The seating arrangement is excellent, The manager CEO Thai is so sweet, he was sooo nice to us, actually we been here 3xs and our 2nd time we got here at closing time so Thai gave us a $40 gift card. The food is fresh, healthy, comforting and delicious. Seating is comfortable and no loud music. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. Everyone makes you feel right at home. I came here during the week we just moved to this area and we were missing our Thai place in our old residence. I was hoping on finding a new Thai place so we tried this place. I ordered the the beef pad Thai and the young lady that works there with her mom was super friendly and helpful. I was skeptical in trying their Thai lemon and the young lady asked to try it first and if I wanted more lemon she'd add it. It was good and loved that she helped me with that. The food was good it's not at all greasy, the noodles were fresh and the bean sprouts were nice and crunchy. I'm happy to say we found our new Thai place. The cutest little Thai restaurant with a dog friendly patio. The ambience is friendly. The patio heater by our table didn't work but we were comfortable. Our food came in a tad late because there was a problem with the printer of the order. Staff was very apologetic. That's all we need sometimes. Came in randomly on a friday night around 7ish for dinner. Was craving chicken... ordered Thai BBQ Chicken and my fiancé ordered jungle curry. Came out about 15 mins later and i was starving. Digged into my drumstick and it was COLD! Not even a little cold... the chicken bone was FROZEN. I called the waitress over and told her to touch it... she said sorry (not her fault... chefs fault) and she told me she will take it back. It's always a pleasant visiting Thai Thyme, from the first time we tried till the last (almost 4-5 visits) we always enjoyed. The owner always greet us with smiles and chat with us like we are family ... the dishes are authentically twisted with a touch of love and the last Christmas visit was absolutely a surprise where vegan Mango Puddings on the house, made with love, were presented to us. Located in downtown Monrovia there is plenty of public parking. Came here on a Sunday for lunch and it was pretty empty. Service was super friendly and fast. I was seated, served, and left within 30 minutes. The papaya salad is missing the element of funkiness but still refreshing... There's no dried shrimp or crab or salted fish like other places so it seems a bit inauthentic. (when I was in Thailand multiple people I bought papaya salad from told me there's usually this element of seafood in papaya salad. It just depends on the region for which type you'll get). They do have a salted duck egg papaya salad so maybe that one is better? The combo fried rice is delicious but a bit expensive at $20 compared to the other items we ordered which were 15ish dollars. The portion for the pad see ew seemed small and it was sweeter than most other places. I like that they bring the little chili tray to you instead of leaving it at the table. I think it helps keep things clean and it looks like they keep it in the refrigerator to keep things fresh. Overall I would come back but probably to try other items on the menu. read more

Very good Thai place. I am usually a big fan of Thai food because they can be overly sweet and sour. Thai Thyme delight us with every dish they brought out. My husband and I live in the north valley, but we were picking up a car-less out of town friend on the east side of Pasadena. Since I am gluten-free and she is a vegetarian, I wanted to find something where both of us would have several safe options. I pored over menus because that is what I do for fun, lol. Enter Thai Thyme! It was very easy to order vegetarian dishes, and the server was knowledgeable about how much of the menu was gluten-free. We sat outside on the quiet and cute patio. The chef-owner came out to talk to us a couple times--he was very personable and nice. All of us really enjoyed our meals: I had drunken noodles gluten-free, my husband had a pineapple curry with pork and sticky rice (rice comes separately), and our friend had a sautéed veggie dish in a brown sauce (but I don't remember exactly what it was). The only minor complaint I had is that because my dish probably had a sauce taken out of the recipe so it could be gluten-free, it could have used a bit more salt. But I was very happy with the level of spice, the noodles were well-cooked, and the veggies were firm and flavorful. I'm not sure when we'll have occasion to head back, but it's definitely staying on my list of Pasadena-area restaurants! read more

Had an awesome lunch at Thai Thyme! Not only is their patio area pup friendly, it's also such a beautiful setting! The pup enjoyed his little photo shoot by the wall...as for me, I tried 2 of their lunch specials (I couldn't decide on one), the Thai omelet and the pad kee mao with chicken. Mom lives in Duarte and I was down (from Alaska) to help her with some things. Mom and I originally sat outside on the back patio (mid March) because the sun was still there. As soon as the sun went away, it got pretty chilly. We were moved inside right away with no bad attitude, maybe because the gentleman that had our original table was the manager? The menu is pretty big. I saw what I wanted right away but Mom wasn't so sure. The man who seated us inside recommended a dish to Mom and she went for it. My dish was excellent!
