I dropped in on a random Friday night after work and was surprised by how low-key (i.e., NOT CROWDED) the joint was. They even had a happy hour going, in addition to a cool beer+shot of whisky deal too, which I of course could not refuse. Pretty good combo, I must say. They have about a dozen taps with lots of great/unusual beer to choose from. They even have 2 beers on Cask. Someone here cares about their beer. I'm not sure why the other reviewers said it was an Irish pub. It is a simple place. It isn't pretty. Just good beer. It looks sort of like DBA, but not as nice. I've been to Brazen Head more times than I can count so maybe I'm just getting tired of the same old same old. I don't know... I used to really like it - the growlers, the cheap(ish) PBR at the end of the night when you want a drink but not a "real" drink, the casual layout. But recently I'm grown weary of Brazen Head. The beer selection isn't that special anymore, the deals aren't that great and the shine is off the apple. That said. Good beer selection, outdoor seating, nice vibe, bartenders are cool, dart board in the back. I would recommend this bar to anyone - whether you're bringing friends from out of town, friends from Manhattan or your parents, I think this has a good vibe for all types. And the prices are decent too they don't over charge you for the quality brews like some places do. The only major drawback is there tends to be some older serious alcoholics who come in here. Pretty freaking awesome. Wandered in here with a girlfriend Saturday night, drawn in by the promise of $6 Mango Martinis. It was busy, but not too busy. We immediately made friends with Courtney the bartender, who was super-sweet and fun. The mango martinis were amazing, and the conversation with Courtney was pretty awesome, too. I love this place! Happy hour lasts for as long as you're paying for drinks and if you're nice they give u wings in the afternoons.. They also have darts and a backyard for us to smoke in. This is the best place in the world next to my own bed!! No seriously come through! read more

I guess this place could be ok, but I had a bad experience there. First, the bartender asked "who wants sound for the football game" and the one person who raised his hand got his wish as the music was extinguished. Love this bar. They have a fantastic selection of rotating craft beer. They also have a great collection of bourbon. With sports in the tv and a back patio for summer you can't go wrong. They also have bowls with a pretzel mix on the bar. They also have a dart game you can play. They don't serve food but I don't mind that. In addition they have free wings every Monday night. Granted, I don't know that many bars in Brooklyn, but Brazen Head is my favorite anyhow. Monday they have FREE wings. That's right...FREE. Granted, you have to get there right when they come out (around 5) or they will be all gone. The owner who is also a chef has other special events with free food (or free food with purchase of a drink rather). Sunday they have free bagels with cream cheese and $5 Marys or mimosas. The drinks are reasonably priced and the staff is friendly. It's got an awesome, laid-back vibe. Even if it's not a free food night, they have a giant book of places you can order from in Brooklyn Heights, which is a lovely area. The bar is a good size, and the music is always different depending on who is bartending. On weekends, it can get crazy and loud. They have a variety of beers on tap that is constantly changing according to season. Great place for birthdays, watching games, or just hanging out. This bar has no specific demographic. Anyone who is relaxed and easy going is welcome. read more

There are no ice statues of Buddha, no clientele in shimmering Marc Jacobs evening wear, no bartenders with suspenders and handlebar mustaches. The place is like Central Perk from the old Friends TV show, except it is more dimly lit and has a liquor license. The Brazen Head has been the go-to meet up bar for Cobble Hill and other Brooklyn residents for many years, whether to catch up with friends, watch football, or participate in afternoon day drinking. The Brazen Head offers a well-curated selection of craft beer, from your hoppy Blue Point Hoptical Illusion to your "substantial-enough-for-a-meal" Captain Lawrence smoked porter. There is also a not-so-insignificant list of blended and single-malt scotches. The bartender usually offers a free one after three drinks, so this is a solid place if you're into session drinking. Came here looking for a chill spot to hang out with friends. Luckily, we found a large booth and even some space near the darts board in the back. I got their current special, Not Your Father's Root Beer + shot of vanilla vodka ($9). The bartender offered to blend it together in a cup of ice instead of having each one separately and this was a really good decision. It really is just one of those local places that you are gonna love if you live down the street from it and hate it if you made the trip to go there for some reason. a sweet place to chill with your friends. but in that regard it is just another bar that you are lucky to have close to you, but don't bother making it the climax of your evening. read more

Been coming here for years. Non-scuzzy dive, unpretentious, average in the awesomest way. Never gets annoyingly crowded or so loud that you can't have a conversation. If you love craft beers, this is the place you got to go. my favorite are cask ales. they also hold a cask beer festival. so much fun!! if you like smoking, you can join the owner with a cigar in the back! there is a terrace but not much of a view. they have great happy hour special during the work week. sometimes, with free wings and other goodies. that's very rare for many bars in nyc. buy back is also very rare too! the beer selection changes often. one day, you may find a few good beers while another day, you'll find a few more good beers! ....provided you remember what you drank! read more

I went for the free wings on tuesday or monday. I can't remember which day, but I do remember how horrible the wings tasted. They were jerk flavored wings and were gross. The drink prices could be better and the service more friendly. Some guy brought his baby to the bar which was weird to me. There are definitely some characters there. My friend and I spoke to some really eccentric types. Maybe its better on other days. I wouldn't purposely recommend this place. Its pretty boring. read more
