My husband and I arrived at Tequilaville at 6 p.m. on Friday. I walked in while he parked the car. I walked into a PACKED lobby with no host or hostess. I looked around for someone to help me. And finally made my way to the bar where I asked a man, who never made eye contact with me, how do I put my name in for a table? He pointed to a piece of paper and told me to write my name on it. WOW! TALK ABOUT LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! I asked if I could order a drink while waiting and he said "yes, but it will be a while, I am busy!" Wow. My husband and I left and ended up at Red Oak Pub, to a packed lobby, Yes there was a Host stand, we were politely greeted and told how long our wait would be. A lousy start to the evening at Tequilaville.. Ended up Fabulous because of EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE AT RED OAK PUB! read more

I have been in here for dinner twice. My first time it had to be the worst Mexican food that I have ever eaten. I decided to give them another try based on all of the good reviews that I have read. Strike two......horrible food, really bad flavor, and enough salt in the food to preserve it through the year. Service was "ok". Wish it had been better......wont be back for a third attempt. read more

Food is mediocre, drink prices are not bad even though margaritas are MEH, service is slow-lacks direction. Waited for several minutes before being greeted at door for seat. Lack luster...and for those who think this place is great, clearly have never had an authentic Mexican cuisine. read more

The food here is seriously good! Very friendly staff. Best place in town if your looking for some authentic Mexican food.

Love it! I always get the chicken nachos or the chimich. Puerto Vallarta used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area until Tequillaville came to town! read more

Great Mexican food stop. Next time we go to Hocking Hills we will stop again. Found a big parking lot in back to park my RV and the service and food was excellent. The chip and salsa are good. I want to try a monster margarita next time. The fajita quesadilla was really good and my wife said the fish tacos were the best she had ever had. read more

We live in Texas so our expectation for Mexican food is high. I kept telling my mom that I have access to the best Mexican food in the country why would I try it in Ohio. I am happy to say this place was amazing!!! The food had so much flavor. The margaritas are a lot different than the average but if you give them a chance they are fantastic. The service was superb. read more

Favorite Mexican restaurant in Newark. Great food and very reasonable. Very friendly staff!

Good food at a fair price. The Service was fantastic. The dining room was clean. The Margarita was just right.

The food here was amazing! We were in the area overnight and thought we'd try it. Service was fantastic, friendly & fast. Prices very reasonable. When in the area again we will definitely stop again! Wow! read more

Love Tequilaville! They have some of the best salsa and chips, queso cheese dip and great service. Can't wait until our next visit!

Parking is mostly around back. The outside area is poorly maintained. Inside there is a short stairway. There are three TVs tuned to three different stations. We went all the way to the back to be as far from the three competing TVs as possible. The south of the border music was good. The decor is random, the chairs are comfortable. The salsa, even with lots of hot sauce added, was very runny and not good, the tortilla chips were warm and fresh. Our indifferent server was unenthusiastically just doing his job. He took our order, brought the beverages, warned us that the plates were hot, refilled the beverages, brought the bill, brought the change. We descended the stairs, walked through the dirty parking lot and drove away wondering if we would ever return. The food was very good and the prices are excellent. The food almost made up for not being a valued customer on a lovely Friday afternoon on the western edge of Newark, Ohio. read more

The food was very bland/tasteless. Found out why they are liked so much, the large strong margaritas lol.

Excellent food and service. Reviewers are correct the outside looks a little sketchy but dont let that keep you away. Prices are very good and the staff is very nice as well. read more

Love their queso, bean dip, and chorizo fajitas. I also ordered a sangarita once, and it was unbelievably delicious and strong! Good thing my husband was the drive, because all I needed was one. The service is quick and efficient, and the food is great. Can't wait to go back for our monthly book club! read more

Unexpectedly, the best Mexican food I ever had. And I'm a New Yorker that's been to Texas, New Mexico and San Francisco. Ohio, who knew! Get the chimichangas! read more

Was so happy when they opened. Very clean and plenty of seating. The food is very authentic and tastes great! Chori Polo is probably my favorite. A must order is the Meat Rice Soup to go with your ships or make a meal of it if your not too hungry. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

This is the best Mexican restaurant! Very authentic and great chicken fajitas. We have been coming here for quite a while now and have never been disappointed. Finally a great restaurant in Newark!! read more

Tasteless Tex Mex food. Service is not great. Margeratias suck! Had better tasting frozen drinks at local gas stations. However portions are good. One can usually grade a Mexican restaurant by it's salsa and the salsa supports my above comments. No taste or spice. Very bland food. read more

We love this place! I have been getting the Fajita Fundita. It's so good! On Fridays and Saturdays they can be pretty busy, but the longest we have ever waited is 20 min. Great service great food and great prices! read more

Great food and service, a good alternative to Puerto Vallarta that is closer to Granville.

I never knew Newark Ohio would have such amazing Mexican food! Amazing staff as well! 5 stars! read more

The food is pretty good and we like to go there however the owner is consistently the worst server, worst attitude and couldn't be less Customer Focused! I have never experienced such a poor behaving business owner in all my experience and travels! I seemed to get stuck with him every time and he is absolutely the worst, it truly bothers me to support a business where the owner has zero appreciation for his patrons! He's a deal breaker! read more

Never ate here before but it was excellent! I had the shrimp with mango sauce and it was delicious. The chips were fresh and the service was spot on. read more

The food here is great. I showed up for my very first visit here during lunch hours so not really anyone else was in there. The only other car in the lot was a health department car. Once I walked in it immediately smelt like tons of cleaning products (most likely because the health dept.) but it kind of took away from the meal when I could smell it the whole time. The service seemed a bit slow for being the only 2 people in there. The waiter was where I decided on 4 stars, he showed up to take our order, never brought out my side, then came out to give us our check. I don't know his name but he never came to bring us more drinks or ask how the food was. read more

Love Love Love this place! Great food! Great Drinks! Great prices! Can't wait to go back! #2 Como my absolute favorite! Add a side of rice and it is AMAZING!!!! We will see you guys again real soon!!!! read more

THIS PLACE ABSOLUTELY SUCKED! My family and I walked in and they said it would be a 30 minute wait well it ended up being an hour. When we finally got our table it took 10 minuets just to get waters. Our waiter was virtually non-existent no refills on drinks or the chips and salsa. It took an hour to get our food which was mediocre at best. It would have been more convenient to drive to Mexico and get authentic better tasting Mexican food. NEVER GOING BACK! read more

I have one very happy husband right now!!! When we found out El Maguey's closed we were devastated cause it was our ALL TIME favorite restaurant to eat at. Then a friend informed us that they moved to Newark and changed the name so of course we had to come check and make sure.....SO HAPPY!!! Best Mexican food to be found in Ohio! We always get the Fajitas for 2 and when we have our 4 year old son he gets the chicken strips and fries. read more

Tequilaville is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. They service is lightening fast and always good. The menu is very expansive. I typically get chicken nachos or the fajitas. I've never been disappointed and hope this restaurant is here to stay for a long time. The salsa and chips they give you is the best in town. Spicy and smooth salsa is perfect. The chips are always fresh. The prices are super cheap and the portions are huge. Definitely our favorite! read more

Let me start by giving credit for the food it was very good. It was the loudest place I have ever eaten. It was so bad we could not carry on any conversation with the couple we were with. It was difficult to place our orders. There are products that help absorb sound. They most certainly need to look into some. We will never return unless something is done or they move to a better building. read more

Possible food poisoning! Don't eat here. My husband, daughter, son and I all felt sick after eating here. Food didn't even taste very good. Should have known something was up. In the middle of the night after eating here, we all starting experiencing symptoms of food poisoning. Even weeks later, we were still feeling the effects of this. I wouldn't take any chances with this place!! read more

I preface this review by saying that so far this could be our favorite restaurant in the Newark, OH area. I liked the fact that those working here all seem to be Mexican. The food is very good but it's not special. Still, the salsa was nice as were the chips. I started with the cameron fundido which was very good. Then came the carnitas which was good but a tad dry. We come from Arizona where the Mexican food is special so we are harsh critics. I have the feeling that if I lived in the area, we would come here once a week. My rating as 3 stars may actually be 5 stars for the area. read more

Went to Tequlaville with my husband and WOW - very impressed. He had the Tequilaville Special (amazing shrimp in there), and I had the Polo Tropical. Food was absolutely amazing and the salsa had the perfect kick to it. Thought the service was a little slow and the overall atmosphere (decor) left a bit to be desired, but otherwise we will be back. read more

Really great food with awesome prices. The service could be a bit faster, but overall this is definitely one of our favorite spots to go for a good meal! I recommend the veggie fajitas :-) read more

8 out of 10 visits have been excellent. I've tried a lot of different dishes on the menu all very good at a good price. A few beers on tap , with tasty margaritas. read more

So me and my wife traveled from North Carolina to Ohio this weekend to visit family and when we arrive we decided to stop by this restaurant for some Mexican food. We got the food to go and came home to eat it as a family. While eating my wife bite into a rock. I drove back to let the manager know so that they would be aware and ensure that they check their food. As I explained the situation to the manager, she began to laughed in my face and said that I was lying. I was frustrated at the fact that they did not take this situation soursiously. Dental bills are very expensive and so are fake teeth. This could have been a lot worse. Another manager came to speak with me and when I explain the situation to him, he said ok it's just a rock. Not only is the food dangerous to eat @ tequilaville Mexican restaurant but the managers have zero respect for their customers. Their attitude is disgusting as well as their food. read more

we really liked this place, good service, reasonable pricess, decent food. we will be back!

It was a Saturday night and it was busy, just like any other restaurant in Newark. They told us a 30 min wait, we waited for well over an hour. Our server was terrible, not personable whatsoever. Barely spoke to us, never refilled our drinks (except for when our food came out) and never checked in to see if we needed anything while we waited an hour to get our food. The chips and salsa was okay, and the food was good, not great. I've had better food at Chipotle. Not to mention there was a patron in there that had the loudest and most obnoxious laugh I've ever heard. The entire restaurant was staring at her every time she laughed. She was clearly intoxicated and the staff did nothing about it. They never offered us a discount or a free appetizer or dessert, nothing. It was beyond loud and obnoxious in there between her and the 8 drunk guys that were there for someone's 21st birthday. I understand people having a good time and the place being busy but come on. When someone is so loud that they are disrupting the ENTIRE restaurant to the point that I am shouting at my own table, the staff needs to say something. It's a restaurant, not a bar on high street. This place can not handle a crowd. By far the slowest and worst service I've ever experienced. We will never be back. read more
