Update 4/25: It genuinely makes me a little sad to write this, because I used to absolutely adore Wulan , it's right down the street from my house and the Ghibli references inside make it feel so special and charming! But the last two visits have been pretty disappointing, and I feel like honesty is actually the kindest thing I can offer here. The service has slipped noticeably ...tables sat with stacks of dishes, not enough staff on the floor and the food quality has followed. Brown lettuce in my salad, the corn potato salad being sold out, Katsu that was overcooked and dry. That's really hard to overlook, especially when a bowl of ramen is running $16 to $20 and there are solid alternatives like Beshock and Gonzo nearby. That said, the ramen itself is still genuinely good! If you're going purely for ramen and can let the rest slide, it's still one of the better spots around. I'm just rooting for them to bounce back, because I really, truly want to love this place again the way I used to!

Wulan Chicken Ramen, spicy

It smells like restaurants on Oahu. I can't explain what that means, but I got a meaningful whiff that brought me right to Oahu, haha. Not any other Hawaiian island, lol. It wasn't the best ramen I've ever had, but it satisfied the inexplicable ramen craving I have been experiencing when I tax my brain for hours on end. Another big pro is that they have chicken ramen options, which I always appreciate. I don't typically love ramen, so definitely take my assessment with a grain of salt. I do love a draft Japanese beer though, so I can definitely attest to that!

Worth the wait!!! I ordered the chicken wulan app~ delish!!! My bro ordered the chicken teriyaki plate and it's enough for 2!!! But for him? A piece of cake.:) I had the ribeye teriyaki bowl cooked to perfection!! I enjoyed my large hot sake listening to reggae!! Good vibes:) Take me home!!

Stopped in for a quick dinner. Ordered Wulan Chicken Ramen at the counter. Found a seat at table in their casual dining area. Food was brought to the table by the friendly professional staff. Ramen was a large bowl of yumminess with copious amounts of chicken. Recommended to friends & family and anyone looking for a wholesome meal in just one bowl.

First time here and man was it good! The garlic edamame was delicious! Such a wonderful garlic flavor! The place is reminiscent of many great small restaurants in San Francisco! We really enjoyed the great service and delicious sushi! Gotta get back here again soon as the menu is pretty rich with great choices of food for everyone in your group!

The service here was so quick! I liked the vibe of this restaurant too. Tried the black knight ramen which was definitely the better one. The Hot Chick was good, a bit too spicy for me and the broth could've been hotter (temperature-wise) but all the ingredients were good in it! The cuts of chicken were more dark meat and I would've preferred white personally but still a yummy ramen!

The place is clean, food is great! Service is fantastic, I forgot our server's name but my mom only drinks hot water and she made sure my mom gets it. All three of us had their famous ramen and it didn't disappoint. Thank you, Wu Lan Ramen!

Wu-Lan Ramen my go to everytime

I will come to this place over and over! True hidden gem in Oceanside. Small cute ramen shop ! Definitely is my go to when I don't want to make the drive to SD ! Creamy broth & charred flavored pork chasu giving the broth a homestyle flavour. Guys stop reading and go already.

Cozy ambience. Incredible experience. Owners obviously care very deeply about ensuring their customers feel seen and taken care of. So sweet and everyone was lovey and attentive. Our food was incredible, we both got miso hot ramen and gyoza. Possibly the best miso I've had. We were passing through on a FB marketplace run and got lucky we stopped here. 10/10!!!

I've visited several times now and it never disappoints. The ramen is always my go to. Recently, I was excited to see they've expanded their sushi menu, and it's definitely worth exploring. I tried the spicy tuna roll and the Hawaiian crunch roll. The new sushi options add a whole different layer to the experience, making it just as fun to come for rolls as it is for ramen. Between the consistently great ramen and the fresh sushi menu, this has become one of my favorite spots to keep coming back to.

I'm new to Oceansides from LA and in search of a new ramen spot. I got the Wu Lan Ramen in hopes of that creamy Tonkotsu pork broth with those deep umami undertones. It came out looking great but I was somewhat saddened by the broth. Instead of creamy and rich, it felt watered down and lacked that flavorful salty note. Positives: Bamboo shoots, egg, and noodles were yummy Room for improvement: Broth. My chashu was mostly fat and did not have a lot of actual meat. With the char, I expected to bite into something flavored and salted with soy, but it was very bland, tough, and fatty. I really wanted this to work out, but the broth needs more love. The broth is one of the main reasons why I crave ramen

We love Wu lan!! You order by the counter which makes it easier for us. Food is always great! We Love potstickers and crackers shrimp appetizers. They have a great happy hour deal. Ramen is so tasty and the sushi rolls are always fresh. I understand it does get busy around dinner time but it's so worth the wait food is delicious. I always enjoy the art in the walls.

We were greeted as we entered this establishment. The staff was warm. The food was not bad. I enjoyed the broth of the Hot Chic ramen. It could've used some lemon. I thought the place could use a good cleaning, but again not too bad.

I would say Gonzo does the toppings very well. The highlight was the chashu. The broth flavor was great, very deep, but personally I like mine a bit thicker, 8/10. If you like a thinner tonkatsu, this may be your favorite. The noodles were also very firm. When they brought our bowls, they offered a few extra sauces to make it spicier, they aren't just on the table. The staff was all very friendly and provided great service. The inside has this cool modern vibe with Japanese elements throughout which I loved. We started off with takoyaki for the app and omg the presentation was so cute. I'm a total sucker for photogenic food so I was already obsessed before even taking a bite. And the taste? Crispy and chewy on the outside, soft on the inside. Easily a 5/5. For my main I went with the Sapporo miso ramen and wow, the broth was so rich and flavorful. The noodles were thick and chewy and you could totally tell they were made fresh. The pork chashu was super tender and the grilled corn?? Loved it so much. I finished the whole bowl which honestly says everything. My friends got the vegan ramen and the tonkatsu ramen and they were both big fans too. Our server was super attentive and helpful the whole time which made the experience even better. We settled on Oceanside in hopes of finding good food, as our weekend (end of Feb) had been full of a poor results. This place came up as very well rated on Yelp, as my friend and I searched for places to eat. It was a Saturday night with great weather. The red flag I should have read into was that the lone guy working that night was a one man show. He was doing it all in the front of the house. I tried to get us a table to sit outdoors but he just couldn't get to the table to clean it. After about 20 minutes he finally came and just moved all the bowls to the empty table next to it and wiped it down. When my friends finally arrived we all sat down to sticky menus that had NO descriptions. What you see on the website is exactly what they have on the menu. We had to wait to ask the server/host what each menu item meant. It took a while to get our food from when we ordered. Thank goodness for good company, I didn't clock it. The food options were limited and keep in mind for those who have children, most of the options come with a spicy kick, you'll have to explicitly tell them "no spicy"! There was a party who had been sitting for a while before we got there and a kiddo took a bite of pizza and was crying, screaming from it being so spicy. With my ramen the portions are tiny for what you pay, with 1 piece of meat, not enough noodles. Flavor wise it was spicy and bland. We ordered a couple appetizers which were not very good. The edamame was overly salty and soaked in soy sauce and the karaage was probably the only good thing and that was a little overfried. No one in our party finished our food or took any of the leftovers home. Save yourself the trip, not worth trying the "unique foods".

And said welcome for two? have that table right there! I was shocked, immediately feeling more than welcome. So now my hopes were high. Ordered the pork fried rice, house pho, and lotus stem salad with shrimp. Where to begin my goodness, I'm salivating writing this review only one day later. Let's start with the salad, never would I order this in my life but my girl knows her Asian cuisine very well, it was the first thing she picked. And my god, freaking unbelievable every bite I had was so so tasty! That dressing is incredible along with the onions, I don't know what they do to them but man oh man they were delightful. Now the pork fried rice, what a hit! The pork is sliced so unbelievably thin and with so much flavor too, and the fried rice was all very good. Definitely not the best fried rice I've had but it was still quite tasty, I feel it was just slightly on the dry side for a fried rice. But flavor was very tasty and some bites were not dry. And the pho!! Kabang, another hit!!! The broth, noodles, everything. And they serve it with beans sprouts and jalapeno which is a must add!! The crunchiness from the bean sprouts ties the whole bowl together! Will I be back is not even a question one should ask. Boy am I glad to have tried this place!!! 9.5/10 Lost .5 points because of the fried rice. What a beautiful spot!!! Apologies for no pictures I tend to forget when on a date.
