Decided to try this spot on a whim, as it's not far from my place and I'm new to the area. A sushi spot for me is a MUST. My first visit I tried their Sky Sushi, and for today's visit I went with their Red Dragon Roll. My favorite is the appetizer soup that comes with your orders. Never been big on tofu, but however they make that soup really pleases my taste buds. Truly wish they had a chefs kiss emoji, because thats how good this place is. I'm all about quality and freshness and Sky Sushi delivers that. To finish off both visits of course I had to get dessert. I've tried both their matcha and coffee macaron ice cream mini sandwich thing. Dude, if I had a whole box I'd be going to town. I've had the pleasure of seeing the owner there, working hard and having a smile on her face. You can tell she truly loves her space and the food she provides. You can even see her in the video here coming around the corner with a smile. The other employees there are also very friendly, polite and quick with their service. The decor there is also super cute, I find myself looking at different subtle pieces, and (totally random) the wall colors are easy on the eyes. It almost feels relaxing in there. Super happy we found a sushi spot close to home! The restaurant has a very open, welcoming atmosphere, and both the server and hostess were incredibly kind. The food was delicious! We ordered the bulgogi and chicken teriyaki entrées, and both were flavorful and well-portioned. Each plate came with the meat, a choice of two sides, rice, salad, and miso soup, which made it feel like a great value. Definitely a spot we'll be coming back to! And we had also ordered through DoorDash and came to pick up which was ready in about 30mins. Dining in and ordering out is great! read more

Rude customer service. It's funny. Hours are posted. You get there before close and the owner is sitting in the middle of the restaurant eating a meal and turning customers away yelling from his seat towards customers at the door. If you can't abide by your hours, the least you can do is just close the door and lock it rather than give the impression your open with ur restaurant door propped wide open and the open sign on. I am grateful to my fellow Yelpers whose reviews and photos led me to Sky Sushi. I used yelp's nearby restaurants tool to find a new restaurant where I enjoyed fabulous and convenient lunch. Let's start off with their kick ass menu which offers specials, combos, and rolls with the flexibility to cater your meal to get everything that a you could want. Typically when a restaurant offers a lunch special it will come with some sides, but here the sky is the limit. You get to select 2 items from a giant list of mixed tempura, goyoza, california, tuna or crunch rolls, seaweed salad or hand rolls with either tuna or salmon. This is perfect for me and I opted for the garlic shrimp and scallop meal with tempura and seaweed salad. I love the decadence of tempura, but a big portion is not in my playbook. I have never been offered seaweed salad as an option with a combo and it was delicious. The shrimp and scallops were medium sized and I wish I had requested no garlic, but I am exceptionally picky and do not like pre-prepared garlic but that was my only issue. I did appreciate the perfectly fried veggies in this dish. I give Sky sushi two thumbs up. read more

My husband and I recently moved to the area and we were looking for a good sushi spot nearby. We saw all the great reviews on Yelp and we decided to give this spot a try and we are so glad we did! It was easy to find parking in their parking lot and the restaurant was very clean. All the employees we interacted with here were very nice and the service was on point. We were provided complimentary edamame. We ordered the Chef's Choice Sashimi Combo, Andrea's Roll, and Chicken Curry Entree. Everything was good but the Sashimi Combo was what will be bringing us back here. The fish were very good quality and it came with real wasabi from Japan. Was excited to try this place but had a really odd and off putting interaction with the employee who gave me my order. He asked if I wanted chopsticks, I said yes, and then he said something I couldn't hear, so I said "I'm sorry, what did you say?" and he sighed, shook his head, and said "how many?" and looked visibly annoyed with me. And at this point I got confused and thought I had heard him wrong and that he was asking how many sauces I wanted instead of chopsticks, because typically when a restaurant employee asks me if I want chopsticks, it's usually just a yes or no. So I said "how many what? Chopsticks?" And he then nodded in a way I can only describe as extremely condescending. And I walked away feeling frustrated because it felt like I was annoying him for asking him to clarify what he was asking me, even though I could hardly hear him. It just seems like basic professionalism to clarify what you're asking without treating a customer like they're an annoyance. Again, extremely off putting, which is unfortunate because I was really excited to try this place. read more

I picked up several rolls for a pot luck and both varieties were delicious. I'm definitely going to go back with my husband to try more of the offerings. I like that the take out was trustworthy and fresh flavor. I also like that you can customize your rolls. And either add or remove ingredients. I love this spot and so glad I had Jury Duty or I would not have found it! It's such a cozy spot, very clean and spacious. The waitress is just the sweetess most hard worker ever, she is very attentive to her customers and will have you in and out and fed to your schedule. I feel so bad for taking so long to write this review, but I finally got some time to catch up on writing! We visited Sky Sushi on a weekday evening, and there was only one other table seated. We were quickly greeted with smiles, and it was such a welcoming atmosphere! This spot felt so clean and the decor is very nice. There is ample places to park, and it's located right off the 78 freeway at Melrose Dr. between the Vista courthouse and Arco gas station. After entering and being welcomed in, we got to choose which table to sit at and the waiter brought over our menus soon after. He was a GEM! He was attentive, quick, and funny! We ordered a few rolls, which I included pictures of along with the name of each roll. This was AMAZING sushi! And the lady who was manning the front area (and I believe the owner) came over to see how everything was. She was UNBELIEVABLY sweet, and I let her know we live only a block away, and I had no idea they were there. She said they are trying to get word out about their restaurant but it's been hard... but that's what Yelpers are for! If you like sushi, swing by Sky Sushi in Vista and check them out!! We tried Sky Sushi and were super surprised that it wasn't good after reading some of the reviews. When we arrived the restaurant wasn't busy and we were able to seat ourselves. My hubs and I got a sushi roll each and the sushi rice was super mushy. I ended up only eating the inside and fish because it was an expensive roll. My hubs didn't finish his roll. He said the fish on his roll didn't taste right. I also ordered the Tonkatsu ramen. They warmed up the Chashu on the grill and burned it and put it in my broth. Because they burned it..it gave a burned flavor to my broth and it didn't taste good. I only ended up eating half of it. My hubs and son also got bowls with katsu and sesame chicken. They said that their bowls were ok. The consistency of the rice in their bowls seemed better and they said the chicken was cooked ok. Maybe it was an off day. I feel bad leaving a bad review, but I also feel bad feeling like I wasted my $$$. That said..the people who served us were really nice. read more

We came here because we saw great reviews. Definitely lived up to our expectations. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with hospitality unlike any we've experienced before. Gina was so polite. We ordered Crunchyroll , lobster bake roll, salmon roll , eel bowl and the desserts! It was so so good. This was our first time at Sky Sushi Vista. We were HUNGRY after working out at the GYM and I spotted this place. I thought what's the harm in checking it out. Well we definitely ordered like we were hungry! I feel good that I ordered a salad. We split it and we shared everything else as well. You know how it's done Asian family style. My husband and I always look for good sushi places and we have tried several in the north county but they were either bad or just bland. I found this place based on its great reviews and wide selection of sushi and other things. We came here for lunch, it was close to their lunch closing time and the place was empty. But a friendly lady greeted us and showed us the table. A lot of places don't offer lunch specials on weekends but this place does, so we got teriyaki chicken, salmon teriyaki and tofu teriyaki. They came with miso soup, which was very good. The sushi was very fresh so was everything else. The owner is a Korean couple and they keep this place very clean and cute. I was in the area and decided to check this place out. They close in between lunch and dinner shift, so I had to wait a few minutes before they opened again. Once open, it got busy pretty fast. The guy taking orders, was very sweet and made sure to greet everyone and let them know he'd be with them shortly. I ordered the yaki udon stir fry to go. Once home, I was excited to eat. Sadly, upon first bite all I tasted was like a bbq sauce, which seemed extremely weird to me as I wasn't expecting that taste. Everything else about the dish would have been good if they the sauce didn't taste like bbq. I don't mind the taste of bbq... but not in my noodle dishes. The sushi did look good. If I could.. I would give them 10 stars! We love this family owned and run Sushi Restaurant! We have celebrated 2 birthdays here and they have not only brought dessert to our table, but hats too! And helped us sing! We've also been here for many family dinners and date nights and the service and food have been excellent every time!
