I've been meaning to stop by and try Turi's Sushi out for a while now and finally made it. The service was great. The waitresses were very attentive and the sushi chefs were very friendly as well. My husband and I shared a sashimi sampler which was absolutely phenomenal. We also shared mixed tempura appetizer and although the shrimp was really good, the vegetables were a bit undercooked. I also ordered a hamachi roll which I really enjoyed. My husband had beef yakisoba which he said was really good as well. Absolutely enjoyed our meal here. Why knock a star off? The undercooked vegetables in the mixed tempura, the beef yakisoba dish took a significant amount of time to come out. We had to ask a couple of times about about the status. And then I noticed that since it was an entree, it was supposed to come with a miso soup or salad. It was never mentioned to us. read more

Tonight we walked in and sat at the sushi bar. It's was pretty quiet (we were there early). We ordered beer, saki and garlic edamame first. The edamame was delicious. We ate it so fast, no picture. Then we ordered the 12 piece sashimi. It was albacore, yellowtail, salmon and bluefin. The fish was so good. We also ate that so fast I didn't get a picture. We decided to get the lemon roll. We have not had it before. It's was so good. We will definitely go back or order and pick up. read more

This small sushi spot in downtown Vista is a great find. It's nice to have more sushi spots in Vista! The fish is fresh and the rolls are flavorful. The space is very cozy, which adds to the charm, but the parking can definitely be limited. For this reason, we order take out. Also, only half of the restaurant is open since they are still remodeling. I'll wait until the remodel is complete to return and dine in. We've enjoyed several different rolls and sashimi. They have traditional rolls and some interesting speciality rollls. A long list of appetizer options too! The tempura veggies always hit the spot and warm edamame. read more

4 stars. I am rating 5 because we need many more family owned businesses like this in N. County, especially in Vista! This place rocks: The vibe, the staff, the owner, the service and the food! I love seating at the bar enjoying some snack paired with sake or a cold beer. They also have Japanese beers on tap. The Chefs also work hard on dressing/presentation of each dish. I highly recommend the "Carpaccio": perfect seasoning via a combination herbs and oils... The chefs will also pretty much accommodate and customize each roll with anything you want. Plenty of vegetarian options. Best sushi in in town, period! A big plus for their daily happy hour special! Highly recommended. read more

This review is during their soft opening. We came for dinner and were really excited about this new place, but it let us down on so many levels. Food. Agedashi tofu. It's very watery! Seared salmon. So much garlic oil on this, I couldn't taste the salmon.. Yellowtail Carpaccio. It's doused in oil and there was a pinbone in one of the cuts... Hamachi Kama. Generous portion size, but it was really dry. The green tea was great though! It's not from a generic tea bag and was steeped so it was refreshing to have over ice. Last but not least, TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR BILL! The prices on ours didn't line up with the prices on the menu. They mentioned they had a new POS system, but that doesn't make it OK to charge the customer more.. Some people pay without thinking twice, so take a good look first. My agedashi tofu was $7.35 ($7 on the menu) and our chicken katsu was $23.10 (which is $22 on the menu). Overall, I think this place needs to work out a few kinks - but the hot food like the udon and katsu were pretty decent, and the rice to sushi ratio is pretty nice (not too much rice). Our server was very nice and attentive. We ordered two bento boxes and the miso soup, tempura and spicy tuna rolls were very good. The beef teriyaki was ok. It was pounded SO thin that there was very little there, and it had an odd Mexican and teriyaki flavor to it. I'll probably go back but try another item like salmon or chicken. read more

Great new spot in Vista! We went shortly after they first opened on a Sunday, and it was nice and quiet. The service was great, and the rolls were divine! The ambiance will likely improve over time--it's a little open and cold feeling right now. We were also the only ones there which made it feel that way! The menu is huge--both in size and in options. We wanted to try a new sushi place near us so I got on Yelp. Turi Sushi came up. We were blown away. I'm very picky about my sushi. The fish was so fresh and so flavorful. The presentation was awesome. We also got the Ramen and we were both were blown away by the incredible flavor and all the goodies in it. The garlic edamame was delicious. We have found our new favorite sushi place. The prices were about the same as any other good sushi spot. Not overly priced or super cheap. Went there for a quick little day date. Their food and service was AMAZING! We love to sit at the bar to chit chat and the sushi chefs, and Eddie was a great time. The food was good- unfortunately a terrible experience with the staff. My weed pen fell out of my pocket while I was signing the bill - forgot to pick it up. Came back 30 minutes later to get it and they insisted it wasn't there even though I was 100% certain it was. My boyfriend went it after they shooed me off and insisted it was there and to as the back of house staff if they had it. After he waited 5-10 minutes they came out with it and apologized. We heard great things about this place and were excited to have dinner there. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and quickly seated. Our servers came by quickly with water and menus. The menu had lots of great options , we decided to split some things to get to try more options. We started with mixed tempura with shrimp and wee not disappointed ! We like Asian ginger and our ladies continued to bring more to the table as we devoured it. We also had a shared chicken ramen bowl. The servers Mia was nice enough to have them put it in two bowls so we weren't dribbling soup on the table trying divide it ourselves. All in all we had a lovely first experience at Turi Sushi . So, this little unassuming sushi joint in Vista. Some may say...Where?? I only really know of one in downtown and man, there's always a wait! Shh I almost don't want to tell y'all where! Had our experience been stellar, this would have been a 4/5 review. The food is good, one of the best sushi in town no doubt. But, I'm so glad I read the reviews before coming because when we got our bill, every item was marked up 40 cents to 95 cents. I wouldn't even have bothered checking had it not been for a previous reviewer. None of the pricing reflected the menu. When I inquired, the server said "oh we got a new pos system and those are our old prices. It's okay I'll give you a discount." You just opened. Literally still in soft opening mode. How are those old prices? Discount? That's not a discount. That's simply making it right because operationally, it's a slip up. Which is totally okay- but own that. Don't make it seem like you're doing us any favors. That put a SOUR taste in my mouth and is super upsetting. They're ripping off every customer unless they say something. That's just foul business. Either let customers know when they're coming in the menu prices aren't accurate, or simply honor menu pricing until you get new menus. Left disappointed in the interactions. The food was good but the experience was less than mediocre. They took over an old sports bar. And there's minimal renovations done and it showed. Wasn't the worst but definitely nothing to rave home about as it pertains to the ambiance. read more

I had the following nigiri: Unagi (best ever!), sake (delicious / excellent cut /fresh & flavorful), Hamachi (outstanding!), Ikura (very easy) And the following rolls: Hot Night (if you like a little bit of kick this one is outstanding - just the right amount of kick) Softshell Crab Special Roll (had all kinds of fish: tuna, hamachi, salmon and soft-shell crab in the middle - outstanding flavor!) Here is the huge issue I discovered later on that several others had mentioned (in the reviews) and that is only reason I found out when I looked at my receipt: This is a new restaurant and the prices on the menu do NOT match what you are being charged for on the receipt. I heard from others being told that the new POS system has outdated pricing!??? How would that be possible when it is a brand new restaurant and you set the prices in your POS system ?? And are able to updates those prices immediately once you see a variance with what your menu shows??? Seems rather un-ethical and not really truthful so I am very torn by this late discovery. I hope they will fix this 'mistake' as I would not want to go back to a place where they try to scam you and make poor excuses. Makes no sense to me when you seem to have a great place, excellent food and good customer service. Not sure what the owner is thinking or doing here... very unfortunate! read more
