Caterpillar roll

Whenever I come here, we get seated fairly quickly. The service is nice and the water with lemon is also really good. Sometimes it can get quite packed and loud here. Everyone is really nice and the food is good here. Prices are reasonable. There are some items on the menu I don't like though, so I found things I do like instead. Their galbi short ribs are also delicious! Sometimes we don't get a good cut though. My mom loved to order that. This is a go to spot for me because the service is always friendly and quick.

Came here after a quick Yelp review and wanted to try somewhere new. Was instantly unimpressed w the dining room which is all tables with booths around the outside. (Comfortable and cozy seating is important for me when dining out) Busboy was dressed in street clothes / graphic tshirt which seemed odd. Sushi was not as inexpensive as some had boasted on Yelp and it wasn't fresh tasting like other sushi places we frequent. Waitress was nice enough but didn't do much other than take our order and bring our food. Busboy filled our waters and cleared our table. Overall not impressed w the dining experience and with so many other solid sushi options in town likely won't return.

This is our go to sushi spot in San Marcos. It's consistently tasty and good quality ingredients. Service is also on point, and pretty quick as well. If the ambiance was nicer, I'd do 5 stars but it feels like a normal casual restaurant; which in San Marcos is pretty much all you're going to get. There are TVs all over, etc. They have a TON of speciality rolls and each of them I've tried have all been great. In San Marcos you won't find anything better in my opinion; and I've tried most of them!

Lemon roll and tuna sushi

The lemon roll was super yummy no complaints and fair pricing. The tuna sushi I thought could've been cheaper because it's not the freshest high quality fish, but it was still fine to me.

Sushi is sooooo good!!! So many choices to choose from too. From the three rolls we got I couldn't choose a favorite. There's lots of seating. Staff is super friendly and kept checking on us too.

Came here several times now and is a pretty solid place. Service is quick and food always hits the spot. Servers are always friendly. Music is always fun. One of our top places to come for sushi or ramen.

It's been a few months since I've been here. I remember when we walked in the dining room was full! Packed and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. Luckily we did not have to wait as there were a few seats at the bar. We got service right away. The sushi chefs were pretty busy cranking out orders but also attended to us when we put in our order. I asked for Otoro but they did not have any so I got the Hamachi. It was so fresh and just melts in your mouth. The way he cut it made it look so pretty and there was hamachi belly in there as well. I love the freshness and tenderness of the hamachi sashimi. We each had our own chirashi bowl, which we could've of shared one, as you can see it is huge. The bowl came with a side soup and salad that came in a pretty bowl. I like the salad dressing they had. The chirashi was just ok. There was a pure white fish in there that I did not like (between the krab & salmon). It was pretty basic yet fresh but since it was big I couldn't finish it.

Soup & salad for my sushi combo

Pretty decent sushi spot. I come here with my bf and friends every once and awhile to get a sushi fix. The albacore lovers and the lemon roll is pretty good. Service is pretty good when they're not busy and you get free green tea ice cream on your bday.

Sashimi combo

I enjoyed my first time eating here for dinner on a Sunday night with a couple of friends. We ordered beer, hot and cold sake, sashimi (including salmon egg and octopus), a sashimi combo, and a ton of sushi (including the White Dragon roll and the Lemon roll). All were delicious, especially the octopus sashimi, Lemon roll, and sashimi combo. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because our server was great to start but then we found ourselves flagging her down for refills, etc. and then realized after all the sushi came out that she hadn't put in the sashimi combo order. Fortunately it came out quickly, but definitely threw off the pace of our meal. Looking forward to my next visit!

Service: Visit was during a weekday just past the lunch hour. Restaurant nearly empty and had like 4 tables being tended to. We were greeted at the door and had the option to sit anywhere. The food turnaround after the order was like 15 minutes - which it should be. 5/5 stars Food: Exclusively ordered sushi. I tend to order a restaurant's Rainbow roll (which is comprised of 4-5 chef's choice of fish) to really taste the freshness of the fish (w/o soy and wassabi), and in addition, also tried the Huku roll. The fish on both rolls were fresh and the rolls were just about the right size. We were provided complimentary edamame prior. 5/5 stars Overall: I had a good experience for a first timer and I didn't have a stomach ache prior nor did I have any other abdominal issues from the food (as some reviews have stated). I have a sensitive stomach and it doesn't take much to give me the "runs", LoL. Probably the next visit when this place gets busy is the true test if this review remains. But for now, you earned my stars.

On my last order... Chicken Bowl-fresh vegetables and teriyaki chicken over round rice. Sunomono (cucumber) salad was delicious and refreshing. Spicy tuna roll and tiger roll were incredible as always. I'm so glad that this restaurant opened few years ago. We've pretty much had everything on the menu and never been disappointed.

I came in for lunch and ordered the "B" special, which includes 4 pieces of chef's choice nigiri and 5 pieces of sashimi, along with two gyoza, salad, and miso soup. Positives: * The salmon and tuna quality were very good * Service was friendly Negatives: * Despite the apparent freshness, several pieces of fish were cut with noticeable connective tissue (white fibrous strands), which made the sushi and sashimi unpleasant to eat * The spicy tuna roll was extremely spicy, far beyond typical sriracha or similar, to the point it was hard to finish * The salad dressing (looked like a Thousand Island style) was also unexpectedly spicy and heavily coated the lettuce * The albacore quality was not great and also had connective tissue * The ambiance was loud and not very relaxing * Seating felt oddly high and uncomfortable * Prices felt steep for what was served (around $50 for sushi/sashimi lunch options; the mixed "B" special was $26) * The soy sauce dish was very small and made it difficult to dip the nigiri properly Overall, a disappointing experience given the price point. I was hoping to find a new go-to spot, but I'll keep looking.

Coincidentally, if you're still naive enough to believe in that sort of thing, was the night the family ate at LOVE BOAT SUSHI and my grandson's birthday. we sat outside to accommodate a party of nine there to celebrate the thirteenth anniversary of Benjamin's birth. that's a nod to my late father who ALWAYS insisted on making the distinction between anniversary (which happens every year) and the actual day of birth (which happens only once). as you would reasonably assume from the photos (and AWOL are an additional eight or ten items), to paraphrase a line from my favorite Muppet movie, dinner in this restaurant costs the same as a new Buick. hey, I read it in the Wall Street Journal -- it must be true. service and food were both five stars. happy birthday, Benjamin. ps: not sure why only ten of the nineteen photos attached to the footer of my review since they ALL posted. does Yelp have a cutoff of ten?

We some combos, I got a sashimi and nigiri combo, my husband got a nigiri and rainbow row, and California roll on the side. They don't have chirashi bowls, so that was a bummer. The sushi wasn't bad. No fishy taste and pretty fresh. It was a random Wednesday. Definitely pricey for not a lot of food though. Wish they add a chirashi bowl, but wouldn't mind ordering from here again.
