a bar with a variety of alcohols

Came in here before a Yelp event to kill some time. I live kind of in the neighborhood but on the other side of Ocean Parkway and always wondered about this bar. Usually passed it for other more trendy places down Cortelyou. But man, was I wrong. This place is awesome. Yeah, it gives off seedy English pub, Old Man bar vibes. But super friendly. Super friendly customers. Like it felt like cheers in here and I only stayed for sadly 30 minutes. The one downside is that happy hour ends at 6 but the bartender kindly let me jump in on it when I was like 3 or 4 minutes past. And no one let me tells you let's that happen in Manhattan. Sometimes I get stiffed on happy hours during the middle of happy hour out there. lol. I was also treated to a complimentary shot for it being my first time at the bar. I definitely wouldn't skip on this ever again when searching for a place to grab drinks with friends in my neighborhood. They also appear to be soccer fans if that's your thing. Decent selection of beers, canned wine, and frozen margaritas. Which the last is an interesting addition for a dive bar.

This is the best bar in the neighborhood, just the way I like it, quiet, intimate, with a nice clientele. There are other bars if you want noisy, karaoke, or hipster-central. This place is nice, with a chill vibe, a bar for adults. But they still have screens and get down for soccer. One of the best aspects of the bar are the bartenders who are great: Mike, Diane, and Auld. Auld serves up a great Whiskey Wednesday, where not only you can get 2-4-1 whiskeys (and the opportunity to try whiskeys you would never buy otherwise), but you get excellent suggestions, Auld is definitely expanding my whiskey knowledge and appreciation. Great atmosphere, a nice wooden bar look with an Arsenal leaning, adults engaging in adult conversations. Overall a great spot and my go to spot in the neighborhood!

This is the corner bar that I did a face palm that I hadn't returned in over two years. Mellow. Priced Right. Friendly bar keep in Sundays and NFL ticket. All that I was looking for and more , plus a cleverly decorated wash closet

Hey Diana, what's the 411?

Chill, cozy, low-key, local dive. Not pretentious - just exactly what every neighborhood needs.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with champagne, which immediately set the tone for a special evening. Our server, Daniel, was beyond amazing. He was warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making our anniversary meaningful. It never felt forced just thoughtful, polished hospitality. The team went above and beyond when we brought our wedding cake (which had been frozen for a year). Not only did they accommodate it without hesitation, they helped decorate and present it beautifully you would have thought it had been baked that same day. It was such a touching moment for us, and they handled it with care and enthusiasm. As for the food: incredible. The steak tartare was perfectly balanced and beautifully prepared. The tuna was fresh and vibrant. And the Beef Wellington... honestly one of the best I've had in New York City. Perfectly cooked, rich, elegant, and absolutely worthy of a celebration dinner. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance: romantic, warm, refined but relaxed. It felt special without being stiff. If you're looking for a place to celebrate something meaningful, this is it. We will absolutely return.

Awesome selection of menu, and drink best with a group gathering. Absolutely great vibe and easy-going, fun atmosphere. I found the hodgepodge of old-timey decor to be a bit kitsch, but to each their own. I came with a group on a weeknight with no reservation. We were seated immediately on a high wood table. Although the bar wasn't busy (there were plenty of empty spaces, small groups scattered throughout the area), the service was quite slow. The server was inattentive and took a while to take our orders. We had to ask her for water three times, searching for her across the room in an attempt to catch her attention. She was a bit absent during the two-ish hours we were there. On the bright side, the drinks were fairly good. I ordered this strawberry vodka cocktail topped with whole mint. I'm wary of vodka for its harsh, unpleasant taste, but I found this drink to actually be very pleasant, tasing like a fruit smoothie you'd get from a local juicer. There was also a burgundy drink served on a wine glass that tasted like the holidays. I liked that one quite a bit. Overall, Oscar Wilde was an okay experience. It's certainly a bar for a certain type of crowd, and the service was lacking, but maybe we went on a bad night. Maybe if you're lucky, you'll be served better than we were.

Always a solid choice, though it could have been a bit colder. The bartenders were very nice and attentive, and the place clearly has a strong group of regulars. There was a friendly, familiar energy in the room that made it feel welcoming right away. Once my friend arrived, I tried "The Greatest Espresso Martini" and asked to swap the vodka for bourbon. They were very accommodating, and the drink turned out delicious. Rich, smooth, and good enough that I ordered a second. Unfortunately, our server only heard that 5 of us wanted afternoon tea, and one of the tiers of food was smaller than the others. We also had to pay extra for additional tea, which we were fine with, but service was severely lacking throughout. Our server didn't check up on us, and seemed to want us to leave quickly after dropping off the check. We would have been happy to pay the $65 each for afternoon tea, but it wasn't worth it and frankly, I was agitated by the whole ordeal by the time I left. We were also disappointed by the food items (as they were lacking) and nothing about this was like other experiences we had with other afternoon teas. I can't in good faith recommend this place, nor do I see myself coming back after the atrocious service we experienced.
