I stopped by this location to get a juice and realized there's a new business had opened up where the previous juice shop was. It looks like PokePort has made a home in Oceanside! PokePort Oceanside offers customizable poke bowls, allowing customers to choose their base (sushi rice, brown rice, or mixed greens), a protein (such as albacore, salmon, ahi or tofu), dressing (like wasabi or spicy aioli), mix-ins (like sweet onions, mango or tempura flakes), and sides (including avocado, kimchi or seaweed salad). Each bowl is priced at around $18, with options to add extra protein or additional mix-ins and sides for an additional cost. This chain also has locations in Wildomar, Murrieta and Temecula as well. I hear that they are a family-owned and this is good news. I was greeted by the friendly staff as I entered. I observed a few customers come in and order food TO-GO. The interior is very simple and direct, with not a lot of decor or anything that stands out to enhance ambiance. Although it appears spacious, there's also very limited seating available. So, it's a great place for lunch, solo dining and maybe a date, but not great for large groups of people. I watched a few orders be prepared and the process is quick and cordial. I ordered a simple tiger milk boba drink, but requested coffee be added and they were willing to accommodate my request and I appreciated that. I had already eaten, but I decided to get a customized poke bowl and I loved it! I look forward to returning to try their Korean Bbq Beef Plate. Overall, I feel that PokePort Oceanside is a great hidden gem in a corner of Oceanside that often gets overlooked, even though it's right next to the 76 highway. read more

Pretty good poke spot in Oceanside!!! Fish is fresh and delicious. It tried their small bowl with salmon and scallops and I thought it was great overall. Good, fresh ingredients. It was pretty pricy for a small (came out to about $19 after tax and tip) but it kept me full for the whole day, so it was like eating lunch and dinner. read more

Pokeport is located off Frazee off the 76 Highway. Parking lot is interesting as it has so many 20 min spaces but there's multiple places nearby but anyhoo. Pokeport is a humble little restaurant with a noticeable smell upon entering, though it becomes less noticeable over time. It's extremely clean and offers both a public and secret menu. Secret menu is on the door. I ordered the small poke bowl with two protein selections (i ordered scallops and spicy tuna). They offer a wide array of proteins, sauces, toppings, and other add-ons. With the many toppings they provide, they easily could have charged extra, so I really appreciated that they didn't (please continue to not charge extra :) i split my rice and salad which was tasty later on as the dish was able to absorb all the sauces of my selection. Service was great and they have coke products which is always a plus for me. If you create a review on google or yelp you get a free spin which has a variety of offerings such as a free boba drink or a fountain drink which is nice. 11/10! Got the small build your own poke bowl delivered and the ahi tuna was plentiful and tasty, the vegetables fresh, and the preparation thoughtful. I was super impressed with the overall portion (especially the ahi tuna - it literally felt never ending!). I always prepare to be a bit disappointed with any type of delivered take out since it's such a gamble, but this is the first time ever that my expectations were exceeded. Large portions compared to other poké restaurants. Even their small bowl is very closely similar to the large bowl at Poki Poki. Pricing is also competitve. The toppings and protein (fish) were all fresh. The only downside was that I couldn't really taste any of the sauce (goma ponzu). I'm not really a drench your poké in sauce kind of gal, but this was a bit bland. Maybe they forgot? I couldn't taste any of it. Spam musubi was also good- not too salty or overpacked with rice. Holy portions! Pokeport is tucked away next to the 24 hour fitness. Small shop serving up big flavor. The staff is friendly and there are a few tables to sit inside if you're looking to eat there, but I usually take it to-go. The fish is fresh tasting and there are so many sauces and toppings to choose from. And can we talk about the size of the bowl?! They're not stingy with their servings which is really nice. Poke in general can be pricey but I think this place is worth the price tag. It's one of my new go-to's so be sure to try them out! read more

I came in on Sunday the 19th around 8 PM and ordered an Oreo smoothie since I saw they serve boba drinks and wanted to try something new. What I got was a half-blended smoothie with whole ice cubes still inside. It was impossible to sip or enjoy. For the price, this shouldn't be happening. Really disappointing experience. It is a 3.5 for me. Food was good. My biggest issue is how the fish is cut as pieces are too big IMHO, which then shows the fish is not the highest quality it could be. Portion was good, the ratio of base to protein to toppings was fair. Prices are in line with this type of food, so for the price of a sushi roll you get a bowl. Good value overall. read more

Loved this place! Best poke place yet! They have all your standad poke fixings and more. They have Poki burritos and tacos, and bulgogi bowls and musubis. I was very impressed by the options. As well they have boba! Which is a family favorite for us. The avocado also is not extra like some places. The prices are reasonable. This is a true gem. For some of the best ramen that Oceanside has to offer, I recommend The Wu Lan Ramen located in the Plaza Del Oro Shopping Center, just south of the 76 Hwy. The plaza has limited parking, but it isn't typically too crowded and you should be able to find parking in front of this family-owned ramen restaurant. They have a quaint and trendy ambiance and they placed a lot of care into their anime murals, which lends to a "whimsical" vibe. It's a nice blend of traditional elements & colors and modern (kawaii) accents. The interior is also spacious and has great seating for groups and is also good for couples too. Enjoy table seating or better-yet at their bar seating and you can chat with the friendly staff! They have a "staple menu" that is written in chalk on a board and then there's their menu that is very diverse. They also have a great Happy Hour menu with items priced below $8, including sake! I enjoy their pan-fried gyoza, salted edamame, miso soup, firecracker shrimp, fried calamari, chicken karaage and most other delicious dishes. The staff were friendly, and they gave us a complimentary glass of sparkling rosé for our anniversary which was unexpected and delicious! My only side note is that our table was outside (I love the backyard vibe) and I think we were near some plants that had been freshly fertilized because there was an unpleasant smell - but everything else made the smell not matter at all. The ikura nigiri was super fresh -- bright, briny, and buttery in that way that just pops when you bite into it. And the dragon roll? So good. Creamy, flavorful, and balanced -- not overly sauced, just done right. My boyfriend got the Alaskan roll and the Korean ramen, and both were great. The ramen was comforting and flavorful, and the Alaskan roll was fresh and satisfying. Also, our server is always hilarious. It makes the whole experience even better when you're laughing throughout dinner. Between the consistently good food and the friendly, funny service, it's easy to see why we keep coming back. Waraii will always be one of our go-to spots in Vista.

I'm all about quality and freshness and Sky Sushi delivers that. To finish off both visits of course I had to get dessert. I've tried both their matcha and coffee macaron ice cream mini sandwich thing. Dude, if I had a whole box I'd be going to town. I've had the pleasure of seeing the owner there, working hard and having a smile on her face. You can tell she truly loves her space and the food she provides. You can even see her in the video here coming around the corner with a smile. The other employees there are also very friendly, polite and quick with their service. Made reservations online for the tasting menu $225. The place is in the middle of nowhere, from the outside you'd never guess it was fine dining. We started off with a trio of little bites, a tile fish gungakn roll, fried mochi threads, and an acorn cracker filled with camembert cheese. The raw tile fish gunkan was ok, the mochi threads were nice and crunchy, the camembert cheese was too pungent for me. Hamachi/Raspberry - slices of Yellow tail and raspberry in a ponzu sauce. The ponzu stood out most and gave it a salty profile i couldn't really distinguish between the hamachi and the raspberry as the textures were similar. Artichoke Kohlrabi gyoza with a bri sauce. This dish was very good though i thought it was more like ravioli than gyoza. It even looked like ravioli. I think they just called it gyoza to make it fit the Japanese theme. Shrimp tempura was delicious! it was lightly battered and fried and put in a shallow bowl of shrimp broth. They said it came with dynamite sauce but i think it was just kewpie mayo. Very good and one of my favorites of the evening. Chicken wing stuffed with scallop, part of the wing was deboned and stuffed with a Hokkaido scallop. It was very tasty, the scallop was very sweet and tender. I wish the skin of the chicken wing was crispier. It was quite charred but did not crack when bitten into it and a little rubbery. Tile fish had a very crispy skin and came with a beautiful sauce of i think apples and apricots and a walnut butter. I really liked the sauce that was spooned on the plate. another one of my favorites of the evening. Duck done 2 ways; roasted and a fried tsukune meatball. They both came in a light carrot sauce. The fat on the roasted piece was nicely rendered and the duck meat very tender. The tsukune was nicely fried and crispy and still rare inside. The palate cleanser was a pine ice cream with Aloe Jelly, The pine ice cream was quite refreshing and smooth i thought the aloe jelly was a bit strong tasting. I think flavor came from the geranium but something had a strong taste to it. The dessert was also one of my favorites White chocolate with hokkaido milk powder on top of miso ice cream and slices of tangerine. It was supposed to be reminiscent of a creamsicle. The Hokkaido milk power was magic on the shards of white chocolate, the miso ice cream was very smooth and dense and when eaten together with the pieces of manderin orange did remind me of a creamsicle. They gave us a trio of finishing dishes a trio of bites; Castella cake, Kokuto jelly and raspberry mochi. The castella cake didn't really stand out, it wasn't the sweet dense cake that im used to. The kokuto jelly had that deep brown sugar taste but was too stiff in my opinion. The raspberry mochi had a strong raspberry flavor which i loved and had a good chew to it. Service was exceptional, water was filled many times almost every time the water glass went down 1/4 it was filled to the top. Each course was preceded with the proper utensiles and were cleared after each dish. i must have had at least 4 forks and 4 spoons. Definilty 5 star (Michilin style) service. Food was very good maybe 4 stars. Value was ok maybe 3 stars. If you divided the courses by the price it came to $25 per course. If you looked at the ala cart menu, many of the items were there and could be had for less than $25, of course not all the dishes on the tasting menu were available ala cart. But i feel if you sat at the bar and ordered a cocktail and maybe 5-6 dishes you't still pay a hefty price but it would be much less than $225. I feel like thats the way to go instead of the tasting menu. Come here if you want exceptional service.

To my surprise, there were plenty of time slots available for this fine dining establishment located in a former neighborhood corner bar and grill in Oceanside. There was a small parking lot to the south of the building which had dedicated spots reserved for this establishment. A copy of the tasting menu was posted outside next to the entranceway. I took a picture for future reference because little did we know that we would not be seeing a list of the preset offerings during our visit. The inside was a dimly lit open dining space with a bar in the back left corner. The decor was minimal with some greenery and figurines along a couple of the walls. After mentioning that I had made a reservation, a worker guided us to one of the round tables in the middle of the room. The reservation required that we pre-pay the cost of the entire meal plus tax. Our server asked if we wanted any enhancements like caviar or wagyu. After declining that and any wine or sake pairings, the staff began to bring out a procession of courses in the following order... * Otsumami - Gunkanmaki, Mochi Fry, Acorn | Camembert * Kanpachi | Raspberry * Artichoke | Kohlrabi | Brie * Ebi Tempura | Dynamite | Tentsuyu * Chicken Wing | Imo | Scallop * Tilefish | Apple | Walnut * Duck | Carrot | Wasabi * Pine | Aloe | Geranium * White Chocolate | Miso | Tangerine The dishes were each beautifully plated. The chicken wing was partially deboned and stuffed with a mix of potatoes and scallop. That was my favorite item of the group. The dessert was also very good with the citrus from the tangerine paired with the pieces of white chocolate. Locally caught tilefish was the replacement protein for the pork neck course. The fish was cooked well, however I would have liked to try the pork preparation as it had been listed on the tasting menu. An aspect that confused me was the number of courses for the $229 price. I had expected ten, but when we declined the wagyu upgrade for the beef course, there was no lower tier of meat served as a substitute. Therefore, we only received nine courses but still paid as if there were ten. That should have been explained by the waitstaff because the value of the dinner became less with one fewer protein serving. Not providing the actual menu for the evening was a major faux pas and oversight. Every high-end restaurant where we have enjoyed a pre-fixe dinner always furnishes the menu du jour. The top-notch service was the reason why I rounded up my rating of our Matsu experience to a four star level.

The buffalo chicken sandwich is hands down the best around, and you can't go wrong with their burgers or pizzas either. Everything I've had has been consistently delicious. They're also incredibly dog-friendly, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, so I always know I'm going to be comfortable, happy, and well-fed. Parking is surprisingly easy too--even on busy PCH, I've always managed to find a spot either on the street or in their small lot. Green Cheek took over the previous space beautifully and has truly made it their own. I have no doubt this will be an Oceanside staple for many years to come. Five stars all the way!

Stopped by for their opening sale and it was packed. The staff there was very efficient and patient, even when the person in front of me had them re-make their order several times due to absolutely silly reasons. (Fun fact, apparently the fish needs to be segregated in the bowl or else it's ruined) They handled them with grace and still did their best to work together to speed the process along for the other customers. As for the food, I got a poke bowl (I really wanted to try the Pokeritio and KBBQ but it was near the end of the day during a sale so they were sold out. Guess I'll have to come back!) Visited today, Sunday, June 22, 2025. Even though the establishment was clean and inviting, we had already decided on take out. The two associates (wish I got their names) were absolutely wonderful! The young man so very kind and patient with my mom while the young girl attended to myself. If we weren't in a hurry, we definitely would have stayed to eat. Which leads me to the food. Poking Poki did a nice job building my custom bowl, though I would have liked more sauce options, especially non-spicy choices. That said, I'd happily order another bowl here, even if they serve them in square containers. Maybe they should call them "poke squares"? Tip: The large bowl is truly large.
