We like coming here because the menu is pretty extensive to offer something for everyone at a reasonable price. In my family, there are those who like poke, those who like ramen, or sushi. It's a very down-to-earth kind of place with lots of turn over, so expect to wait in line but it will go fast. This is a very family-oriented place so you'll see multi-generational families, families with little kids, and sometimes just friends hanging out. I found this restaurant while Looking for a place to have lunch after playing tennis league nearby. The first thing I noticed as I walked in was seeing a large sriracha sauce bottle( the original one) on every table. Thought this was my kind of place to eat. I had to order at the front first before seating. The menu was very extensive and really liked to try a few things but it was too much to eat by myself so just decided you try two items, salmon skin salad and a sushi platter. The salmon salad was bigger than I expected and it was very good. The fish on the sushi was fresh but had a little too much rice for my liking. I will get a sashimi plate the next time. I tried the House fried rice. I wasn't impressed initially, however I had some form leftovers the next day and put Teriyaki sauce on it, and oh man that was the ticket. Really, really good. This is a very nice casual style eatery that offers a Hawaiian style food menu. You can get things like tempura and katsu, and they serve these items with potato salad, orange slices, green salad, rice, etc. They have Hawaiian juices, like POG and others as well. The service is good, they give you a number, then bring food to your table. The interior is very clean, well lit, and comfortable. My wife ate here years ago and raved about how much food you can get for little money... Naturally my inner dialogue went something like, "What!? Great sushi for a bargain? We need to go there now!" We headed over for dinner around 1800 (6pm). I guess some things changed over the five years she last visited. Prices seemed to be on par with every sushi restaurant we've ate at recently. Although the food was good, it wasn't anything to rave about. They have the typical variety menu items for sushi, chicken, beef, gyoza, etc. They have a few special rolls too. Teri Cafe occupies the end unit of a strip mall and has a larger outdoor seating area next to the parking lot. The inside has a lot more seating than the patio, both areas have there pros and cons. The cafe has a familiar flow. Signs posted at the entrance instruct new comers to order first, receive a number, and then get a table. Pretty typical for a Cafe. Food comes out quick and tastes good. Servers make rounds to ensure you don't need extra napkins, drinks, etc. People seem to love this place, and we must have just beat the dinner rush. By the time we left there was a line out the door. Why three stars? Price is comparable to many of the sushi restaurants in our area that are cleaner and offer a better dining experience. For the simple fact that they are a cafe (vice a restaurant), they are serving a lot of people quickly; inevitably this place has messy tables, dirty floors due to higher traffic, and a rushed feel/vibe. The food is good, borderline OK, definitely nothing to rave about. To sum it all up, the three stars are reflecting our dining experience to the price we paid to eat here. I was in the area and had been here before. I was just about done running my errands and wanted to order dinner to take home. So, I got on the phone and placed an order for the #5 (beef teriyaki and shrimp plate), the Tanuki Udon and a rainbow roll. I was told that all would be ready in about 15 minutes. The do have a text notification system, so I went in once the order was ready-that's convenient. It was busy, as usual but the line to pay moved fast. I've always really liked this location better than the El Camino spot because of the patio-it's a good spot! Anyway, 20 minutes later at home, the food was still pretty warm after the ride home. It was nice that they separated the broth and noodles and had the teriyaki sauce on the side. Everything was pretty tasty! My favorite was the ginger salad dressing, so yum! This place is a hidden gem. We ate lunch here and glad we did. There is a variety of dishes to order from. I ordered the chicken fried rice. This is now my top 2 chicken fried rice restaurants to eat. The fried rice was cooked perfectly with vegetables, and the chicken was juicy and not dry. I finished my entire plate. My friend had a vegi bowl . She enjoyed her meal too. The customer service was good, and the dining room theme was a little Hawaiian to it. I overall give 4 stars to Teri Cafe. You know what has been consistently good here? Their beef udon! Yes, it's so delicious that every time I came here that's what I ordered, and I've been here numerous times with my family. They used thin slices of fatty beef, possible beef belly slices? in the udon, and they're so savory. The other dish I like was their teriyaki chicken plate with California rolls. Their portions were pretty big and you won't walk out feeling hungry. We tried some other stuff too and it's ok, so these are the items we stick to almost every time we come here. That's why I wouldn't rate this place 5 stars. You kinda have to know what to order. I like their outdoor seating, but their chairs tend to be quite low compared to their table height, yes that's the stuff that I remember lol. Service was friendly and quick most of the time. I really love this place, I've been coming here for the last 10 years. Although their prices have gone up (as has everywhere else) I can always rely on this place for a good meal that's fairly priced. The ambiance is really family friendly and welcoming, and there's indoor and outdoor seating for if you have pets. I love the beef udon, chicken teriyaki, and their banzai ramen. We go here quite often with family and friends & order a ton of food as prices are reasonable, food is wonderful, service is great (Walter is THE best) and we also love leftovers! We were 3 people with 2 at home, for whom we got take out. Ordered the perfectly fried gyoza, side tempura (which has 2 shrimp, green beans, sweet potato, zucchini), inari sushi, edamame and a beef/chicken teriyaki plate (doubled both meats, cus grandsons is 19) which comes with miso soup, green salad with miso dressing, potato salad and rice). Also a salmon plate that had a really good portion of perfectly cooked salmon and all the same sides as the plate above. I ordered the sashimi bowl and requested only salmon ($2 more) and brown rice (also $2 more). Since the brown rice is warm, it came on a plate with beautifully arranged avocado and the sashimi was presented like they were flower buds - damn, should have taken a picture!! Everything was excellent and I'll say it again... Walter is THE best. He makes sure that you have everything you need and comes back to check to make sure you have a great experience. We've tried most everything on their menu over the years and you have to try this place. I love their Banzai Ramen on cold days - super satisfying filled with grilled veggies and chicken. Met with a friend, arrived around 6 PM. Dinner rush was slow, we were able to order quickly and be seated. Restaurant is practicing social distancing. We were able to take her mask off once we sat down. Our food came out in less than 10 minutes. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Has great music playing. The beef Yakisoba was really good. I didn't notice that some of my beef had a lot of fat on it though. Still tasty, won't stop me from coming back. The mango mochi is absolutely delicious! I was out running errands and decided to stop in for a quick sit down dinner. Arrived around 445pm , thankfully no line. The manner to order is approaching the counter first for the cashier to take your order. I imagine if there was a line it would be extremely time consuming and not convenient I say this because the menu which is hanging above the cashier counter is extensive. I had a difficult time making up my mind. I loved that they offered several noodle choices from udon to ramen to yakisoba. Different variations within those groups. It took me about 3-4 minutes to decide. I kept peering behind me to make sure I wasn't holding back another customer. I ordered the Mini chicken teriyaki bowl and a California roll. I noticed they had Pepsi products so I asked for water. The cashier asked me if I wanted lemon in my water. I was taken aback and said yes I would love that. She gave me a number and advised I could sit anywhere and put my number up on the table and the servers will bring my order. I paid with a credit card. Their merchant services credit card machine asks you if you want to tip and gives you choices 15% 20 % etc. this annoys me to no end!! I believe in tipping AFTER your meal. Not before and it also places you in an awkward position. I wonder now if my excellent service was due to the tip or if I would have received it anyway. I sat down and was immediately greeted by a server with my iced water with the most nicely sliced lemons you could imagine and silverware (fork n napkins) . Two minutes go by and my sushi arrives. Everything I needed was provided for me without even asking. Ginger wasabi little dipping bowl and chopsticks. I had low expectations regarding the sushi. Usually semi fast food sushi is slapped haphazardly together Once I saw it I was impressed The way it was assembled was perfect. The avocado and Krab filling generous. The ratio of rice and sushi was perfect. I felt like someone out a lot of care in making sure the sushi pieces were done in a wholesome manner. The texture was fresh too. I thought for sure since it came out so fast that it would have that "I've been sitting out a little dry texture ". But noooo ! It was fresh ! The teriyaki chicken bowl was okay. I'm not crazy about fatty or chicken pieces with cartilage. But I did get a few good bites of juicy chicken meat and it hit the spot. The rice was high quality and the veggies fresh and cooked perfectly. I also enjoyed the dinning room. The restaurant is perched on the side of a hill overlooking Oceanside and Carlsbad. 78 freeway and surrounding areas south of the 78. It's a great view. Especially knowing you're avoiding the rush hour happening below eating a relaxing good meal. I would have given it 5 stars but had the restaurant avoided the put the customer on the spot tipping and the chicken piece have areas that I couldn't eat. I'm sure though I could have paid extra and asked for a chicken breast or a more tender cutlet. I plan to return when I have more time to enjoy the ramen and maybe a grilled salmon plates. Chill atmosphere with friendly environment and super nice staff. You pay for your food once you enter into the door and then take your table with a number.. Food comes out really fast and fresh. The establishment was really clean and had a pleasant vibe. Food presentation was large portions and definitely yummy. We had the items listed in pics as well as the California sushi roll and they make it with an imitation crab which was still really good as we as a family, don't eat certain shellfish. I would highly recommend this location in Oceanside and think that who love noodles and rice would enjoy the food. Bathrooms were clean as well so that's always a plus . There is also a place where you can sit outside to eat on the patio that has heater stands and lights and makes for a great date night vibe. It's a counter service, so you order at the front after you walk in, then seat yourself in the dining area and your food is brought out to you. There are several workers so you're always checked on, making sure you get refills, and our order came out quickly. We were lucky and got here at 12:30pm on a Saturday and surprisingly no line! Shortly after we were seated, many more people came in. However the restaurant has lots of seating areas so the wait to order shouldn't take too long. We ordered 3 plates and a bowl, 1 entree per person. I got the chicken teriyaki and fried shrimp plate, so yummy. All of us finished our food! I will definitely be coming back. read more

Our family has been to this Teri Cafe many tines. We're creatures of habit when we go here because we know what we like. Tonight we got the D1 dinner special and upgraded to breast meat (extra charge). For me, the thigh meat they use is typically a little too fatty, but such is the nature of thigh meat. We also picked up 1 extra California roll and an order of chicken curry fried rice. 3 of us shared this for dinner and there was more them enough food.
