Definitely the best Thai food I've had in North County! Chiim is a quaint spot tucked away in an unassuming plaza. They've got pretty limited seating (including both indoor & outdoor tables), so you can expect a bit of a wait during busier hours. We got the Gailan + Crispy Pork Belly and the Drunken Noodle (with chicken). Everything was so yummy! Veggies were crunchy, proteins were tender and juicy, and flavors were flavoring. It hit the spotttt. I'm docking off a star here for the service. They're super understaffed and frantic. The food here was excellent! The dining area is rather small and all the surfaces are hard so it's pretty loud in the restaurant. We went to celebrate my daughter and her best friend's graduation and just kind of talk about their accomplishments and look forward to their journey in college. However, some of the people in the restaurant were so loud it was almost impossible to have a conversation. They have two very small tables outside that could be used to dine but we had a party of five so that wouldn't work. I would say it's great to dine outside outside of the noisy dining area. Food was also very reasonably priced so I do recommend this restaurant highly! Staff and service was just fine! read more

Best Thai food I've had in along time. I ordered the spring rolls & Pad Se Ew. It was made quick and was hot and delicious. I ordered it medium spicy, and it wasn't spicy at all so I will definitely order it spicier next time! The restaurant is small, cute and clean. You can dine in or out. We had seen this place driving by several times and never stopped until recently. We usually frequent Ocean Thai but wanted to give this place a try. We were pleasantly surprised. Service wasn't great when we walked in, one cashier and server and the restaurant seemed very busy with pick up orders. There weren't many people dining in and we waited a while for drinks and even a chance to order. After ordering though, our food took about average time to arrive. Our plates came out before our kids dish and we would have liked the reverse to have happened. Their lychee lemonade was fantastic! We tried the Thai tea with oat milk and it was good but nothing special. The drunken noodle was good but what we loved was the holy basil with tofu. I really liked the crunch and flavoring of the green beans. Our girls shared the house fried rice w/out egg to be vegan with extra tofu. We also asked for extra white rice. Our girls were happy with their food. Oh, and we also ordered the veggie crispy rolls and they were good. I liked how their vegan was marked with what could be made vegan so it eliminated having to ask. The mango sticky rice was the only thing we had to ask about as far as if it was vegan or not. We preordered, first call I was on hold a long time, over 5 mins but I could hear he was working with a customer then possibly forgot. Two babies were crying in the background so I imagine he was distracted. No worries we called back and they took our order. Was super simple. And he was so nice to remind me to remind him of spice on the side once I arrive. I did. Hubby and I watched the sunset from our car as a mini date. Food wasnt messy, perfect for a little date at the beach! Hubby ate pad Thai and was better than other Thai in Oceanside. Much better. But that's not my repeat. Such a cute place for Thai food! I wanted to go here specifically bc they use Chinese brocolli in their pad see ew noodle dish as other places in the area tend to use American brocolli! This is how I personally determine how authentic a Thai place is but thats just me lol. The ladies were really nice even though we came in pretty close to closing time. Wonderful! We were in Vista and did a search for thai food nearby, and Chiim Thai in Oceanside showed up. Glad we decided to go for it, because it was a delicious experience. We were seated immediately, and ordered the Lychee Lemonade, Crispy Rolls, Pad Thai with Chicken, and Drunken Noodle with Shrimp. Their spice levels are "mild, medium, spicy" instead of the number system other Thai restaurants use. We went with "medium" and it had a really good kick. We were sweating by the end of our meal, but it was the good (flavorful) kind of heat. The drinks and food were beautifully presented. If you like lychee, do not skip the lemonade. Worth it. Everything was fresh and delicious. Most of the menu items had options to be made vegetarian, too. It's a small little restaurant, super cozy, great date spot. They have a few small tables set up outside, too. We'll definitely be making the trek from Escondido to Oceanside for this restaurant in the future. read more

I ordered a chicken pad thai for pick up. When I got home to my surprise I opened my food and I got burnt chicken pad thai. Immediately I could see the darker color and the only taste I could get when eating it was bitter,burnt food. I gave this place a try since I know they open within the last year and wanted to support them. I will be sticking to my regular place, Ocean thai. Yesssss! Finally a good Thai spot in the Tri City area. We had some decent options in Carlsbad before there was an ownership change, but nothing like this. Everything we got was as good as it was in San Diego metro. We ordered takeout. Everything was packaged securely. Papaya salad was fresh and just the right marinade. Drunken noodles with chicken was as expected, but with a generous protein serving. Penang beef was their specialty, and was one of the best Penang curries I've had. Made a spontaneous visit here for dinner and they did not disappoint. Although the place is small, it packs a mighty punch with the Thai cuisine. As per the recommendations of many people, I decided to give CHIIM THAI KITCHEN a try. It's a small family-owned Thai restaurant that is a hole-in-the-wall in a plaza. They are located on Mission Ave & El Camino Real in the inland region of Oceanside California. I ordered their BASIL CHICKEN FRIED RICE and it was a great portion size and had spectacular flavor! I highly recommend that you customize the spice heat level on it if you're sensitive to heat. They have great control over the heat levels too. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. They aren't typically too crowded inside and that's a good thing, because the interior is VERY small. I think there's enough seating for 20 people max. But this leads to a very personalized experience; you will never be neglected. Their parking lot is shared with the shopping center and there's typically spots available facing the street. I'm no expert on Thai food, but the flavors were phenomenal and hit the spot! Chiim Thai may be my new place to go for Thai food in San Luis Rey Oceanside. The menu is incredibly easy to navigate, with a simple layout but a variety of options to suit your appetite. The layout is also very simple as the tables are setup in a shotgun style format with a single line from the entrance to the back. It was less than 5 minutes from ordering our appetizer to having it arrive. I recommend the Chicken Puff for a very savory treat before your meal. For dinner we each had Pad Thai, one order with chicken and another with pulled pork. Each came out at the perfect temperature and exactly at the desired spice level. Points to my server for giving me "Thai spicy hot" by request, and confirming that I wanted this extra level of hot, because I welcome and encourage very spicy hot Thai. The meals were the perfect size for us to be full and to have leftover to take home once we finished. Our server Apple was a delight. She took care of us from start to finish. On top of being incredibly friendly, she made sure every part of our meal was exactly as requested and that we were happy overall. She really made our dinner memorable. So there was a little bit of a revolving door at this location between the last Thai restaurant and Chiim. I really did love the previous owner. I was definitely worried about what would come afterwards, but I did not worry for a very long because the food here is excellent! Don't hesitate just come! I definitely have long bouts of hiatus when it comes to Yelp reviews, but after tonight's meal, I just couldn't help myself and wanna share what a success this place is and has been and it has a really bright future ahead. I am very fortunate enough to be able to speak Thai and the one place I get to practice is here. The service is amazing whether I'm speaking Thai while ordering my meal in Thai or I'm speaking English. The owner and the staff aim to please as they always react to you when you walk in and they're constantly making sure people are OK while receiving phone calls and people walking in to pick up their food. For the restaurant itself it does feel a little tiny, but it feels crowded enough to feel fun to be in. It has definitely picked up pace since it's opened but I absolutely love it and I'm really happy for them. So the dishes themselves well they're delicious! My go to is always Pad See Ew and it is a 10 out of 10!! My absolute favorite right now is their gaprao, which is minced chicken with basil, red bell pepper and green onions. It is served next to a bed of rice with a fried egg on top. It is to die for and I would eat it every day if I could! I have also had their Pad Thai, Tom Kha Gai, Drunken noodles, Basil fried rice and they are all A+ dishes! I would say that the cook pays very close attention to the texture the taste, and the temperature of all the dishes! Wow! Another awesome thing that they do is they serve Thai tea there with oat milk! Definitely a different take and if you want to half-and-half, then they do that as well, of course. But it is refreshing with oat milk and I really like it. It's a dish that truly satisfies and leaves a lasting impression. Crispy pork belly, rice with an awesome texture and char from the wok. No frills or hiding with a lot of ingredients and add-ons. Simple goodness. The Tom Kha soup is creamy, rich, and bursting with flavor, very aromatic. For appetizers, the crispy garden rolls were a good surprise: interesting balance, feeling like a delicious cross between a crispy vegetable egg roll and a Vietnamese chả giò. While the noodle dishes are good and certainly tasty, they tend to be a bit more "run off the mill" from a taste and flavor profile. Good, not wow. Finally, mango sticky rice... see that everywhere, right? Well not like this one: there is a super interesting originality with a hint of salt that really helps making it memorable, striking a savory/sweet balance I had not seen before. i had a pleasant experience at chiim thai! they were able to accommodate for vegans so i ordered a vegan pad kee mao. this pad kee mao is honestly the best that i have had, flavor was amazing and noodles are very soft. my party also got the mango sticky rice which was solid. i would def recommend coming with a moderate sized party to share dishes/to try lots of different things, because i had my one dish and split the mango sticky rice and it was quite expensive. service was friendly. ambiance is very nice! def seems like a date night spot - inside, space is a bit limited but i think its because this place makes do with what they have. rating a 4 out of 5 for its excellent food, and only dinking a star off because of the price and small space. excited to see this place grow! read more
