Came to this restaurant on the whim and boy did we not regret it!! My friends, husband, daughter, and I didnt have to wait long and was seated at the table within a few minutes. The server was super friendly and attentive throughout our whole dinner! We ordered the following: - Potstickers (I was inquiring if the free appetizer + soda was applicable for dinner and the server said no, but the potstickers are free for dinner as a special.. I believe that was how it went bc I couldnt hear as well) - It was so good! The crunch before getting to the juicy filling inside was so satisfying. We genuinely loved this dish + the dipping sauce it came with. - Som Tom - I love how it wasnt coated in a bunch of sauce and the papaya was extra crunchy!! We got the thai spice and our tongues were burning but it was soo good. The only suggestion we have is that we wouldve liked the papaya to be a bit more pickled to get more of a juicy sour taste! - Salmon Curry - This was on the special menu and my friend ordered it for his meal. I was in the area and had wanted to check this place out. I opted for the lunch special which consisted of an entree of choice, salad, egg roll, and drink. The service was decent. The food was just ok. I couldn't have the salad as it was topped with some dairy based dressing which caught me off guard as I've never seen that as a Thai spot. But after, tasting the hot egg roll appetizer & generous portioned entrees, it's worth the wait. Simple ambiance made up for by the food. If you are in a rush & the tables are full. You may want to eat nearby. But if you aren't in a hurry, give them your business cause the food is really good and affordable. I had the pineapple fried rice which has a bit of curry seasoning. This is a little find in Carlsbad! We wanted Thai food and we wanted it in this specific area, so we came here. The restaurant was empty on this Sat afternoon. We were a little apprehensive but decided to give it a shot anyway. We got seated immediately. The server was nice. Each table has a bell with buttons indicating "call" and "pay", which was unique and I wish more restaurants would adopt this. The Thai menu is pretty much standard. Their Lao menu has like 8 items. We ordered the drunken noodles from the Thai menu and Khao Poon or Vermicelli Curry Noodles from the Lao menu. Both plates were delicious but not super spicy. For next time, we will ask for a higher spice level. The drunken noodles was a proper stir fry with a lot of veggies and a mix of great flavors. The Curry Noodles was a bowl of coconut milk based soup with vermicelli, minced chicken and beef pieces and veggies. The bowl was a huge portion and would have sufficed 2 people. The drunken noodles was good for 1.5 people. Pricing wise, it is on par with Carlsbad. We will be back to try more options! read more

Tonight, we popped in, because the sushi restaurant next door had a long wait. We thought... "heck, we love Thai food." THE SERVICE... was horrendous. We had to ring a bell for anyone to come out from the kitchen. Perhaps its a one-person operation, like at BKK Thai, but the two places are like night and day. The waitress delivered one of two meals, and at that same time asked me again what I had ordered. WHAT?!?! At the end of our meal (if we can call it that), we again had to call for the bill. THE FOOD... was bland, like everything was boiled, rather than pan-seared. We had the Pad See Ew with beef (they were out of pork) and Drunken Noodle with chicken. The beef was dry and overcooked, while the chicken looked and tasted like remnants from God knows where. This is part of the same restaurant found in San Marcos, which have both made our DO NOT RETURN list. It's a small space with a 'fast food' feel. Very cute Thai spot. The interior is super cozy with a chill vibe. The location is next to a mall, and in this plaza has,pharmacy, banks, a gym, and coffee shops. My husband, our three kids, and I were the only ones in the restaurant for most of our meal on a Sunday night, but I hope that's not an indication as to how their business is doing. VERY disappointing second visit to Kinaly Lao and Thai Eatery. totally different experience except that the server (a different one this time) was another good hire with next to no (if any) training. somebody in management needs to spend time getting the front of the house up to speed. ordered the LAO SAUSAGE. seriously overcooked and dry. compare the portion size in the restaurant posted photo on their Yelp page to mine. came up a bit short to be kind. the menu description (with my spelling corrections) says "served with ginger, red chilies, sticky rice, and tomato sauce." see any ginger? see any chilies? had to ask three times for the tomato sauce and when it finally arrived, did not compare favorably with the tomato sauce from our first visit in taste or texture. I'm from the less is better, light dressing school of salads but their LARB GAI was dry. no lime juice, no fish sauce, no palm sugar, just a little toasted rice powder. mint leaves (an essential flavor in Larb Gai) that litter the menu photo were conspicuously absent. you know how when rice paper wrapped FRESH SPRING ROLLS are made ahead and get gummy and chewy? how hard would it be to make them to order? sometimes a little effort goes a long way. the MASSAMAN CURRY with tofu was just okay. if every other dish we ate was better, I might have said it was good but they weren't even close. ps: the couple behind us was thoroughly confused by the jasmine rice that came with her curry and the sticky rice that came with his fried pork ribs. the hostess/server should be able to explain to farang customers that jasmine rice is a side (Central Thai dishes) and sticky rice (Northern Thai, Issan, and Lao dishes) is more of a utensil. read more

It pains me to write this review, but I was really disappointed with my meal. I waited an unusually long time for my order, only to be underwhelmed by what I received. I ordered one of the curries with shrimp, and to my dismay, I found myself fishing for the shrimp in a 24oz container of sauce that had maybe about ten small shrimp. Also they forgot to give me my peanut sauce with the fresh spring rolls, I would of gone back from some but the parking in this center is horrible While the food quality is generally good, it was clear from my experience last night that the restaurant is understaffed and overwhelmed, even with just a handful of diners inside and a few takeout orders. I honestly wanted to do people a favor and tell them to go elsewhere, as I knew they were in for a long wait for both food and service. That said, I want to acknowledge the incredible effort of the young woman working the register, waiting tables, bussing tables, taking phone orders, and ringing up customers--all with a smile on her face. At one point, I even saw her making fresh lemongrass. Kudos to her--if you're reading this, I hope you find a job at a restaurant where you'll have more support and probably earn more in tips. We spent 30 bucks on this lunch special... We took it to go. We got home excites for the coconut shrimp and there was only 1 shrimp!!!!
