Note: this location is the Carlsbad location and NOT in La Jolla (the menu is different between the two). There are a number of reviews and menus we saw online that were for the La Jolla location. We came here on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy and we were able to seat inside. There is no outside seating. We placed our order at the counter and found a seat to sit inside. We placed an order at the counter and the food arrived at our table in a reasonable amount of time. We ordered the tea leaf salad, fried rice, street noodles, and spring rolls. All the dishes were delicious. The tea leaf salad was a smaller portion so keep that in mind if you are eating family style and sharing with others. We will definitely return since everything was delicious. There's a decent amount of parking in the parking lot. They also do takeout as we
We've been wanting to try Cherry Blossom and glad that we finally did. The service was friendly l and fast (via QR code) and the food was delicious. Brings me back to eating Burmese food back in LA. My husband got the OG poke bowl and he said it was fresh and tasty. We also shared the tea leaf salad and Khao Soi which was very flavorful. The restaurant space is small, but very serene. Enjoyed trying them out and will definitely be back!
We gave this restaurant a shot since I haven't found a good Burmese restaurant in Carlsbad. The ambiance was nice. The chef/server was very nice. The food was ok. For people who haven't tasted Burmese food, this is a pretty good representation of what it should be. I have just had much better food in other places. We were the only people in the restaurant. We were told that they were planning to close soon but at least 3 parties walked in about 15-20 mins after us and they were there for much longer than what the chef had initially said regarding the closing time. The menu is limited but has the basics. There is no alcohol. We ordered the tea leaf salad, street noodles with chicken and Burmese curry with paratha. The tea leaf salad was more like Indian bhel. It was ok. I have had much better salads in other restaurants. It also had fish sauce in it which we were not aware of, and my poor friend ended up having an upset stomach (she is allergic to seafood). That was disappointing because I had specified that we don't want seafood in the street noodles, so I would have liked to be told about the fish sauce. We were asked how spicy the salad should be. We chose 6. It was not spicy. The street noodles were good. The normally come with shrimp and I asked for a replacement. I was told it would come with chicken, so I expected chicken pieces. Instead, we got a grilled chicken leg, which was a little difficult to eat. It didn't really go with the noodles because it wasn't tossed in the same sauce. I should've just ordered the noodles without the meat component. There are two items on the menu - potato curry with paratha and Burmese curry with rice. When asked about the difference, we were told it is the same thing, just a difference in the side. That makes no sense! Then why name it differently? The curry was good - had a homemade feel to it, nice blend of spices and a good portion. The naan was ok..I would have liked it to be thicker and softer. All in all, there are elements of the food which have promise. If you have never tried Burmese food, this is a good option. But the food isn't as good as my previous experiences. Pricing wise, it is Carlsbad pricing. So, I think we paid a little more than I would have liked, for the food.
In response to the business manager response: -Cherry Blossom confirmed our order at 718pm -we drove all the way over there and waited until 740pm only to find that Cherry Blossom closed EARLY with no notice -had to reach out and call Doordash and got our refund when your store "closes" at 8pm Ultimately you confirmed our order and then decided to close early with no notice. Do better. you've got to be kidding me. we placed a doordash order for pickup, it was confirmed, came to pick up and the lights are all off, no one is inside, snd the door is locked.
Ambiance..nicely set tables and cute. Its near lowes and the gas station. Service..fast ans friendly Food..loved the flavor and good quantity. Got the seasoned tofu and Burmese noodles and chai tea. Loved it all and not too spicy.
Visited Carlsbad and stayed at a Hilton nearby and found this restaurant. We went on a weeknight and it was not busy. Service was great. Food was delicious. Place is on the smaller side with comfortable seating. The noodles is a must try, our kids love the sushi hand rolls. Would recommend this place. 10/10
Wow. The owner was so friendly in greeting us and knowing it was our first time even offered us a Thai iced tea on the house. Does that bias my view of the food? Maybe, but I really believe the ICONIC tea leaf salad was named that for a reason. The tea flavor really carried through the whole salad. I definitely recommend it. My partner got the OG ahi tuna poke. He was surprised by the apple but pleasantly so as it mixed well with the sauce and fish. If you're in the area, definitely come check them out!
My husband, son, and I ate here on Sunday for lunch and we loved it! Unique flavors (to us) and the service was great. The owner was so nice and explained all the dishes to us. The tea leaf salad was really good, crunchy, savory, with a hint of sweetness. This place is definitely worth a try if you've never had Burmese food befo
Looking your Burmese food fix in North County? I found this place in Carlsbad! I had to get the tea leaf salad, because it is sooo good! I also got the chicken & potatoes curry, too. This was also good! There aren't that many Burmese places in San Diego, so was happy to see this one closer to home! Need to go back and get try their other dishes.
The doors may open a little behind schedule due to minimal staffing, but this place is absolutely worth the wait. We enjoyed the Thai tea, Burmese fried rice, golden coconut khao soi, and spicy garlic ahi poke. The flavors were fresh and vibrant, the portion sizes were generous, and the prices are completely reasonable in a time where you can spend an arm and a leg to barely fill up. Highly recommend this place!
Stopper here to grab lunch, to go, because I had an appointment in the area. It was recommended to try the Burmese Street Noodles since it was a popular item, which I order with shrimp. The flavor was very good, both noodles and shrimp cooked well, and the service was friendly and fast. As good as it was, the shrimp were very small for $25 meal, and there was nothing else included besides scallions, so the value for noodles and small shrimp wasn't there for me.
I fell in love with the Spicy Garlic Ahi Poke Bowl at Cherry Blossom Burmese Cafe in Carlsbad. This poke bowl transported me to Hawaii because it was very comparable to the bowls there. Their spicy garlic sauce bursted with flavor and the ahi was so fresh. I appreciated how simple the fix-ins were, like in Hawaii, so that all the attention is on the fish and sauce. I loved that there were apple slices because they added a nice crunch and flavor! I'll be back to try some of their Burmese dishes and highly recommend this restaurant!
I came here for dinner and dined in, the atmosphere was relaxed and perfect for getting a bit of work done while enjoying my meal. The food came out super fast and was absolutely delicious! I ordered the 2 paratha chicken curry potato dish, and it hit every note... hearty, comforting, and full of real spice and flavor. I wasn't feeling 100% that day, and this dish honestly left me feeling cared for. The man who took my order was so kind and checked in to make sure everything was great. I'll definitely be back, this spot has officially become one of my new favorites!
Cherry Blossom owners are very hard working people. They are both the cook and the hostess! Wow!! Friday nights are quiet. Ambiance is clean and decor is bright and pleasant. Food was nice and portions are on the smaller size. Signature iconic Tea Leaf Salad, WANGS, and Veggie roll (fried). read more
CHERRY BLOSSOM is a total mom and pop place: auntie's in the kitchen. uncle's working the front of the house. simple, straightforward menu featuring Burmese favorites (and several poke bowls). had lunch with my nineteen-year-old son. he had the CHICKEN and POTATO CURRY and raved about it. I had the GOLDEN COCONUT KHAO SOI with chicken. am more familiar with Thai versions and enjoyed contrasting similar dishes across two different food cultures. would characterize the Burmese dishes as less hardy (more soupy, less stewy) and more subtly flavored. skipped the all-time classic TEA LEAF SALAD so I have a ready excuse to revisit. read more

Honestly this was one of the BEST meals I've had in such a long time, I had to come and tell everyone about it. If you're considering visiting this gem, just do it! I was kind of bummed that I was the only person dining for lunch, they honestly deserve a crowd. The food and service was 10/10. The setup is really cute on the inside as well and I was able to sit comfortably at a table with my daughter's stroller right next to me. Upon entering, I was greeted right away. I already knew that I wanted to order the Khao Soi because I had looked up their menu and pictures way before coming in and it looked like their specialty. I ordered an iced jasmine green tea as well and chose a table to sit at. The woman who took my order was really nice and helpful with ordering. My food didn't take long to come out, and it was DELICIOUS. This was my first time trying this dish so I didn't know what to expect but it was everything and more. It was topped with what I think was fried onion and chili crisp as well for some added spice. The tea was also so delicious, the crushed ice they use is my favorite. The tea was garnished with an orange slice and my toddler decided to much on it. The woman who took my order noticed my daughter eating the orange slice and she brought me out a couple more on the side. You really don't experience that level of customer service anymore, so it was such a sweet gesture. They have a lot of other things on their menu that I would love to come back and try. I also used the restroom before leaving and it was super clean. I honestly have no complaints whatsoever and I hope this business continues to thrive! read more

Okay so normally I don't like places that try to do too many things at once cause how could it all be that good? Well this place does. The kao soi curry noodle dish, the tea leaf salad, and the poke bowl are all fabulous. What a gem. They also have a nice interior design and they are always so kind and efficient. Ps the combo poke had a nice crunch to it and it was green apple chunks. Omg game changer. Would never think to add that in poke but now I want that all the time! read more

*DON'T PASS THIS GEM UP!!* This new Burmese restaurant hits all the right spots for a uniquely delicious Southeast Asian experience whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We ordered nearly half of the menu, and it came out warm and quick! Art spent the time to talk with us, customize any orders, and just generally gave the place such a warm energy. The music was chill and the seating was comfortable-- my family and I talked about how we could've stayed here for hours! P.S. I would've taken more photos, but we scarfed everything down so quickly! read more

I imagine this place gets pretty busy during the weekdays during lunch time. We went on Sunday around noon. Were able to sit down and have food within 15 minutes. Lumpia made in-house. Well seasoned. I LOVED the street noodles. I had to stop myself. It was so darn good. The curry, loved the soup part. Wife loved it. Pop in and support a local business. Your tastebuds will thank you! read more

my first time trying burmese food and it was great!!!!! i recommend the tea leaf salad and the khao soi. service is attentive and friendly. i always dine in and am lucky to grab a table (there's usually only 3-4 tables, but i'm sure they can accommodate). read more
This new restaurant is amazing. The food is great; the staff is friendly and helpful; the vibe is casual, but nice. I ordered the spicy garlic salmon poke bowl and it was delicious. The level of heat was just perfect enough to leave my mouth warm, but not fry my taste buds. You gotta like garlic if you order this bowl, but it is tempered with lots of other fruits and veggies so it tastes really fresh. But the star of this bowl is the big chunks of salmon. They don't skimp when it comes to the fish. And to top it all off, is a beautiful fresh orchid. So classy! I also got the Burmese tea, which is a cross between Thai iced tea and chai. It was a perfect compliment to my bowl. The staff is super nice and helpful. If you are looking for a different twist on Asian food, you gotta check out this new restaurant. I highly recommend it. read more

It's great to have another Burmese restaurant in San Diego county! Can't help but compare this to Burma Place in RB. The service was great, and the ambiance was nice. We tried: * Tea Leaf Salad: very good, add a little bit more lemon to kick it up a notch * Khao Soi: similar to the Thai version but nuttier/creamier due to their secret ingredient. Our fave dish * Street Noodles: not bad, but not super flavorful * Samoas: curry potatoes and peas - excellent and loved both the * Spicy Garlic Wings: excellent sauce read more

Burmese food is one of our favorite cuisines but it's pretty hard to find. We were so excited to check out this place that opened down the road from us in Carlsbad. It's a super cute little spot nestled in a strip mall with a few other eateries, with seating indoors and out. The owner is so sweet, taking the time to pass out samples and explain the cuisine to passersby. Several customers from the nearby tech offices came in for quick business lunches and it seems to already be a favorite. We tried: Samosa Rolls w/ housemate Sriracha Tea Leaf Salad, (MUST TRY!) Khao Soi (Burmese Style) Spicy Garlic Wings Chinese Donuts Burmese & Thai Teas We'd order all this again. It's so good! They also do poke bowls here too. But I just can't pass up the Khao Soi with wide rice noodles and rich coconut curry broth. read more

Cherry Blossom just opened. If you come soon, you will get a free beverage. M If you came to this area before. There was a Poke place here previously. The new owners, offer a twist from the previous owners. They put the Burmese style to it. I had the Spicy Garlic Salmon Poke. It's was as described. Each bite had a nice strong garlic hit, with zesty spice. The spice is not overwhelming, but after a while. You can feel it build up a little. Not to worry, there are a few bites of sweet apple in it. These apple cool down your pallet, and add a great contrast in flavor. Now I I'm not sure if they forgot to add, but I had to ask for ginger. This place has a clean, relaxed atmosphere. Simple and quiet. Con: I messed up on the checking the correct value of this business. Compared to the previous business. It is a little more expensive. The same type of bowl before was about $4 cheaper. I would have liked a little more Seaweed. I will come back and update my review. read more

Food is just too good. Love the coconut soup. Food is very filling so all these dishes are shareable! Coconut soup and the chai tea is my all time favorite for sure. The setting in this place is very peaceful too. I could see this restaurant being a cafe as well. I do want to try the sushi next time! read more

I'm so excited that we found this new Burmese restaurant -- especially because there aren't many good Asian restaurants in North County San Diego. Since we moved out of the Bay Area, we've really missed Burmese cuisine, and now we finally have this delicious spot nearby! We ordered the tea leaf salad, curry, and gyoza -- all very tasty. If I had to mention one thing, the curry was a little too salty for my taste, but the flavor was still excellent. We didn't want any caffeinated drinks, so they kindly made a special coconut beverage for us -- it was sweet and delicious! read more
