The place wasn't too busy but had decent reviews, so we decided to give it a try (for the win!). They were able to accommodate our large group with seating, which was really appreciated. Once we sat down and placed our orders, things initially seemed fine. But then the service slipped. When I asked for water, they only brought out three cups, just for the kids. We had to ask multiple times before my wife and I finally got ours. Most of the food arrived, but my eldest daughter's meal was completely missing. After we inquired, it took another 15 minutes for it to come out. It really felt like they had forgotten half our order. The fried rice and broth arrived even later. On the positive side, the food tasted fresh and was genuinely good overall. What really stood out negatively, though, was the staff's response every time we said "thank you." Instead of "you're welcome" or "no problem," it was always just "Yep!" It came across as dismissive and disrespectful. While the food was solid, the service and basic human interaction need real improvement. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll probably look for other options. read more

Small family run shop with huge menu and fast service. We got the spicy pork and chicken ramens, which were both good, but the chicken texture was a bit rubbery. I couldn't tell if it was boiled or cooked on the flat top that gave it that springy texture. The spam masubi and chicken karage were kind of dry, but overall this place satisfied our ramen craving. I swung by during off peak lunch hours during a sleepy weekday. Service was prompt albeit with an attitude. Parking was free and ample. The place is decorated like a Japanese themed tavern. I was surprised by the kind of vegetable/ insoluble fiber toppings they offered for their ramen. I always like ordering extra vegetable toppings for better digestion and long-term satiation. This place offered peeled and boiled bok choy. Definitely not something a so called authentic Japanese ramen shop typically offers as that's really something more of a staple in Chinese or Korean noodle shops. Now the food itself looked very visually appealing but I was disappointed by the use of other unconventional ramen toppings such as peanuts. The broth was watery and wasn't very flavorful. The chashu itself was tough and overcooked. I wouldn't have used that particular cut of meat for chashu. It just doesn't have the right mouthfeel for it no matter how low and slow you cook them. Lastly, as I finished my meal in less than 10 bites or so. I couldn't help but to feel like I got what I paid for. It was a lunch time menu item with less to pay for and I guess that also came with lunchtime menu portions or less to eat in a bowl. This spot was down the road apiece from an Airbnb we were staying at. We decided on Ramen and found this on Yelp, (of course). Nicely designed and decorated restaurant very cozy. Greeted with a warm and welcoming smile, we sat and were quickly attended to. My spouse and I ordered our meal with some direction from a friend. I must say Superior. Super fresh and flavorful. Paid a visit here for dinner. Great ambience with the themed decor, attentive server and plenty of room inside for dining in. EVERYTHING we ordered was delicious! We started off with the vegetable egg rolls, fried tofu and pork cutlet. All three starters laid a perfect foundation for my spicy chicken ramen; you can choose between thick and thin noodles. The spicy-ness to it was great but I opted for more heat with hot sauce and chili oil. In the end, I had room for a little more food and got the Takoyaki (my favorite!) to top everything off. Bought a takeout order of the Tengu Tonkotsu Ramen from their lunch menu and paid $2.50 extra to add an egg to it. It ended up only $0.50 cheaper than a regular order which comes with the egg. The restaurant is kind of small and cute, with a couple of small tables outside. Service was really quick, I got the takeout in about five minutes. My kids and I was shopping on a Sunday, 12/29 and decided to try this ramen place. We were very pleased overall and shared the items that you saw on the pictures. They had one waitress but she was able to manage the small place. The Ramen came out quickly and the curry bowl was last. Very flavorful and the curry was even in the right spice level for my kids since I'm a wimp with the spicy stuff. Seriously good, legit ramen with good and fast service. We had the tempura udon, spicy pork ramen, dumplings and edamame. All excellent. This is a very casual small restaurant in a strip mall that is always crowded (always!). If you come at peak times you might have a wait but what stood out is how attentive the staff is and they work hard to get you seated. Get the dumplings for sure- I think every single person there ordered them including us, they are tasty and made well. This is fresh food from a family run business. Big selection on the menu with pictures to help. Only wish they explained a few of the Japanese terms and ingredients as that is not always clear and you can't figure it out from the picture. I've been to Japan a few times and this ramen/udon made me feel like I was back there- mostly because of how fresh it is and the fact that the broth was savory and not salty. They have Japanese music playing and cute decor- love the large photos on the walls. This won't break the bank either - things are priced well and you get big servings for your money. I ordered the chicken ramen to go which was packaged nicely so that the ingredients stay on top of the broth until you're ready to mix them in. The broth was a perfect balance of savory and not too salty. It had a complex depth of flavor that shows it was simmered over time. The toppings were fresh, and appropriately portioned for the noodles. The two egg halves were cooked perfectly with softened yolks and firm whites. The ambiance was pretty casual and the workers were super helpful and quick with the service. My friend got the plain Udon and I ordered the Tengu Tonkatsu Ramen and we both shared the Cheese Egg Rolls and Gyoza and those were not bad at all. We had to run to a store located nearby! It was a little past 10:30 and my daughter who saw a ramen shop near by said she had to try here. She loved ramen! They were so nice to serve us early as they open from 11-9:30 pm. The ambiance is Japanese decor. Makes you feel like you're in Japan, we just got back and it makes us miss Japan! We had the spicy miso ramen, fried chicken curry, pork gyoza, and spam musubi. The musubi was a little different. I think it was ume in it. So good. Pork gyoza, steamed and pan fried. The casual vibe was complimented by fast service and a very kind and communicative waitress. Food: -Fried oysters were too fishy for our liking and didn't taste very fresh. -The Eel rice bowl was also quite fishy. However, the seafood pungent flavor was balanced with sweet sauces. My brother who loves eel said the fishy flavor was fine to him but he thought the dish was a bit too bland. -Spicy miso ramen with Thin noodles was quite tasty and did have some spice to it. Classic. -Spicy miso ramen with Udon noodles were just as good. The udon noodles were thick and smooth and I think absorbed the broth less than the thin noodles. -Spicy miso ramen with minced pork was the table's favorite! Tengu has become our go to ramen spot. There menu is large and they have rice bowls, a variety of appetizers, and other various things in addition to many varieties of ramen. However, I enjoy the spicy pork ramen with peanuts so much I never order anything else. They do have a lunch menu that is cheaper (but eggs are extra at lunch). I wish that they had fountain drinks but 2 bucks for a can isn't awful. Overall the tasty food, quick and friendly service, and fair prices will keep us returning. read more

We visit here frequently, minimum four times a month since they opened. If you take the time to talk to the staff you'll find they are all very kind and hard working individuals. Learning about their families and culture gives this charming little restaurant a comfortable home feeling. The food is delicious. The portions are fair and the quality and flavor are always there. We have been lucky to try several different dishes from their sides of rice, musubi, and egg rolls, to the ramen, noodles, and curry udon. Each one has been scrumptious. There's limited seating with the kitchen alone taking a 1/4 of the intimate space. However, Wafts of their exotic dishes linger while soft music plays. Decorations have evolved and expanded since their opening, from small figurines to colorful umbrellas dangling above the guests head. To put it simply, this place is adorable, affordable, and appetizing hence it has become a staple to our "usual" dining outtings. But I received my order (no ramen cuz I don't want to die on my lunch break lol) and it was just... okay? I'm kinda bummed because I got a pork rice bowl, takoyaki, and spam musubis. All of which were either underwhelming or overly salty. Sometimes restaurants have bad days which is totally fine but for the prices, I'd hope that the portions wouldve been a bit bigger? The takoyaki came with 4 pieces which, it's whatever, but I'm use to about 6 from most fast/casual Japanese places. They were okay too, but just not wow. The pork rice was a little dry and I asked for no green onions and there was a fat handful on top lol. Again, I'm not mad I just removed it all. The spam musubis are what kinda had me messed up because one musubi cut into four pieces is a bit cheap, no? I did like the sweetness of the pork though; it was reminiscent of char siu- which makes sense as this place is owned by Chinese. The servers were polite and prompt, and the dining room was clean.
