Ordered ahead for to go. The approximate wait time was 30 min and I showed up pretty much 30 min after I called in. When I walked in, there was no one to be found that the front desk. It probably took around 5-10 minutes to get someone's attention and they found someone else to help me out. Now going to the food, I got the pad see iw with chicken. I appreciate how much chicken they put into the dish. The flavor overall of the dish was pretty sweet green so by the end, I was getting tired of the taste. It was also a tad too oily for my liking. My family and I were seated at a big round table towards the front of the restaurant. My biggest regret is not taking pictures of what we ate! However, we ordered the staples in our family - pad thai, pad kee mao, green curry, pineapple fried rice, and spicy seafood soup. Great thai spot in Woodbridge. First off, the host is the nicest lady ever and thanks you 1000 times before you even place your order. Their prices are standard with Irvine, but definitely a little on the pricey side. The good thing is that their portions are large and I almost always have leftovers for a second meal. I've ordered their Pad See Ew, Pad Thai and Panang Curry. Would recommend all of them. If you're really into health, you may think the Pad See Ew and Pad Thai are too oily but a little bit of grease is what makes these foods super authentic! Cute hole in a wall place with good Thai food for a huge portion~ Thai Kitchen is located in a small mall with other eateries. Restaurant is small with couple of table seatings indoor. Menu is pretty typical of what you see at Thai places. Unfortunately this place does not offer lunch deals so the dishes were a little expensive for lunch. I got the pad kee mao with chicken ($15). Service is super fast here, food came out within 10 min! The noodles were a little greasy, but it was spicy (mild level), had tender chicken and veggies. Portion is huge so it's def 2-3 meals worth for me. I tried my coworkers pineapple fried rice and yellow curry and both were delicious, the pineapple fried rice had nutty and fruity flavor, could have had more cashews though. The yellow curry was mild and had plenty of chicken. We also split the mango sticky rice, wasn't too sweet and had creaminess from coconut with fresh mango topping. So the funny thing about ordering online with a non-native English speaker is miscommunication here. And of course they well upcharge where they can. I asked if they had a certain dish and they said course and charged me for all the meats without asking me what meat I wanted. Lesson learned. What's funny about this is this happens now with masks. The pad see ew was short of broccoli and the panang had a TON of bell peppers which I guess if you're a fan of bell peppers then yes it's good. Just was not expecting so much of that one ingredient. I love this place! I have only ever called in my order and picked up to-go, so I can't speak to the dine in experience. However, every time I've gone in I've been helped by the same lovely woman who I can only assume is the manager or owner. She's always so kind and personable, one time she complimented my tattoos and this last time she started a conversation about my sweatshirt. The prices are average for thai food in this area, and I always enjoy the food. Can confirm the yellow curry and pad see ew are delicious! Out first choice off Jeffrey only served takeout so we were diverted to this location off Barranca. We ordered chicken Sate, Pad Thai and Mongolian beef served over crispy noodle. I was surprised to find out the entrees of this price do not come with Rice. We noticed the charge on the bill. First off our daughter loved the Sate, but the peanut sauces looked to be microwaved peanut butter and coconut milk. It didn't flow like a sauce, we had to spread the peanut sauce like butter over the skewers The pad Thai was decent, very lean on the shrimp and chicken pieces but tasted good, but nothing to be excited about. The problem was with the Mongolian beef. We were torn between Mongolian beef served over crispy noodle or garlic beef served over lettuce. We went with the Mongolian beef and it lacked the classic wok fried flavors with scallions, the beef strips were in a brown sauce lean of any green onion but with abundant straw mushrooms to make up for what was missing!!! It was not served over crispy fried noodle and it was completely a different entree than what was described in the menu. When I asked the host/waitress what happened to the crispy fried noodle she merely laughed and said sorry we don't have that anymore. I asked why was it still described as such if they no longer follow that recipe? She simply giggled more and smiled and walked off, rather than offer to change the item. The Bathroom has a perpetual out of order sign and the prices have all exceeded the value when you consider flavor and satisfaction. I'm sure this place was great in the late 90s. Best Tom Yum I have had so far!!! The place felt very homey and the staff were all friendly. Service was very fast (I came in on a weekday around 2 pm so not super busy). They gave me water and utensils upon sitting. Food came at around 10-15 min and served on a hot silver soup pot. The soup was very aromatic and the aftertaste was surprising at first because it was more sweet/aromatic vs other tom yum I've had but it was surprising in a very delicious way! I would've eanted to eat mango sticky rice but I had no room left LOL. I also got their thai tea which was really good also for the price of less than 4 bucks! This is a fine Thai restaurant in the center of Irvine. The staff here is not just friendly and hardworking, but they are gracious, something you don't experience at too many places anymore. Even if I was not a huge fan of the food (and I am!) the welcoming atmosphere alone would be reason to dine here. My favorite here is the Tom Kha Kai, coconut soup with chicken. If it were available, I'd drink their soup as a tea...so, so delicious. The Pineapple Fried Rice, the Cashew Nut Chicken, the Pad Thai and the Green Curry with Chicken are also excellent. Papaya salad medium spice is refreshing crunchy starter with some kick (maybe mild if you're bad with spice). Pineapple fried rice is pretty good also. Good start. First time try at the That Kitchen on Barranca. Ordered dinner at 3:30 for pickup at 5pm. Confused though bc I saw a message they were temporarily closed but I called anyway to see if they were open. Ordered the veggie egg rolls, pad Thai chicken, red curry chicken (wanted a taste of their curry), chicken satay and steamed rice. First impression always goes to the pad Thai. Good tasting, good flavor, noodles weren't stuck together. The red curry chicken on top of the steamed rice was also good....went back for seconds. Chicken satay was tender but I would have liked a stronger peanut sauce (I've had much better). Egg rolls were ok...could have had more filling bc it was a bit mushy inside. Overall a good order for our first time. Will have to try some of the other dishes now. read more
