I've been looking for a new Thai spot and I wanted to stay close to home and came up on this place . Didn't look very busy on a Sunday so was almost nervous that it wasn't going to be good but I can't always just a book by its cover . The server with the short hair and glasses is so nice and so attentive. We sat down right away and started with wontons and spring rolls . Both were very good and the spring rolls tasted very fresh . My wife and I both had pad Thai but I had chicken and she had shrimp . It was so freaking good and the serving size was good as well. It came out hot and fresh , we honestly can't wait to come back . This may be our new spot we come to a couple times a month.

This is the BEST Thai restaurant in Carlsbad. The food, THE FLAVOR. They are not stingy with their portions, and the Thai tea is amazing!! I get the pad Thai with shrimp, and 3 flavor duck as my daily rotation here and will occasionally try other things. The restaurant is on the smaller side but VERY cozy. The service is great as well. If you do a pickup order, it's normally 20 mins but worth it every single time. I wanted to gatekeep this place but it was so good not to share. It's located in a plaza which is nice because there's always parking.

WOW! This is genuinely some of the best food and desserts I have ever had!! The service was amazing, so friendly, makes you want to come back just to chat! The amazing owner, Danny, made us feel like family. Everything was a 10/10, the Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Curry, Papaya Salad, and especially the homemade Mango Sticky Rice Ice Cream. Portions were big and so worth the price! The ice cream was so good we had to get a second one to go. The restaurant was very clean and so cutely decorated. Will come back again regularly!

I was in the area and had wanted to check this place out. I opted for the lunch special which consisted of an entree of choice, salad, egg roll, and drink. The service was decent. The food was just ok. I couldn't have the salad as it was topped with some dairy based dressing which caught me off guard as I've never seen that as a Thai spot. I had the cashew shrimp, and ordered med-hot and it was pretty mild, plus the flavors were lacking. My Thai tea was good though. Overall, decent place just not sure I'd be back.

Came to this restaurant on the whim and boy did we not regret it!! My friends, husband, daughter, and I didnt have to wait long and was seated at the table within a few minutes. The server was super friendly and attentive throughout our whole dinner! We ordered the following: - Potstickers (I was inquiring if the free appetizer + soda was applicable for dinner and the server said no, but the potstickers are free for dinner as a special.. I believe that was how it went bc I couldnt hear as well) - It was so good! The crunch before getting to the juicy filling inside was so satisfying. We genuinely loved this dish + the dipping sauce it came with. - Som Tom - I love how it wasnt coated in a bunch of sauce and the papaya was extra crunchy!! We got the thai spice and our tongues were burning but it was soo good. The only suggestion we have is that we wouldve liked the papaya to be a bit more pickled to get more of a juicy sour taste! - Salmon Curry - This was on the special menu and my friend ordered it for his meal. The salmon is deliciously crunchy when you first bite into it, and with the curry sauce, coconut milk was definitely heavy HOWEVER it balanced the salmon's taste & the curry so together it went very well together (This is from me as someone who doesn't really eat cooked salmon). He recommends it - Drunken Noodle - Eeep my husband and I shared this noodle dish and wow! It was so good. I love it so much - Eggplant dish - We also got this to share and its my FAVORITE version from any restaurant at this moment. The eggplant was cooked long + so soft with the sauce. The tofu as our protein was so yummy too!! It wasnt overall heavy on the sauce so I didnt feel like I was just eating oil! - New York Steak Garlic Fried Rice - Mkay this is our fave fave dish from the whole restaurant. The fried rice was so fluffy and the steak WITH the dipping sauce - wow dangerous combination bc it was so GOOD!! - Pad see you - My other friend got this dish and its overall really good. She ordered the CRISPY CHICKEN as the protein and wow!! ITS SO CRISPY. the crunch was heard. - Green Thai Tea (w/ coconut milk) - It was good however it definitely had a bitter aftertaste of tea.. It was mixed reviews from us because half of us liked the taste and the other half we preferred our thai tea really sweet. So this drink is definitely dependent on how bitter or sweet you like your thai tea. Overall the dishes we ordered to share was very tasty. Wish we had a recording of all the times we took our first bites and we were all like "wow." "YUM" We highly recommend this place and am going to keep coming back!!

Amazing food and great service! I got the steak with garlic fried rice (option to have it spicy) and it was delicious! Shrimp fresh rolls were a perfect appetizer. Can't wait to go back again and try something else!

We loved the lunch combo, and all the food we had! The cream cheese wontons were delicious but I would have preferred more crunch to cream cheese ratio- cream cheese was much heavier Pad Thai was delicious, panang and red curry. We tried all the thai drinks: coffee, tea, green tea. All were good, my preference was the Thai iced tea

This is a little find in Carlsbad! We wanted Thai food and we wanted it in this specific area, so we came here. The restaurant was empty on this Sat afternoon. We were a little apprehensive but decided to give it a shot anyway. We got seated immediately. The server was nice. Each table has a bell with buttons indicating "call" and "pay", which was unique and I wish more restaurants would adopt this. The Thai menu is pretty much standard. Their Lao menu has like 8 items. We ordered the drunken noodles from the Thai menu and Khao Poon or Vermicelli Curry Noodles from the Lao menu. Both plates were delicious but not super spicy. For next time, we will ask for a higher spice level. The drunken noodles was a proper stir fry with a lot of veggies and a mix of great flavors. The Curry Noodles was a bowl of coconut milk based soup with vermicelli, minced chicken and beef pieces and veggies. The bowl was a huge portion and would have sufficed 2 people. The drunken noodles was good for 1.5 people. Pricing wise, it is on par with Carlsbad. We will be back to try more options!

TRUST THOSE WHO YELP REGULARLY... I am very sad to post this review. Before the business was sold to this new family, it was extraordinary... Likely where all the good reviews came from. Tonight, we popped in, because the sushi restaurant next door had a long wait. We thought... "heck, we love Thai food." THE SERVICE... was horrendous. We had to ring a bell for anyone to come out from the kitchen. Perhaps its a one-person operation, like at BKK Thai, but the two places are like night and day. The waitress delivered one of two meals, and at that same time asked me again what I had ordered. WHAT?!?! At the end of our meal (if we can call it that), we again had to call for the bill. THE FOOD... was bland, like everything was boiled, rather than pan-seared. We had the Pad See Ew with beef (they were out of pork) and Drunken Noodle with chicken. The beef was dry and overcooked, while the chicken looked and tasted like remnants from God knows where. This is part of the same restaurant found in San Marcos, which have both made our DO NOT RETURN list. It's a small space with a 'fast food' feel. Nicely decorated and appeared clean (this is the one star). NOT RECOMMENDED

Friday night dinner was delicious. We had the crab fried rice, pad see you and pra ram. Everything was so good and we enjoyed every single bite. Service was good. The only thing I didn't "love" was the potstickers. We got to sit right away we didn't need a reservation. Restaurant was clean and love all the Christmas decorations. We will definitely enjoy another meal here.

Very cute Thai spot. The interior is super cozy with a chill vibe. The location is next to a mall, and in this plaza has, pharmacy, banks, a gym, and coffee shops. Plus, there's tons of parking in the plaza. The food? Absolutely delicious! So yummy. Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented--like, you'll want to take pics before you eat. The staff are friendly, funny, and happy to answer all your questions. They really made the experience even better. If you love Thai food (or just good food in general), you have to check this place out. Highly recommend!

I was kind of bummed that I was the only person dining for lunch, they honestly deserve a crowd. The food and service was 10/10. The setup is really cute on the inside as well and I was able to sit comfortably at a table with my daughter's stroller right next to me. Upon entering, I was greeted right away. I already knew that I wanted to order the Khao Soi because I had looked up their menu and pictures way before coming in and it looked like their specialty. I ordered an iced jasmine green tea as well and chose a table to sit at. The woman who took my order was really nice and helpful with ordering. My food didn't take long to come out, and it was DELICIOUS. This was my first time trying this dish so I didn't know what to expect but it was everything and more. It was topped with what I think was fried onion and chili crisp as well for some added spice. The tea was also so delicious, the crushed ice they use is my favorite. The tea was garnished with an orange slice and my toddler decided to much on it. The woman who took my order noticed my daughter eating the orange slice and she brought me out a couple more on the side. You really don't experience that level of customer service anymore, so it was such a sweet gesture. They have a lot of other things on their menu that I would love to come back and try. I also used the restroom before leaving and it was super clean. I honestly have no complaints whatsoever and I hope this business continues to thrive!

The restaurant is small, cozy, welcoming and aesthetically pleasing. It isn't well suited for larger parties as most tables are tables for 2 unless tables are pushed together. They do have patio seating and heaters outside, but it didn't appeal to me being so close to the street/loud traffic. Gabriel checked us in, seated us, took our order, served our food and waited on us for majority of our visit, I would give him 10 stars just on his impeccable service. The food though? The food was AMAZING!! Everything we ordered was the best we have ever had anywhere. The buns were very kawaii (and we ordered ever single one to try). The fillings were savory, but we also loved their seasonal panda bun with ube filling while the kids preferred the nutella bunny. Best chicken karaage we've had by far, the coating almost tasted like it was rolled in kinako powder. The ramen broth was "chef's kiss" with so much flavors, the crab rangoon were jumbo and the filling was delicious, but the chicken katsu was also the best we have had anywhere (including Hawaii). The breading was just top tier crunchy while the chicken was thick and juicy. There isn't one bad thing I could say about this place, from the service to the food, I would make the drive out here again. Super duper, highly recommend, don't sleep on this little place, you'll regret it!

Since I'm a lover of information, I looked up "Harumama". It's a combination of two words: the Korean word haru, which means "day," and "mama". Together, it translates to "mom's daily food". The name reflects the restaurant's mission to serve dishes prepared with the same love, care, and attention that a mother gives to her family's everyday meals. How lovely is that?! Anyhow, I was able to find street parking and walked into a clean dining space with a nice atmosphere. It wasn't too busy. Again, the staff was very attentive and provided stellar service. My food came out pretty fast. I loooved how my Drunken Noodles had the right amount of chicken and peanuts. Overall, another fun flavorful time. I'm still a Harumama fan. I always enjoy dining there with my family because they have good food that we can all enjoy together. Every year for my birthday I go to Gonzo! I simply love eating at Gonzo. First of all, I can't get over how scrumptious their food is, it is so tasty and packed with flavor. If you stand in line to order, as soon as you sit down you will have already been served. I don't know how Gonzo prepares their meals so fast, yet so delicious. Also the fact that they cook their food fresh daily is crazy to me. I've been to many ramen restaurants and no one compares to Gonzo's. My go to on the menu is the tonkotsu ramen with gyoza and chicken karaage. Gonzo also offers a very unique atmosphere that makes you feel like you're in Japan. They have waving cats, a big banana neon light, posters and a floating ball on top of the water station. The ball is so cool but I am still puzzled on how it works. Their decor can not be matched. They also have a TV that is always playing Anime. You can also sit inside or outside so if you feel like sitting inside, sit inside but if you want to sit outside, sit outside. Gonzo also does not offer reservations so there is always a place to sit. If there is nowhere to sit just get It to go, truly there is no other ramen stop better than Gonzo. Lastly, the people there are super nice, and always check up on you, they are very polite, and they always say your welcome. While you wait, you can enjoy your appetizers until your main meal arrives. Also if you ask them for a free ticket to their store, they will give you one, each member of the family gets one. You can go next door and trade them in for tokens, these tokens can be used to play claw machines so you can win stuff. But what tops that off is that all of the employees are welcoming and happy. Gonzo Ramen is the best restaurant in the world. They offer good food, an amazing atmosphere and the people there are super nice not to mention the location is very conveniently located near my house. I seriously think about Gonzo all the time. I want to start by saying that I very much enjoyed eating at Tabu Shabu. It's very fair to state…read morethat my three star experience is mostly my own doing more so than the restaurant itself. Our server was fantastic, the setup clean, and the menu was fairly easy to navigate. Where it fell apart for me all came after that. This is not my style of cooking. So many places I've been to, where you cook your own food on a grill or hot plate at your table, you're mainly dealing with thin cuts of meat, salt and pepper, and possibly a dipping sauce. This makes the cooking simple, a quick sear, a light crust on the beef or pork, and the finished product is basic and delicious. Shabu, though ... it's boiled meat. That's not to say that Tabu Shabu isn't good, but unless you're really adept at making soups, it's easy to be completely out of your element. And I can safely say I was a bit over my head at this restaurant. You start with your broth, where I am ashamed to admit that instead of opting for the Tonkostu with its deep and rich fatty flavor, I chose the basic umami of the White Miso. Because of that, I spent most of my meal mistakenly chasing flavors I would normally find in a Ramen Shop. They give you a plate of chopped herbs to add and some basic instructions ... I like garlic, so I added the whole thing, radish sound alright, so add in the whole ball, what was the last thing I put in? They give you a few squeeze bottles of oils with paper labels ... this one makes it more sour, this one makes it more spicy, this one has sesame, and I'm too timid to add enough of any to truly add to the flavor of the broth, so it just keeps that basic umami flavor without being as salty as it should be. Then you have a plate of vegetables to steep in your creation. Cabbage, broccoli, spinach, bok choy, tofu ... all of it serves as a way of soaking up that broth you've made. Other options, like the carrots, mushrooms, and squash, become sweet and tender after taking their turns in the pot. And they're nice as they offer a different flavor other than that umami. And then there's the meat. A wide variety of options ranging from salmon, to chicken, to pork, all the way down to multiple versions of beef. But, all of the meats we ordered seem to differ only in texture after spending some time in that broth. Some fell apart on the tongue, some still had a nice chew, but all shared that umami from the pot, with an aftertaste of beefy flavor before swallowing. After a few initial pieces, I found myself thankful for the dipping sauces to distract me from how boring I had made my broth to be. You also get a choice of rice, which I don't think you really need. You get a choice of noodles, which they give you a good amount where it doesn't fill you up with carbs. And anything left over is readily bagged up to eat at home after the flavors mix together and mature. In the end, it's a very filling and fairly healthy meal. I think it's difficult to not compare this to eating a bowl of Pho or Ramen. All the ingredients are there, just instead of eating it with a spoon, you pull out the individual bits with some chop sticks and pretend you're not eating boiled beef and spinach. If I were a better cook, or had another ten visits worth of practice, Tabu Shabu could easily be 4-5 stars. As it is, though, I think I would rather just go to GONZO and get another chef's creation to be sure of the flavors I want. Regardless, I want to come back here and try again one day. The variety of options and the wait staff alone are enough for me to learn more and expand my Shabu options, as well as recommend this place to others.

Everything like the decor, food and especially the customer service was exactly how it was the last time we went, so that in itself was impressive. The employees are so kind and efficient and Trina is the absolute best. Even after not being there in a long time, she remembered us and what we usually order! She is amazing. We ordered our Pho's, Spring rolls and my usual Bun Bo Hue. Every dish continues to be so delicious and full-flavored. Nothing lacking. We also ordered Thai teas which was refreshing and so tasty. It's always a hit when we go. We'll be back!

Everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a great meal. They even boxed up our leftovers for us which was such a thoughtful touch and treated us with some free desserts since it was a holiday. The restaurant itself is very clean and has a nice ambiance. The food was absolutely delicious and tasted very authentic. We loved the Vietnamese dishes since that's our ethnicity. But it's great that they also offer some Chinese and Thai options on the menu. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful and clearly made with care. One thing that really stood out was how accommodating they were to my mom, who is diabetic. They kindly substituted extra vegetables in place of noodles for her without any issues. We really appreciated their willingness to help and make sure she could enjoy her meal. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality and excellent food. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town and can't wait to try more dishes from the menu!

I honestly can't recommend Pho Central in Carlsbad enough. After trying a lot of different pho…read morerestaurants around North County, this has easily become one of my favorite spots. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels clean, welcoming, and relaxed, and the staff makes you feel like you're genuinely appreciated as a customer instead of just another order. The first thing that stood out to me was the pho. The broth has that rich, comforting flavor that you can tell comes from taking the time to prepare it properly instead of rushing it. It's clean, aromatic, and full of flavor without being overly salty or greasy. The noodles always have a great texture, and the meat is fresh and tender. Whether you order the rare steak pho, chicken pho, or the special combination pho, every bowl is satisfying and comes with generous portions. The appetizers are just as impressive. The egg rolls come out hot and perfectly crispy, while the fresh spring rolls taste incredibly fresh and pair perfectly with the peanut sauce. Their bánh mì sandwiches are another hidden gem--the bread has a nice crisp exterior while staying soft inside, and the fillings are flavorful and well-balanced. If you're not in the mood for soup, the grilled pork vermicelli bowls and broken rice plates are also excellent choices. One thing that really separates Pho Central from other restaurants is the service. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing. You can tell they genuinely care about making sure customers have a great experience. The food comes out surprisingly fast, even when they're busy, and everything is presented neatly. The restaurant itself is spotless and has a cozy, comfortable atmosphere that makes it easy to relax whether you're grabbing a quick lunch or eating with friends or family. There's plenty of parking nearby, and the location is convenient while still feeling like a local hidden gem. The prices are also very fair, especially considering the quality of the food and the portion sizes. It's becoming harder to find restaurants that consistently deliver fresh ingredients, authentic flavors, great service, and reasonable prices all in one place, but Pho Central does exactly that. If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese food in Carlsbad, this place absolutely deserves a visit. It's clear why so many locals keep coming back. Between the flavorful pho, delicious appetizers, fresh ingredients, welcoming staff, clean restaurant, and overall attention to detail, Pho Central has earned every one of its five stars. I'll definitely keep coming back, and I highly recommend it to anyone craving amazing Vietnamese food. This is one of those restaurants that you find once and then keep recommending to everyone you know.
