Excellent, fresh, and authentic Thai food! I was looking for a Thai restaurant around the neighborhood. This spot is small and is a hole in the wall. I'm no expert on Thai food, but the flavors were phenomenal and hit the spot! We got the Lao papaya salad (sweet and spicy fish sauce with crunchy papaya), yellow curry with duck (the duck had perfect crispy skin; the curry was creamy with spice), and crab-fried rice. All dishes were so tasty! Only the salad was ordered with mild heat. The curry was mild already. I'm not a big fan of spicy food, so the heat was tolerable and good for plenty of bites. Wonderful! We were in Vista and did a search for thai food nearby, and Chiim Thai in Oceanside showed up. Glad we decided to go for it, because it was a delicious experience. We were seated immediately, and ordered the Lychee Lemonade, Crispy Rolls, Pad Thai with Chicken, and Drunken Noodle with Shrimp. Their spice levels are "mild, medium, spicy" instead of the number system other Thai restaurants use. We went with "medium" and it had a really good kick. We were sweating by the end of our meal, but it was the good (flavorful) kind of heat. The drinks and food were beautifully presented. If you like lychee, do not skip the lemonade. Worth it. Everything was fresh and delicious. Most of the menu items had options to be made vegetarian, too. It's a small little restaurant, super cozy, great date spot. So excited for a new thai spot to be in town! The restaurant is pretty small - has about 8-9 tables BUT it's worth the wait. We (group of 3 adults and 1 baby) got seated pretty quickly and ordered the papaya salad as a starter. Omg the salad was so good! The spice level was amazing! It got us spicy lovers hitttt with a boom. We ordered thai tea and it was so good. Very creamy! My friend ordered the pad see ew and wow, I need to order it next time because it was the best! As per the recommendations of many people, I decided to give CHIIM THAI KITCHEN a try. It's a small family-owned Thai restaurant that is a hole-in-the-wall in a plaza. They are located on Mission Ave & El Camino Real in the inland region of Oceanside California. I ordered their BASIL CHICKEN FRIED RICE and it was a great portion size and had spectacular flavor! I highly recommend that you customize the spice heat level on it if you're sensitive to heat. They have great control over the heat levels too. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. They aren't typically too crowded inside and that's a good thing, because the interior is VERY small. I think there's enough seating for 20 people max. But this leads to a very personalized experience; you will never be neglected. Their parking lot is shared with the shopping center and there's typically spots available facing the street. So there was a little bit of a revolving door at this location between the last Thai restaurant and Chiim. I really did love the previous owner. I was definitely worried about what would come afterwards, but I did not worry for a very long because the food here is excellent! Don't hesitate just come! I definitely have long bouts of hiatus when it comes to Yelp reviews, but after tonight's meal, I just couldn't help myself and wanna share what a success this place is and has been and it has a really bright future ahead. I am very fortunate enough to be able to speak Thai and the one place I get to practice is here. The service is amazing whether I'm speaking Thai while ordering my meal in Thai or I'm speaking English. The owner and the staff aim to please as they always react to you when you walk in and they're constantly making sure people are OK while receiving phone calls and people walking in to pick up their food. For the restaurant itself it does feel a little tiny, but it feels crowded enough to feel fun to be in. It has definitely picked up pace since it's opened but I absolutely love it and I'm really happy for them. So the dishes themselves well they're delicious! My go to is always Pad See Ew and it is a 10 out of 10!! My absolute favorite right now is their gaprao, which is minced chicken with basil, red bell pepper and green onions. It is served next to a bed of rice with a fried egg on top. It is to die for and I would eat it every day if I could! I have also had their Pad Thai, Tom Kha Gai, Drunken noodles, Basil fried rice and they are all A+ dishes! I would say that the cook pays very close attention to the texture the taste, and the temperature of all the dishes! Wow! Chiim Thai may be my new place to go for Thai food in San Luis Rey Oceanside. The menu is incredibly easy to navigate, with a simple layout but a variety of options to suit your appetite. The layout is also very simple as the tables are setup in a shotgun style format with a single line from the entrance to the back. It was less than 5 minutes from ordering our appetizer to having it arrive. I recommend the Chicken Puff for a very savory treat before your meal. For dinner we each had Pad Thai, one order with chicken and another with pulled pork. Each came out at the perfect temperature and exactly at the desired spice level. Points to my server for giving me "Thai spicy hot" by request, and confirming that I wanted this extra level of hot, because I welcome and encourage very spicy hot Thai. The meals were the perfect size for us to be full and to have leftover to take home once we finished. Our server Apple was a delight. She took care of us from start to finish. On top of being incredibly friendly, she made sure every part of our meal was exactly as requested and that we were happy overall. She really made our dinner memorable. I was in the area and decided to check them out. It was pretty small inside and kinda busy when I arrived. I only saw 1 girl at the front handling the tables, guest entering and phones. I ordered the crab fried rice to go as that seemed to be the most popular dish. Once I got home, I took a few bites and it was really good had nice big chunks of crab which was nice. Sadly a few more bites later I kept getting a weird crunch sound and realized it was an egg shell. I was hoping that was just that bite, but sadly a few more bites later and still more weird crunch sound. It was hard to eat, and finally I had to throw the rest away. I ended up giving them a call just to notify them of the issue and hoped they would be more cautious for other dishes. The lady I spoke with was super kind and apologetic which was comforting. Overall, this dish was good, and I may give them a try again, but probably avoid egg dishes. read more

Simple goodness. The Tom Kha soup is creamy, rich, and bursting with flavor, very aromatic. For appetizers, the crispy garden rolls were a good surprise: interesting balance, feeling like a delicious cross between a crispy vegetable egg roll and a Vietnamese chả giò. While the noodle dishes are good and certainly tasty, they tend to be a bit more "run off the mill" from a taste and flavor profile. Good, not wow. Finally, mango sticky rice... see that everywhere, right? i had a pleasant experience at chiim thai! they were able to accommodate for vegans so i ordered a vegan pad kee mao. this pad kee mao is honestly the best that i have had, flavor was amazing and noodles are very soft. my party also got the mango sticky rice which was solid. i would def recommend coming with a moderate sized party to share dishes/to try lots of different things, because i had my one dish and split the mango sticky rice and it was quite expensive. service was friendly. ambiance is very nice! def seems like a date night spot - inside, space is a bit limited but i think its because this place makes do with what they have. rating a 4 out of 5 for its excellent food, and only dinking a star off because of the price and small space. excited to see this place grow! read more

So here's the thing... I used to go to the Thai spot that was here before, and I adored the sweet grandma + grandson duo that ran it. Their food was always so comforting. But wow... Chim Thai really stepped in with something wonderful of their own. The food was outstanding, the drunken noodles, the curry, and oh my gosh, the fried banana ice cream were just so good.
