The sauce was great; a bit more vinegar really made it pop compared to the usual sweet one-note sauce you get at most places. The escolar nigiri. Very fresh and tasty! A yellowtail roll. Again, very clean taste. The nigiri sampler, which had shrimp, salmon, yellowtail, albacore, mackerel, tuna, and snapper. Again, tasty, fresh, well made Overall the nigiri were smaller than most places I've been to recently, but well made and well-priced. With a couple large sapporos the wife and I were very happy. It also looks like they have a solid happy hour Tues-Fri 2-5pm. The service was very pleasant. We were there early, so the sushi chef was also our server. He was very nice and we all enjoyed a bit of the World Cup on tv. The restaurant is small: 4 tables and 5 seats at the sushi bar; however, the decor is very cool. Omg, what a find! We stopped in for a quick snack before heading to the escape room a couple doors down, and wow, I'm so glad we did. This little spot totally surprised us. The fish was super fresh, the rice was on point, and that sauce on the rainbow roll? The best I've had. Honestly, all the rolls were tasty, but if you come here, the rainbow roll is a must. Service was fast and super friendly. The sushi chef looked like he was having the best time making rolls, you could just tell he loved what he was doing, and it showed in the food. I have ordered delivery from here and it was fine. Last night I went in and order to go and it was not good. I ordered the chicken bento box and the chicken was so overcooked that I could not eat it. The Philadelphia role was mostly rice but the albacore roll was ok. I spent over $40 and couldn't eat the chicken. I waited almost 20 min to order and it was very loud inside . I didn't mind the music at all but everyone seemed to know each other. It was not inviting and felt like if you didn't know the chef or servers you had to wait and received subpar service It was not crowded or close to closing so I won't be back. read more

Best rolls in Vista! Delicious, and a great price. While the place is rather small, with a total of 21 seats (4 tables of 4 seats, 5 at a bar), the owner was just the sweetest and cutest guy. His smile was gorgeous. As long you don't mind a wait, then this is the place to go! We ordered 2 Reasons and the Fury Roll (which was the staff recommendation). The 2 Reasons is a shrimp sushi roll with torched salmon, honey, and (I think) avocado/cream cheese. The flavors were subtle and don't overpower any of the other ingredients. The Fury Roll, topped with eel sauce and spicy mayo, was a bundle of warm flavors wrapped up on my taste buds. I'm not a spicy mayo person... but gosh, was this just a wonderful dish to have. And to top it off--the gyoza has the most gorgeous coloring that I had ever laid on eyes at any sushi place. The crunch, the folds... the sauce. It was perfect. Bold in flavor, possibly too much sauces but still delish. Inside: yellowtail, spicy tuna, salmon. Top: same as inside Sauces: cilantro, lemon, and "magic" *Reel lemon Roll - Refreshing & light. The dream roll sucks. The reel lemon had nothing on it of the description. No lemon and cream cheese in it (specifically ordered this roll because I hate cream cheese). And this crunch roll? A friend invited me to dinner tonight and she took me to Sushi4Reel, a place she has been to many times and raves about, and this being my first time. Gurrrrrlllllllll! She was not lying! This place was amazing. Quick, friendly, and great service and reasonably priced. Even had a chance to interact with the owner who was great and very personable. Everything was fresh and made to order. We ordered the spicy edamame, 2 Spring Breaks, and 2 Dreams. Perhaps if we had tried some Sushi4Reel specialty rolls we would have been more impressed. We wanted to try a new sushi place & based on the high Yelp ratings we came here. Unlike our usual sushi places, Love Boat & Hooked on Sushi, we got a table right away. Which was amazing because it's a tiny place. I ordered the Sushi Variety plate (see photo) & the others in my party ordered the Sushi 4 Reel Special #2 chicken teriyaki plate & the Special Sushi 4 Reel salmon bento box. Unfortunately because of "too many tickets coming in" (server comment), the 6oz teriyaki chicken came alone with no rice or tempura roll. It's usually served with a tempura roll but that came much later. So it was a small amount of bare chicken on a big plate, no rice. The bento box came with rice but the salmon portion was tiny. My plate of sushi was last to arrive, everyone else had finished. I was underwhelmed. To be fair, their specialty rolls look great & I think they are the reason for their high ratings. My nigiri portions were tasty but small - the spicy tuna hand roll tasty but basic. If you order any special plate or sushi plate, order more because you'll still be hungry. There is only one sushi chef so if other tables are ordering a lot, your experience may be the same as ours with items coming out one at a time. I hope to try them again on a better night. I'll definitely order a couple of their specialty rolls. read more

It was okay. Nothing too special and the flavors did not really wow me much but it was not bad. I think it was a solid 3 star for me. The hubby got a grilled chicken with teriyaki sauce that also came with salad, soup, and a full crunchy roll. I decided to get the Hawaiian roll, Paradise roll, and the Spring break roll. The Spring break roll was the best out of all the rolls but it was super drenched with spicy mayo. It was a very quaint shop with only about 5 tables. Since this is farther from my house and we have so many sushi places near us, I probably will not be back. Can't believe it took me so long to try this place out! I'm from Orange County and have been here for four years. My girlfriend has told me great things about this place but I never gave it a chance until today. The menu is filled with several rolls/combinations I had never seen before and while I was originally looking for some of my "usuals", my girlfriend and I had a great time going through the menu and trying new things out together. The flavors were unique but didn't stray too far from what someone would expect from traditional sushi rolls. I definitely look forward to trying out the rest of the menu. The server was very kind, knowledgable, and attentive with a great personality (and cool glasses). I am sad that I didn't catch his name but I hope i'm lucky enough to have him as my server when I go again. The owner is the only one making the rolls behind the counter. Same thing here. First when we walked in 3 parties followed behind us. They told us to sit at one of the tables since it's only 6 tables and the counter. When we sat down we were created by staff super cool, and everything. Menu has variety which is good, but don't buy a soda... we ordered sprite thinking it would come from a fountain but it was just one cam for $3 basically... we got our tempura shrimp for app that was really good. Honestly, like I'm picky about my tempura batter but this was great. Then we got chicken katsu for daughter but it's not pictured. She ate the rice which is good. Then my husband got the Dream roll he loved it, & I got the charger roll, it wasn't super cold, but a little too warm for my liking, but still a good (simple) roll. Total wasn't bad. For everything paid about $50. Including our $3 soda. It's really good and highly recommend, especially for price and if you want sushi close to your neighborhood. I wanted to try this place because of their "good" reviews. However, it was NOT a good experience. And if I could I would give them 0 stars. They only have 4 tables. Music was loud and service was bad. Almost 1.5hrs after we arrived we were still waiting for our sushi rolls. All of a sudden, the manager/owner (?) comes to our table acknowledging it has been too long of a wait for our food. And while we were still waiting for our food she offered "MORE FOOD" to make up for the long wait. Why would we want more food if we were still waiting for the food we ordered 1.5 hrs earlier????? Then she offered some "sake" instead, but I didn't want drinks.... I just wanted our food to be served. Even after she acknowledged that we waited too long, we finally started getting our food one by one. I really wish we would have left like the people at the table next to ours did. Immediately after serving us the last dish we ordered, the waitress showed up with the check (I did not ask for it) and she didn't even ask if we wanted something else.... And not even a discount to make up for the wait and bad service!!!!! I'm never going back.... I can understand sometimes there are delays, but the interaction with the manager/owner (?) and the fact that she did not offer any discount says a lot about how she takes care of the clients.
