For a long time we both ordered one of the duck dishes. Lately we have varied with other succulent dishes. Frequently the accompanying dish has been Thai spicy basil rice with pork. Came for a weekday lunch with coworkers. I got the lunch special phad see-ew with shrimp. I chose the soup of the day (coconut soup or tom kha), and it came with an egg roll. Tom kha is my favorite Thai soup, so I loved that it was the soup of the day. Even though it was hot outside, there was AC inside, and I enjoyed the soup. Phad see-ew was delicious. I ordered spice level 6 (out of 10), and it was enough to give me a kick but not chugging water. It was also super hot temperature wise. By the time I was packing up my leftovers, it was still hot! We also shared the mango sticky rice, which was delicious. When I ordered, I informed them of my peanut allergy, and it was noted on my receipt. However, their new paper bags are not as durable as the former ones. The former bags were much thicker, while the current ones are very thin. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao for $20 and asked for a spice level 9. After driving over 20 minutes to get there, I was really looking forward to it. Sadly, the dish fell short. It lacked flavor overall, and there wasn't even a hint of spice, which was surprising given the level I requested. They were also not generous with sauces. Considering how expensive the dishes are, receiving only one small sauce packet and a very small cup of sauce felt underwhelming and not proportional to the price. I can usually overlook service if the food makes up for it, but in this case, both missed the mark. For the price and the drive, I expected a lot better. read more

The food is consistently fresh and flavorful without hiding by being overly spicy. I usually go for the cashew chicken, and my wife's favorite is the shrimp pad Thai -- both have been reliably good. We probably order from here about few times a month, which for us is a pretty good endorsement. The staff has always been friendly and easy to deal with, whether we're dining in or picking up. The only complaint I have is for the waitress to slow down. They get in such a hurry it really creates a negative atmosphere. The waitress was rushing around for no reason and spilled the ice water while filling the glasses. It went everywhere under our table as well as our clothes and shoes. Yes, it was just water which is no big deal and she came back and cleaned it all up which is also fine, but so much rushing and hurrying and running around like a sprayed roach is really stressful to endure while trying to enjoy a meal. Do yourself a favor, and order the mango sticky rice! The mango was perfectly ripe and the sticky rice was delicious. This is a favorite dessert of ours and this one was literally the best we've ever had. Beyond the amazing dessert, it's noteworthy to mention our waitress who was incredibly welcoming and friendly, with us and a fair amount of regulars. Stopped by here while going to get my tires worked on down Mission, and I'm super glad I did. I love Thai food, but this place made me into a new loyal customer. The service and overall staff were far above average. I never felt pressured to do anything, and she was more than happy to answer any of my questions. I have been to the other Ocean Thai location and loved it twice. I decided to go with this option because of location and I trusted them from my other experiences with the chain. We got takeout with high hopes. However, our noodle dishes were very dry and bland. We had to add sauce at home which is not what I wanted when spending money on takeout. I ordered a 1 spice on a drunken noodle and the noodles were almost white with no flavor at all. Usually a 1 gets me some flavor with a tiny hint of spice but this was nothing. Super disappointed. The spring rolls and peanut sauce were delicious and I gave 2 stars because I do love their online ordering system.
