Four of us visited That Place on a recent Sunday evening while visiting the area. We enjoyed the food and attentive service. I rate it 3.5*. VIBE: It was a cozy, crowded multi-room tavern with noisy, crowded bar area. Casual, local rustic feel. SERVICE: Our server was like the Energizer Bunny, animated, brisk, attentive. Food came out quickly, but we did not feel rushed. FOOD: Everything was good -- tasty, unpretentious, nothing fancy in the way of prep or presentation. Of the dishes I tasted, the beet salad and the seafood trio were not outstanding, but were A-OK. My companions also enjoyed their entrées of cioppino and stuffed shrimp. Wines by the glass offered a few serviceable choices. I'd return if I lived in the area, but as a visitor, That Place would not be my first dining choice. read more

When we walked in I was surprised because of how fancy and nice it is inside. Most the restaurants in the area were not. I think I underdressed in jean shorts, whoops . Let's start with the dessert: Creme brûlée was perfect. Salmon had this amazing sauce that was sweet, but not too sweet and it was creamy. Husband thought the shrimp was weird but liked other than that. The kids ordered a pizza and they loved it. Pizza wasn't anything special but kids love all pizza. I got a nice drink and so did my husband. Our server was very nice and attentive. Really good spot when in Ogunquit! read more

Came for dinner after reading the reviews. Must say we were disappointed. My wife ordered the stuffed shrimp and I ordered the baked haddock. We both thought our dishes were bland. They lacked seasoning and flavor. The caesar salad was okay. Also, the bar area was very noisy. Don't think we'll be bac. read more

Local restaurant/bar within walking distance of the hotel we stayed at... great location. The place was packed, we were able to grab a seat near the bar and place an order to go. I ordered their charred broiled hanger steak and roasted tomato bruschetta... very tasty and didn't get soggy on the walk back! The maple glaze bacon wrapped scallops were so tender and sweet! My group shared an order of the potstickers... nice and crispy and full of flavor! Had a few funky bow pale ales on draft as we waited for our order. Great place to hangout a d food is really good! read more

This is a 4.5 for me. We ate outside (still wary of the indoor dining process when we went) and they were very accommodating, attentive and made sure the heaters were doing their thing. Loved the way the Salmon was done, and my filet was cooked perfect. this is more my style than a critique, I love asparagus "grilled' and these were very tasty but a tad burnt, and the string beans were "blasé". French beans with a little spice would have worked better than blanched beans. I always try an onion soups when I can, its a way to compare many different places using the same food as a scale; Cheese and bread was good, flavorful and not over dilled but thought the onions could have used more time being caramelized and then simmered in the stock, which I like deep in color, this was lighter than I had hoped. Like the onion soup, crème Brule is another food I use to scale an experience, this was one of the best. Drinks a tad pricey but a decent pour. read more

That Place In Ogunquit - Outside dining is the norm for us...for now - New American Near Me - Ogunquit, Maine

The food was excellent as was the ambiance. My wife had the Cioppino which was excellent. The scallops were cooked perfectly even though they were in the broth along with the rest of the seafood. It was so good we shared. The broth wasn't fishy tasting at all, nor was any of the fish in the dish. Very fresh! I had the calamari and bacon wrapped scallops. Both were excellent. The calamari was lightly breaded and the aioli had just the right amount of kick. The scallops were cooked perfectly. I loved the maple glaze drizzled over them. Seriously the best I've ever had. For desert, we had the peanut butter mouse pie. Oh my was the good. Crazy good. But share it. The restaurant is in an older home but is nicely updated inside. It has a warm and inviting feel. It's a bit loud in there when full, but we liked the energy. The manager was very nice and asked us for feedback on her staff which was nice to see. She obviously cares about her guests. We highly recommend this restaurant and would return for sure the next time in town. No question. You should go. read more

Great food and a charming building. Service was attentive too. Prices were reasonable for the town. I'd recommend you check them out for diner. read more

I don't know why this place has such high ratings. The place itself is cute. But the food is mediocre at best. The broiled fish had a dry, dusty bread crumb topping that was mixed with spices, probably to cover up the not-so-fresh fish flavor. The green beans were barely warm, never mind actually cooked. The service was OK. But at the high prices they charge, you really do expect better. read more

An Ogunquit staple. Food, drinks and staff 100% of the time exceed all expectations. Great place to meet locals and make new friends. Lively fun atmosphere. Go 2-3 times every visit read more

Always a favorite dinner spot in Ogunquit. The bar serves amazing drinks in a friendly atmosphere. The menu has a good selection of New England fare. Benefit is that they have valet parking but is also walkable from Ogunquit center. read more

A wonderful beautiful delicious place. Very friendly with nice menu and tasty food. The prices were appropriate to this classy restaurant.

This is and has always been our favorite restaurant. Every year it's on the plan to go to dinner here. My whole family, because of previous experiences, also make it their ritual as well. Everyone has an off night so I'm not saying I'll never have dinner here again. I was disappointed. The calamari, which has always been the best was flavorless. The slow roasted beets were ok, not wow. The beef tenderloin was over done, the sauce was barbecue at best. The smashed potatoes were flavorless. The asparagus was good but green beans were over done and absolutely nothing on them. The service was fantastic as always and the cocktails were delicious. I'll try again next time read more

Not what it was last time I visited... Went on a Saturday at 5:30pm. For the prices you pay, I was expecting so much more. The pork belly was flavorless. The Thai noodles were such a disappointment- a bowl of noodles, mushrooms, and bell pepper. It was missing texture and flavor- scallions, peanuts, chilis- something! I can do far better at home. The salmon was good, the only redeeming part of the meal. I will not be returning. read more

Had a GREAT dinner here with a friend right before seeing the Cher Show!!! A little bit off the main drag in Ogunquit, That Place looks like just another home along a residential road, so it is a bit hard to notice, but once we figured it out and parked, we were greeted by a super friendly server and taken right to a wonderful table right next to a window! We ordered up some Margaritas, which were great and then went for french onion soups (great) and split a haddock dinner with fries and a roast beef au jus sandwich with horseradish mayo. Everything was solid and well prepared, standouts were the soups, with LOTS of melted cheese on top and the french fries that came with the sandwich. I asked for them well done, brown and crispy and they came out perfectly!! We both left happy and feeling like we would definitely return!!! read more

There are quite a few " smart casual" dining options in Ogunquit and I cannot claim to have tried them all, but , of those I have sampled That Place stands out. It is a small town average floor plan that lends an air of intimacy to a roomy vibe. The service is highly trained and knowledgeable but without being pretentious. As for the menu, it is large enough for choice but simple enough to suggest specificity and care for each dish. Escargots seem to be out of favor these days but here they immediately caught my attention and did not disappoint! Neither did the generous and perfectly cooked pork chop. Utterly delicious! My Hendricks martini arrived with a slice of cucumber as garnish- a stroke of genius- and has since become my sine qua non ( if you can persuade the bar tender to supply the cucumber!) Go on spoil yourself!! You'll thank me afterwards. read more

OK, so you might think I'm stalking this place. I'm not. But I do make it a point to go here whenever I'm in Ogunquit. Another perfect evening with The Wife (Patti). For the first time, we sat at a bistro table near the bar. Great view of the street and bar patrons. That Place seems very much a locals place to gather. Also for the first time, I got the seafood stew (Cioppino) sp?. Fabulous! Rich with seafood and a semi-spicy broth. Patti wasn't real hungry so opted for a haddock sandwich and French onion soup. Both excellent. Our waitress (Nicole, I think) was very friendly, helpful and attentive. As my 5 stars will attest, I highly recommend this place (Oops, That Place) when in Ogunquit. Parking is a non-issue as they valet the car. Give the guy a tip. Well worth the hassle of trying to park. read more

5 of us are in the dining room. We had 3 appetizers, tuna poke(as fresh as it gets), calamari and bacon wrapped scallops. All were excellent. Cosmos and lemon drop martini were very tasty. We had crab stuffed shrimp, bolognese, haddock and everything was very good. Prices were comparable to every other restaurant in the area. Service was excellent as well. Hardworking staff and owners. Will definitely be back. My only complaint is it is hard to get in last minute because they are so bus read more

Great food, servers and atmosphere! As locals we are there often and they never disappoint

After looking at various restaurant reviews, we decided that we would check this place out. Great decision!! We sat outside, which was nice to watch the passers by, although there is only a view of the street. (Interestingly, the restaurant with the water views did not have good ratings.) I had a cosmopolitan which I loved. And the French onion soup and baked seafood stuffed haddock which was outstanding. I would highly recommend. A+++ service. read more

For an exceptional dining experience, look no further than That Place in Ogunquit. The establishment boasts outstanding cuisine, expertly crafted drinks, and attentive service. My meal was truly remarkable, with expertly balanced flavors and beautifully presented dishes. The rum punches and Mojito were crafted with precision and care. We began our meal with French Onion Soup and Escargot, both of which were cooked to perfection. The recommended French Dip and Pork Chop, one of the best meals I've had in the area, were equally impressive. The service was outstanding, with friendly staff and a warm atmosphere. The restaurant features two distinct dining areas, a lively bar, and outdoor patio seating. While the bar area offers a unique menu, the dining areas focus on more formal cuisine, which if you ask for that menu in the bar area they are happy to oblige you. . Parking is available through valet, with limited spaces, and paid parking across the street. I highly recommend That Place in Ogunquit for a memorable dining experience. After dinner, guests can enjoy a leisurely stroll to Perkins Cove and Marginal Way. read more

That Place is "The" place you want to hit up if you are in the area. It has a bar and a separate section for dining; serving unbelievably delicious food and one of the few good places open during off season. Sampled the shrimp cocktail, beet salad and ordered the cioppino for dinner and every single item was executed to perfection. The shrimp cocktail had 3 fresh jumbo shrimp and not being a shrimp fan I commented on how good it was! The cioppino was extremely delicious with the right level of spiciness and generous serving of scallops, shrimp, fish and mussels - the picture is deceiving I could not get through all that seafood. Service was excellent - our waitress was very knowledgeable and checked in on us often but never making us feel rushed. Limited parking in the back. Bar was packed during off season - reservations recommended during peak season. read more

This was one of the best nights of our lives. Mark and I have been to That Place several times over the years and our experience with food and atmosphere has been amazing each time. This night (Thursday) was so special I had to send a review. Everything we ate was so good it was "the best thing I ate" with each meal I tried. We also had three appetizers and I would give them each a 10 out of 10. It seems anything you order was that way. My friend , Mark and I had vastly different meals and each of us were thrilled with what we ordered. Thank you for a fabulous time! read more

Overall the food, service, and atmosphere were top notch. We started with a cocktail, craft beer and the beet salad. I had the caramelized salmon and my husband had the seafood medley, all were tastefully seasoned and delicious. One regret is we were too full for dessert. read more

A store owner in downtown Ogunquit had recommended this place to my wife and I while we were in her shop. So, we visited on a Saturday evening before seeing a show at the Ogunquit Playhouse. The restaurant was located outside of town and away from a bit of the drama. Valet parking is highly recommended or you will have to park in a lot across the street for $15-$25. They do not take reservations and the place will get filled up fast. We began our meal with the salt and pepper calamari. Excellent. Tasty. Arrived temperature hot and seasoned to perfection. No need to add more seasoning. My wife ordered the cajun snapper which came with rice and corn. I ordered the Cioppino (Fisherman's stew) Excellent. Tasty. Broth had a nice little kick to it and there was plenty of seafood. Both portion sizes were very good. No room for dessert. Service was excellent and friendly. Prices were very competitive for the area and maybe a tad on the lower side. No problems parking or retrieving our vehicle from the valet. The storeowner did not steer us wrong. read more

Giving a 4.5 star for "this place".... located just outside of the main area of Ogunquit was amazing. I wish we had visited it earlier. They offer complimentary valet parking. Once you walk in you'll see a friendly bar with lots of people. The restaurant is big with window seating overlooking the main drag. We had a corner table. Only reason for 1/2 star deduction is that it was very dark in that corner, couldn't read menu and hard to see food. Service was outstanding. We had a pair of very friendly and knowledgeable servers. They gave us the 411 on the specials and always updates us on the fresh bread coming and our upcoming meals. A couple of us got the steak and lobster tail add on. The steak was cooked perfectly and it was a generous size. The tail was so good. I splurged and got the potatoes, omg so delicious. Seafood was represented at our group table and everyone enjoyed. The steak eaters also came out happy with full bellies. They didn't have blueberry pie so we did not partake in dessert. We will definitely come back when we are back in town. We left wishing we had come to hang at the bar. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. read more
