I've been coming here for years, I once hid from my ex, James Bond style in the photo booth in the back. It's always fun times. I've built a rapport with everyone who works here principally Katie which I didn't like at first out of my own bias. There's always an eccentric crow with stragglers, pool players and pinball nerds. Great deals on drinks, solid pool table, darts, air hockey, buck hunter. It's a staple in the neighborhood, keep it up guys, if I could give you another star I would.

Pool table - check. Air hockey - check. Tabletop Ms. Pacman/Galaga - check. Good beers on tap - check. A bunch of pinball machines - check. Great crowd - check. Basically, Buttermilk Bar has all the makings of a good night out. I used to pass by all the time, but never stepped in. That was a mistake. Bartender is super cool, and they have beer/shot specials (and even a beer/t-shirt special). Oh, and they play tons of 90s alternative and pop punk. They've really got that cool friend's basement vibe down.

Best go to bar afterwork. Come here every Friday night for couple drinks. The bartender "TOM"always hook me up with a free shot of whiskey. ALWAYS. Ill be back EVERY FRIDAY just for that. Lmfao.

My girlfriend and our roommate absolutely LOVE this place. Sure, it's nothing special to look at from the outside and very easy to miss (there is no sign on the building, just a board out front of the door), but the inside is filled with a warm, welcoming experience, not to mention the adorable little mascot that greets you as soon as you enter the room! The decor screams "older crowd" but I assure, the bar always contains 20-30 somethings just looking to get some cheap drinks and have a good time. This place has easily become a go-to spot in my neighborhood, as it is just a short walk from my apartment. Highlights of the bar: Free darts, $3 happy hour from 5pm-7pm, $1 air hockey table in the back, a friendly mascot to play fetch with, and a pool table for those who are the drinking/gaming type (although the table is somewhat falling apart and needs re-leveled very badly due to a slight lean on one side, but it's the only pool table in a 6 block span, so who cares). Downsides of the bar: Not an extremely large selection of drafts. They have about 7 or 8 taps, but luckily, they are all good beers and not your typical Bud-Light dive-bar scenario drafts. Overall, it's just a great, low key, relaxed place to hang out and have drinks. I always spend less than $20 every time I go, and I'm always satisfied by the overall enjoyable quality of the experience.

Ask the Community - Buttermilk Bar

    Do they serve buttermilk (BAHHTERMORK!)?

I would hope so otherwise it is false advertising like the time I visited the M&M store and was shocked to find out it was NOT made of M&M's. I gave it two stars because I love M&M's.

It was divey and chill, had some classic WWE pinball, air hockey and not one, not two, but three whiskey/beer combos.

As someone who has come to this bar regularly to watch Knicks playoff games, I can confidently say…read moreI will never return after what happened during the NBA Finals last night. What this bar pulled was completely unacceptable. They were openly reserving seats at the bar for certain people while telling everyone else they were unavailable. There was no advertised reservation policy, no advance notice, and no opportunity offered to regular customers. Apparently, the only way to get a seat is to know the owner, know the bartenders, or be part of the inner circle. What made it even worse was that my group had been sitting at the bar, ordering food and drinks starting around 7:30 PM, only to be forced out of our seats at 7:45 PM. The reservation signs on those seats clearly stated they were reserved for 8:15 PM. We were paying customers actively spending money, yet we were removed 30 minutes before the supposed reservation time. That is absolutely egregious behavior. I've worked in sports bars and have owned sports bars in New York City. In all my years in the business, I have never heard of reserving seats directly at the bar--especially during a major sporting event. It goes against everything that makes a sports bar successful. Bar seats have always been first-come, first-served. That's Sports Bar 101. I've spent plenty of money here over the years because it was always a great place to watch big games: good atmosphere, sound on the TVs, and a fun crowd. Unfortunately, last night proved that customer loyalty means absolutely nothing. Regular patrons were treated like second-class citizens while preferred customers received special treatment. For a bar that markets itself as a neighborhood sports destination, this was incredibly disappointing, unprofessional, and frankly insulting. If you're planning to watch a major game here, don't assume you'll be treated fairly. Unless you're friends with the right people, don't expect the same experience as everyone else. There are plenty of other sports bars in Brooklyn that understand how to treat customers. After last night, I'll be spending my money there instead. I won't be back, and I certainly won't be recommending this place to anyone. Let's Go Knicks
