Highlights: service is always quick here. The food is fresh and the place is very clean. The price is pretty average, you're gonna spend this amount if you're getting fresh poke. Imagine this: you're settling in, excited for a fresh poke bowl, only to discover a clump of hair tangled in your food. Not a strand. Not a single rogue hair. A clump. I didn't sign up for a side of someone's DNA. To top it off, they got my order wrong. I ordered no tofu but I guess I'm glad they added it as I begin to pull them out and it made the clunk of hair easier to see. However, I consumed some of the food!! Absolutely disappointed! I came one day and ordered to go and found the ahi tuna was so fishy and warm! Next day I came back and noticed their refrigerator with protein was not cold at all. Not even sitting on ice! I voiced my concerns to employees who did not care and continued to serve customers raw fish that was not cold. Anything below 40 degrees is a health violation and food is not safe! It will give people salmonella poisoning and could kill you! I have come to learn that Oceanside/Vista Yelp reviews are quite deceiving compared to southern San Diego or the Bay Area. The quality of the fish tasted stale, the imitation crab looked old with no flavor and the pineapple tasted like it was washed out from a Dole Fruit cup. When I pick a 4 star Poke place, I expect the ingredients to be decent enough to deserve the rating. The customer service was great and there was nothing wrong or dirty about the restaurant. I've been eating at this place since last year and it's DEFINITELY my go-to poki place. They have everything I look for in a poki place, which aren't found everywhere. Like seared ahi tuna (tuna tataki, essentially), masago, (amazing) spicy imitation crab, tempura crisp and nori. These are things that aren't found everywhere so that's why no matter where I try poki, I can't help but compare it to this place lol. Been coming for so long and have been helped by different staff. It's always a pleasant experience every time. But today I finally remembered to write a review and what reminded me to do so was the great service I experienced a few minutes ago. A staff member named Tammy (spelling?) helped me out today and it was a pleasant experience as always. She was really friendly and made conversation with me (which I reciprocated) and it was a good time while she helped me with my 3 orders (sorry, Tammy lol). I knew it had to be good because it was busy at 3:00pm...no one eats at 3:00pm. I gave 4 stars for a few reasons... Too much rice...I love rice...but it was overwhelming (okay, not really, but you get the idea) The seaweed salad was funky...I love seaweed salad and almost paid for a second scoop...glad I didn't. Lastly, even though I had spicy mayo and eel sauce put on my bowl, there was a lack of flavor.
