Tlaquepaque in Heath was such a gem! I had the Pollo Fundido (grilled chicken topped with cheese sauce and pico -- I skipped the chorizo) and it was absolutely delicious. Super flavorful, perfectly cooked, and comforting in all the right ways. My only tiny wish? A bit more rice and beans to balance out the generous amount of chicken and sauce. But no real complaints -- I'd 100% order it again. My friend got a steak dish and enjoyed it too -- said the only thing they'd tweak was grilling the onions a little more. Still solid overall! Also, don't skip the Jamaica agua fresca -- it was light, refreshing, and so good with the meal. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, and the whole place gave me that familiar, homey feel I usually only get from spots back in California. They have a great selection of food and everything taste great. This used to be my favorite place to eat! The LAST time i went the waiter took my drink and food oder and brought my drink. A short time later a food runner brought my dinner. The waiter NEVER came to see how i was doing, never came to ask if I wanted my cup refilled (finished half my dinner without) when i was done i actually had to ask another waiter if they could get my check. Then my waiter finally showed up. I only tipped 10% but wrote on the receipt why. I have not been back. read more

Best Mexican spot in Heath! Tlaquepaque recently bought out the old Mexican joint that used to be here, though not sure what happened to the other. Love their staple items. Queso is fantastic, not too spicy not too expensive. Great spot when craving some good Mexican food. read more

This is our new favorite place. We went a few weeks ago and husband loved the fish tacos. Said seafood tacos were even better today. Since when does chicken fajitas have tons of broccoli in it? Yes, broccoli. I guess when you get a small amount of chicken, and it's in small crumbles, making it hard to eat and enjoy as a fajita, you make up for the weight and volume with broccoli. And charge more! I ordered the chicken tacos (3) they fantastic. Seasoned very well and the Mango Margarita was very good! This place is clean and the bathrooms were on point. I think this restaurant is a Newark area favorite because I l'm told it's always packed with great customer service. They food came out quick, hot, and flavorful. read more

Lunch portion carne asada was comically small. Thought their salsa was poor for Tex max, basically just blended canned tomatoes it seemed like. We used to have to drive to Zanesville for this great Mexican food. I was pleasantly surprised when I seen a location in Heath. I can't believe I didn't know it was there sooner. We have been here about 3 times (maybe more) since we discovered this location. We loved the bright, cheerful decor and the uncrowded feeling. Some restaurants try to pack in as many tables as they can. One thing I love about this place is how fast the service is. We usually go when there isn't a long wait. Even thought the place is usually pretty busy we are seated quickly, drink orders taken and fresh chips and salsa arrives. Orders are fast and HOT. Portions are hot. And the food has always been great. They don't scrimp on portions or meat in their dishes. A chimichanga is going to be loaded with meat every time. In a world of rising prices I feel the prices here are very reasonable compared to similar dishes elsewhere. read more

Been here 5ish times never let me down as far as taste , portions, service . I love the fact that I can go in here, order the street carne Asada tacos and they be the same Every time! Consistently is important to me and this restaurant always delivers. Their salsa is amazing and I usually eat one bowl before the food comes out! I tried to order take out. The woman at the desk was incredibly rude and they refused to customize the order. I wanted to swap out a bean burrito for an enchilada. They flatly refused even after I told them an up charge would be fine. (I've done this in Zanesville) The Zanesville location is friendly and the service there has always been great... My family and I have eaten here 3 times. While the servers are great, the service is awful. We sat, waiting for our food for more than 45 minutes. Last night, at the hour mark, we decided to leave and take our food to go. It was like they rushed to get our food together and scraped our beans from the bottom of the barrel. They were burnt and not edible. Each time we have been there, the crowd was normal, nothing unmanageable with cooking and getting our food out in a decent time. Just not worth the wait. read more

First time there and NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL! Don't bother with this place, there are so many other good Mexican restaurants that will take great care of you. So, we had a group of 12 on a Sunday and they did get us seated about five minutes after arriving, but it went down hill from there. We waited about 10 minutes for our drink order to be taken. Initially we got chips and salsa, but had to fight like crazy to get those refilled, even then we got chips and one person was lucky to get more salsa. When we finally got our food order in we waited about 45 or so minutes to finally get our food. I ordered a fajita which very disappointingly came out luke warm with NO sizzle, in half a hollowed out pineapple; not on a skillet sizzling like it should have. Even the rice and refried beans were only luke warm, heck the plates were almost room temperature. I dare not complain and have to wait longer to get hot food! The wait staff was not attentive and refills went unnoticed, we were forced to try and grab someones attention to get them. All in all the decor in Tlaquepaque is nice, the layout is okay, but the food and staff need a major improvement. They won't be serving me again. I personally don't ever remember being in a Mexican restaurant and having to wait very long for food to come out like we did here. PS. Just thought I'd share, while I was checking out I heard another customer complain that they too had to wait a very long time to get their food, so it wasn't just us. read more

Was eager to try this place when I saw it was opening. I have heard good things about the one in Zanesville. Was highly disappointed. Waited 30 minutes for a table. Not bad I guess except for people that came in before us were sat ahead of us that required the same amount of seats as us. Once seated we asked for a drink menu only to find out they haven't made one yet. No biggie but you would think the server would be well knowledgeable about what they had in that case, nope. Once again, not a big deal. Ordered our food. 30 minutes went by without even seeing our server. Flag another server down to see if this person could see why we hadn't received our dinner yet. Now our server comes around only to ask " you guys are still waiting on your food?" Well yes we are, heck we haven't seen you in a half hour. Magically our food arrives within seconds. Some of it cold, some of it crispy from sitting under a heat lamp for so long. Not the type of experience I would expect for an $85 dinner. I would at least give some grace if the server would have been attentive but heck we couldn't even get a second basket of chips to tide us over, which costs money apparently at this establishment unlike any other place you go to. Won't go back and wouldn't recommend to anyone. If zero stars were available I would have chose that option. read more
