My bf and I love coming here for their Thai Basil Chicken/Pad Krapow! They always give a generous portion and it's the best I've had from various Thai places in Oc. Their Thai tea is always delicious as well! All of their items are well priced for the amount of food as well. Pad See Ewe with tofu or shrimp or beef is another option we get from here often.
TDLR: It's food court Chinese food. Don't expect anything amazing and just expect to be fed. Mixed chow mien: Inconsistent noodle texture, poor mix on the wood as I've had bites of noodle that look anemic compared to others, and you immediately know that spot just missed the soy sauce. The proteins and vegetables were fine. Ambiance: It's a food court. Nothing too different from what we see all over the world. Service: The expectations here are low given the store front looked like they were out of business. A cashier bell and a note that says to ring it are the only 2 things from convincing people that the place is closed. The lady who rang me up was nice. Simple transaction, nothing too different from the norm.
1st time trying this place. My co worker suggested we order from here and he can pick up. Since they are only 5 minutes away from our office. He suggested Pad Thai, and I got the spicy beef pad Thai. Price wise its very cheap. In Irvine area you wont find a total $12 lunch option. The portion was even good for 2 people. But to be honest not a very healthy option. It was very greasy. But tasted good of course. Tough to say if I ever get food from them.
I got the yellow curry and the pad Thai. The curry itself tastes bad and the chicken is poor quality. Couldn't even finish the food
Apple Pay accepted Portions, veggies, meat, noodle are very generous with even strong spicy taste (medium). This is the first place out of hundreds restaurants that offer extreme amount of veggies in pad see ewe it's worth a Shot on just see how much veggies they throw. Taste and flavor as well as spiciness are compared to NONE, even medium spicy means extra spicy in other restaurant. This is like for those who like to feel "kick" in lunch time so you are ready to get out of boredom of morning routing. Take my words, try it. Make sure to order water/drink because you will need it.
very solid pad thai! i got the spiciest level which was soo good. not as sour as some others i've had but otherwise very good! chicken was good & portion size made it even more worth the price. the cream cheese wontons were alright but tasted good with their sauce. would definitely come again! service was fast (less than 10 min & she was very nice)

Lots of times, they don't even pick up the phone or sometimes it's deserted out in front of the cashier...so I've learned not to have too much expectations...as long as they meet my food expectations. And they certainly meet those expectations. For a reasonable cost, their dishes come with at least 2 portions worth of food. Both their pad thai and pad see ew are pretty good, and both beef and tofu have been past ordered items that did not disappoint. You can also opt for a spicy option which is a nice change once in a while. Their thai tea is probably one of my favorites in the area, so be sure to try that too if you're tuning in. In short, don't come here looking for service or quality customer attention. It seems like most of their negative reviews stem from those issues. Instead, take it at its face value, and I think this place will pleasantly surprise you.

Super cheap and fast Chinese/Thai takeout food located in a food hall in the corner of a plaza. Portions are pretty big so one order can really feed two people. The owner(very nice and accommodating) took my order and it only took 5 minutes to come out. I was expecting too much but my beef chow mien was delicious and flavorful. Plenty of tables and parking in this plaza too. Definitely will come back! read more

I got a pad Thai chicken , pretty good as I remembered it. only wish had a little bid more sauce but that might be just self preference. Portions was good, standard. Also got a pad se ewe beef and if was also good BUT had to give 3 stars because when I got home find out the portion was only like 1/2 a container. @$13.99 it was not enough compare to price. I had it before but the size should be decent but I was a little disappointed. The lady there was pretty nice though. read more

I only order the sticky mango since I had lunch next door I was so excited to have it but wasn't good at all so disappointing, rice was regular they just put a thick sauce on top the mango was ripe and super sweet was the only good the rice was inedible and I have had tons of it read more

I've ate at the Main St. Plaza before, but this is the first time ordering from this place. I could have sworn the counter person yelled, "Mom, mild chix pad" after taking my order. Total mom & pop shop. Everything looks clean. Canned soda offered to drink. Even though there are zero pre-made pans of food here when you walk into the stall (which most of the time is a good thing), the food came out of the kitchen quick. By looking at the photo, you can see their food is not too sexy, but it's legit pad Thai. The chicken was not over cooked, the sauce was on point, and overall the dish tasted fresh. I appreciated the ratio of noodles to vegetables because I was looking for something more comforting for lunch than a sandwich on this cold winter day. read more

A hidden gem in a food court. It be only tried the Thai food items and i would say it's not the most authentic, but it's legit enough to satisfy your Thai cravings! Also the value of this place is huge. Every order is enough to feed two! read more

What a find this place is. It's tucked away in the corner of a shopping center in a mini food court of various types of foods. This place really surprised me their orange chicken and delicious beef with string bean. The nice lady that helped me pour a little green curry on my fried rice which made my day. A gem is to be found inside a food court on Main St. serving up delicious made-to-order Thai food for about $8 per dish. Not to overlook the array of Chinese offerings they have that are already pre-made and on display, Thai cuisine just reigns supreme to me and I came here for that reason alone. They have photos of their Thai menu along the wall which can be helpful if indecisive. Pay as you order and your name will be called when the food is ready. Unless of course if you're going for their Chinese fast food. PAD SEE EEW with fried tofu was served steaming hot in a styro container. Spice level is your call so I made mine medium and thankful that I did instead of going spicy. It had a very good kick, enough that I was still able to enjoy my meal. If you're looking for comfort food then you're in luck because this flat noodle dish had a delicious sweet soy seasoning and just the right presence of grease that tied everything together. Getting this with beef or chicken are your other options. With a serving that's generous as this, you could get away with sharing between two people with normal appetites. For those who know me, clearly, sharing one dish with a friend was not a good idea. BASIL CHICKEN with fried egg over rice was the 2nd dish we ordered. It's ground chicken cooked with basil, peppers, and chili. This dish is the perfect example of why I love Thai food so much. It has spice, flavor, and comfort all in one plate. The fried egg could've been better as I like the yolk to be runny but I can overlook that bit as I enjoyed everything else. Medium spice level was spot on, too. I highly recommend. Unsure if they serve mango sticky rice but I would love to get that if they do and try their pad thai next time. What a wonderful addition to my lunch rotation! read more

Talk about a hole in the walls of other holes in many walls! To be 100% honest...walking up to the counter, I was not going to order from the out-dated pix of their food. The Thai & Chinese "TO-GO" selections that seemed to be sitting under the heat lamps for some time DID NOT look appealing to my hungry tummy or eyes. I did tell my friend that I will check out the rest of the Food Court before even considering to place an order with them. But my friend insisted that I will be impress so I just had to swallow and cover my eyes as what you see is DEF NOT what you get. He was good at convincing me so I went for it. I ordered the safest dish possible...."CHICKEN FRIED RICE - MEDIUM SPICY". Dumb rolls please....after about 8 minutes of waiting, the girl at the counter yelled out to the crowd, "Chicken Fried Rice Done!" Here we go: 01. Chicken Fried Rice ($6.95) - 4 Stars Chicken, Eggs, Carrots, Onions, Chili Flakes - Wow....there were a lot of Chicken breast pieces. Most I've ever seen in a plate of food anywhere. The fried rice had that wonderful "Char" smell only from a wok that has put in it's time. I knew their wok was used all the time. The flavors were intense and the rice was SMOKING STEAMING HOT for 30 minutes. I really liked my dish. I asked for Medium and I can eat spicy stuff but their medium was probably more on the HOT side to most people. So if HOT is not your thing, I suggest you take it down a notch. The portion was so big, I couldn't finish it. 02. Chicken Pad See Ewe ($6.99) - 4.5 Stars Chicken, Carrots, Brocolli, Bok Choy, FAT Noodles - For the 1st time in such a long long time, many Thai restaurants just don't serve their Pad See Ewe with the FAT noodles anymore. The minute my friend open up his container, I was blown away. Having a lot of Thai friends, the taste, color and the noodles makes the difference. This place got it RIGHT. Pretty soon during our lunch I was eating his too. It was so good. I was so excited to finally find authentic Thai food at the most unexpected place of all places....in IRVINE! You gotta try this place to see what I'm talking about. For all the folks that knows Authentic Thai food...check it out. Disclaimer - Just ignore the pix on their walls and DON'T look down at their food selections and you'll be A-OK. PARKING - Can be crowded as it seems all of the surrounding office buildings comes here for lunch since the plaza houses a food court. LOCATION - on Main Street just off of Jamboree, The counter is located just ahead as you walk into the Food Court. SERVICE - What can you expect from a walk up counter but the girls were nice. TIP #1 - DO NOT drink the water from the pitcher. I did and it doesn't come with ice at all plus it kinda smelled funny. Buy a drink as I did after taking the 1st sip. YUCKY.... TIP #2 - Don't recommend coming in a large group as you might not all be sitting together. You might need to come early to put tables together. Also, it's HOT sitting inside during a HOT day like today. The doors kept opening and closing that the cool air was just going outside. You won't feel the A/C if they even have it on. Well, that's all folks...I know I'll be coming back! I'm already craving the Pad See Ewe. Yummy!!! read more

I'm always craving pad thai, but never knew of any good places in Irvine. For the last few years I resorted to buying boxed pad thai from Trader Joe's, but it definitely wasn't the same! One of my classmates brought pad thai to a club meeting, and it was so good that I had to ask where she got it. She told me about this little place and knowing how good their pad thai is, the next time I didn't know what to eat for dinner, I headed over here. I missed it the first time I drove by because I was looking for a restaurant and didn't realize it was in the food court. For $7 you get a huge to-go box of chicken pad thai that is enough for two. The chicken and noodles are tender, and the crunchy peanuts on the side add a nice crunch. The blend of seasonings is also perfectly sweet, but spicy. I once made the mistake of ordering "medium" spice, but it was so spicy it was almost painful to eat. I would definitely recommend getting it "mild." I have and definitely will be back. I don't know about their other food, but their pad thai always hits the spot and is truly authentic and convenient. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes for my order. read more

YOU MUST GET THE CHICKEN PAD THAI! I crave the pad thai here. It's so GOOOD! Thai and Chinese Express is situated in a little food court in a business plaza. I haven't tried any of the other things on the menu here, but the Chicken Pad Thai is exceptional. I always get it Spicy and it's pretty spicy. Just the way I like it :] For only $7.50, you get a ginormous amount of pad thai. It fills a large square styrofoam container filled to the brim. Very worth it! I love it! You can definitely feed 2 people or make it into 2 meals with the amount of food they give you. read more

To keep it short and sweet: tasty, quick and affordable. I've been looking for a few good Thai places around the area that wouldn't hurt my wallet too much as a college student, and this place popped up in my search. It seems to be promising, delivering your classic Thai and Chinese noodle dishes, with some veggies and curries as well. The place is located in a little strip mall plaza, and is inside of a mini food court in the corner of the plaza. I ordered over phone and picked up in person. I ordered the Veggie Tofu Pad Thai without egg and with medium spice and it was just what I expected. Nothing life-changing but definitely cures the craving. I also added in a Thai Iced Coffee and my entire meal came up to just under $10. For a box full of Pad Thai that can last 3 or so meals, and a strong, rich and bitter Thai Iced Coffee (think Vietnamese Iced Coffee--are they similar?), it was worth my $10 considering this will last me a while. I was debating on ordering the Shrimp Pad Thai and/or the Curries since they seem promising as well (maybe another time). But, this is a convenient, local, quick and affordable stop playing up your Thai/Chinese food cravings. Won't crave unless I want a quick fix. read more
