Been going to Thai One On for 14 years. I know they have a new owner now, and I had a very good experience. The food I think was better than before. Me and my family always love the golden flower pastry appetiser, drunken noodles, panang curry, and the lamb chops here. One cool thing here is they have a full bar service; not just beer and wines like other restaurants. I think it's quiet in there and the ambience is dim, I love to read when I take myself out for dinner. I ordered golden flower pastries, drunken noodles with vegetables, and panang curry with chicken. Everything was fabulous, and the food came out quickly. Only thing I have to say is the Thai tea was a little sweet for me personally but that could just be me. Either way we will be back soon! And the story of coming here is funny (kinda ) my husband and I were argueing about what to eat for lunch and and everywhere we were driving by was closed for Easter so we're were like F*** it,let's go home. So I just closed my eyes and took a nap and when we parked I opened my eyes to see we were here. My hubby know how to cheer me up! And omg it was so good! There was ample parking. The resturaunt is next to a pho place and a nail salon. The resturaunt was nice,roomy,and clean. The staff was very nice and attentive. I can't wait to go back to try more menu items! read more

Previously I had always given my meals from Thai One On a five star rating but yesterday (5/8/26) I noted a decline in the quality of the sauce in the yellow curry with tofu dish. The sauce was actually quite watery. It's usually thick and rich or thicker and richer. The restaurant is always cute and welcoming and the service is always friendly and fast. I got my dinner to go, but I'm a little concerned about the sauce recipe changing maybe for cost cut backs or is this just a fluke? read more

I was in the area and wanted to check them out again, since I enjoyed the food the last time. Sadly this visit wasn't very good. The restaurant was practically empty and when I arrived it took awhile to get seated. I was able to use the restroom and still ended up waiting before someone came out of the back to seat me. Once my food arrived, let's just say I didn't see the server again for almost 30 minutes. I actually had to flag down one of the cooks who I think was going on their break to get the server just so I can pay. Again, there were maybe 1 or 2 other tables eating, but to be completely ignored was ridiculous. I get during slow times to have maybe 1 server, but at least have a server willing to work. Based on this last experience I'd rather check out other places that value their customers. read more

I came here last month for lunch. The Yellow Curry was delicious. But my favorite dish was the Tom Yum broth. It was so good I had my brother take me back on Friday night. The waitress was friendly and very up beat about the menu. She explained the different drinks that my brother asked about. Plum wine is not on the menu but I asked and they have it. I was given a nice size glass. I again had the Tom Yum soup and my brother loved it. I had the yellow curry again and it was just as good as last months. last time I had a level 3 so I tried.a 4 but it was not really that spicy. My sister-in-law had Pad Woon Sen with Shrimp at a level 5 and she said it was too hot. My brother had Drunken Noodles at a level 7. I watched him sweat like a pig. But he was in heaven. We all love spicy food but the difference between a 4 and 5 was where the heat really started. I tried it at a 5 and thought it was a bit hot but four was nothing to me. Everything was fine, no real complaints, but not a spot I would drive out of my way for a second time. The bartender was out and there was no one else available who could mix the drinks in their absence so only beers were available. The service was great and everyone who waited on us was really lovely. The menu has a lot of options and although there were no standouts everything was at least average for the area if not sometimes slightly better. Nothing ordered spicy had any heat, the wings were on the bland and greasy and overcooked side, but the meat was plentiful and the veg seemed fresh. This is a huge spot and definitely can accommodate a large group which isn't that common for Thai food, so that is for sure a benefit if you're dining en masse. It's cute inside too, in a way that's surprising for the stripmall sort of setting on the outside. read more

This is the first Thai restaurant I'd tried, and the food was great! I've tried lots of others since, but always wanting to go back here. The service always attentive, making sure we get what we wanted. The ambience was pretty good too. I'm so disappointed at this place. I order a rice plate with meat and veggies. This looked disgusting. Looks like they served me leftovers with no meat at all and very little veggies. Last week we were visiting friends in San Marcos and craving for some Thai food. It was on Sunday around lunchtime and the place was empty. There was only one table before us. We asked the waiter girl if boat noodles was available. She sounded annoyed by my question. We ordered Beef spicy fried rice level 6 and Drunken Noodles level 4. When the food was arrived, the drunken noodles was so burnt and broken into pieces. I even saw some chili paste between the noodles. The level 6 spicy fried rice was not spicy at all. I have no idea how this place isn't all 5 star reviews. Ingredients and taste are high quality. There are other cheaper Thai places that don't taste as good. The spice is pretty on point. I've only done takeout but everything I've ever gotten has been delicious, the service is great and everyone is super nice. I do like this place is pretty close to where I live and they have a pretty good selection of food. I usually come here during the evening or on the weekend and it's my go-to Thai place in Vista. Parking is pretty empty so there's no problem finding parking here. People here are really nice and it's never that crowded when coming here. The place itself is pretty big and spacious and I never had to wait for a long time to get my seat or for my food. I do like a lot of their food as I have been here many times. My go-to would be the Kua Kai Noodles, Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Drunken Noodles, or Thai Fried Rice. I will say their spice level can be a hit or miss where there are times that I get 8 but it's not spicy but 7 is super spicy. But overall, the food here is pretty good and it'll continue to be my go-to place to eat in Vista! read more

I am a regular at this fine restaurant - and very particular about how I like my Old Fashion made and the specific Rye whiskey. During a recent visit - the bartender apologized and said they had run out of my favorite brand. This made me sad. :-( - But only for a brief moment... The owner, Bill, overheard the conversation and immediately set off on foot to a nearby store and quickly returned with a bottle of my favorite brand. WOW!! Crisis obverted! Just opened a bigger space, very spaciously decorated. Live entertainment every night, loved the piano and vocals of Rose Winters! Had a chance to dance as well. But the star of tonight was Bryan, our bartender, server and bus boy. His drink recommendations were spot on and including making a "Bryan Mai Special", wowzer. He made sure our water glasses were full, drinks flowing and food was good. Food was incredible including the kitchen sink roll and wings as appetizers. Dinner was drunken noodles, pad see ew and massaman curry with pork. Awesome awesome awesome. My curry was thick and flavorful with tender pork and lots of potatoes. First time having pad see ew which was spicy, hearty and lots of veggies. Prices are high for specialty items but reasonable for the curries and appetizers. Dined in on a Saturday night. Not too busy in the restaurant, but a lot of people coming in to pick up to-go orders. A LOT of people ate Thai take out that night. The pad see yew was a bit saltier to our liking, but request the spicy tray and add the hot sauce from the jar to balance it out. So much better!! I enjoyed the fried rice, especially as leftovers. The black mushroom with tofu comes with rice. Nothing too special, but yummy. The spicy level 7 was not as overwhelming as it could be. This place was really good! All of the food and drinks we had were very enjoyable. I would say it is a little bit pricey, but they are decent portions so it was enough for two meals easily which makes me feel better about the price. I believe a lot of the curry and different dishes come vegetarian unless specifically stated so even adding chicken is an up charge. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very nice, polite and timely. It's a cool little place inside too. I noticed a lot of to go and DoorDash orders from this place but honestly if you have the time, it's nice and pretty lowkey to just sit down and hang out over a nice meal. I'd definitely come here again! Thai tea also wasn't super sweet compared to other places (which I really enjoyed) and the curry does start a little more spicy than at most places. The service combined with the lunch special for $13 that gets you a whole appetizer plate and your entree is worth the price of admission. This place will not be your convoy or have all the bells and whistles of the authentic Thai places. You will find bacon in your fried lady fingers, you will find the cheese and the unique usage of spices. However, I feel that it gives this place character and that is what makes Thai One On stand out. My Panang Curry was like a 3 out of 5 because it was way to creamy and with a level 4 spice I could have ramped it up a bit more. The string beans also were a different twist on that dish and kind of threw me off. Lunch Special price 5/5 I would want to try a few more different dishes before I make a final review on this place. I was originally going to give a 4 star (3.5 rounded up), but after writing this review, I decided to round down. I hear a lot of people recommending TOO, so I figured it had to be pretty good. We ordered pickup and took it home for dinner. The photos don't look great because it's TOGO, but once unpackaged, the food looked good and there was plenty stuffed into the containers. I'm not reviewing TOO based on the presentation of food since it's a togo order. The Thai Boat appetizer was almost all fried. Too much fried stuff to be honest, because everything started tasting the same. We were looking forward to the fried bacon wrapped shrimp ( Golden Fingers - long cone shaped items), but were disappointed. They were not very good and everyone only ate about 1/2 and discarded the rest. All the other fried stuff was about what you would expect. There was a decent amount of food for the price. The Chicken Satay skewers were decent, but they were sliced rather thick and a bit chewy (i.e. woody). There was also a TINY portion of peanut sauce for the satay. Overall, the Thai Boat is probably worth the price if you like all this fried stuff. The Chicken Pad Thai had very thin noodles. I guess I'm used to a wider noodle, but I just double checked and the menu does say "thin" noodles. We ordered 0 spice on this because we had never been to TOO before. The Pad Thai was pretty good and there was enough packed into the container to share with the whole family. If this box would not have been full, we would have been disappointed. Overall, I'd say the Pad Thai was a 7.5/10. The Chicken Thai Fried Rice was not that great. The rice was bland and the chicken didn't taste that great. I'm not sure if I would order it again. If you can't get fried rice right??? Overall, we were not super impressed considering we've had plenty of Thai food from different places. TOO is probably one of the more expensive Thai places around too. We might try it again, but I think we'd rather try places that are known to be good rather than taking a second chance. read more

Have been searching for a great Thai food spot in San Diego since moving here and this might be it! The name alone is excellent and the food was delicious! You need to try the Golden Fingers!!! I can't stop thinking about them. Service was fast and great for take out. Restaurant looks exactly how you would want a great Thai food restaurant to look. Only reason why I didn't give 5 stars was the green curry was spicy and the menu didn't say anything about spice.
