculately clean. My server, Ariana, was absolutely lovely, and her service was attentive and friendly. She made sure that my water glass was full and that I had refills on my Diet Coke. You can tell that she takes pride in her work, that she is a "people person," and that she enjoys her job. The manager stopped by my table a couple of times to check in, and he was friendly, professional and conversational. I was very happy with my order, which was a bacon cheeseburger with a side of brussels sprouts (in lieu of fries) and a Belgium chocolate mousse for dessert. Pretty mixed feelings on this place now. They used to be sooooo good. But after the most recent visit, it seems like the food has declined in quality. The burgers normally melted in your mouth. But now it felt like they switched how they made the patties because they definitely don't melt anymore. And it also feels like the burgers themselves don't taste as flavorful. It's like they forgot seasoning or something. And considering the prices are now all over $20 when they used to be $15 a year ago, I expect more from them. They upped the prices and reduced the quality. Quite sad considering I used to recommend them all the time. The service has also gone down in quality over the past year. It can be not busy and yet you won't see your server for 15 mins at a time. There's a line that can be drawn about visiting too often and not enough. The ambiance is darker. Definitely makes it feel more intimate and romantic. Wish the food still matched that energy. I can't highly recommend this place anymore. Perhaps they will read their recent reviews and do better. I had lunch here while staying here for a conference, and it was lovely! The pickles that arrive immediately as a starter were delicious. Our server was so kind and helpful! Our meal arrived quickly and was delicious. I had the calamari with a side of truffle fries. The fries were PERFECT. The calamari was cooked perfectly, as well. I really enjoyed how flavorful each fry was and finished these quite quickly :) For my entree, I went with the Capital Burger medium rare with a side of mash potatoes. The meat was juicy, but not the most flavorful. The Wisconsin Gruyere cheese and caramelized onions truly made the meal complete. I do wish I could have tasted the Shallot Aioli a bit more. I wish we had a Capital Burger in the Seattle area. It's always a good meal when I visit a Capital Burger spot, and at this northern Virginia location, the food was delicious. Solid food and drinks, but the service could be better. We visited The Capital Burger on a Friday night and sat at the bar where the place wasn't too busy, with just a few patrons dining in. This Capital Burger is located in the Reston Town Center in the Hyatt. The bar is nice, reflective of what you'd expect from a classy steakhouse, with dark wood furnishings and whatnot. I ordered the signature Capital Burger with a side of the kale salad, and had their signature pineapple martini. The bartender who was helping us seemed to be in a bad mood, as his answers were very short. When asked for recommendations for a cocktail, he said, "They're all good." He clearly did not want to make any conversation with us and didn't even acknowledge a thanks or anything. He'd drop off the food and leave. K, thanks. Can we get our waters refilled? We had to wave down another server for follow up. The food however, was delicious. If you like French onion soup, you'll like the signature burger, which is a beef patty with melted gruyere and caramelized onions. The kale salad was really good, with a peanut sauce. Came for dinner a little after 4:00pm; it was very empty. Service is good as our waiter was attentive. I ordered their signature Capital Burger. I ordered it medium and it was cooked perfectly. However, the burger was severely under seasoned (both the patty and caramelized onions needed WAYYY more salt). The use a "proprietary beef blend" for their patties but I honestly did not notice a significant taste difference. I do like that they fry their fries in beef tallow, but the overall taste and texture was just okay. The burgers are quite sizable though so no complaints there. The waiter came with the burgers and fries for the table in a bit. I ordered another lemonade. The bun was fresh. Burger cooked medium like I asked. Fries on the plate were hot and crispy. We arrived early for a Saturday evening, around 5:45pm. We knew they didn't take reservations so we wanted to get there on the early side. We were seated immediately. Our server came and introduced herself, took our drink orders and gave us some time to peruse the menu. I ordered the Pursuit of Happiness and husband had the Stoli Doli. Both fantastic!! For apps, we chose to share the Bavarian pretzel. It was huge and would've easily been great for 4-5 people. My son ordered the lobster bisque. I took a taste and it was delicious! Lots of chunks of lobster. For dinner, I had the Bleu cheese and black truffle burger, my husband has the capital burger with bacon and my son had the filet with mashed potatoes. Both husband and I thought it was one of the best burgers we have ever had! Cooked perfectly, the flavors of each burger were complimentary, and the burger was so juicy! He had a side of roasted brussel sprouts and I had the smoked Gouda cheese fries. Both were prepared well and very tasty! My son enjoyed his filet and mashed potatoes. Would definitely go back there again. We were smart to go early as it did get crowded around 7pm. They turned the lights down to give it more of a romantic feel. One of the best burgers I've had in years. I got the capital burger, and it was like a French onion soup burger. The Gruyère cheese with the caramelized onions was delicious, the patty was cooked medium to perfection and the size of the patty compared to the bun was huge. I got the Brussels sprouts which was a little on the bitter side, maybe a bit more balsamic glaze would have made them sweeter but they were still very good. The other burger was equally delicious, a mix of savory and sweet. The fries were well seasoned and crispy, and I think cooked in some kind of animal fat because they had that taste to them. Really good fries. Also got the chocolate mousse and it was 100/10. Definitely try that. We got take out but the food was ready by the time I walked over the pick it up, and the hand off was quick. What a crazy night when we walked in after an event, the place was still almost empty. However, 5 min later, the place was crazy and crowded from the event that was at the hotel. It was loud, and people bellying up to the bar, but the staff handled it like any other Thursday night. Drinks came quickly, and food came out in a timely manner. Speaking of food, we had the late night menu. Thai wings, shashito peppers, and a Ribeye steak sandwich. Each was prepared to perfection. Kyle, our server was as cool as they came. Many folks were yelling stuff to him, asking him for things, but he was calm and cool and was able to make everyone at our table and around us happy. When it got busy they dropped the ball a little, but overall I'd still come back. The bourbon shake was delicious and strong! It's a great milkshake to go with your burger. Upon the recommendation from my daughter, we decided to venture out to celebrate my birthday on warm Sunday evening and try The Capital Burger. Since the pandemic started, we have been fairly insistent on finding restaurants with comfortable outdoor seating, and we weren't disappointed with the comfortable seat we were offered on the patio facing a lovely park. This is located in one of the more quiet areas of Reston Town Center. Upon arriving at our table, we were provide a tasty jar of bread and butter pickles and an a bottle of water for the table to share. The waiter, George, was very helpful and guided us through the menu. The bar menu looked excellent, and the drinks that others were enjoying looked very good, however we did not imbibe this evening. We started out with an appetizer size of french fries. The fries are deep fried in beef tallow which makes them especially delicious. However, keep in mind that tallow is basically cow lard (50% saturated fat), so it isn't something you would want to eat everyday. But the fries are made even better by dipping them in Truffle Aioli, Béarnaise and Spicy Mayo that comes with them. Very decadent, but a great way to treat yourself! I fancy myself a kind of "fry connoisseur", and I have to say that these are some of the best fries I have ever eaten. And then this happened.... For my entree, I chose the blue cheese and truffle burger that comes topped with black truffle, melted blue cheese, Cabernet-braised sweet onions. I ordered the burger medium rare, but unfortunately the burger arrived well done. I am really not a fan of well done burgers, so George kindly took it back to have another burger prepared. Well....George brought the freshly cooked second burger out, but it was barely on the well done side of medium. Seeing that everyone else was over half done eating, I accepted the burger from George. It wasn't his fault and I didn't want to eat alone. The burger was fine, but would have been spectacular if cooked correctly. Let me be kind but clear. If your restaurant has the word "burger" in the name, you only really need to get one thing right. Just one thing....that has to do with burgers....like knowing what medium rare looks like. $16 dollars for a burger, in a restaurant called "The Capital Burger", that is also associated with The Capital Grill, should be able to cook a hamburger correctly when given two chances. The burger was really good otherwise, but I can only get to three stars. Two failed attempts takes two stars off my rating. Everyone else had better luck and enjoyed burgers that were properly cooked. It wasn't their birthday, so maybe that is key to getting your burger cooked to order. Don't go on your birthday. In summary, this is a nice restaurant that has great atmosphere, great service and a lousy burger chef on Sundays. I see potential for The Capital Burger, once they get the burger part fixed. Come here with a friend for lunch during the week. I was immediately greeted at the door and offered seating in either the dining room or the bar area. I chose the dining room. They put pickles on the table instead of bread. Yum! They were sweet and delicious. I ordered the cheeseburger medium with Gorgonzola cheese, tomato, and extra lettuce. Next time I'll try another cheese- so many choices! The burger looked a little red but was still delicious! The side kale salad was incredible and I'd get that again too. Service was perfect.
