We went in to find out what "herbal elixirs" were... okay, and because I really wanted papaya salad, and couldn't wait for the male to take me tomorrow. Oh well! I don't like metal cups, and both our water and our thai iced teas came in them. Also, they seemed a bit small for a $3 thai iced tea, and, though it was very dericious, it had a LOT of ice in it. We got the mieng kahm, which is a snacktivity type appetizer that my sister and I were stoked to see since we normally have a hard time finding it. It is essentially some sort of big awesome leaf you wrap little bits of ginger, red onion, toasted coconut, chilies, peanut, lime, and some sort of crackalicious addictive sauce in. They did not disappoint. It was delicious, for $10. I would have been stoked had it been $8 but I think $10 was probably fair. We also got a side of sticky rice (we asked for brown, and I think that was the only brown rice they had, or maybe just lost in translation?) which was very good, even if the container was confusing. Plus we got the papaya salad which, while on the small side, was f'ing amazeballs. Super flavorful and tasty, with the right amount of kick. Unfortunately, they left the dried shrimp in even though we told them my sister was vegetarian so no shrimp, and she didn't notice because they're very small. So before she noticed she ate a couple and she's been, ah, in the bathroom a lot since then. I would say that warranted the minus star, that and the cups, though I like the location and was cutely decorated with attentive staff--- the prices were on the edge of too much for the small portions, and what if she had been allergic to shrimp? Pretty dangerous. But I'd go back and just be really, really clear. Our waitress wasn't super top English star number one, after all. Might have been our bad. read more

Mediocre food, poor service. Pros: They use sweet yellow mango rather than the usual green mango, which I consider an improvement, although if you're a stickler for "authentic" recipes it might not be. Cons: The prawn ceviche was not ceviche, it was raw shrimp--pure gray, not the slightest tinge of pink--served with a garnish. The ong choy vegetable side was very limp and came in a sickly sweet sauce; the Chinese broccoli vegetable side was slightly bitter and came in a very salty sauce, besides being the incorrect dish (we had ordered the green beans). The water was lukewarm. The server was unfriendly, didn't speak English very well, and did not offer to make any kind of adjustment to dishes when we inquired about ingredients we didn't want/would have liked to add. No one came by to check in with us about whether the food was satisfactory, and water was refilled only once. My parents complained of heartburn and stomach cramps afterward. Portion sizes were average. Ambience/decor was reasonable, nothing exciting but also not, you know, a grubby strip mall type of place. I miss having Thaiku in Ballard! That being said, the new location is great. We were lucky enough to get a seat outside on their patio at 7:30 on a Friday night! We ordered our first round of drinks and I didn't care for mine (radiant flower). However, the people sitting next to us at our picnic style table ordered the Yohito and it looked good so we commented and they actually let us try it- pretty cool, will def be ordering that next time. As for the food, we ordered our old favorite - the Mieng Kahm and it was fresh and delicious as well as Ba Me Hang, made to our exact spicy desire and Som Tahm Lao which was a green papaya salad with fish sauce. I miss the Fu Kon Wu and wish they were able to create a space like that at their new location. I will definitely visit again. read more

I always wanted to come here, because it looks so charming from the outside! My friend picked this spot for us to have dinner and I was so excited to finally go. The vibe in here is awesome, very welcoming and comfortable. The menu is also large with tons of food to pick from. We had the Pad See Ew (excuse my spelling), the Crying Tiger (steak served with a tasty dipping sauce) and the Shrimp skewers. The skewers came with this delicious green sauce that was the perfect balance of spice, citrus and heat. The servers were attentive and patient. We didn't feel rushed at all. They continually came and checked on us to see if we needed anything. They had a great cocktail list, as well, although I'm more of a wine drinker myself! The Syrah was very good. Absolutely delicious. Most authentic Thai I have had so far in Seattle. House made fish sauce lends a unique flavor to many of the dishes. Had the pork skewers, coconut soup (not on menu but they will make special for you), and pad seeiu. Plenty for 2, with leftovers. read more

I ate here earlier this week with my girlfriend. O was struck by the atmosphere - the restaurant is in a remodeled house, so there are few tables spaced very intimately. The menu was refreshingly diverse, and didn't include many of the staple Thai dishes. I had a dish of corn & carrots in a vinegar sauce which was delicious, while my date had the Phad Thai. Both were excellent. My one complaint is that the menu could use a few more vegetarian dishes. read more

The food was mediocre, service wasn't bad, but Mai Thaku had a great ambiance. We were seated outside, and my boyfriend commented that the decorations made him feel like he was back in Thailand. The appetizers were delicious, and I highly suggest the skewers. We got the gai satay and moo yaang, which both had good flavors. The entrees on the other hand, were disappointing to me. I ordered the goong ob woon sen, and the steamed prawns were over steamed. The noodles also had an herbal flavor to them, which I wasn't a fan of. The kaho soi was interesting though, with the coconut milk curry over noodles. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't that great either. Service was aslo pretty slow that night, but it also looked like there were only 2-3 servers. I feel like Mai Thaku is a good place to go during the hot summer when you only want to eat an appetizer or two while having a drink. I would not come back here for dinner. read more

I will admit, the intent was not to dine here with my friends one evening but to go to El Chupacabra next door. But when we noticed this cute, little Thai restaurant next door with a spacious outdoor seating area complete with Bamboo and smells of authentic Thai food wafting from inside, we just had to change plans! We each ordered Pahd See Iew and a Thai iced tea while sitting on the patio. Compared to other Pahd See Iews, I would say this one tasted the most authentic, fresh and wasn't greasy, which I appreciated. The portion was on the smaller side though - I was starving so was able to finish my plate and be completely stuffed but I prefer Thai food that has big enough portions for leftovers. I overall really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. What I'm deducting stars from, however, is how overpriced I found it to be. For a smaller portion of Pahd See Iew and a Thai iced tea, it cost me $18 with tip. Yikes! read more

Absolutely amazing Thai food! This is my local Thai restaurant so I'm really glad it's good. It's not quite your traditional Thai cuisine. The menu has dishes from traditional food found in street markets across Thailand. They still have American favorites like Pad Thai but they also have really delicious dishes like Gaeng Hung Lei. It's pork belly simmered in Northern Thai style spice curry with ginger, garlic, and roasted peanuts. It's my favorite dish on the menu! read more

I was hanging out at Greenlake with my family and we were craving Thai food. I searched on Yelp for the nearest Thai place with good reviews and this was it. The food was very mediocre, much worse than most Thai places I've been to. Also, the food was very overpriced for the quality and portion size. A small plate of pahd Thai was $12! I've had better pahd Thai for $8 with larger portions. The food was also excessively salty. If I reviewed this place based on overall value of the food and price, then I would give this place 1 stars. Since the service was decent, I'll give this place 2/5 stars. They need to lower the price of everything on their menu by at least 25% then this place may get 3/5 stars. read more

It's unassuming but the taste and smells automatically made me nostalgic and feel right at home (which is pretty hard to do). The service was great and the food was even better. I highly recommend the whole fish and their tom sum. It's been hard to get a more laotian style papaya salad but they just nailed it. The food isn't watered down and was nice and spicy. This is a perfect place for family style meals so you get to try a little bit of everything for an affordable price. I will certainly come again in the near future. read more

The menu is much more traditional than at most Thai restaurants in Seattle -- I only recognized phad thai and phad see yew, plus a few others, by name, though the other dishes still looked interesting! Today wasn't the day for experimentation though, so those are what we got. Did not disappoint. Really good. The one-star phad thai was spicier than we'd expected, but not so much so that we didn't finish it all! Good tea, which isn't always the case, and good service too (might have had something to do with our one-year-old -- did I mention the place is kid-friendly too?). Décor is cool -- lots of dark woods. Loved the stainless steel cups. The drinks looked good -- didn't have them for lunch, but maybe someday when we get a babysitter! Mango salad arrived with mango strips that were barely edible - the mango was clearly not ripe. tried biting a few times then just gave up and ate around them. Soup stock was bland with rice noodles that were stuck together. Service - we were standing by the door for a while before anyone approached us (no smiles or greetings) . Lastly there were 5 of us at the table. when I tried to order a cocktail I was asked to show ID but because I had an international drivers licence the server refused to order my drink claiming she cant accept it. There were 5 of us and she only asked for mine (not sure why I am 43 and while I am flattered I certainly do not look younger than 21) clearly if she was such a a stickler for the rules she would have asked the rest of the group for their ID but for some reason I was singled out. Break out of the Thai-American mold. Pros- outdoor space. Interesting and less "anglo-ed" dishes. Salads and green papaya options. Love the indoor street kitchen look. And cups and plates. Mieng Kahm is just plain fun to eat- wrap your fave flavors in an edible leaf and pop in our mouth. Go for it. Cons- skewers. These should be easy and likable. They were not. sauce good. Ingredient not good enough. Shredded fried trout topping for a salad was confusing. Fish? Breadcrumbs? Heavy? Light? Sort of like chittlings put through a shredder. We've been here as a regular now since the food always great and the service is outstanding!!! You will feel that you're in Thailand. Love the music they played.(old thai country music and oldies thai jazz and blue) For some reasons I think Yelp got it wrong about their business hours though. They never closed at 3pm to 4pm. I'm glad that we don't have to feel bad as we sat down and order food about 2.30pm and worrying that they will be closed for their break from 3pm to 4pm. So their business hours for weekends will be from 12pm to 10pm and for weekdays(mon through thu) will be from 4pm to 10pm. On friday I wasn't sure about the time of opening so you might give them a call. We each had Papaya Salad Amazing Amazing Amazing!!! The taste was just right The sweetness from palm sugar, the salty from fish sauce and the sour from fresh lime were great combination. If I have a chance to go back there again tomorrow I will!!! We also had Nam Tok Nuaer, Grilled pork skewer and Khao soi.... Well done and they did a great job. We're so glad that We're having real authentic Thai here in Seattle without asking. Quality Thai food for sure. Definitely beats the Americanized spots you find on every corner. The menu was a bit hard to understand at first (I have a white girl mindset) but by reading the flavor/ingredient combos it's easy to find delicious dishes. I recommend their Pad See Ew, Sticky Rice, & Papaya Salad for sure (nice & spicy). We attempted family style both times I visited, but you may be better off ordering a couple dishes for yourself. I've been hearing such amazing things about this place (from here and from when they were in Ballard) and wow did it not disappoint. The service is so great! BEST THAI FOOD IN SEATTLE - PERIOD How this place has 4/5 stars is beyond me, Yelp needs to change their platform so this restaurant can get the 10 stars it deserves!!!! Calling Seattle home for most of my life, I've had Thai food probably once or more per week. This literally blew every restaurant I've been to out of the water, it was like eating Thai food for the first time. I've never been to Thailand so I can speak to its authenticity, but I can speak to the depth of their flavor spectrum being something I've never experienced with Thai food before. I can't rave enough about the food, but it's rare to find a restaurant that also matches impeccable service and a beautiful ambiance. Their servers are extremely helpful, prompt, and very warm and welcoming. I think their decorations make you feel like they put thought and care into the whole experience of the customer. I love the decor here and their staff is nice. I got the Som Tum Thai and Pad Thai with Chicken. The papaya salad is the best I have ever had at a restaurant (almost as good as mom's papaya salad!), but their pad thai was mediocre. The pandemic has clearly been tough on restaurants but scrimping on ingredients is no way to attract and keep customers. Went to the restaurant on recommendation from friends but on this day the good chef may have called in sick eating the bad chef's food. The Pad Thai was mediocre and the beef dish (Gaeng Panang) had less beef than you'd find in a dick's burger. It had lots of sauce and jasmine rice but that tasted bad as well ($17.00). To be fair the sample is small (two dishes) but nonetheless we were not impressed, especially for the price we paid. read more

Their food is not your standard Thai food with pad thai and other pads. They have some cool Northern Thai dishes here - fun to try out. However, I think the prices are a bit higher than they should be, and the pork belly is cool but kind of fatty. The ambiance is cozy and warm (in a house), and the service is good though. read more

My wife and I like dining the last few years here as it is close to home and the food is fantastic! I'm very much hoping service get's a bit better, as it is hit or miss now. It seems the addition of Uber Eat's seem to put a strain on wait staff, often times letting tables wait over Uber drivers waiting for to-go orders. The last couple of times we didn't get part of our order, or the order is not quite right. This seems to happen more on weekends than any other time, Football Sunday seem to be the worse time. We're giving up on the restaurant, just hoping the service issues are straightened out. read more
